Big problem..files have dissapeared.. and itunes libary damaged!

hey every one. this is my first Mac and im not too good at using it to start with.
but it seems that my files, mainly pictures and music files, have dissapeared. also my itunes libary went, and when i go to click on the libary file, it makes a new one called "damaged 1" 2.. 3.. and so on.
its pretty annoying when i dont know how to fix these computers, and when all your music from years of collecting it has gone..
so if any one had any ideas, i would be really greatful, as im so lost and im missing listening to my music.. justgot a new iopd.. and cant use it! doh!

Songs have dissapeared, and iTunes doesn't recognize it.

This happened so fast, it makes absolutely no sense.
For the beginning of the day, my 1GB ipod was completely normal.
Then later, I turned it on, got the usual menu screen with all the selections, went to my songs, and it was just a blank screen with a bar at the top that said "all".
I tried plugging it into my laptop and itunes acted like it had never seen the ipod in its life, but asked if I wanted to sync all the songs on that itunes to it. I somehow decided to let it do that to see if it'd fix the problem, but it just went through a process and then said this message "The iPod "JENNIFER'S" cannot be synced. An unknown error occured (-48)."
So then I was frantic. It looked like it had somehow lost all of its information, even its identity.
But then I tried it on the desktop computer, another place I normally hook it up. It ALSO acted like it couldn't understand my ipod, but something else happened that usually did on that particular computer. I usually get a folder that pops up explaining what's in the newly connected device, and it had a small collection of the usual random stuff, including TWO SONGS ready to play in windows media player. That has always showed up. And if that computer acknowledged it, it makes me think all the stuff is still on there, I just can't get to it.
I tried resetting a number of times. It did nothing.
Should I just restart the settings, however that is done, and start from scratch, or is there hope?

I accidentally deleted my whole i tune library. I was able to retrieve the entire library, but all my play lists have dissapeared and iTunes says that my ipod is not synced with this computer. Can i sync my playlists from my ipod to my itunes?

i accadentally deleted my entire library (over 10,000 song) when i was trying to delete an old back up file off an external hard drive. Now when i open I Tunes and connect my ipod, a message says tht my ipod is not synced with this computer. This is the only computer this ipod has ever been synced to, so i don't know how to reconnect the two. I was able to restore all my music to the itunes library, but I lost all my playlists. I spent considerable time creating the playlists and they are stll on my ipod. Can I somehow sync in a way that my ipod can give the computer my play lists?

With your iPod connected to iTunes right->click on it's device name in the left hand pane of iTunes under devices and select Export Playlists.

I know it can be frustrating when you are waiting for content to download to your iPhone from the iTunes Store. There are a few steps I would recommend in this situation. Please read over and follow the steps in the attached article.

If your download was interrupted using your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
From the Home screen, tap the iTunes app.
For iPhone or iPod touch, tap More > Downloads. For iPad, tap Downloads.
Enter your account name and password if prompted.
Tap the blue download arrow to resume.
If you can't complete the download on your iOS device, you can download it in iTunes on your Mac or PC and then sync it to your iOS device. You can also transfer purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer.

You need to ask Apple to reset your security questions; this can be done by clicking here and picking a method, or if your country isn't listed, filling out and submitting this form.
They wouldn't be security questions if they could be bypassed without Apple verifying your identity.

Hi has anyone had a problem with windows 7n and Itunes...My Itunes was working now wont open says files missing reinstall...which I have done several times also other programs that were working now have error message your side by side configuration isnt correct any ideas!!!

Yes, I am also having trouble with my windows 7n. I tried to install the download but it didn't have 32 bit for my computer and I don't think it will help me see my phone on my external devices. I can't transfer my photos. Any help would be appreciated.

Problems with Mail, Safari and iTunes after updating to 10.5.6

after installing 10.5.6 I have problems with Mail, Safari and iTunes.
The time to open mails, websides and iTunes store is increasing dramatically since the update. If I open a webside parallel with Safari and Firefox, Safari needs minimum 15 times longer to open the complete side. Mails containing HTML-code also needs a long time to be opened. Tha same Problem with iTunes store. Connecting to the Store costs at least 30 - 40 seconds. And unfortunately for every iTunes store side I open. Its terrible
Any idea or workaroung to solve that problem?

First, run Disk Utility and repair permissions and then restart.
I installed the 10.5.6 Combo update. Sometimes things get "lost in the translation" when you use Software Update depending on your installation. Perhaps you can download 10.5.6 Combo from the website and install it from your desktop.

When i try to open the itunes store in itunes,windows closes it after not finding a solution for the problem.I have uninstalled and reinstalled the Itunes software. I am running Win 7-with IE10-any help?

When I selected the Itunes store on my win PC today-the program was closed by windows with windows saying there was a problem. I tried a couple of times and then uninstalled the itunes software and reinstalled it with the same results. The program has always worked before but I have not used it recently since the Ipad now receives it's software updates right off the router. I am running Win 7 with IE10. i recedntly had a lot of problems with my comp and had to get it wiped, when i was back up and running i had to reinstall my itunes, for a start all my music (5 days worth!!!) were doubled, which took me hours and hours to sort (major headaches) finally got my libary how i wanted it, so i connected my ipod to sync it with my ipod and now i am getting a message saying "songs on the ipod 'my name' cannot be synced because all of the playlists selected for syncing no longer exsist" ..... what??? i dont have any playlists i just have all the songs in my libary and now none on my ipod!!!!

Too many files in Music and ITunes folders

I'm backing up my computer and found that the Music folder had 80gb of music. Theres my space issue I've been trying to solve.
In our home we have two iPod Touches and two iPhones. We have three different libraries and two different apple accounts.
It has a copy of the music in all the different libraries along with the original in the Music folder.
I need help simplifying my folders. Does it have to copy each file to each library? What files can I delete without causing issues? The iTunes library ones?
And once these folders are trimmed down, how can I prevent this from happening again?

I'm not having an issue sharing the music, that's already set up. The problem is that everyone's own pod/phone has it's own folder with the music files in it that itunes saves to when we add songs. At some point I must have checked it to "organize" albeit make lots of copies of the same files.
For instance, I'll have an album by Tom Petty.
That file will be in my Public/Music folder, as well as Public/Music/Itunes Library 1, 2, and 3. Cause my iphone/ipod has it's own sync/set up, as do the others in the family.
I want to delete this excess, but all of the files in my itunes library are pointing to those specific libraries (within the public music folder), so if I went in and deleted, it looks like I'll bjork my library.
But I don't want to have the Tom Petty albums saved four times on my pc. I want to keep our own libraries, I'm not interested in having all the Camp Rock soundtracks on my phone, but I don't want the music saved so many times.
How would I do this? And begin to remove all these files to a more reasonable folder size?

Sync problem on iPhone4 IOS5 and iTunes 10.5: Sync service failed to start

After painful upgrade to IOS 5.0 on my iPone 4 which suffer from er 3014 unt I do full restore in other computer. Now two new problems cropped up again:
A.
When I sync IPhone with iTunes, the sync process started and freeze at "waing f sync service to start" and for 5 minutes or so, it end up with a dialog stated that the iPhone could not be synced because sync service failed to start
To remedy, I have to click t start Sync again, and thios time, it will be completed.
To solve tjhis, I have done the following, and the probelm still persist:
a. Reinstal,l to repair iTunes
b. Delete the Lockup folder
c. Reset sync history
d. reboot iPhone
All cannot solve the problem. Help please, how to solve this problem?
Also, when I backup my iPhone, it freeze at "Backing up iPhone" fr about 10-15 minutes, then start backup, until nearly finished, then it restart backup process again by itself, and again, freezing at "Backing up iPhone" for another 5 minutes, then it start backup and complete. I check the backup time in Preferences, it's correct.
To solve this, I delete the backup, and start new backup, the process went OK. But when I start backup again, the above symptom (backing up, and restart backup again to complete) persist
I have quite a rough experiences with iTunes-iPhone-iPad sync and backup all the times. Can the sync and backup process mad better and real trouble free Apple?
Help and suggestion please. I sync iPhone and iPad2 with WIndow XP PC. iPad2 do not have problem. The problem is with iPhone4 IOS 5 32 GB (less than 2 GB free space on iPhone remains)

I have very similar problems with my brand new iPhone and iTunes. iTunes is virtually unusable even after multiple installs, uniinstalls, and reinstalls. Sync fails silently. Drop-down menus won't stay visible long enough to click any options. Phone-support blames it on the fact that I use Windows XP however the iTunes page says right there: "iTunes 10.5 for Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7". The only program I have problems with is iTunes.
He said I have to revert to iOS 4 but he also said he thought that was impossible. What does the OS on my phone have to do with the behavior of iTunes running on my computer? iTunes crashed and had failures both before and after I updated to iOS 5. Typical bad tech support just like every other company. I thought Apple was different. Apple really stepped in it this time and it stinks. I've seen a huge number of new problem reports here and elsewhere.

Big problem with Airport Extreme and Vivax Provider in Brazil

Hello guys.
I live in Brazil and I bought my Airport Extreme in a recent trip to USA.
For some years I was a client of Telefonica and had an ADSL link, I had a D'Link G604T to do both the modem and router operation in the same box. I was happy with my connection of 1Mbps.
In a recent promotion of Vivax I switched to a cable connection to have both TV and Internet at the same operator, my link now has 3Mbps.
With this pack I also received free one RCA cable modem model DCM425B, it was installed fine in one computer only. Everything was fine my connection was faster the old one.
So I went to install the Airport Extreme to make things even better.
After I installed I went to see the web status of my modem, all parts were looking fine, but the modem could not see the computer. Bad sign.
I talked to Vivax support people and apparently it was a problem with their network setup and they manage to make it right. My model now sees my computer.
After that problem was solved I could not make AE to work with the modem, it had the green light and the setup looked fine, but I could not open any site. I tried to turn off my modem and AE, waited some minutes and turned on first my modem and after it was up I turned on AE. All lights looked fine but again no connection to any site.
I called again the Vivax support center and they tried to help me but the don't know AE and they could not help me with all the details but said there was 2 10.x.x.x coming from my side. So I tried to use in bridge mode. I also selected the 192.x.x.x range instead of 10.x.x.x as default.
After many setups and turn off and on again my connection is working but I have a big problem with wireless. If I turn it on I loose my connection, it seems that AE sends 2 equal ethernet address to Vivax and their network don't like it cutting me off.
So my connection setup is like this:
RCA Cable modem model DCM425B at 3Mbps using a 200.x.x.x ip
Airport Extreme connected to a Mac and a Windows PC by wire using the 192.x.x.x range ip
Wireless is off
Bridge mode is on
This the only way I could make it work.

After a firmware update it worked fine.
