Big problem using cd drive

hello!
(sorry if my english is bad, I am a russian guy)
some time ago I faced a problem using my cd drive (I have an oldie iMac and mac os 9.2.2).
every time I was feeding a cd to the drive, this computer was telling me something like "cannot intialize the disk"
then I looked through "mac help" and found out, that I have no "high sierra access " file from "extensions" folder.
And there was no help for me from russian service centers. tht guys told me something like: "chill out punk and install os x, because os 9 is a bag of crap"
Ill be very glad if some of you wil send me that file at {post edited by moderator}

  • Problem using JDBC driver with JSP

    Hi, I am trying to connecto to my mysql server via a JSP page, but it seems that there is a problem with the driver call or something in my configuration that unables me to connect. I have the mysql-connector-java-3.0.7-stable driver.
    This is how my classpath looks like:
    CLASSPATH=/home/hooper/Sources/mysql-connector-java-4.0.7-stable/lib:/home/hooper/Sources/mysql-connector-java-3.0.7-stable/com:/home/hooper/Sources/mysql-connector-java-3.0.7-stable/mysql-connector-java-3.0.7-stable-bin.jar:/usr/java/j2sdk1.4.1_02:.:/usr/java/j2sdk1.4.1_02/lib/tools.jar:/usr/java/j2sdk1.4.1_02
    And this is my JSP page code:
    <%@ page language="java" import= "java.sql.*"%>
    <%
    Connection con = null;
         String userName = "hooper";
         String password = ""; //No password
         String url = "jdbc:mysql://localhost/test";
         //Load the Driver class file
         Class.forName("com.mysql.jdbc.Driver");
         //Make a connection to the MySQL database
         con = DriverManager.getConnection (url, userName, password);
         out.println ("Database connection established");
              if (con != null){
                   //Close the connection
                   con.close();
    %>
    And this is the error I get from Tomcat4.1.18:
    HTTP Status 500 -
    type Exception report

    description The server encountered an internal error () that prevented it from fulfilling this request.
    exception

    I hope someone can help me with this.
    Thanks,
    Luis

    Hi..
    Try using this way
    String userName = "hooper";
    String password = ""; //No password
    String url = "jdbc:mysql://localhost:3306/test";
    Class.forName("org.gjt.mm.mysql.Driver");
    try to download the driver for mysql and add it to your classpath
    Hope this works

  • Big big problems using Generics, BeanInfo and Introspector

    I'm having a big big problem with Introspector class. Let me setup the problem:
    public interface VO<T, V> {
      public T getOid();
      public void setOid(T oid);
      public V getVersion();
      public void setVersion(V version);
    public interface CarVO extends VO<Long, Integer> {
      public String getPlate();
      public void setPlate(String plate);
    public class CarVOImpl implements CarVO {
      private Long oid;
      private Integer version;
      private String plate;
      public Long getOid() { return this.oid; }
      public void setOid(Long oid) { this.oid = oid; }
      public String getPlate() { return this.plate; }
      public void setPlate(String plate) { this.plate = plate; }
      public Integer getVersion() { return this.version; }
      public void setVersion(Integer version) { this.version = version; }
    public class Cool {
      public static void main(String[] args) {
        try {
          CarVO vo = new CarVOImpl();
          PropertyDescriptor[] properties = Introspector.getBeanInfo(vo.getClass()).getPropertyDescriptors();
          for (int i = 0; i < properties.length; i++) {
            System.out.println("Name " + properties.getName());
    System.out.println("PropertyType " + properties[i].getPropertyType());
    } catch (Exception e) { e.printStackTrace(); }
    Well. This code is 100% alright, compilation OK. In runtime, no matter what I do, inverting the generic types, modifying interfaces, whatever, the property with the first generic type defined (in this example, oid) will be wrong resolved to java.lang.Object, instead the correct java.lang.Long.
    Name oid
    PropertyType class java.lang.ObjectAltering the order of the getter and setter in the source code seems to affect the result of Introspector!!! (ahhhhhhh)
    This is probably a damm bug of Introspector class, that is private of Sun. Any idea to correct this problem?

    Hi,
    JSF 1.1 doesn't coexist nicely with HTML components.
    So if your goal is to build layouts in HTML then this
    will not produce the result you want
    Skins in 10.1.3 are slightly different than in 11
    (selectors may have changed their names). If you need
    to specify the class property to make skins work then
    this indicates that the skin selectors you use are
    not the correct ones.
    FrankHi Frank,
    thank you for your help, I'm replacing every html component with adf one, panelGroup, panelHorizontal, panelBorder, objectImage etc... etc... but I have a problem...
    I need to put an object component about Macromedia Flash and I cannot find any adf component to replace it. Any idea please?
    Thank you again.
    Ciao.

    Hello
    Right now i am tring to save my School work (i do Homeschool) on myipod, using it as an External Drive. I plug my ipod, amd i go to my computer, and i see the ipodd drive, i open it, and after 5 seconds it colses by itself. Itunes does not open eiter, what shall i doÉ its really urgent!
    (doe sit have to do ith disabling Disk Mode? if yes, tell me how...cuz my itune is in French...and i do now how ou call that in French)

    If you restore the iPod you will delete the files, so don't do it unless you have backups. Sorry I don't know about the error code.

  • Big problems after hard drive failure - Please help.

    About 2 weeks ago, my Macbook seized, and was sent to Apple to repair.
    It was found that the hard drive failed, and 2 weeks later I received my macbook back with a new hard drive.
    Luckily I had backed up my home drive and was able to restore it using backup.
    Now this is where my problems start.
    My home drive is not the same name ( I think - I can'r remember too well what it was called previously )
    I have my entire music library backed up to an external hard drive, and mounting this hard drive is a REAL pain in the *** now.
    Sometime it loads up, sometime it just doesn;t get recognised, and I can put the USB connection in and out 10 times before it mounts.
    I have verified the disk, and nothing is wrong.
    Does anyone know what this problen could be ?
    I have left the external hard drive in during the night, and after the macbook goes to sleep, I will go back to it in the morning, and the hard drive has been unmounted, and I repeat the exercise over again of trying to mount the drive.
    Its so annoying, and I just dont know wht to do.
    If anyone can help, I;d really appreciate it.
    Griff

    SMART status is a pretty reliable indicator of what is going on. You should back up your irreplaceable files as soon as possible.

  • Home Hub 3 - problems using network drive with OS ...

    Hi ,
    I have recently switched back to BT and received the HH3 , all wifi connectivity is good . However , I am having problems connecting to the external hard drive I have plugged into it . We have to macbook pros in the household one running Leopard and mine which unfortunately ( it seems ) is running Lion.
    The MBP running leopard can see and connect to the network drive (1tb Seagate Expansion Drive FAT32)perfectly. However I am having problems doing the same via Lion . The HH3 is visible in Finder under shared and the usb_disk folder is visible , however when I click on it to access the external hard drive I am presented with this error :
    As I said the MBP running Leopard has no issues and connects perfectly :
    I have checked the HH3 which is running the latest firmware and checked to see if there was any firmware update to the Seagate , which the isn't !!
    ANY advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated

    Ah! that might be the problem, something residual, I did have a machine dual boot W7 and Ubuntu, now it just runs Unbuntu, but I decided to do a clean install.
    I dont think the macs have a problem with HH3, yes I picked that post about dual booting, interesting cos the obvious thing to do would be apply different static ip addresses to each O/S, that way the Hub sees them as static addresses for 2 machines, rather than setting them as dynamic by selecting always use the same ip address.
    Anyway there's a recent post on here regarding printers and Lion which got resolved, but again I looked at that from a windows pint of view.
    I've googled a couple of links which you have probably already found, https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3213886?start=0&tstart=0 https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3213886?start=0&tstart=0 the second one I know relates to ntfs external drives, but what I'm looking at is the solution using sudo mount and the various switches used.
    But you may just have to bite the bullet and do a clean install.

  • Big problem with e100 driver

    Y halo thar fellow Archers,
    I love this distro. I have it installed on my laptop, my desktop (with three monitors!), my netbook, my 32 gig USB drive, my old, otherwise non-functioning iPod, my kerosene-powered cheese grater, my mom's laptop, my grandparents' computer, and any other device I could get my hands on. So, I got my hands on my wife's mother's computer and I thought it would be a quick and easy install. It uses the e100 driver, which is known as a very well-functioning one out of the box. I forget the exact model, but it's an Intel Pro 100/10 8somethingsomething xx/xx/xx/xx Rev 3. I should've saved the lspci output on a disk, but I didn't. Anyway, udev loaded it and eth0 shows up in ifconfig, but..
    iwconfig's output:
    lo         no wireless extensions
    eth0     no wireless extensions
    I couldn't set the essid, scan for networks or anything.
    So, I rmmoded e100 and modprobed it back in. I autoloaded it in rc.conf. I tried restarting the network daemon, rebooting, everything imaginable. Still, nothing. So, I tried some other modules. e1000 didn't display eth0 at all. Same with e1000e. I downloaded the tarball of it from sourceforge, both the newest version and the next available one (.17 and .14 I believe). The make file had some strange CFLAGS error so I replaced that with something else in the make file, and it showed another error saying it couldn't find a directory like linux/something.h. Long story short, it's definitely e100 that works but I couldn't replace the one that comes with arch with the one at sourceforge because of makefile problems.
    So... I'm sorry I couldn't provide better information. I didn't have anything to save the outputs on and I don't have the computer at hand right now.
    I guess I can ndiswrapper it... But I really dislike going that route and e100 is supposed to work well for like 95% of users out-of-the-box.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Justin

    It looks like the e100 driver is working already. You have the "eth0: No wireless extensions" line in your iwconfig output.
    e100 is the driver for Intel 10/100 Mbit wired Ethernet devices. It has nothing to do with wireless networking.
    I would also recommend not installing your favourite OS on any systems you can boot from a disc or a USB memory stick... People have a tendency to get a little touchy when they can't run Quicken or whatever arcane Windows application they use their computers for.

  • Big problem using 512x4 dimm w/ Neo 2 (Venice core). At impasse, need advice.

    Sorry for the semi-lengthly post but Im at the end of my rope here. Here's my issue.
    I have a Venice core and recently added a new pair of 512 x 2 to my system. Same exact set of G. Skill DDR 400 dual channel to go with the original 512 pair Ive had. Running @ 2T w/ default SPD (200mhz 2-3-3-6) I tested Memtest 86+ over 50 passes with all four banks filled, as well as isolating the new pair by themselves for 12 hours which tested flawlessly as well. I also ran all four sticks overclocked (216mhz DDR 433) with 2.5-3-3-7 timings which passed both Memtest and Prime 95 for 10+ hours respectively with no error. Everything seems to be in shape.
    Now my problem. I keep getting a nasty lock up every time I run Battlefield 2, the whole system becomes completely frozen and its followed by a nasty buzzing noise in my headphones. The timing of it varies greatly. Most often its been after 5 to 15 minutes of play but most recently its been locking up as soon as the server menu updates for some reason, without even loading up the actual game! I tried different drivers and reinstalled the game to no avail. Im pretty sure its directly related to the 512 x 4 configuration as going back to 512 x 2 the game runs without any trouble.
    The very first time the game locked up Event Viewer said I had NFTS corruption as a result of the error. I ran chkdisk and some 3rd party diagnostic tools but nothing turned up faulty. Thinking perhaps it was a voltage issue I upped the memory to 2.75 v, yet the next freeze resulted in a BSoD. It said "Page  Fault in Non Paged Area". Google brings up a ton of different results for that one so Im not sure what to make of it. Event Viewer called it category 102  event 1003.
    I flashed the BIOS to 1.9 to make sure that wasn't the issue (it wasn't). Ive tried a lot of different settings in the Cell menu with timings, mhz and voltage. The longest without error (over 30 minutes before it finally froze) was at the default SPD w/ 2.65v. It always fails eventually though. No other game or application has given me a problem with all four sticks running at once. The thing is BF2 is probably the only app I have that actually uses over a  gig of ram at one time though, so its hard for me to be sure its only a BF2 issue at this point.
    I could really use some advice here as Im pretty much stuck at this point. If everything checks out in Memtest, would the next suspect be a power supply or motherboard issue? My PSU is a high quality PC Power and Cooling 470w but its gives me some funny sensor readings I have to admit. I never thought anything  of them before since everything was stable until adding the ram but now Im wary. Everest diagnostic tool and the BIOS both report very different voltages, for example Everest says the 3.3 rail is only 3.07 v right now, whereas the BIOS says its at @ 3.15. Everest says the 12v rail is spot on @ 11.98 whereas the BIOS says its at 11.67 (yikes). Both agree the 5v rail is roughly 4.9 give or take. Im not sure if either one is right though, like I said this is the first time Ive had stability issues like this and before the ram Ive had my system overclocked and stable.

    Thanks Bejon, Ill run it down 1 by 1.

    - Do you get lockup´s running BF2 at cpu stock speed ? ( not talking about prime or memtest now. Your signature says OC from stock 2,2Ghz to 2,6Ghz which would mean something like 11x237, your post says memtest/prime 11x216 )
    Yes, I still experience the BF2 lock up using stock setting for everything (CPU, multi, FSB, ram mhz, ram timing, voltage etc). I must've confused you with the 216 number, sorry about that. I meant to say my OC is 10x260 fsb using a 166 memory divider, which= 216 mhz for the ram (or DDR 433). This passed memtest and Prime 95 as well as stock, but BF2 still locked up with this setting. So basically overclocked or not, using divider or not... I still get the lockup.
    Quote
    - Did you actually test the 77.76 driver ( not just any differant driver ?)
    Yes, tried drivers from the 72 set, 76, and the latest 77.77.
    Quote
    - Did your experiment with vcore, meaning for example startup 1.425v and cpu voltage +3,3% - still running at stock speed./ Maybe even try 1.6v for AGP.
    1.425v +3.3% is exactly what I use for my overclock CPU setting and neither that nor the stock voltage make any difference. For some reason lowering RAM voltage to default (2.65v) seemed to result in going longer without error. I almost made it past 40 minutes thinking I solved the problem with this voltage but it finally caved in again.
    Quote
    - Did you install any patches ?
    Yes BF2 is up to date.
    Quote
    - Another thing to check is if your Audio / LAN / VGA have some kind of IRQ or driver conflict.
    I checked and it turns out I do have an IRQ with two assignments on it. IRQ 21 has both Nvidia Network Bus Enumerator and Standard Dual Channel PCI IDE Controller assigned to it. I have no idea what this means though, perhaps someone can shed light if its a potential root of the problem.
    Also whats confusing me is the fact that sometimes when BF2 locks up with 512 x 4 it happens just loading up the server menu, not even loading game data into ram yet!
    Quote
    I ask these specified questions because I´m running BF2 flawless on another Neo2 system without any hickups with bios 1.8 and a Winchester+Venice stock speed 4 x 512 RAM (3-4-4-8 )and a 6600GT.
    Thats kinda surprising to me with a Winchester because from what I understood only Venice/San Diego had the memory controller capable of running 512x4 @ 400+ mhz DDR. Sounds like you got a great chip!
    Well thanks for your kind feedback Bejon, sorry if I came off a little snappy before. Im just very frustrated right now. Im going to try and reformat tomorrow just in case its somehow OS/IRQ related. If that doesn't work then Im really stuck. Also if someone can point me in the right direction in how to test my PSU for errors/bad rails Id really appreciate it.

  • Problems using unixODBC Driver for 64-bit Linux

    Good morning
    We are incurring a problem with the unixODBC Driver via Oracle Heterogeneous Services for connecting from a 64-bit SUSE Linux Server to a Windows PostgreSQL database (8.2). Oracle is 11.2.0.3. We are receiving an error when retrieving SMALLINT data from PostGreSQL. This should "automagically" convert to NUMBER(5) in Oracle but we are receiving a conversion error.
    Here is the text of the HS Trace file. Any help in diagnosing this would be much appreciated.

  • Problems using Lacie drive as scratch disk

    I'm trying to capture footage into FCE and saving the project to the external Lacie drive and i keep getting this timecode error and the recording stops. It seems like it's putting timecode breaks where there aren't even cuts in the footage. I've searched around and found other people with the same problem but can't find an answer. I'm using this professionally and am under a deadline! Please help!

    Thank you for this suggestion...I recently purchased a new system and upgraded to FCE 4; never had this problem with version 2.
    In my case, I was trying to capture to an external Maxtor drive from a Canon GL 2. Simply capturing to the internal drive (something which Apple, curiously, advises against) solved the problem, and I didn't have to remove the external drive. It's a kludge, since I'll have to manually move the footage over to the Maxtor, but it's an effective kludge.

  • Problem using eSATA drive with my G5

    I recently bought an eSATA card for my G5, hoping that it would speed up my backups and other transfers of large quantities of data. The card is a FirmTek SeriTek/1VE4 PCI-X. The drive I am using is a Seagate Freeagent Pro 750gb.
    The drive works perfectly when used with either the USB or Firewire connections. But when I tried to hook up via the eSATA cable I got this message - "SeriTek/1VE4 in slot 2: configuration changed. Finalize all changes (connecting/removing devices) before closing this window". I then have the option of clicking on "Done - Show More Details" or "Done". Clicking on either simply causes the message to reappear.
    Unfortunately I have no idea what this means, and what I need to do. The drive is not showing on my screen when hooked up via eSATA; all that happens is the message above appearing on the screen. I have to disconnect the drive to get the message to go away.
    While I suspect (and hope!) this problem has an easy resolution I have no clue what to do at this point. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

    You checked first that the card is okay with those consumer style dual/quad interface cases?
    Sonnet cards specifically warn against.
    Your best bet is always to avoid vendor name brand drive cases for external drives.
    Go get yourself a plain simple dual SATA only case that doesn't have USB/eSATA (or USB/FW/eSATA).

  • Problems using ODBC Driver. Connection never opens.

    Hi,
    I have a problem with the ODBC driver for oracle.
    This is the behaviour: the first attemp of connection doesn't work, the connection never opens. the second attempt is almost instantaneous but 10 minutes later the connection fails again. It is neccesary to close and open the app using the odbc driver again.
    I've tried everything.
    Thanks in advance,Regards.

    I understand that you are having a problem with your audio on your system when using Skype. I am happy to help you with this.
    Do you experience any other problems with sound, or is it only when trying to use Skype?
    Here is something I found related to this issue from the Skype support Forums:
    Problem with playback device?   -community.skype.com
    Further down on that page is a post which includes the following which I am including verbatim. Give it a try.
    1)Go to Control Panel.
    2)Go to Hardware and Sound.
    3)Click on Sound.
    4)Click on your default speakers, and select as "Default Speakers".
    5)Click on properties.
    6)Go to the "Advanced" tab.
    7)Click on "Restore Defaults".
    Tip: Don't forget to press "OK".
    You're done with the system part!
    1)Now, go to Skype.
    2)Go to Tools>Options.
    3)Click on Audio Settings.
    4)Click on the green button with the arrow. If it works, you're done. Or, click on the drop-down menu, and select your default speakers. If it still doesn't work, then read on.
    5)Click on "Show Advanced Options".
    6)Select your default speakers, then click on move up, until it's at the very top.
    7)Test your speakers!
    Tip: Don't forget to save.
    Let me know if that works for you.

  • Problem using SAMSys driver

    Hi,
    I am trying to connect via TCP/IP a SAMSys 9320 2.8e reader to SES and I get the following error:

         at oracle.edge.impl.driver.SamsysDriver.doInit(Unknown Source)
    I believe that it has nothing to do with a possible incompatibility between ver2.7 and 2.8e, i tried it with valid and invalid IPs just in case.
    Does anyone have a clue about this?

    If have 3 clients editions (10.1, 10.2, 11.1) installed on my machine (Oracle full client installations, DBA full package install) and in all 3 ORACLE_HOME directories the file orageneric10.dll can be found.
    I didn't use the Oracle instant client installations option during install.

  • Problem using external drive with hdiutil

    Hello,
    I use hdiutil to produce CDR masters for our educational software. Works great if I only use my built in CD-RW/DVD-ROM drive on my 15" AL PowerBook. But it won't recognize my external LaCie 1394 CDRW firewire 400 drive. The -anydevice option has no effect. But if I insert a blank CDR, the Finder recognizes it and asks what to do. I've tried the -device option with the device name and still no joy. This is on 10.3.9, so I repeated the tests on 10.4.6 with no luck. The 10.4 Finder also regnizes the device. I've tried hdiutil burn -list and the firewire drive shows up as DRDeviceSupportLevelAppleSupported.
    Any ideas?
    Cole

    It seems you need to include "IOService:" in front of the OF path.
    On my iMac (10.4):
    imac$ hdiutil burn -list
    PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-K06 via ATAPI (DRDeviceSupportLevelAppleShipping)
    IOService:/AppleACPIPlatformExpert/PCI0@0/AppleACPIPCI/PATA@1F,1/AppleIntelPIIX ATARoot/PRID@0/AppleIntelPIIXPATA/ATADeviceNub@0/IOATAPIProtocolTransport/IOSCSI PeripheralDeviceNub/IOSCSIPeripheralDeviceType05/IODVDServices
    and the following seems to work:
    imac$ hdiutil burn test.dmg -device IOService:/AppleACPIPlatformExpert/PCI0@0/AppleACPIPCI/PATA@1F,1/AppleIntelPIIX ATARoot/PRID@0/AppleIntelPIIXPATA/ATADeviceNub@0/IOATAPIProtocolTransport/IOSCSI PeripheralDeviceNub/IOSCSIPeripheralDeviceType05/IODVDServices -sizequery
    On 10.3 you may need to add "-anydrive" option.
