Big difference between Oracle NoSQL and Oracle Coherence

As an Oracle integration partner we use all kinds of Oracle products. One of the products that Oracle has in their stack is Coherence. Off course Coherence can do more than a standard NoSQL, however you can also use Coherence as a NoSQL solution. When should one choose Oracle Coherence and when Oracle NoSQL if one wants to use a simple key-value store.

Hello,
In general, Coherence is a mid-tier caching solution. Oracle NoSQL Database is a persistence solution for unstructured or semi-structured data.

  • Big Difference Between 2 GHz and 2.2 GHz?

I am looking and itching to get a new MacBook. Is there a big difference in the processor speeds?
Also, I am thinking that 2G RAM and a 120 G HD will be good for me.
    Thoughts?

I'll just point out that you don't necessarily *add* RAM to a MacBook, but you replace it. Both memory slots are populated in a MacBook's factory configuration, and you can replace 1 module or both. However - given the current prices for compatible 3rd party memory, why not max it out at 4GB?
My iBooks all came with standard system memory soldered on the logic board and a single SODIMM slot to accept add-on memory.
The price that Apple is charging for memory is not competitive. We can point to places to get 4GB of the same first-tier branded memory manufacturers (Samsung or Micron/Crucial) Apple is using for under $200. I could point you to very trustworthy brands where you could get 4GB for less than $100. I can personally recommend the following, as it's been working well on my MacBook for over a month:

  • Is there a Really big difference between 2.2Ghz and 2.4Ghz??

Hey there, I have a macbook 2.16Ghz, but Im ready to go for the Macbook pro, so I just wanna know, Im going to use a lot of music recording programs, such a protools, reason, logic, etc.
I know there is a difference between the 2.2 and the 2.4, but can it really feel the difference, and also, Theres the graphics thing, I know that the 2.4Ghz has a better gfx card than the 2.2Ghz, but would this affect the results on lauching and using... AUDIO PROGRAMS like those mentioned before.
    Thanks...

For every day use you won't notice a thing between them. Even though there's a 9% difference in clock speed you won't actually get 9% better performance. Where you will notice the difference is in areas like music encoding and so on where it's simply a matter of CPU muscle. Unless you're into games, 3D work or video production the extra VRAM will not make any difference at all.

  • Big difference between h.264 and mpeg4

Well I'm looking at two episodes of enterprise,
one created from a tivo file and encoded to mpeg4 with pqdvd on the pc and the other encoded with forthytwoplus on the mac.
And you can really see the difference in quality, especially on dark areas.

I just realised...i have the best app sat here on my computer!
HandBrake converted a 42 minute episode of The OC to an iPod 320 x 240 format...in around the same time as the video length! The best part....my fans remained almost silent.
There is also this guide which shows how to go from DVD to iPod using a single application.

  • BIG: differences between intel-safari and PPC-safari...

I just want to say and discuss this phenomenon because I was unable to find anything about this. I do a bit of web development and I can say that Safari on power-pc machines handles CSS differently than Safari with Intel based Macs .
The bottom line is that there is a lot of website that look a bit screwed within PPC-Safari! And I am not sure that the people producing these websites are aware of that.
Did anyone notice that and does anyone know what causes such trouble? I wish these bugs would disappear.
    Please Apple clean your mess!
PS: If someone is interested I could post pictures.

PS: If someone is interested I could post pictures.
I think links might be helpful as well. Those of us with PPS Macs and Intel Macs can then look to see if we also see what you're seeing.
Two questions come to mind. Are you comparing on only one PPC Mac and one Intel Mac, or is this something you've seen on multiple Mac of both types? And are you using the same version of Safari on both types of Mac?

  • Difference between ms excel and oo calc

is there a big difference between ms excel and oo calc?
have to learn excel, but have only linux.
are the macros and and the handling similar?
    what are the differences?
    thanks in advance.

    From OpenOffice Help:
With a few exceptions, Microsoft Office and OpenOffice.org cannot run the same macro code. Microsoft Office uses VBA (Visual Basic for Applications) code, and OpenOffice.org uses Basic code based on the OpenOffice.org API (Application Program Interface) environment. Although the programming language is the same, the objects and methods are different.
The most recent versions of OpenOffice.org can run some Excel Visual Basic scripts if you enable this feature at Tools - Options - Load/Save - VBA Properties.
If you use macros in one of the applications and want to use the same functionality in the other application, you must edit the macros. OpenOffice.org can load the macros that are contained within Microsoft Office files and you can then view and edit the macro code in the OpenOffice.org Basic IDE editor.
The workflow is pretty much the same; a spreadsheet is a spreadsheet. Some keyboard shortcuts are different and annoy me.

  • What is the difference between a scam and spam?

I come across these complaints from skype community members on spamming and scamming. Any distinction?

A spam is an electronic message that is randomly sent to a large number of people who never solicited that message and a scam is a trick which is cleverly made successful by gaining the confidence of the victim. There is big difference between a scam and a spam but people often take it as one thing. In some cases, as such in Facebook, a same thing is acting both as a scam and a spam.Recently a spam started crawling the profile walls of the Facebook users. This acted as a spam because it was sent to a large number of people who never wanted that message and at the same time it also acted as a spam because it successfully convinced people to click on it and do what it says. This confuses people to judge either it is a spam or a scam. It can be both, a single message can fall into both categories. Gmail, WordPress, Hotmail, etc have a good automatic system of identifying spam emails thus making our lives safe and secure. If they didn’t have made progress in spam detection then our blog comments and our emails would have been full of useless messages. That was a brief description explaining the main difference between a spam and a scam. Enjoy yourself and beware of the scams and spams. Internet is full of them. Sourced from: ChasingEyesComputer Tips, Internet, Blogging and Lots More

  • Difference between RSP-720 and SUP-720 on 7600

    Hi all,
I wonder what's the big difference between RSP-720 and SUP-720. both have almost the same feature set, performance and also same price. Anyone can explain in detail?
This can also be applied to difference between 6500 and 7600 and narrow difference between routers and switches these days.

There are tons of differences between the RSP and the SUP 720.
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/routers/ps368/product_data_sheet0900aecd8057f3b6.html
Look @ the " Hardware Enhancements over Supervisor Engine 720" section
The 6500 and 7600 are diverging in terms of software release support on 12.2(33)SX* for 6500 and 12.2(33)SR* for 7600 which means the feature sets will be diametrically opposite.
E.g. VSS on Cat6k's is not available on 7600's

  • What are the differences between Oracle and other NoSQL database

    Hi all,
I would like to know what the differences between Oracle and other NoSQL database are.
When and why should we use Oracle?
Is Oracle NoSQL database link with Big Data Appliance?
Can we use map-reduce on a single personal computer? How should we install Oracle NoSQL database to use map reduce on a single personal computer?
Do we also have eventual consistency with Oracle NoSQL database? Can we lose data if master node fails?
Are transactions ACID with Oracle NoSQL database? How can we prove it?
    Thanks.

Is Oracle NoSQL database link with Big Data Appliance?Yes, Oracle NoSQL Database will be a component of the Big Data Appliance.
Can we use map-reduce on a single personal computer? How should we install Oracle NoSQL database to use map reduce on a single personal computer?Yes, I believe you can run M/R on a single computer. Consult the various pieces of documentation available on the web. You may run Oracle NoSQL Database on the same computer that you are running M/R on, but it is likely that they will compete for CPU and IO resources and therefore performance may suffer.
Do we also have eventual consistency with Oracle NoSQL database? Yes.
Can we lose data if master node fails? If you run Oracle NoSQL Database with the default (recommended) durability settings, then if the master fails, a new one will be elected and data is not lost.
Are transactions ACID with Oracle NoSQL database? How can we prove it?Yes, each operation is executed in an ACID transaction. The API has the concept of "multi" operations which allow the caller to perform multiple operations on sets of records with the same major key, but different minor keys. Those operations are also performed within a transaction.

  • Major differences between Oracle 10g Release 1 and Oracle 10g Release 2?

What are the major changes and differences between Oracle 10.1 and 10.2?
    Thanks

Why not look through the 10.2 New Features doc?
In my experience, the "major changes" are almost always environment-specific. "Transliteration for Japanese Kana Conversion", for example, is likely to be a huge deal for a few organizations (i.e. big enough to justify a migration all by itself). Other organizations and applications, on the other hand, won't care in the least.

  • Difference between instant client and full oracle client

    Everyone,
I had read the below lines from a goldengate pdf. Someone please explain me what is the difference between instant client and full oracle client?
What is the use of XDK libraries.?
" The full Oracle client must be used with GoldenGate so that the GoldenGate programs
have access to the Oracle XDK libraries. Do not use Oracle Instant Client, which lacks
those libraries. You can download the full client from Oracle’s website."
    Regards,
    SAKTHi

    The dealio is this:
When you install client software, you have several options as to the degree of what you get/install. The big chicken dinner is administrator, so you get all kinds of extra features, add-ons, libraries, utilities, etc. At the hard candy Christmas end is instant client, and that has just enough functionality to, as you may surmise by now, connect a client and that's about it. Various libraries have functionality built in to do whatever extra is required. An example is FAN, or fast application notification, used in Data Guard failover. A FAN API (Java) will detect a failover and re-direct a client connection to the new primary. What GG uses XDK for (specifically) isn't of importance to a user, just the fact that it is available for connecting to Oracle is.

    Hi,
I would like to know the major difference between Oracle and MySQL. I have a project to generate XML files from database tables, i have used oracle's built XML functions XMLELEMENT, XMLATTRIBUTES, XMLFOREST, XMLAGG. I really want to know if these functions (or) similar functions are supported/availabe in MySQL.

What's so hard about finding a "best linux distro for installing Oracle11g"? The supported distros are listed in the fine Installation Guide for Linux. At the top of the list is Oracle's own Oracle Linux, which is in the same family as Red Hat.
so i am planning to switch to MySQL. Please help, Thanks in advance.

  • Differences between Oracle Forms 11.1.1.6  and 11.1.2

    Hello !
Which version should I choose 11.1.2 or 11.1.1.6
11.1.2 must me the latest one aka 11gR2
    11.1.1.6 must be 11gR1 PS5
    Am i right ?
but in the forms home page it seems that the 11.1.1.6 is the latest version ??
    Oracle Forms 11.1.1.6 Released
The latest version of Oracle Forms (11.1.1.6) has been released.
This can be downloaded from My Oracle Support (MOS)
    23-Feb-2012
Oracle Forms 11g Release 2 has been released. Read about the new features.
    Oct-2011
I suppose that in a MiddleWare stack : SOA suite + BI publisher + Forms, the 11.1.1.6 (11gR1 PS5) is the best choice.
Can somebody explain me the differences between Oracle Forms 11.1.1.6 and 11.1.2 ?
    Thanks

Additional information about new features and changes can be found in the product documentation for 11gR2, which is here:
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E24269_01/index.htm
One important thing to note is that FMw 11.1.2 (11gR2) does not include Portal or Discover. So if you need either or both of these you will need to stick with 11.1.1.Hi Michael,
One of the features which is very very important in my point of view is
    Reduced Installation Footprint
In order to reduce the resource requirements on development machines, you can perform an
installation specifically tailored for development. This will limit the number of software products
and servers installed on the machine whilst still allowing a developer to build, run and test their
    Forms application.
If this feature is only available for the 11.1.2 release then the choice is made !
    Thanks !
    Jean-Yves
ps : and we don't use any portal or discoverer :-)
