BIG problems getting PS cs3 and cs5 to initialise.

I recently upgraded my trusty partner from vista to windows 7 ultimate 64bit and that resulted in CS3 freezing on startup. Right where is says "initialising.....". Dismayed and not at all amused by this, I uninstalled it and grabbed a copy of CS5 and installed that instead. No luck, same problem.
I have been scouring the Internet harder than Sauron for the Ring to try and find a way to fix the problem, but nothing. Here is what i have:
Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit
Intel Quad Core 2.4GHz
4GB ram
Nividia GForce 8600GS (latest drivers)
Capax Vistapad 12.1 (so its not the Intuos problem.
I have duel displays, but i have disconnected one of them.
If there is more information you need, just ask. I am desperate to get Photoshop working.

ok, it just started. I updated all of my drivers (for pretty much everything......................................................again) and it worked. Stupid magical computer machine.

Grrrrrrrr. It seems that CS5 doesn't recognise that my tablet is pressure sensitive. Is there any way to fix this?

Look in Windows 7 event viewer. The problem will be listed in there with more detail. Post the information you find here so we can take a look at it.
The quick fix to try first is to delete the prefs by reading this:

Also defective 3rd party fonts can cause the problem.
As for the pad problem you will have to get with who makes it for the proper drivers. Windows 7 Event Viewer will give you more information too.

File compatibility between cs3 and cs5

What are the compatilibity issues between Photoshop CS3 and CS5? Can they be used together without much (if any) issues?

They can happily coexist on the same system, as long as you've got the disk space. Photoshop has always been like that.
You'll only be able to run one at a time, at any given instant, though.
Regarding file compatibility, I don't how much it's required to open a file in Photoshop CS3, but the newer version does offer a "Maximize Compatibility" preference setting for saving .psd files. On occasion I've opened .psd files in Photoshop CS3 saved by CS5 (using the aforementioned setting) and I haven't seen any issues at all.

This may seem like a paranoid question, but better safe than sorry...
I currently have both CS3 and CS5 (Production Premium) loaded on my Mac laptop. I just got the upgrade to CS6 today.
I really don't need/use CS3 anymore, so I am wondering if it is OK for me to delete CS3 applications from my computer. I just don't want to accidentally delete something that my CS6 upgrade (or even CS5) might need.
Any thoughts?

My big library gets Itunes 7 and my whole pc very slow

Since i installed Itunes 7.0.0, i notice that when i launch it, my whole pc is getting very slow. My mouse doesn't move properly.
Il still have the problem with 7.0.1 and 7.0.2...
Then, i thought that i had a big library (nearly 20.000 songs). All my music is inside (all my cds since i am 13 years old !). Maybe it's a problem?
As 20.000 is the number of songs that you can get on an 80GB Ipod, i don't think it should be a problem in Itunes.
I can see Itunes is 95 752 Ko in RAM memory!
Even downloading music i buy and posdcasts from the itunes store is getting very slow
After closing Itunes, my pc gets back its natural speed.
My PC has Windows XP system, 2GB of RAM, AMD AThlon 3700+ (220 Mhz) and frequently formatted and reinstalled.
Help would be much appreciated if you have a solution.

I was trying to solve the same problem on a Mac, and found a slightly different solution. When I tried "Date Modified", I was seeing only the dates when the songs were originally added to my old Mac. So in View Options, i checked the "Date Added" column, which showed me all the duplicates as having been added on the same date. I was able to easily delete these and recover 20gigs of space.

Well. This code is 100% alright, compilation OK. In runtime, no matter what I do, inverting the generic types, modifying interfaces, whatever, the property with the first generic type defined (in this example, oid) will be wrong resolved to java.lang.Object, instead the correct java.lang.Long.

PropertyType class java.lang.ObjectAltering the order of the getter and setter in the source code seems to affect the result of Introspector!!! (ahhhhhhh)
This is probably a damm bug of Introspector class, that is private of Sun. Any idea to correct this problem?

Fonts different between CS3 and CS5 on Win7 system using the same fonts directory

I have several files created in Fireworks CS3 that work fine. Fonts are all installed in the system directory on my Win7 box. This used to be a WinXP Pro box.
I can load a file into Fireworks CS3 without a single issue and the text all looks perfect. The way it should. Close CS3, open CS5 and load the same file and CS5 tells me I have to update my fonts. Why? Same system, same fonts in the same fonts directory. Only thing that's changed is that I'm opening the file(s) in CS5.
The fonts do not look the same in CS5. Am I going to have to redo every Fireworks CS3 file so that it looks correct in CS5? If so, why?

Here's a sample image the way it's supposed to look. The Swift gets hosed. PlazaDUtil is the font. I'd hate to have to redo all my logo files.

Prior to CS4 Fireworks used the Macromedia type engine. From CS4 forward, adobe introduced the adobe type engine to improve text handling/integration between FW AI and PS. As a result moving CS3 files over to cs4 forces FW to update the fonts.

Multiple licenses between cs3 and cs5

I have cs 3, I think design and web, the point is I have Dreamweaver CS3, from a while ago, and recently I installed CS5 Design, which doesn't come with Dreamweaver. Now my DW cs3 is now deauthorized. I would rather get this up and running, Is there a trick to getting this work, or will it not work. Can I run multiple licenses on the same machine for different cs versions. This was not an upgrade to cs5, but a new install. If I'm screwed, which is unfair, can I buy CS6 DW as a astand alone or will this jerk around my cs5?

Yes sorry it was really late last night and I just wanted to start the discussion before I went to sleep, I only slept 2 hours the night before. I'm looking for the CS3 installers and I'm trying to remember what they called the suite back then because I thought they changed the name, It was actually called CS3 Design Premium. What I have now is CS5 Design standard. With CS6 they actually change the names a bit. When I find the installers for CS3 I was thinking that I might try reinstalling. They are both seats that were bought for me with volume pricing through my company. I am trying to get in touch with my IT guy at work to just give me the right seat, but I'd be fine if the both worked. We do have the licenses for two different type of seats, premium and standard, or their cs 6 name equivalents.
Should I try reinstalling?

Can you run Photoshop CS3 and CS5 on the same system?

I did this before on another system where I had both CS2 and CS3 installed and I could run either version when I wanted. Back then I just never bothered to uninstall CS2.
Now on this system I'm tunning CS3 and I have some plug ins I use regularly that aren't compatible with CS5 and I don't want to lay out the cash again for them. So I'd like to be able to install CS5 and use it primarily but when I need to use the plug ins then just switch to CS3.
I've noticed many programs these days won't run on top of another version. So is there any reason I won't be able to run both?

Absolutely. All versions of Photoshop can coexist simultaneously, though you can only run one at a time.
It's usual not to install the old version until you're sure the new one is working great. If you have the space, never uninstall it. It's handy to have it around for answering questions, here for example.

Problem Getting Error Code and Description in Alerts

We are having trouble getting the Error code and Error description in the Alerts and we're having trouble getting a alert for message mapping exceptions. I have read through the BLOGs and the help on SAP. I'm not sure it is something to do with the configuration or SP14. We did not have these problems with SP12 at our other customer XI implementations.
Background -
We have setup an "XI Alert" classification with three Alert categories -"XI_Mapping_Error", "XI_Adapter_Error", "XI_Runtime_Error".
For the "XI_Mapping_Error" alert category, we have setup a rule so that any Integration Engine Application Mapping.* Error code will create an alert. However, when we have a mapping error in XI which we can see in MONI, we do not get an alert. The checkbox for "Suppress Multiple Alerts of this Rule" is not selected. I am not sure why we're not getting the alert.
For the "XI_Adapter_Error" alert category, we have setup a rule so that any Adapter Engine * adapter type will create an alert. The alert gets created - however, some of the container variables do not get poulated in the email. We have defined Container variables pointing to the corresponding ABAP data dictionary elements - i have double checked these definitions.
Here is an alert email - the Error Code (SXMS_ERROR_CODE - SXMSERRTX) and Error Category (SXMS_ERROR_CAT - SXMSERRCAT) are not being extracted:

We are not able to figure out why the Alert framework is not working correctly. We are running XI 3.0 SP 14 on Win2K, SQL 2000.
Anyone encounter these problems? Any help would be appreciated.

Jay, This note is specifically for a situation where the 'where did the error occur' set to No Restriction. I don't think anything else is included in this fix .01 to patch 0.9 of SPS 12 of XI 3.0!!!
My problem is that even the messageID variable is not getting replaced!!! In SP12 everything was perfect. After SP14, the errors are coming almost instantaneously to the inbox, but without any variable replacement.

Big problem with Airport Extreme and Vivax Provider in Brazil

Hello guys.
I live in Brazil and I bought my Airport Extreme in a recent trip to USA.
For some years I was a client of Telefonica and had an ADSL link, I had a D'Link G604T to do both the modem and router operation in the same box. I was happy with my connection of 1Mbps.
In a recent promotion of Vivax I switched to a cable connection to have both TV and Internet at the same operator, my link now has 3Mbps.
With this pack I also received free one RCA cable modem model DCM425B, it was installed fine in one computer only. Everything was fine my connection was faster the old one.
So I went to install the Airport Extreme to make things even better.
After I installed I went to see the web status of my modem, all parts were looking fine, but the modem could not see the computer. Bad sign.
I talked to Vivax support people and apparently it was a problem with their network setup and they manage to make it right. My model now sees my computer.
After that problem was solved I could not make AE to work with the modem, it had the green light and the setup looked fine, but I could not open any site. I tried to turn off my modem and AE, waited some minutes and turned on first my modem and after it was up I turned on AE. All lights looked fine but again no connection to any site.
I called again the Vivax support center and they tried to help me but the don't know AE and they could not help me with all the details but said there was 2 10.x.x.x coming from my side. So I tried to use in bridge mode. I also selected the 192.x.x.x range instead of 10.x.x.x as default.
After many setups and turn off and on again my connection is working but I have a big problem with wireless. If I turn it on I loose my connection, it seems that AE sends 2 equal ethernet address to Vivax and their network don't like it cutting me off.
So my connection setup is like this:
RCA Cable modem model DCM425B at 3Mbps using a 200.x.x.x ip
Airport Extreme connected to a Mac and a Windows PC by wire using the 192.x.x.x range ip
Wireless is off
Bridge mode is on
This the only way I could make it work.

After a firmware update it worked fine.

CS3 and CS5 versions incompatible?

Most likely, you may not... Bridge is part of a suite, and is designed to work with the other products in that suite... you need to use Premiere Pro CS5 (CS5.5 ???) to work with Bridge

I am having problems getting into ICloud and Mail etc from System Preferences. Do I have a virus or malware problem?

A few months ago, I had a problem with my Mail app going offline constantly. Since then, for no apparent reason, that problem has gone away and another has taken its place. Now I cannot get into ICloud or Mail, etc. from my System Preferences on my MacBook Pro. Do I have a virus or malware? Should I immediately take my notebook in for repair or can I wait a couple of weeks until I return home?

This is probably a software problem that can be fixed with a little thought and routine maintenance maneuvers and troubleshooting.

If you are not comfortable with this then you could take it in to your local "geniuses" at the Apple store. You could certainly wait a few weeks. Make sure you have a backup of any important documents that you don't want to lose, first.

SWF problem in Dreamweaver CS3 and strange Script file

Hi folks, I am using Dreamweaver CS3 and tried to upload a
SWF file today. The SWF includes three buttons, one for video,
another for audio and one for text. Before loading up to DW all
three parts played fine. But when I uploaded to DW and my site, the
video fails to play. A Script file, and another file downloaded I
am not sure what I am supposed to do with this script file. The
script file is called The audio and text part works fine, but the
video will not play. I am not sure why this is, but when I uploaded
the file to Dreamweaver there was a Script file called
AC_RunActiveContent.js that automatically downloaded along with a
file called .htaccess
The other file is called called .htaccess
I uploaded both files to my server, but that did not help the
video play. I tried pasting the AC_RunActiveContent.js code into my
page and uploading, but that did not help the video play either; I
just got code at the bottom of my page.
I have viewed the page in Mozilla, IE7 and Flock, but still I
cannot play the video.
Does anyone have any idea how to make the video play in
Dreamweaver; what I am supposed to do with these two code files?
For those interested in the AC_RunActiveContent.js code, I
will post below. Please try to explain simply because I am not so
tech savvy.

I had to buy a new computer and now can't get my CS3 with CS5 upgrade to work on windows 8.1. What can I do to get them to load and work?

I can load CS3, but it won't let me register it and I can load CS5 upgrade, but when I open CS5 it shows fault and closes. What can I do to get these programs to work on my new computer?

Registration has always been optional, so there is no point in trying. Those pages on the Adobe site are long gone. CS5 crashing is another matter, but without some crash logs and more detailed system information nobody can realyl know. This could be a mundane permissions issue on some files, could be a crash with the hardware acceleration stuff but just the same could be the activation system failing. Impossible to tell based on your limited information.
