Big problems with itouch update to 2.1
i have a nice young friend (11) who was so excited to get the itouch for christmas. Last night he tried to
upgrade so he could download applications....and now nothing works.
I looked on line for him and tried to coach him with restarting, etc.
can someone please post simple directions I can email to his mother.
I wish I had not suggested the upgrade...now he can't use the Itouch.....
remember, if this is your first ipod, all this restarting and reconnecting to another USB is very tedious and complicated.
Is he better off just trying to restore? and forgetting update. ( i have Iphone, not i touch...and he has admired my apps)....they use windows xp

There are a few options you can take to restarting/restoring your ipod.
Try holding down the "Sleep/Awake" button for 10 seconds until the Apple logo appears then try again.
Or
Try Restoring your ipod.
Connect your Ipod Touch to your computer, it should show up in itunes. Click on "Your Name's Ipod" and click sumary. You should be able to click restore under update.
Before restoring your itunes should have a message pop up asking to back up your ipod's content. you should do this so you do not erase your items.
After restoring your ipod the Apple logo should appear and it should sync your old music and backups back onto it.
If none of those work try Recovery Mode Restore.
Do this by Holding "Sleep/Awake" button for 10 seconds and the "Hold Button" at the same time. The Apple logo should appear and connect your ipod into itunes and it should pop up saying "Itunes has detected an Ipod in recovery mode do you want to restote" or a simular message along those lines. Click restore and wait and follow the given instructions.
If your friend's ipod is still under Warretnty, Ring up apple support or take it to an Ipod Representative/Technitian they should check it out for you.

Big problem with photos after update to iOS 4.3
Hi everyone,
I have a big problem with the photos on my iPhone 4 after updating to 4.3
There is not enough space for them, anymore. Before the update I had about 9000 photos synced with iTunes -and I had about 10 GB free. Now, iTunes can't sync the photos anymore because there is not enough space on the iPhone??? The same amount of photos does not fit anymore. I suppose there is an error in the Itunes photo compression module. Anybody else with the problem? Any suggestions for a workaround?

Update: The same number of photos is taking up three times as much space than before.

There seems to be 2 problems. First, for some reason your data is taking up more space post update, so if you were close to filling your device, you now overrun. This isn't well handeld by iTunes, but doesn't seem to be the biggest problem as I'm sure that would sort itself out if you could just get it to sync.
The root problem is the 2nd one - the missing file. Mine was a photo, but it took me ages to find it and you're not going to like how I did it. I started to untick things to sync one by one (music first) and attempting the re-sync. I found that it was a file in my photos that was causing the problem, so I removed those and then re-loaded everything back up and I'm now OK again. I use Aperture to sync with.
I had the same problem with the last OS update and it's a pain because it takes ages to sort with a nearly full 32G device.
Now onto my iPad for an update, but that's proving to be a non-starter as the thing wont back up due to "another session in progress". More rooting around to solve that I guess...... -
Last update for OS 10.8.2 caused big problems with HP photosmart B110 printer /scanner cannot scan does anyone have the same problem or a solution?
iMac is connected via wirelss to printer/scanner. All was working OK until update.Assuming that the HP software is up-to-date, but still not working, have you tried Image Capture in the Applications folder. Does that work?

Once a month you should charge your phone to 100% then drain it, then charge it back up to 100%.
Just leave the phone in and do what is said above.

Big problem with Airport Extreme and Vivax Provider in Brazil
Hello guys.
I live in Brazil and I bought my Airport Extreme in a recent trip to USA.
For some years I was a client of Telefonica and had an ADSL link, I had a D'Link G604T to do both the modem and router operation in the same box. I was happy with my connection of 1Mbps.
In a recent promotion of Vivax I switched to a cable connection to have both TV and Internet at the same operator, my link now has 3Mbps.
With this pack I also received free one RCA cable modem model DCM425B, it was installed fine in one computer only. Everything was fine my connection was faster the old one.
So I went to install the Airport Extreme to make things even better.
After I installed I went to see the web status of my modem, all parts were looking fine, but the modem could not see the computer. Bad sign.
I talked to Vivax support people and apparently it was a problem with their network setup and they manage to make it right. My model now sees my computer.
After that problem was solved I could not make AE to work with the modem, it had the green light and the setup looked fine, but I could not open any site. I tried to turn off my modem and AE, waited some minutes and turned on first my modem and after it was up I turned on AE. All lights looked fine but again no connection to any site.
I called again the Vivax support center and they tried to help me but the don't know AE and they could not help me with all the details but said there was 2 10.x.x.x coming from my side. So I tried to use in bridge mode. I also selected the 192.x.x.x range instead of 10.x.x.x as default.
After many setups and turn off and on again my connection is working but I have a big problem with wireless. If I turn it on I loose my connection, it seems that AE sends 2 equal ethernet address to Vivax and their network don't like it cutting me off.
So my connection setup is like this:
RCA Cable modem model DCM425B at 3Mbps using a 200.x.x.x ip
Airport Extreme connected to a Mac and a Windows PC by wire using the 192.x.x.x range ip
Wireless is off
Bridge mode is on
This the only way I could make it work.After a firmware update it worked fine.

It's actually pretty simple: Microsoft implemented their mail processing in a way that has greatly assisted folks using Microsoft products and Microsoft platforms, and established an "export" mechanism when communicating via mail in heterogeneous computing environments. Microsoft tools including Microsoft Exchange Server and their systems running Microsoft Windows are a good and very capable mail environment system, with great scale and very well integrated mail, calendar and related processing, and some exceedingly useful tools including SharePoint that have no real analog with OS X, Unix or Linux systems. But these tools don't necessarily interoperate entirely nicely in heterogeneous environments; with non-Microsoft tools and platforms.
The winmail.dat mechanism is a part of the whole Microsoft infrastructure, and particularly when the information is being "exported" out from the Microsoft environment, and into a non-Windows and non-Exchange environment. The determinate here involves the settings chosen by the various senders. (Possibly also by the defaults chosen by the administrator of the Exchange Server(s) involved, but I haven't checked that.)
Here's the Microsoft knowledge base article that describes the specificss of the winmail.dat file.
There are tools around to read the TNEF-format winmail.dat files on OS X and other platforms, including TNEF's enough for OS X, and likely various other tools. Or get your senders to reconfigure their settings for you when they're sending messages to you, as described in the Microsoft KB article. -

I've a big problem with adobe acrobat reader XI pro and I hope you can help me.
The problem is; when I past copied text from some pdf books (not all of them) it past symbols only! wherever I past it! and even if I coped that text from another pdf reader (adobe pdf reader, internet browsers, ...etc.).
This problem started to happen since yesterday when I installed adobe acrobat reader XI pro to try it before I buy it, and before that when I was using the free adobe pdf reader I was totally able to copy any text from any pdf and past it anywhere with nothing wrong.
What can I do?

There doesn't seem to be anything special about the O_year field
I thought spry text validation would of been causing the issues, but I removed them and have the same problem.
For some reason the POST_MMupdate value is not being set to 'form4', which it is doing if O_year is set.
