Big,irritating bug in

I 'switched to Mac' in 2012. I like it a lot but there are some huge discrepancies Theres a big bug that is very irritating in Preview app of 10.8
I read scanned Ocr ed texts a lot as pdf. Whenever i try to highlight multi column text in pdf , the highlights are not complete . But when i do that in Google Chrome's native pdf reader, the highlight is totally nice and proper. I have tried to select text using Option +select button , no improvement . Please see the image below. On left is Preview app, with incomplete selection of a pdf page(see it has left two paragraphs ) but on right , Chrome has done it nicely.Adobe reader also does it nicely . But I like using Preview app becauseChrome's and adobe's pdf readers arenot as fast as preview app from Apple.
What is the solution to highlight full paragraphs in Preview app without encountering this bug ,People ?
OCR software used is : Adobe Acrobat Pro.It OCRes perfectly and the files are properly marked in Windows too

I just recreated this problem on my iMac (wired KB, no wireless KB) by changing Mail > Preferences > Composing > Spellcheck from "as I type" to "never". Then type a contraction ending in 're and the space bar causes the cursor to jump back as others have stated, to the spot 'r|e
Next, I went into System Preferences > Keyboard > Text, and turned off "use smart quotes" and the problem went away again.
From this point (smart quotes off, spell checking never), if I turn Smart Quotes ON, the problem returns.
The problem is dependent on the state of both settings.
The spacebar in Mail "works" if I have either of the following setting combinations:
Keyboard: smart quotes OFF, Mail: check spelling ANY SETTING
Keyboard: smart quotes ON, Mail: check spelling AS I TYPE
Other combinations FAIL
Keyboard: smart quotes ON, Mail: Check spelling NEVER
Keyboard: smart quotes ON, Mail: Check Spelling WHEN I CLICK SEND
Looks to me like there's a bug in Mail > Preferences > Check spelling > NEVER and WHEN I CLICK SEND that interacts badly with Keyboard > Smart quotes ON.

Irritating bug: playback final cut loses sync after quicktime export

this bug is bothering me for years already, and with every update i hope it will be fixed, but no.
everytime i export a quicktime (file/export/using quicktime conversion) final cut loses its sync in playback. then i have to restart fcp and the sync is ok again.
it's not a big problem, but it's irritating, especially when i have a director sitting next to me.
did anybody ever have this problem also? how can we ask apple to fix this?

Exporting what? And why? You mean each time you export something FCP stops working properly?

It's a huge problem, obviously. But I think your workflow is more at fault. You havent' explained why you must export something or to what format so it's difficult to know where to point you for debugging this for you.
did anybody ever have this problem also? how can we ask apple to fix this?

I don't have this issue and I export something form my timelines often, either as still images or to provide myself with a prerendered movie that I can reimport.

Big hugly bugs!

All of you that use catalyst have probalby noticed that it likes from time to time to just, without any explanation, close. It's ok as long if it asks you if you want to recover the file you were working on. Nonetheless i would advise to at least pronpt the user before quiting or something like that ( it does some times, but mostly just closes with no explanation). Maybe it's because i'm on Vista 64bits, dunno, it's just really anoying.
Another bug i'd like to report, if you can call it a bug, it's that catalyst loves to drag around and takes forever in simple requests, from entering a component, or choosing a layer....it's just plain anoying!

We improved the performance and memory usage of Catalyst quite a bit from beta I to beta II, and since then we have continue working in these areas, so you should see improvements with the next release. Sorry to hear you have been crashing with beta II. In the meanwhile, you can keep Catalyst going as fast as possible by:
1. Converting graphics to "optimized graphics"
2. Avoid too many top level states by converting parts of your design to custom components
3. Rasterize/flatten vector artwork in cases where the artwork doesn't need to resize

Irritating bugs in file upload component !!

Bug 1
During a postback operation the text (file path name) in the file upload component is cleared ! When a resubmit of a form is required, the user has to re-browse the file again.
Bug 2
The processValueChandge() method is never called when the value in the file upload component is changed (and the mouse is clicked outside the component).
Any suggestions or workarounds are very much appreciated.

The processValueChandge() method is never called when

processValueChange methods are server side methods and do not get called until the page is submitted to the server. Clicking outside the component will not cause the page to get submitted. If you want a client-side action (such as when focus is lost) then you can add some JavaScript.
The file upload does not have a process value change method, it is an action method and thus has a uploadFileButton_action method. This method gets called when the upload button is clicked.

          The above code displays "Hello" on the command line or Dos and "jsp executed" on the browser!
          When this jsp is loaded first time it executes correctly. when it is again loaded then jsp init method is not executed. This is also fine.
          But the problem is when I restart my weblogic server and clear the browser cache and then load the jsp file then the init method is called TWO times! "Hello" is displayed two times!
          why this is so? Is there any bug in weblogic5.1? Or am I doing something wrong? please tell


          You hit the JSP and the .class file gets loaded into memory and jspInit() executes. Fine.
          Once loaded into memory, the next thing the JSP does is check if it 'isStale()' -
          this compares the date-stamp that was on the .jsp file when the jsp was compiled
          with the date-stamp on the .jsp file on disk. This is in the code of the JSP itself, it
          does not compare the date of the .class file with the date of the .jsp file - so it was
          necessary to load the JSP in memory (an call jspInit()) simply to check the if it was
          up-to-date. In your case, it is not up-to-date. The JSP is compiled, loaded into
          memory and jspInit() executes - again.

Irritating bug in Firefox package...

Just to bring some attention to it... if you press the apostrophe or "/" key, the "find" bar pops up at the bottom of the window. I've never seen this in any other distro.
(Also, the Firefox package crashes more than Firefox usually does... So for now I think I'd recommend using the port instead.)

that's not a bug, that's a "feature", it's sort of new.
Firefox doesn't crash here, if it's related to flash then try with a clean config (Firefox is hardly backward compatible with it's config, sad as it is).

Irritating bugs in Lenovo P780

I have a 8GB Lenovo P780 phone model no P780_ROW and Android 4.2.1 build no P780_8G_ROW_S123_131231. I am happy overall with my purchase but there are a few irritiating bugs.
Calendar is buggy. I have synced my calendar to three accounts and the stock calendar shows wrong time compared to the desktop. Also the ToDo alert gives alert at wrong times ex: i get an alert at 6 AM for an event scheduled at 8:30 with alert time set to 15 mins. And the events are not sorted by time and hence very difficult to understand
The stock email app does not mark Office 365 exchange emails as read when i read them on the device
Any thing i can do short of using alternate apps?

Hi. my p780 is running on 4.4.2 KitKat build p780_ROW-S227_141121. I do not get email repeat alerts - it sounds only once for an incoming mail and then is silent for any number of mails until I open the mail box. Then the next mail is alerted and subsequent are silent. Maddeningly, I miss out on mails leading to embarassment as this is also my official mail device. Anyone has a solution to this?

Safari big refresh bug on a heavy website

I'm a webdesigner and integrator. One of my last project has a big issue on Safari (works perfectly on Google Chrome, IE, Firefox) : www.agedordujeuvideo.fr
The entrance shows up, but as soon as you slide after the 2d section, everything disappear. If you hover some active link, pictures blink.
The website uses lot of pictures, some quite big, some PNG, JPEG.
Tested on latest Safari version on both a Macbook Pro and a PC running Windows Vista.

Flash update Jan 2014 in Chrome CSS Border-radius BIG TIME bug !

Several days ago Chrome updated its Flash player to version 12 and it introduced a bug somewhere.
Setting border-radius to a flash object will make it vanish.

It works on Firefox with flash player 12, it also works on Chrome with flash player 11, but it stopped working several days ago when FP 12 was added to chrome.

Outlines keep moving on CS5 Mac - this a big problem/bug

In Preview mode when I use the arrows to step up/down the weight (line thickness) a horizontal line will steadily shuffle down so the top edge remains the same and the actual line shifts down. When you step down the line thickness the bottom edge stays the same and shuffles down.
A vertical line is similar - but shifts left/right.
Any other angle and it works correctly - ie the line stays in its position but gets thicker evenly on both sides.
On one document I also see differences between the position of a line in preview mode and outline mode.
This is a big problem as illustrations are being corrupted.

I wasn't using pixel preview - just normal preview.
It makes me uncomfortable not trusting illustrator to preserve the integrity of the underlying vector drawing and using the preview to make the pixel perfect corrections. Letting the rendering move the underlying drawing is worrying.
Firing up Illustrator - choosing new web document preset and then having the linework jump around is very disconcerting when the behaviour is hidden in the object rather than in the 'snap to' options in the menu. Wouldn't it have made sense to have a 'snap to pixel grid' in the same menu as the 'snap to grid'?
Is there a way to toggle this behaviour on and off? Or is 'Align to pixel grid' hidden on the object 'Transform' panel the only way?

2 Big Preview Bugs Still Unfixed in 10.5.3

The 2 massive bugs in Preview, that I've pointed out before, are still not fixed in 10.5.3.
If you view a very high resolution image at anything less than 100% of its actual size, Preview does a very poor job of resampling it, giving a blurred look. Text in the image can look smeared, as if its had a vertical motion blur applied to it in Photoshop. Ironically, Quick Look can scale images perfectly. Bug.
If you Adjust the Colour of an image, and then Crop it, the adjustment is applied again. Every time you crop, the colour adjustments are applied on top of themselves. Bug.
For a platform so associated with imaging, I'm VERY surprised that these bugs have been around since October 2007. That's 7 months. Apple will probably never fix them now, making Preview an unnecessarily useless app.

The previous version of Preview, in Tiger, didn't have this blurry resampling problem. This is a new problem introduced by Leopard. There's an example image of the problem here:

I just think this is pretty unacceptable when you consider that Preview is the DEFAULT app for viewing images on a Mac. Macs are supposed to be the best for graphics. Yet the default app can't resample an image properly without blurring it.

I have a very big problem with my mac book pro. It continously looses the wifire connection. This happens every 5-10 minutes and is getting to be a very big irritation. I have tested my wifiresignal

I have testet the wifi signal and had my router checked - both are fine.

First you should check on another Wifi to see if it's your Lion machine.
If it only occurs on your Wifi, then perhaps you have local interference and need to set the router on another channel far from others.
You can install a free program called KisMAC that you set your Driver Preferences to Apple Airport Extreme Passive Mode, enter your Admin password and monitor your local Wifi signals, see if you cna pin point the cause of your interference or meddler.
If your not running WPA2 with AES and a 12 plus random character/letter/number password for both Admin and Internet access use only then you should seriously consider doing so.

I can't export .oam files any more. What gives? A big bad bug? Anyone got a work around?

I was doing great with Edge until last night...when the .oam publishing feature vanished. I'm pasting small animations into my Muse pages, so this was a great thing, in theory, anyway. Tried restarting the app, tried restarting the computer, always opened the .an doc to work on the project. Thing is, it works once in a while...like once in 20 tries. Why? What's the deal? This app just not ready for the real world yet?

A couple of questions:
Are you saving first? We don't allow publish for new, unsaved files. (It seems like you're working on an an file first)
Do you have any errors in the warnings panel? Look in the lower right hand corner in the Stage panel.
If neither of these are the case, please post your entire project file on a file sharing site so that we can take a look at what you're trying to do and advise you.

Another big hugly bug

Moving objects in the layers panel is really anoying. If you tell a layer to go beneath another layer it goes on top. if you pick and drag a layer every grouped object layer opens and everytime you stop moving a layer in the layers panel it resets and goes to a different position so you're oblidged to scroll to wherever you where before.
Not time saving and a huge pain in the ***!!!!!

Did it finish loading the iView files? If so check the size at the bottom. If it's still incorrect and extremely large try rebuilding the library, launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed, follow the instructions to rebuild the library, while selecting only the database option. That may clear up the problem.
I didn't note the size when I was importing my iView collection but iPhoto does reports the correct size now.
