Big photo made of many small that-photo-parts
Hi,
Sorry if my question is stupid - I am new to Apple and iLife. Today I have received iLife 06 ad from apple by email, and there is shown a big photo of Golden Gates at San Francisco (I think), which is made of many small photos. How can I do the same with my photos with iLife? Or I should use any other software?

What you are seeking is software to construct a photo-mosaic. I'm sure there are several applications you could find that can do the job. You might want to start with the freeware MacOSaiX. It's pretty straightforward as to choosing your source image (the image that will be constructed from other photo elements) and the source(s) for the mosaic elements. It may take some time to get a feel for the "tile size" and number of tiles to use to contruct the final image however. Start small and experiment until you achieve a result you like.

Ok I am trying to create multicam clips from a shoot. I have 198 clips from two to three cameras and an audio source. I have created multicam clips in the past by simply putting them all into one bin, selecting all, right click, Create multicam source sequence, and then it processes them and creates multicam clips for me to use to edit.
I am doing that process now to only have PP make one really big clip instead of a bunch of little ones. Help!And the other thing I think of is that you opened up the multicamera sequence as a New Sequence From Clip, instead of Open in Timeline.
That would give you one long flat sequence, but 198 panels if you opened it in your multicamera monitor -
How to break big video file into many small ones?
I have a 1-hour long video file (miniDV), recorded on tape with timecode but without timecode markers between individual clips (that is, I cannot scene detect capture it). How do I best go about accurately breaking it up into individual video files on my disc?
1) capture it, drag it into Timeline, cut into clips there, manually copy-paste the in-out data into a batch list. Takes lots of time.
or
2) capture it, open it in Source Window, make subclips, export the batch list. The problem here is that the timecode in the original file is weird, starting at 08;06;40;01, and all the subclips inherit it. Otherwise, it would probably take less time than option (1).

Thank you!I don't understand how you can have timecode that won't allow you to use it to tell (something like scenalzer) to split on capture or whatever. Just curious.
Scene capture for DV footage isn't dependent on timecode, it's dependent on datecode/time-of-day (TOD) information written onto the tape. I've run into this problem before when the internal battery on a DV camera was dead, and so the internal TOD generator didn't function; the same time and date was written on every single frame, making it impossible to use automatic scene detection.
Here's another option: drop your clip into a sequence, and split it (using the razor and trimming tools) where you want scene breaks. Be sure to trim at least a couple of frames off of either the tail of the outgoing clip or the head of the incoming clip. When done, go to Project > Project Manager, and use the "Create New Trimmed Project" option. Uncheck the "Include Handles" option, set your destination and hit OK. Premiere will create shorter trimmed versions of the original clip in the destination you specify, and also create a new project file that points to those trimmed versions; there is no quality loss, so don't worry about that. You can either use the generated project, or just import the split clips into a new project. -
How do I retrieve videos made on my iPad that I accidentally deleted by removing them from from my photo stream?
Photos/videos in the Camera Roll are not synced. Photos/videos in the Camera Roll are not touched with the iTunes sync process. Photos/videos in the Camera Roll can be imported by your computer which is not handled by iTunes. Most importing software includes an option to delete the photos/videos from the Camera Roll after the import process is complete. If is my understanding that some Windows import software supports importing photos from the Camera Roll, but not videos. Regardless, the import software should not delete the photos/videos from the Camera Roll unless you set the app to do so.
Photos/videos in the Camera Roll are included with your iPhone's backup. If you synced your iPhone with iTunes before the videos on the Camera Roll went missing and you haven't synced your iPhone with iTunes since they went missing, you can try restoring the iPhone with iTunes from the iPhone's backup. Don't sync the iPhone with iTunes again and decline the prompt to update the iPhone's backup after selecting Restore. -

Many small purchases, or one big one?
Hello, I'm actually really new to the credit world and just got two cards, a Chase Freedom and a Discover IT for Students. I want to get started building my credit and increasing my credit limit. I realize it's a slow process, (and maybe getting two cards at once wasn't the best idea) but I want to make sure I don't needlessly slow down this process.
My main question is, are many small purchases in a month better than just one big one, or does it even matter?For Example…

Discover IT CL: $1000I was hoping to use these cards to make payments on my tuition. If every month I only spend a $200 payment from my Discover card, is that better or worse than just buying 20 items at $10 apiece?Again though, the ultimate goal is to increase my CL and CS.Great cards to start on. I wish I had gotten two in college. I just graduated and got my second. Like others have said, the amount of charges doesn't matter as long as you keep your overall and individual util at or under 30% which you would be doing at the charges you're describing. if need be, don't shy away from making multiple payments in a month to keep your util low while using the cards as much as you like (responsibly, and within your need/ability of course) while earning the rewards. When I double click on a photo opened in events I get a black question mark in stead of the big photo.
subsequently the slide show does not show pictures. I hope anyone knows if I have may be changed a setting?Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Include the option to check and repair Library permissions

Ever since installing iCloud and Lion my computer is slow or freezes. The color wheel comes on and My work stops. I have only a small window of time where my computers will function normally during the day. I know many others that have the same problem. I'll get 20-30 minutes of work done and then a sync or something comes on, the color wheel of death shows up, and my productivity is shot. I have to shut the computer down the hard way! when it comes back up, it is still either frozen or slow. I've checked in at the genius bar and all they say is that there have been some problems that Apple is trying to fix. It effects Mail, Contacts, Safari, Calendar....yeah, pretty much everything. My iPhone and iPad are not effected as much so I end up doing what I can with them. I've seen the blogs out there and understand that many have the same problem. I have been waiting to read about a fix but I have found nothing! Any ideas?
Not enough free space on the startup disk can slow the system down.
Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. Make sure there's a minimum of 15% free disk space.
For startup issues... open System Preferences > Users & Groups - Login Items. Delete any apps listed there then restart your mac.
And disable the Lion "resume" feature.
Open System Preferences > General
Deselect: Restore windows when quitting and re-opening apps
And Spotlight may be indexing... you can turn that off > Turning Off Spotlight | Mac Tricks And Tips -
Seems to me this is a bunch of self serving crap. I have many small cameras that don't do this, in the same specs.

I have many projects made in imovie HD that are not updating to iMovie 10 on my new iMac. Why is this not working as stated on the article HT202853? How do I get my projects back from backup after old iMac crashed?

you can update from iMovie versions 7, 8 and 9, but iMovie HD is iMovie 6.
Maybe you can update in two steps, first from iMovie 6 to iMovie 7, 8 or 9 then to iMovie 10.

I would simply like to use the same e-mail address to use the sync option. After using an incorrect e-mail, I deleted that account. I am now getting an error message that states I have made too many attempts to create an account using the e-mail that I wanted to use. Thank you.

I'd like to remove a thin line that is part of the page design in one of Aperture's photo books. I can't seem to make it happen. Any suggestions?
The mouse that came with my Mac does not have a right click feature. When I try to highlight and click, it just opens the link I don't want anymore. What I want to do is remove unwanted links from the top bar. For example, I no longer use GoodSearch or myEarthLink, but I can't delete them. There are also some links that never should have found their way up there, and I don't know how they ended up there, and I can't remove them either. I've read through a ton of questions and answers, and I can't find one that addresses the problem. With my Safari browser, all I have to do to remove an unwanted link is to click and drag it to the trash. It doesn't appear to work that way with Firefox, to my chagrin. I hope this better explains my question. Maybe that will give you a better insight into a solution.

What is the intended way to organize a big photo library?
What is a good workflow using iphoto and or aperture to work with a big photo library involving NAS? Local hard drives are becoming overly taxed with the amount of data from high res pictures. I have to mention I am just an average photo amateur not a Pro. The possibilty of sharing the library between users in the family would be great too.
One can't use an iPhoto or Aperture library on a NAS. The NAS doesn't support the file system used in those libraries and will corrupt the library.
To handle larger libraries or share usage of a library between users in the family put the library on an external hard drive formatted OS X Extended (journaled) with ownership set to be ignored,
connect the drive to a desktop or host Mac and run the library from there and let the other users either connect from their Macs to the host to access the EHD or access it from their account on the host Mac.
The bottom line: NAS is verbotten, i.e. a big NO NO!

I have to send large files like 5MB or biger via mobile phone, but in that cases phone is telling mi to plug in power. And when I do that, there is no problem to send the file. For smaller files there is no problem. How can I solve the problem? Because when I'm not at home I can't plug in the power.

Alu 2s fails at copying many small files
Hi,
when I transfer big files I get nice speeds and have no problems around 80MB/S)
But then I wanted to backup my mail directory that contains many small (few kb) email files - around 40.000
Speed drops to like 5MB/S. I know it's supposed to drop with small files but this seems a bit extreme.
When copying is done, the LED keeps flashing.
When I try to copy a larger file afterwars, the speed is around 1mb/s.
The LED keeps blinking even when no files are transferred.
When I force unmount the drive and reconnect, many files are filled with null's, so obviously it didn't complete the writing process properly.
I waited over 30mins but the LED keeps blinking, software unmount doesn't work in this state.
Is this like, a known bug? It's really nerving.
