Big dissapointment.

Hi!
A while ago my capturing in FCP 4.5 went real bad. After 20 secs or so I dropped frames and I couldn't go on.
After a bit of research, i found out that maybe it was an upgrade of quicktime that caused these problems (now I'm running
7.1.6)
I need help:
Is it really quicktime that causes this problem? if so:
Can it be fixed? Can I download an older version (7.1.4) somewhere(then I'll replace the new one and maybe it'll work)? or will a hopefully coming patch fix this?
I'm disappointed with this because i thought that apple wouldn't provide me with upgrades that destroys functoinality (if QC is the problem, please let me know).

iMac G5 1.8 Ghz, over 100 GB free space, 1 BG RAM. OS X 10.4.9

But i'm still really disappointed with that update, I mean it shouldn't mess things up because everything isn't megafresh up to date (FCP costs a lot, am I not right?). What's that "guarantee" that you don't need to buy all sorts och soft- and hardware before an update (I'm referring to the "Mac ads").
For me this is the first time this happens and I can only hope
that Apple releases some kind of fix. Otherwise your in that
Windows trap where the components doesn't work together unless you tamper with them!

Iphone 6 big dissapointment, Verizon even bigger.

     Yet another negative mark against Verizon. So, I finally talked my wife out of an Android. Told her she needed to branch out, try something new. I used to have an Iphone 4S and never really had any problems with it, until it got about time for an upgrade. This turned out to be a mistake, stupid me. She got and Iphone 6. Brand new phone that took her some getting used too. She had it only for about 3 months, then the problems started. First the screen would lock up and not respond. Sometimes restarting the phone would just freeze on the apple screen. Phone would restart itself, screen would go red, and would give the option to connect to WiFi. Started doing some research, too late unfortunately, this seems to be an ongoing issue. We contacted Verizon, they did their troubleshooting and deemed the problem was the phone itself. Said they were going to send her another one. Okay, no big deal, sometimes things happen. The phone she got was a refurbished phone, certified pre-owned. This kind of ****** us off a little. She paid for a "New" phone, got one that was defective. Why the hell would we want a "Used" phone. Something similar happened a few years back when she had the Rzr HD Max. It broke, they sent her a regular used Rzr, but after raising 7 kinds of hell, finally sent a new Rzr HD Max. This may be more of a problem with the warranty and insurance providers.
    Back to the Iphone issue. The one they sent her worked for 3 days. This one will not make or accept calls. It will ring, but once you try to answer on either making or receiving calls, will automatically drop the call. No voice mail, no exceptions, do not pass go...etc. Verizon was contacted again, they couldn't fix it and sent her to their "Technical" department. Well, that was like sticking a piece of metal in a wall outlet for the first time. Guess they thought since they were talking to a female, she wouldn't pick up on how stupid and idiotic their suggestions could be. "Well, it can't be your phone, it is a new phone. Maybe it is your SIM card?", said the technician. Wait a minute, now we're guessing what the problem may be. I thought these were "Technical Specialist". So, they sent out a new SIM card and guess what? It did nothing to fix the problem. Phone still broke, we're still ******, and they've done nothing to remedy the situation so far.
     All we've heard is "I can't, I can't, I can't." Customer service says we can't send you a new phone, you can't get a different phone, you can't go to a Verizon retailer for another phone. She goes to a Verizon store to see if they can help with the SIM card issue. Again they said, "We can't". At one point, she had her old phone temporarily activated while Verizon tried to fix the Iphone. Now they're telling her that we can't reactivate the older phone again, because they've updated their system and no longer have the information from that SIM card. ***!, so you just lost hundreds of thousands of other peoples info and they probably don't even know it. Told her that she'll have to go back to a Verizon store to reactivate that SIM card. Probably easier to just change providers. Guess we'll soon see.

it could be the operating system. iOS 8 has been known to have alot of bugs because apple went for features instead of stability which has caused issues like yours on the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. it may just need a software update to fix these bugs.

Lumia 1020, BIG dissapointment so far!

My new 1020 is not what I expected, yet I have not even used the camera which I hope will be as good as the 808 PureView phone camera.
Ok, I transfered my (SIM)constacts via bluethooth from my old 808 PureView, no problems, but where in the world do I get a list of contact in the 1020?? Ofcoarse now when Microsoft is involved..."contacts" for them are email addresses and people on the MSN/Skype contact list too...When pressing the ordinary Nokia "phonebook" symbol, it says "CONTACTS" on top, then below "all" and below then "configure account" and below that "import SIM contacts" which I can not press because there are no contacts on my SIM card probably. I need to press the magnifyin glass and typ a letter and the copied SIM contacts containing that letter pops up along with e-mail addresses från both my Hotmail accounts which I have unboxed in the settings but ofcoarse still shows as contacts....this is alot of pressing to just make a simple phonecall! The "phonebook" symbol should ONLY show a list of alla phonenumbers ofcoarse! What is wrong??
This 1020 really feels like my old Sony Acro...poor quality on the display, too big for one hand use(and I have large hands) and typing a sms is really hard hitting those small button so close together! Where do I find the alphanumeric keypad for fast sms´ing?
And watching photo is somewhat a nightmare in the 1020 compared to the awesome 808 PureView...I trasnferd lost of pictures to my 1020...many from the old 808 PureView....ALL photos appear to be a little bit blurry on the 1020...and you can not zoom in much at all, only one stage with dubbleclick and then all the way to 100% manually but not more which was possible in the 808...in the 1020 is seem it does not care if its a 300KB pictures or a 38 Megapixal picture, It zoom in the same on both...which is not enough for the 38 Mpixel and way way too much for a small 300KB picture...and this blurryness is ofcoarse something Nok....eh..Microsoft have done to make the phone faster...Even my fast computer can not handle these megabig photos in the speed the 1020 currently do....soo...can I please watch my 38Megapixel photos in full resoluton please so I can see all the fine details like in the 808 PureView?
And how can I see the 4G and battery symbol ontop all the time and not just 2 seconds? Its so tiny taskbar anyway, let it be shown, I wanna see whats goin on op there..especially my signal strength!
Ive optimated the phone so much everywhere now so I have not yet discoverd the camera...its nice the 1020 is fast and email accounts are up to date constatly which i great, but its not yet as high end phone like the 808 Pureview, its more like an better copy of my old Sony Acro S Android phone..... someone please solve my issues obove!
Such great flagship phone must be able to show photos in fullresolution even though it may take a second to load the orginal photo liek the 808 PureViev and even the N8 had to do to process a 12 Mpixel pic.
And only one kind of keyboard?? Gotta be more different types..where are they?? Man I wished this 1020 came in the 808 shell...it was a dream for one hand use! Even Apple realised this when they created their latest Iphone....

Most of your 'objections' are easily spotted when you see the phone in a shop or even when you read the specs. How do you figure a phone with a 4.7"display will be the same size as one with a 4inch screen?
Many things in WIndows Phone work a bit different from what you may be used to on the 808PV yes. But those are things you are used to more that better or worse. You can easily have the cellular connection, WiFi and more indicators available all the time by simply adding them to the startscreen and putting a small tile across the top or anywhere you like. There is a multitude of apps for this purpose in the store like WiFi livetile and Cellular livetile.
The 1020 screen resolution is four times that of the 808PV so icons and text will appear smaller in the same pixel height. Zooming into photos with pinch zoom is far more detailed as you seem to indicate and I think it's more a matter of getting used to this than anything else (again). The keyboard is not customisable or replacable. I personally do not see anything wrong with it though.
The People Hub is much more than a contact list, it is the place where you find everything about the people you know and communicate with. If you want a more 'oldskool' experience there are (again) many apps available in the store like rapdialer.
Lastly, I get that starting with a new phone and a new OS is challenging sometimes, but to say the 1020 is to big (even with big hands) is pushing it IMO. It may take a little time to get used to the larger size but that will happen soon enough. Also you may want to consider people would be much more willing to help and assist when someone comes in here and ask for help of suggestions as they are new to the phone and ecosystem as opposed to someone who comes in basically guns blazing and with a negative mindset.
If you do not like the phone no one is forcing you to keep it, you have had ample time to inform yourself and you are not new here so you might have popped in before hand and ask questions. It would have prepared you better and woudl most likely have put you in a different mindset from the start.

-You are forced into email without the benefits of a normal email program (save in sent box, know what you did emailbox)
-making a book is a disaster apart from the fact that you have to upload every item apart (costs much more shippingcosts, no other company is that inefficient)
-Normal proportions of pictures don't fit in the designs so pictures are not completely visible, cropping is no option, inzooming is--but still--you don't see your whole picture
-changing pages with pictures mess up your whole book in stead of re-order the pages
-If you want to make a postcard and have a standard size picture, it won't fit in

N900 big Fail or to soon on the market?

Today a bought the n900 this seem to bee a good replacement for my 5800.
I can not make playlist-s with ovi suite! Big dissapointment with 32 gb of storage.
I can not connect to ovi store from my homescreen. It say's comming soon!
i can not connect to my exchange server(with 5800 after lost og bugs, no problem)
This sucks big time because i need my agenda, contacts and mail.
My headfone remote(ad 54) from my 5800 is not working.
and i am not happy when reading all of the problems on the internet.
Is my fone an accident waiting to happen?
In the mean time i put the foon on the shelf because my older 5800 is beter even my wife's n97 is beter!
can any one please tell me when or how this problems are going to be fixed?

How to set it so voice recordings aren't interrupted by incoming calls

So, recently when I've been recording with the voice memos, and a text or an incoming call comes in, it INTERRUPTS THE VOICE RECORDING. Why would I possibly WANT this, Steve Jobs?
The other day, I was recording a performance I was doing on stage. I got a text from a friend saying "I'm not going to make it to your performance. Sorry." And my recording was interrupted. Of course, I didn't notice until I got down off the stage. Big dissapointment.
Is there a simple preference to be set for, like, "Don't let voice memos get interrupted"? Check!

Steve doesn't make the iPhone himself.
Nor is he in the user forum.... well he could be but I haven't seen him.
The reason it interrupts is because the iPhone is a phone.
And the main function is .... a phone.
Anything phone related pops in front of any other app.
So as gdgmacguy suggest, if you want to turn off phone features for a while the activate Airplane mode.
Which would probably be also the correct setting if your phone is where there is a performance.
Have some respect for the other performers; you would be unhappy if someone got a call during your performance right?

X1 Carbon 2015 (Gen3) Battery life

Hello all,
Looking for some advice on properly setting up power managment on my new X1Carbon 3rd Gen, touch screen, i7, 8GB ram. Running Windows 8.1. I have used the default Lenovo powerplan but reduced brightness to 50%.
I noticed today and yesterday while traveling that I was not getting the 5-8 hours I have heard people mention. Yesterday though I was watching some video in the VLC app and found I was down to 30% after approximately 2 hours. In total may have gotten 3 hours battery.
Today I worked on my laptop on two train rides back to back total 2.5 hours and was down to 28% battery. I suspect that I might have some settings not optimized so any feedback would be appreciated. This is a fresh install so no bloatware and all Lenovo drivers are up to date.
Any feedback would be appreciated or areas I should look at to fix this.

I am probably in the 'real world' 5-6 hour range with my Gen. 3 X1 (sometimes I can stretch to 6.5-7 hours if I watch power usage very carefully and run Task Manager to shut down battery hogging processes). Big dissapointment in the battery life department, for sure. I think part of this is Windows 8.1 which tends to run processes that chew up battery (unlike Apple laptops which are way more optimized to sip power).
I originally ran on "Balanced" mode but I'm getting really bad browser (mostly Chrome) lag on battery so I switched to "Lenovo Power Optimized" which really hasn't helped the lag that much but the machine seems a bit more responsive.
I have Battery Bar Pro to monitor my instant power usage and found that the X1 uses far less power on battery when browsing using Internet Explorer touch (on the Metro side) but that requires you to choose IE11 as your default browser which is not optimal since the touch version of IE11 is so limited (no extensions) that it makes browsing difficult (at least for me). I am praying that Spartan solves these problems.
So, bottom line is that the X1 is definitley not getting anywhere near its advertised battery life of 10.4 hours. I'm sure you could get that if you had the screen all the way down and used the X1 in a very limited fashion but nobody works like that. Lenovo should be more like Apple and give real world battery life estimates (yes, the MacBook Air really gets 10+ hours plus in real world usage).
There's a lot to like about the X1 (great keyboard, trackpoint, good touchpad, etc.) but battery life is not one of them.

All-In-One IdeaCentre C440, high pitch sound

I have a problem with my Desktop PC All-In-One Lenovo IdeaCentre C440, machine type: 10104, configuration number: 57322047. I bought this computer last week ago and from the beginning is present a high pitch sound. The high pitch sound is more evident when I don't use the PC (on Windows desktop for example or when I navigate on the Internet). I noticed that this high pitch sound disappear if I play a game (I set the sound off to confirm this) and come back in desktop Windows mode. I noticed also that this high pitch sound is lower or disappear if I copy (transfer) large files on my home network from one computer to another.
Is a solution for this situation ? Thank you.

Yesterday I've been with my computer to a service nearby. The guy from there told me that he doesn't have what to do and that probably in time the sound will just become worst and worst.
Unfortunately lenovo it's a big dissapointment.

Why audio sounds different in the Mountain Lion over 10.6

I just upgraded my system OS 10.6.8 to the latest 10.8.4, and I found that audio on the 10.8.4 sounds different.
I did some tests and I can say that audio when listening on the 10.8.4 has less bass content and the hi-mids are more agressive.
I running the audio studio on my Mac Pro and this was a big dissapointment for me.
Also I rendered audio file from Logic Pro 9 on the both system and they are the same, but when you listening on the 10.6.8 it sounds correct while on 10.8.4 sounds different. I have the same audio drivers from RME Fireface 800 on both systems. In tests I used identical Logic arrangement file on both systems.
I just don't like the sound on the new system at all. It is worse than it was on the 10.6.8.
I switched to the Snow Leopard again and I regret that I puchased your latest OS. Why it is done? Apple?

Still images used in iMovie ('09) look bad, poor quality

I'm curious why my photos look poor in iMovie? Is this just a lo-res rendering that I'm seeing on screen, or is this really how they're going to look? I'm using the photo browser in iMovie and selecting photos from both iPhoto and Aperture, just as suggested in iMovie...i'm not using some weird import method. The photos I'm using were shot with a 5D Mark II, so no slouch in photographic capabilities. All are of proper exposure and, on screen in Aperture for instance, they look amazing. But in iMovie, there is banding and pixelation, particularly when dealing with dark, rich colors, and especially black. When those colors show on screen, they look like there were taken with a terrible camera at a low resolution. Is this just a lo-res on-screen render? Or is this how it's going to look when I export this to iDVD and play it on my television?

I too made a very similar post last week and had no responses. It is a software problem I believe, there is no doubt about that. I showed this problem to some apple guys at a tradeshow. They used my pics on their computers with the same result. They could not provide an answer. they said they would raise it with apple techs.
The issue was eveident when i purchased my mac book pro with leopard and now with snow leopard. I have made some DVD's and the issues present on the TV screen as well.
imovie imports, compresses these pics too much and the result is poor on a lot of images. I'm not sure imovie can handle the amount of colour, or isn't equipped to do so. Pixelation and gradations, particulary similar colours. Skies, sunsets etc are the biggest offenders Whatever the case it is a big dissapointment. iphoto to a quicktime movie is fine quality wise but has its limitations with adding transitions, titles, music etc.
Please apple, lets have a fix. imovie06HD was fantastic - what went wrong here?

My ipod touch works very well accessing the you-tube using the factory built in browser[you-tube widget].
I tried to go to the you-tube account of mine logging on through the google account using the safari.-No problem in getting to my account.
However once I am in my you-tube account and when tried to play my favourites [selection of clips], I am prompted to down-load the "Adobe Flash Drive" to play my favourites.
To cut the long story short, I could not play my favourites through this route.
This is a big dissapointment.
Has anybody with a solution to play your favourites from the You-Tube account on your iPod Touch?/

iPod touch does not play flash, there is no plugin or program to do so.
The youtube widget takes you to a customized version-where the videos are encoded in h.264 for viewing on the iPhone/Touch. Not all the videos have been encoded for the site.
Who knows what will happen once the SDK comes out.

My iTunes doesn't open after the update, what's going on?

I see a lot of people having the same issue, I wish the old iTunes come back, I can't even star my new iTunes, big dissapointment because I use it daily.

ITunes doesn't communicate with Nano

I have tried forfive days to get my Nano to work... I always get the same error message saying that iTunes cannot comunicate with the iPod and that I have to install it again. I also get an error in the iPod updater. I already tried everything in the troubleshooting here and I called tech support too, I even exchanged the nano for a new one... still I get the same exact error message. I have no idea what to do! I've wanted an iPod ever since it came out and now that I have it it's such a big dissapointment! Please help

So, how do I unhide and subsequently delete songs from iCloud? (help...)

I have been trying to sort my 25k+ library in the last few weeks (1243 purchaced from iTunes store and approx. 23,000 from my 20-years collection). After I managed to bring it to a healthy status it terms of artist name, song title, genre, album etc. they only thing that was annoying me was the album artwork. Before the new enhanced 'Find Artwork' feature in iTunes 11, I had used other third-party apps from the app store that they are supposed to find almum cover images...BUT the vast majority was "not good".
So, I concluded that a nice and neat solution would be to remove my entire 25k songs collection from my iTunes library (stored localy on my iMac) and from my iTunes match (store on i Cloud) and re-insert the songs, after of course I kept a backup.
My suspicions started when the message I got was "hide from iCloud" and not "delete from iCloud?" instead (iTunes 11.0.1).
I thought "they must have just rephrased the message in the new update", believing that the result would be, as anticipated, to actually remove the songs from iCloud, so I could continue with my plan... and therefore I clicked OK.
The big dissapointment was when I re-inserted my songs. None of the songs can now be detected and uploaded/matched in iTunes match, not even the the purchaced ones. All of my songs iCloud status is "Exceeded Limit".
I would like to know how I can a) unhide my songs that currenlty "lurk" on iCloud under my account and b) once I reveal them, to permanently remove them from my iCloud accound space, so I can re-insert my songs and get I nice complete (with artwork) library.
Please help!

It think that that change from delete to hide is purely a change in phraseology. I don't believe that tracks were ever deleted and remained on the apple server. When you readd a previously uploaded track that you have deleted, match does not go through usual upload process - it immediately recognises that track as previously uploaded.
I have 38k tracks, around 23,500 matched /uploaded and 7.5k purchased. I also have around 8k with removed status. The removed tracks have previously been uploaded and deleted by creating a second blank library on which match has been activated to show only music in the cloud.
The fact that I have over 8k hidden track does not affect match - I am told that I have around 31k in the cloud including purchased songs.
I thing that your problem results from match thinking that you have more music than you really have. I had to sign out of match to clear a 4002 error. When I signed back in my library was scanned and I ended up with "exceeded limit" error. Previously I was able correct by restoring my library from a time machine back. Did not work this time as the 4002 error returned.
I noticed that the cloud status for "hidden" track were still shown as removed - none changed their status.
So I opened my second library that showed me that I still had less than 25k non purchased tracks.
My initial thought was that match was counting purchased tracks in limit. So I decided to delete around 7k tracks from second library to preserve play counts etc.
I went back into my main library and signed back into match. I now had 15k tracks with remove status leaving around 23k to be matched.
The match process to around three hours to complete. However, match told me that I had around 24.5k tracks in the cloud, not the 23k expected.
I found out that around 1500 tracks had been duplicated - the second track was only in the cloud I.e it showed download arrow. After deleting duplicates I gradually readded the "removed" tracks, small number at a time. Whilst this was time consuming the actual match process was quick because match remembered previous cloud status.
My library is now back to where I want it but I have deliberately kept non- purchased content to around 23k
Normally I keep signed into match but had another error forcing me to signout and sign back in. This time I was surprised how quick my library was restored.
During this process I found that a small number of track that were previously match were now uploaded even though files were match AAC. Some purchase may become matched or uploaded.

Nokia E5-00 alarm too loud

Other than this one bug, the E5-00 is awesome!
BUT: No matter what alarm sound I set, it is always VERY loud! I can hear it 2 rooms across... Even if I manually edit an mp3 file for it to be a lower volume, my E5-00 automatically makes it the same loudness...
Anyone managed to "cure" this? Thanks!

Since a phone is so much more than just a phone too most people, it should at least be a good, simple alarm clock. Every quartz watch since the eighties has had one. The volume problem for the E5 is not only annoying for the whole family and for my neighbours (I need to wake up at 5:30 every day !), it is just such a terrible way to wake up every day. For a phone with every feature possible, this is a very big dissapointment. Frankly this is a big dealbreaker that made me change my phone-card back to the old Samsung. A shame fore a 300+ Euro phone.
