Big battery problem: iPhone 4S

I have a big problem. The battery of my iPhone 4S is empty after a short time of usage. Within 2 minutes 5% goes away. And sometimes it shuts down if there is still 10% of battery. Is this a problem of iOS 6.0.1 or is this a hardware problem?
Thank you.

  • Very big battery problem with OS 3.0!

With 100% full charged battery I lost 10% of power every hour!
If I go to sleep with 50% of battery... i found iPhone DEAD in the morning!
I can't use the alarm clock anymore without plug to the AC adapter!
Someone got the same big problem? With the 2.1 my battery works well. Ther's a way to fix this?

Back when I was using a Palm Treo I had a program that let me make multiple configuration changes with one keypress. (Can't think of the name of it right now.) The iPhone really needs such a program and I'm guessing that for that to happen Apple needs to provide APIs to allow it. Anyway...
I've found that it is a good idea to turn 3G network off except when I want to surf the Internet (and I'm in an area that has 3G) and to turn off WiFi when I'm not around WiFi access points. And what's really frustrating is that where I am working at the moment I can get 3G access but apparently I'm barely at the edge of reception which means the battery drains faster than if I were nearer the tower. So right now I'm basically paying for 3G and can't use it more than 1/2 my day. (The day AT&T doesn't have the iPhone monopoly I fire the craptacular company no matter what it costs me.)

  • Battery Problems - BIG Battery Problems

Since upgrading to 2.0, WiFi is KILLING my battery. I am not even getting 8 hours of standby. I have shut off all PUSH and FETCH settings and my battery is still draining like a Hummer. I didn't have this problem with 1.1.4. The only way to slow down the battery drain is to kill the WiFi. I am checking further to see if there is any app that is contributing, but I believe it's down to whether WiFi is on or off. As I said in another post, since this is happening with my iPod Touch, I now believe that the battery issues in the headlines about the iPhone and 3G have more to do with the software than the hardware. We really need a fix on this quickly.
    Bob

I posed the same question in the post called Very Quick Battery Drain if you are interested in reading other ideas as well.
I don't know how you are charging your Touch - but after downloading 2.0, I charged through USB on my Macbook because it was already plugged in. Normally I charge through the wall adapter. Long story short, the first day after 2.0...rapid drain, 10% in a day...I freaked out, plugged the Touch into the wall adapter and charged. I also turned off the services like wifi, push, etc. The battery has been much better since charging from the wall adapter. Now I haven't left my Touch in Standby like I used to (that's my next test) but at least my battery is lasting longer than a day and a half. Right now it's on day four I believe and that is with moderate music playing and some You Tube.
If you recharge through usb, try through a wall adapter to see if there's a difference. I know it may sound bizarre, but it might be worth a try.

Jeff Bryan is right… absolutly right… But, let me give you my experience… I had, and I wrote this post two days ago, a big Battery problem… I repeat : When I inadvertendly updated my iPod Mini first generation into the new one (1.4, then 1.4.1 in order to correct the bug), my iPod started to bug… The bug was : after 30 minutes, or 1 seconds (as soons as I turned it on), or 10 minutes, — in few words it depended on the iPod —, it cuts violently off… Imagine my head hearing a sudden cut-off whereas you were listening a The Ruts "Jah war", or the Fall "New face in ****" (that were my face which was in ****, in fact), or a Joy Division's "The Kill", or a Clap your Hand say Yeah… I don't know… Imagine my face… Well I posted plenty of posts in French Mac discussions, then in Apple Discussions, in order to find solutions… I received great advices from for instance Jeff Bryan, and of course french iPod users… But nobody understood why the update software was the origin of the battery problem… I called Apple France, they answered to me that there was not a Battery problem (they were right because before updating, the iPod used to run for 7 hours)… They adviced me to reset, reset, untill it corrects the bug… That I did… But, in fact, I wrongly reseted… and I was able to correct it… yesterday, I was pretty upset seeing all around me with their Nano, their Video, or their Photo, OR their MINI∞ whatever… I reseted one more time and suddenly, a page with all languages (the famous first page you have when you just formated it), which meant that I correctly reseted… I was very ashamed because, till yesterday I wrongly reseted it… Now… after a little bug, it works… I succeeded to get over the third (because after updating it into the 1.4, 1.4.1, it cut off after a third iPod listenning… and even though I went back with the 1.1, then the 1.3, it cut off after a third iPod listenning… What a stress !!)… So if you are sure that this is not a Battery problem, I mean if before this problem you usually had no problem battery, I advice you to reset it carefully…
I would like to thank Jeff Bryan for his great advices…

That could be the reason if you have a weak cellular data signal.

  • Reception / Battery problems with iPhone 3GS after upgrading to iOS 4.2.1

There are major reception and battery problems with iPhone 3GS after upgrading to iOS 4.2.1.
I can not believe that Apple did not test this for major bugs like this one is.
I am a business user and can not effort to have bad reception. Apple wants to gain in the business clients... I never had this with my former BlackBerrys!
I need a reliable phone not a play thing like this is right now, it just needs it to work propely. And if a major bug like this comes along, fix it immediately. After the iPhone4 story, now this...incredible! Going back to my reliable BlackBerry! It just ain't reliable and takes forever to fix a problem.

I have the same issue after iOS 4.2.1 update. I am using iPhone 3GS officially unlocked by Apple. I tried using different SIM cards and both carriers show same problem when using phone in 3G mode. Phone falls back to EDGE mode showing 'E' from '3G' at start. I have reset the phone and rebooted several times and moved to different cell areas in the city just to verify the problem.
I had no such issues earlier. I also have Nokia E71 which shows full signal and has no such issues.
I have posted the bug on apple iphone feedback page. I hope they Apple will fix the problem and test the release properly on all models before releasing to public.

  • Solved my iPhone 5 Battery Problems: Maybe it can help you!

Hi every one, I saw many topics regarding battery problems with the iPhone 5. I responded to one discussion describing what I did to solve the iPhone 5 battery dying fast on me. So I thought I'd make a discussion here to help out other users with the same problem.
I would have 25-30% drop with in the hour and all I did was text a couple of my friends. I was using an iPhone 4 for the longest time, and on that phone I was able to watch videos, listen to music and use all the other features of the phone. The battery still lasted me the whole day, I was getting  worried that I wouldn't be able to use the iPhone 5 the same with out it dying on me fast.
My friend suggested draining the battery and then charging the phone to see if any improvements were seen. I did that and I saw a small change in the battery strength. I drained the battery two more times, and that is when I saw a huge difference.
I use my Phone as my iPod when I work out, and I run continuous music on it for 1.5-2 hours straight, along with sending texts to my friends. In this duration I would only use 15-20% which was a huge improvement from before. I would say that the battery life was on par with my iPhone 4 battery! It is such a relief, now I can use my iPhone 5 to it's fullest potential without having to worry it'll die on me fast.
I recommend other iPhone 5 users try draining their batteries a couple of times before charging as well if they are experiencing problems.
    Hope this helps!
    Dylan

I would let the battery completely die before I would charge it again. I would keep 3g off and only turn it on if I'm going to use it and turn it off again. Because the phone uses more power for the 3g/4g that the battery dies even faster.
I text a lot to friends so I'm constantly texting through out the day and when I work out continously run music on it for close to 2hours. It would only drain 15-20% of the battery, which really is a huge improvement.
I also use Siri quite often through wifi and it barely uses any battery power. Try letting the phone die until it turns off a couple of times before you charge it. That is what I did before a friend requested doing that after I was getting fraustrated with the battery power.

  • Problem with my battery on iphone 5c

problem with my battery on iphone 5c

I too am so angry with my new carrier , This new year I decided to end my contract with Softbank because they did so many nasty things to foreigners over the years with like roaming charges 5 bad 3G 2 bad 4G  iPhones and Apple store Sendai trying to play it ,we have no control over carriers.
So I had to pay a painful contract  ending payment and MNP charge so I could use my paid for number on a NTT
iPhone 5 C that was at a 1 JP Yen special plan ,They just put on options you do not need like Wallet and charge for it ,then when I finally went throught the most rigourous security checks I was given a already opened Box because after I noticed the tape around the clear plastic top was missing and either side I saw Japanese customers opening the box by them selves I was not offered why ? when io came back they said they can open it do what ever they want until the money goes into the carriers account because I got it for free!,yet they will milk me for 2 years ! Blood suckers! Japan is a rip off.And they lock it so you can not use WiFi after 2 year contract.
Getting back to the point ,Because I was a new customer and Gaijin they are stopping me from clearing History ,it should be blue but greyed out ,they do so they can track browesing then sell my data on preferences for shopping.
Not only Apple that is keeping track it is also Carriers who are working together to get more money from us and not only that they damage your iPhone out of spitefulness because you canceleed the contract and want to use WiFi only They send so mant Ads trying to sell rubbish and you can not stop it ,and they change the contract in the middle and also try to stop you from cancelling a contract by telling you will be black listed.

I final piece for me in the jigsaw following on from this
    http://www.care4pcs.co.uk/2012/10/how-to-be-happy-gmail-user-on-iphone-or.html
is to turn off wifi when you do not need it. When I leave the house I turn off wifi, because the majority of the times when my iPhone has got very hot and crashed is when I am away from home. I suspect that if the iPhone is in the vicinity of public wifi (wheather secure or not secure) it will try and connect, even if you have 'automatically join known networks' set to off. This is easy of course if you have an unlimited data contract for your iPhone. I may be wrong, but it is working for me. It makes sense for me because it is another way of reducing the work the processor (and battery) has to do and therefore reduces the chance of overheating.
Having said that, I never had this problem with my iPhone 4. I now have a 4S.
Try it. Hope it works for you.

  • Hi I went to an Apple store in sydney regarding a battery problem on my Iphone . All the think its the phone settings but my question is what the point of giving the facilities in phone if we are not suppose to use those?

Hi I went to an Apple store in sydney regarding a battery problem on my Iphone . All the think its the phone settings but my question is what the point of giving the facilities in phone if we are not suppose to use those?

    Your question/request is incomprehensible.
    This much can be understood:
You have an iPhone (model unknown)
You have some sort of battery issue (exact kind unknown)
You went to the Apple Store in Sydney (presumably, Australia)
You did not achieve satisfaction on said visit.
So, throw a shrimp on the barbie while you explain yourself, mate!

  • What is this noise, and battery problem on Iphone 4S

There was a battery problem on Iphone 4s so i was worried to buy it, but once I heard that Apple published new ios 5.0.1, I went down to the Apple store near to my house, and I bought Iphone 4S. First time meet with Iphone 4S great Siri, and more faster processer, I liked it, but after I used for 1 week I found many problems, there was battery problem still, and even there was noise problem, expeciallly the noise problem is annoying because when I phone call to my friend or home I can hear it very clealy...
    please fix it apple

Reset, will reset the battery meter is this is the problem. To Reset, hold both the Home and Power buttons until the iPhone restarts itself, ignore the "slide to power off", let the iPhone restart itself. Usually takes about 10 seconds of holding both buttons. If not better, try tap Settings App > General > Reset > Reset All Settings. The set up your iPhone again. If not better, you may need to Restore the iPhone Firmware, I would perform this with iTunes on your computer.

  • Iphone 4s battery problems PLEASE HELP

I got my 4s about a week ago. The first couple of days i noticed the battery would go down pretty quick. So i looked online and seen all these different ways to save battery life by switching the settings around. I did all of the recommended changes ( location, brightness, etc.) i had already charged the phone the same way i would charge any phone before i read the full discharge full recharge. I did that two nights in a row and since then i let it get to atleast 2% before i charge it. Last night i put it on the charger around 20% maybe a little more and it definatley overcharged for an hour or two before i took it off. When i go to work i leave it in my locker and go on it during breaks. Normally it would never change the % while on standby and it would go down 1 maybe 2% while i use it. Today by the time it was lunch break it was down to 80%. As i type this my battery is at 64% with 2 hours and 31 minutes usage and 16 hours, 5 minutes of standby.
What happened to it? It bothers me so much cause i love the phone and it was doing good until today.
I JUST NOTICED that there is a new software update iOS 5.1.1. Could this sudden battery problem have occured because i am running older software??!!

You've probabaly just installed and left running more applications. Applications dont entirely close when you hit the home screen. You've probabaly notice when you turn on your phone you have to wait through the loading screen for many applications. After that they sit on the memory of the phone, and the phone uses some battery retaining the state of each application. In Stand-By and still when powered down, your battery will slowly drain (less so when powered down).
You may want to start force closing apps or occasionally powering down your iPhone. Additionally, the battery is not a NiCad battery where you can't charge it when it's at 80% or you'll risk causing the "battery memory" to max at 80%. The iPhone batteries are fine to be charged when they're at 95%. That said, Apple does recommend dispersing the battery to 0% atleast once a month. These batteries do have a battery charge cycle, ie: after so many charges the drain will begin to occur, but it's alot better than say your R/C car battery, or your typical rechargable triple 'A' battery.
On another note, I do recommend you run the latest updates, if there ever is a battery issue and they know about it, they'll try to address the issue.
