BIG PROBLEMS WITH IPHOTO AFTER MAVERICKS DOWNLOAD

Hi! I´ve read all about iPhoto and mavericks problem on diferent questions and answers around Communities and done every one of the suggestions and still can't fix it, I´vd already erased iPhoto (hoping my photos are alive, if not im dead!!!) so that I buy anew the app but I can't it just simply says "accept" but can't buy it. What can I do plis help believe me I tried EVERYTHING.  FYI, my iPhoto came with my Mac Book Pro since new. Pleeeeeaaaaseeee help me I really need to recover my photos and work on the app. Thank you very much

I have the same problem since I "upgraded" to OS X Maverics. I can't open iPhoto, because it says my version is old (version 9.2.1.). When I try to download the update, it tells me my iPhoto was purchased with a differed Apple ID (it already came with my MacBook Pro bought last year!!) and need to update under the same Apple ID (?). This is very frustrating!!

  • Problems with iPhoto after Maverick installation

After 'free' :-) installation of Mavericks, iPhoto doesn't work...
When I take a look in the App Store I recognized
that It isn't possible to update my Version of iPhoto..?
I bought iPhoto two years ago and I'll not buy it again - the same programm.
    I need help!
    Chris

    This is the current message:
The Photo library needs to be upgraded to work with this version of iPhoto.
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • Problem with Mail after Mavericks download

I just downloaded mavericks and I'm having a problem moving messages from my inbox.  When I click and drag messages from my inbox to another folder, they move, but then show back up in my inbox a while later.  Then they are in both folders.  Any ideas?

Same issue my wife had. After login back onto iTunes and restoring from her last backup it was fine and all her info was back in place.

  • Big problem with photos after update to iOS 4.3

    Hi everyone,
I have a big problem with the photos on my iPhone 4 after updating to 4.3
There is not enough space for them, anymore. Before the update I had about 9000 photos synced with iTunes -and I had about 10 GB free. Now, iTunes can't sync the photos anymore because there is not enough space on the iPhone??? The same amount of photos does not fit anymore. I suppose there is an error in the Itunes photo compression module. Anybody else with the problem? Any suggestions for a workaround?
    Thanks, Olaf
Update: The same number of photos is taking up three times as much space than before.

Me too, but I have the solution.
There seems to be 2 problems. First, for some reason your data is taking up more space post update, so if you were close to filling your device, you now overrun. This isn't well handeld by iTunes, but doesn't seem to be the biggest problem as I'm sure that would sort itself out if you could just get it to sync.
The root problem is the 2nd one - the missing file. Mine was a photo, but it took me ages to find it and you're not going to like how I did it. I started to untick things to sync one by one (music first) and attempting the re-sync. I found that it was a file in my photos that was causing the problem, so I removed those and then re-loaded everything back up and I'm now OK again. I use Aperture to sync with.
I had the same problem with the last OS update and it's a pain because it takes ages to sort with a nearly full 32G device.
Now onto my iPad for an update, but that's proving to be a non-starter as the thing wont back up due to "another session in progress". More rooting around to solve that I guess......

  • IPhone won't sync with iPhoto after Mavericks update

I updated to Mavericks this week and also the latest version of iPhoto. I'm having problems getting iPhoto to sync with the phone. It recognizes the phone but won't load up the images on it. And it won't sync photos from my iPhoto library to the phone.
But then, sometimes it works, it recognizes the iPhoto library and updates everything correctly to the phone. Weird! I'm not sure what it is I do that gets the phone and iPhoto to work together. I've tried restarting the phone. That doesn't seem to be it.
    Music and podcasts sync fine.
I have to say, I do have a lot of photos in iPhoto, close to 50,000. Could that be the problem?
    Thanks for your help!

Here's something I discovered, while struggling with the same syncing issue:
iPhoto was not recognizing that my iPhone was plugged in.
Deleting photos not taken with the iPhone would solve the problem, as others have reported.
    Then, this happened:
I plugged in the iPhone to import pictures, and it would not appear in iPhoto, due to the presence of "other" photos on the camera roll (pictures not taken with the phone, but saved there from messages and email received on the iPhone).
With the iPhone still plugged into my computer, and iTunes and iPhoto running, I opened GraphicConverter 5.9 to just check whether or not it recognized the iPhone. GraphicConverter asked if I wanted to import all or some of the pictures from my connected iPhone, and I said no. Now things get interesting: I then happened to look again at iPhoto, and THERE WAS MY IPHONE.
I then proceeded to import ALL of the photos from the iPhone with no problems!!
This has worked twice for me. I can't explain it, but I wanted to post this in the hope that someone else could benefit from it.

  • Problems with iPhoto after exporting library to external hard disk

    Hello all,
I am using iPhoto 8 on an iBook G4. I recently attempted to back up my iPhoto library to an external hard disk. I did this by dragging the iPhoto library to the external hard disk. I did not delete the library on my own computer. Since I've done this, iPhoto has not been problematic. For instance, when I attempt to open an event on my computer, I can not see the thumbnails of all the photo's in the event - iPhoto will display each individual photo in sequence. If I want to print a picture, I have to export the entire event - I can't just drag the thumbnail to my desktop. Also, when I attempt to upload new pictures from my camera it produces an error.
Does anyone know what might be going on? I need to be able to access my photo's, so can anyone give me some advice on how to fix whatever I've done?
Any help you can give me would be much appreciated.

    Gina2008
iPhoto will display each individual photo in sequence.
There's a slider lower right of the iPhoto Window - drag it left.
Why are you exporting to Print?
when I attempt to upload new pictures from my camera it produces an error.
    What does the error say?
    As for accessing your pics:
There are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto:
For 10.5 users: You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Apple-Click for selecting multiple pics.
    Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!
To upload to a site that does not have an iPhoto Export Plug-in the recommended way is to Select the Pic in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export and export the pic to the desktop, then upload from there. After the upload you can trash the pic on the desktop. It's only a copy and your original is safe in iPhoto.
This is also true for emailing with Web-based services. If you're using Gmail you can use THIS
If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto. With 10.5 you can access the Library from the New Message Window in Mail:
    Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.
Or, if you want to access the files with iPhoto not running, then create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use THIS
    Other options include:
    1. *Drag and Drop*: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
    2. *File -> Export*: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
    3. *Show File*: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.

  • Big problem with migration at mavericks

    Hello,
I'm trying to migrate an iMac early 2009 to an new one.
But neither with WLAN nor with Ethernet it works.
The older iMac cannot find the newer one. So I have no chance to proceed.
Is there any hint how I can solve this problem?
Yes, I could make a Backup off course – but there is another problem with this issue I'd not like to explain now
    Thank you for any help...

  • Problem with iPhoto after upgrading to Mavericks.

My iPhoto says that I have an upgrade everytime I open it, but when I agree on that nothing is coming up in App Store. I have 9.4.3 and it wants to upgrade to 9.5.  Please help.

What system are you running, Mavericks? Go to the App Store, log in with your Apple ID and look in the Updates section for iPhoto.

  • Problems with iPhoto after upgrading to 11

When I upgraded to iphoto 11,my photos showed up in the library, but then when I clicked on them to enlarge them some of them (not all) were a black exclamation point.  Following advice on this forum, I rebuild the library.
Now my entire library is just black squares with the file names of the photos that used to be there underneath.  When I scroll down, the black squares turn into a single photo.  When I click on them, I see a black exclamation point for a few moments, and then I see my photo. This holds for the photos in my albums as well.
I'm glad my photos are still there, but I have thousands of photos and I need to be able to see them in the library...  Anyone have any ideas?  Thank you very much!

So, I used iPhoto Library Manager.  I rebuild the library, and everything looks great WITHIN the Library Manager app.  Unfortunately, when I open iPhoto, I still have the same problem. All of my photos turn into the same photo when I scroll, and when I don't scroll, they're all just black squares.  And the photos are successfully connected -- when I click on them, they open after a few moments.  I wish I'd never rebuild the library in the first place -- that's when my real problems started.

  • Problems with CS6 after cloud Download

Just joined the Adobe Cloud and downloaded CS6. I am using a MacBook Pro, new 15" retina display, 16 GB Ram, 2.6 Ghz processor.
Download and install seemed to work fine but when I start the program I get the following alerts:
Afterwards CS6 seems to load normally but I cannot open any image files. I have no idea what the 3 error messages mean and I bought the new MacBook Pro specifically to add more space and speed to my workflow using Photoshop and Lightroom. Any thoughts on a fix or workaroud would be appreciated.
    Thanks,

Morning Noel and thanks for your comments. I see that we are both night owls:-)))
I agree with you...that would not be a good thing..LOL. My quandry was simply that since I did not "move" any plug-ins into the re-install of CS6 from the Cloud but simply installed and clicked on "launch"....how did the plug-ins get there? After piecing together what you and Chis told me I think I figured it out. Since, when you uninstall CS6 the original file where the program had been (Adobe Photoshop CS6) and the plug-in file inside remain intact, re-installing CS6 again (this time directly from the "cloud") installs into that same CS6 folder. Since the folder already contains a plug-in folder from the last install, it must then "initialize" (thanks Chris...I had the semantics wrong) the plug-ins that it finds already there. So, in a way I have moved or installed them at one time, just not for the latest install of the same version from the Cloud or wherever.
I keep all my original plug-in installer modules in a separate folder if I need to reinstall as well as all the license keys which always saves a headache down the road.
I was pulling my hair out...and trust me...I don't have enough left to do that..LOL...until piecing tidbits of information from you both. The inference that I had physically moved plug-ins from one folder to another is what had me stumped and a little confused since I know that I did not do that. The time lapse between the finished install alert from the Cloud intall and the time that elapsed until I pushed the "launch" button was only a few nanoseonds so not enough time to copy anything anywhere. If the plug-in folder was already there and CS6 installed to the same folder called CS6 then it all makes sense.
Thank you again for helping me to figure this all out. In the future, if I want to do a true "clean" install of the same version I will simply delete the original folder and its plug-in folder since its best to do a re-install of the plug-ins from the original plug-in modules anyway, which I keep tucked away on an external hard drive.
Thanks again....Loving the latest version of CS6 and its added goodies!!!!
    Kind Regards,
    Kenyon
ps...my apologies if I seemed a little curt with my first reply...it was the inference that I had physically moved something from one place to another and the tihird party reference that stuck me as inappropriate. Since I had not "moved" anything anywhere and at that time had no idea why I was getting the error messages since I had simply installed and launched, the immediate assumption that I must have moved something, etc. left me a little shocked. I am not tech savy like you and Chris but I assure you that if I had "moved" a file, I would have assumed the problem was there from the get go and would not have posted the question. :-)

  • Problems with Numbers after Mavericks upgrade

I am a Cisco network support engineer, I have a recommendation, before you  upgrade any device in the future. Always keep in mind to make a backup of your data, in this way if you have to reset the device to factory settings you will not lose that information. Having said that, reset the router to the fabric configuration using the back little button, remember when you do that, you are going to loose your current configuration.
Also here I leave a link for you to download the firmware rescue utility for your router:

  • Big problem with iPhoto

I can't open iPhoto at all. It comes up with a message, that is has quit unexpectectly. Prior to that I have had problems organising the photos, because they don't seem to be there. When I try to do anything else at all, I have to manually cancel every single photo (sometimes over 100) in that folder and all other action, including shutting down iPhoto, are impossible. Someone please help

There is a two part problem here. First, let's get iPhoto running, then we'll look at your library problems.<<<</div>

  • Problems with IPhoto after transfer from Mobile Me

It seems that most of the necessary transfer out of of Mobile Me was accomplished, but I am still somewhat confused where my Gallery went to and now my IPhoto program keeps telling me that it is synchronizing to my service provider (Comcast), but it has been going on forever and I wonder if that is a necessary function?  I chatted with the support team of ICloud, but they had no answer.  Can anyone help?

To try to address the browser problem, reset Safari and see if that helps. Also, try an alternate browser (I use Firefox that way) to see if the problem is system-wide. Also, there is a Safari forum here:

  • Problem with iPhoto after upgrading to Lion

I just upgraded my IMac to Lion, but IPhoto did not upgrade.  When I go to the Appstore, it looks like I need to buy the IPhoto upgrade.  Is that right?

iPhoto is not part of Lion. It comes with a Mac. So, the version you own is the one that came with your Mac. If you want the newest version, you'll have to purchase it from the App Store.
