Big Library wont allow itunes to open?

I have a huge library ( 62000 songs) and since the last update my itunes simply doesn`t open anymore. It keeps checking itunes library and then just crashes. HELP PLEASE!

That sounds more like your Library file (either the iTunes Library.itl or the iTunes Music Library.xml) has become corrupted.
You may have to bite the bullet and dump these files, which means re-importing everything.
Before trashing them and emptying the trash, I'd recommend copying them to a flash drive and THEN dumping the Library files.
If you can open iTunes and re-import everything, great. If not, put the original files back, and hopefully someone else will have more insight.

Is this a particular sender, or all of your attchments?  Google winmail.dat and you will see a number of returns that can explain this, but in short, this is the way some e mail providers deal with attachments.  If all of your e mail is coming that way, you need to change a setting on your isp set up.  Perhaps stary here...

  • ITunes match tries to match my library every time iTunes is opened.

iTunes match tries to match my library every time iTunes is opened.  This is on a Windows 8 PC.  So, every singe time I open iTunes, it tries to match the entire library even though it is all matched.  This takes up most of my internet bandwidth or whatever so basically I can't do anything else online while this is going on so, basically I can't use itunes. I tunes match works great on my iPad, iPhone etc.  And the library has been matched because all of my music pulls up on the iPad and iPhone fine.
Is there a way to set iTunes so that it will not automatically try to match every time I open it?
    Thannks!

That's probably it - "Never Register". I never had the problem, so never saw the message
There's no need to register iPods in iTunes, according to this article:
    http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/store/authorization/
    *+Do I need to authorize my iPods?+*
+No, you do not need to authorize your iPods. Your purchased music needs to be authorized on your computer before you copy it to your iPod. For more information on copying and playing your purchased music on your iPod, check out our iPod FAQ.+

  • Garageband wont allow me to open any of my songs to edit/play?

"The file couldn't be opened" is the message I get. Everything is up to date.  It has been doing this for a while now, and recently I was able to create two new songs(it randomally worked) and then when I went to close the last one and reopen the first one(of the two new ones)it wouldnt allow me to open it.  Or any of them for that matter, or create a new song either.  Any ideas?  I'm at my wits end with this whole mac programing thing.  I'm having this issue with my MBR and a duplicate picture problem on my iMac!

Where are your song? On an external drive or your system drive?
Do you remember, when this started? Did you install anything new at that time? Audio plug-ins? Update software? Did you run cleaner applications, like MacKeeper?
Justs in case this is a problem of failing hardware, is your backup of your system current? This may be a problem of a failing drive.
Try to narrow down the problem by making a few tests.
Can you save and open GarageBand projects on a different drive? For example thumbsdrive?
Can you open and save GarageBand projects when working from a different user account, see: Isolating an issue by using another user account
Can you open and save GarageBand projects when working in Safe Mode? See: Mac OS X: What is Safe Boot, Safe Mode?  and Mac OS X: Starting up in Safe Mode
Please report back, when you know, if a different drive, a different account, or safe boot mode change anything.

  • Itunes 11.1.5 update wont allow me to open the itunes store

I have tried to reinsall intunes several times and still doesnt work. Any suggestions?

Andrew, the troubleshooting basics are restart/reset/restore...have you tried any of these things?
The following kb may be uber-basic, but here it is anyway...

  • Data Execution Prevention will not allow iTunes to open.

This started when I plugged in my iPhone to update it.  Data Execution Prevention closed the program then, and I can't open it again.  I have completely deleted all Apple programs from my computer.  I deleted all temporary files, defraged my hard drive, ran virus protection, restarted my computer and downloaded iTunes 10.0 AGAIN for at least the 10th time.  It always appears to install correctly, but when iTunes is supposed to open afterthe install tool closes, I get the "iTunes has stopped working. Winidows is checking for a solution" message.  Then Windows automaticly closes iTunes and I get the message that DEP has closed iTunes.
Prior to trying to update my iPhone (which started all this) I was running iTunes 9.  I never had any problems with it.  (Is there somewhere I could go to download this version?)
At the moment, I do not have Quicktime installed because I deleted it, and it was not installed the last time I installed iTunes.  iTunes still will not open.
I enabled myself as administrator, and moved other users to "Standard" in the Vista User Account Control.
I am using Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit.  Apple only gives the option of installing the 64-bit version of iTunes.
Is this just a bug in the iTunes update, or what.  I would really appreciate any help I could get with this.  I have been reading suggestions and solution on these boards for the past 2 days, and nothing has worked so far.
    Thanks!

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
If you've already tried a complete uninstall and reinstall try opening iTunes in safe mode (hold down CTRL+SHIFT as you start iTunes) then going to Edit > Preferences > Store and turning off Show iTunes in the Cloud purchases. You may find iTunes will now start normally.

  • I am getting a runtime error message that won't allow itunes to open when I plug in my ipod.  Any suggestions?? I already rebooted my computer.  It worked fine yesterday.

I am getting a run time error message that I've never seen before, it won't allow me to connect my ipod touch with windows.  It says:  An application has made an attempt to load the C runtime library incorrectly.
I have no idea what this means but it was working fine yesterday when I connected it.
I have rebooted my computer and nothing has been fixed.

    Did you do this:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8

  • I updated to iTunes 10.5 on Vista. As with iTunes 10.0, The DEP will not allow iTunes to open.  WHEN IS APPLE GOING TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE?  I can't update my telephone or iPod.  I can't even open the iTunes program!!!

I am sick of dealing with this issue.  I wish not that I had never even started using any Apple products, beginning with iTunes.  WHEN IS APPLE GOING TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE AND MAKE ITUNES SOMEHOW COMPATIBLE WITH DEP IN WINDOWS VISTA?
That being said, Is there any way to resolve this?  What I did in the past is completely wipe ALL Apple files from my computer, and install an older version of iTunes.  It was at least functional.  It seems that any version of iTunes 10.0 or more recent is not compatible with the Data Execution Prevention in Windows.  You can not remove iTunes from DEP, yet DEP prevents iTunes from running.
The down side is that I can't get the latest updates for my iPhone or iPod.  Now, I have a new phone for my husband that needs syncing on my iTunes, and I can't do that because iTunes won't even open.
Can somebody help me out with this, please?

OK, lets do a complete overhaul to make sure it's working ok.
First to check your Windows system file for any corruption:
Go to command prompt (START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES right mouse click "command prompt" and choose "Run as Administrator"
    type in
    sfc /scannow
let Windows fix any system files that need to be repaired.
    Restart the computer.
Start iTunes and see if it is ok.
If it doesn't, will have to go through the whole process of uninstalling and installing acccording to the following steps:
    1. Go to Microsoft website to fix install and Unistall problems. Click "Run now" from Fix it to remove all iTunes & related installer files:
    http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall
Be aware that Windows Installer CleanUp Utility will not remove the actual program from your computer. However, it will remove the installation files so that you can start the installation, upgrade, or uninstall over.
    2. You should remove all instances of iTunes and the rest of the components listed below:
it may be necessary to remove all traces of iTunes, QuickTime, and related software components from your computer before reinstalling iTunes.
Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order:
    iTunes
    QuickTime
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
(Referenceinstructions from Apple article listed here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923 to remove all components)
    3. Reboot your computer. Next, download iTunes from here:http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ and install from scratch

  • Why wont my itunes store open

I sign in, but cant open itunes store. The progress bar at the top says accessing itunes, but only goes about half way and stops. I have uninstalled and reinstalled itunes 10 a couple of times.

    Close your iTunes,
    Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
    (Win XP SP2 & above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
    netsh winsock reset
    Hit "ENTER" key
    Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

It says: To help Protect you computer, Windows has closed this program.
Is that a Data Execution Prevention (DEP) message?
If so, try updating your QuickTime Player to the most recent version. Does that clear up the DEP errors in iTunes?

  • Quicktime update will not allow itunes to open

I have updated  quciktime as instructed and I can no longer access or even open my itunes?  Any fixes?

The Quicktime version for Power Mac with OS 10.5.8 should be QT 7.6.4
    anything newer will cause problems.
Why did you upgrade QT, was there a problem?
Also for the future, set automatic updates  to off in system preferences.

  • SO8 Prod Update 2 installs but wont allow prog to open

I've dowonloaded 120187-02.zip for Windows and installed it on my machine. After an apparently successful update I go to launch Writer (or any programme) to get an error message which reads ...
    The application cannot be started.
Configuration - descendant Element 'CrashReporter' not found in Node
    /org.openoffice.Office.Recovery
I'm using XP Pro svs pack 2
AMD ATHLON 64 XA DUAL CORE PROCESSOR 3800+
    2.00GHZ 1.00GB RAM

I Have noticed this on machines that update from update 1 to update 2...the solution is
as follows. Uninstall Update two from Add/Remove programs. Run the add/remove from the add/remove for Star Office, or the installer from the original disk...and choose "repair" option...let it do the repair....then install the update 2 and it will work. I have noticed that you can install update 2 on a new intallation of Star Office, but if it already has Update 1 in...it's messed up and will give this error....
I have also noticed that if you UNINSTALL update 1 first...then put in update 2, it will cleanly install.
This must be a bug...but you'll get it working again following the procedure above

  • HT4864 incoming mail server wont allow me to alter info

I've upgraded to Mountain Lion & am pulling my hair out over so many things!!
All of a sudden, my iCloud mail isn't working... so I went into the account setting to see what was wrong there and found that the 'incoming mail server' box was not filled ?? why ??
Now if i want to add the correct incoming details, that box/field wont allow me to open it to enter the info !!???  So how the heck can I make the change to fix it??  Then when I want to get out of it & say 'save changes' it tells me that the 'incoming server' field cannot be left empty !! aarrgghhhhhh

This issue has been posted on several discussions, but the best answer I have receieved is to delete the account, and enter it again. We have several computers that have been updated from 10.7 to 10.8 in the house. We want to simply change the name of the mailbox, but also can not edit the Incoming Mail Server for iCloud. Deleting the mailbox, and creating it from scratch is NOT an option, since we been using it for years, and have it full of email.  Does anyone have a real option for this problem that was introduced when we upgraded from 10.7 to 10.8?
    Thank,
    Steve
