Big rectangle on maps staying black
I'm on an iPhone 6 with iOS 8.1.2. I don't have this problem on my iPad 3 with iOS 8.
The problem is that I get a big black rectangle on maps close to where I live (North-Western Spain) on satellite or hybrid view. I can see the whole planet fine zooming into where the scale shows 75 km. Zooming in some more - about where it says 50 km - the rest of the world seems to be ok but a big black rectangle starts to block parts of Spain and Portugal. There's no problem with the simple map. It only concerns the satellite image.
I've tried turning the phone on and off, resetting with lock and home buttons pressed and resetting some settings at the end of the list of the general settings.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
This is what it looks like. Found the same problem on an iPhone 4S with iOS 8. Any ideas apart from what I already tried?

Satellite A200 screen stays black when trying to boot
Hello everyone,
My Toshiba Satellite A200 notebook is not working anymore, so everything started when I was playing a game, suddenly, the screen turned blue with some tiny text written on it. I had to hold the power button a few seconds to close it because nothing was happening on the computer. I then pressed the power button to open it. Everthing was going well, until the welcome screen. At this part, it was written "Welcome" but the Vista loading circle left of it wasn't turning.
After a few seconds, I decided to close the computer again, so I did hold the power button so the computer closed. Here is the problem : I tried to reopen it, but the screen stayed black. Nothing was happening. The power light was blue, but not any computer activity. So I let it like that a few minutes then closed it and tried again, but the same thing happened. I tried to disassemble it and noticed one of the two memory card wasn't fully in its slot. I fixed it, but it didn't fix the problem.
I also tried to plug another screen on it, but that one was also black. So I put back the screen on its computer and tried to boot my laptop and it worked. It was booting, but the first problem came back, the Welcome screen was frooze there. So yes I did close it again and then the same thing happened, the screen stayed black.
I don't think the problem is the screen because as I said sometime it goes to the welcome screen. Also I don't hear any welcome sound when the screen stays black as if the computer would simply not start up. And as I said earlier, I don't see any computer activity on the little light in front of the computer. And left of this one, I clearly see that the computer is ON because the power light is blue.
So this is my problem, next time the computer manages to start up I'll try to boot it on the SAFE MODE, but until then, I don't know what to do. Please, help me.

EDIT :
After letting the computer turned off for about 30 minutes, I started it, and booted in safe mode. At this step, I securely closed my comptuer with the shut down button instead on holding the power button. Then I reopened my computer, and it booted and the problem was fixed. Now my notebook is openened and working.
So if this is happening to you :
1. Shut down you computer.
2. Wait for about 30 minutes.
3. Boot in safe mode
4. Shut it down using the shut down button istead off holding the power button.
That should work.Finally, it doesn't work. I don't know why but my computer did start up after the 30 minutes, but now it's not working anymore. It just won't startup like I said later, with a black screen.
The computer did work for about half an hour. I mean, I managed to start it up but after executing a program, it just froze and I had to hold the power button to restart it. I did it about 3 or 4 times, then it simply did the black screen again. I think the problem is my processor, maybe it's damaged or something, could it be possible?
Because I see that the processor isn't working when I try to start it up.
So let's say it's damaged, would that be the symptoms of my computer?
And if it's the processor, the only way to fix it is to send it to a reparator or something, because I don't feel like it, I'd rather do it myself.
But right now, my computer is simply not booting, like I said in my previous post.

Please tell me it's not jailbroken. If it is, all bets are off. It is not...
First, try a system reset. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."
Finally, if the Restore doesn't work, let the battery drain completely. Then recharge for at least an hour and Restore again. -
1st generation iPod touch-screen stays black
I have a 1st generation iPod touch, but it's impossible to turn it on. I've tried pushing the home- and lock screen-button at the same time, and I've tried charging it, but the screen stays black. What else can I do?

Creative Cloud Desktop App stays black on installation
I 've been trying to install CC on my new laptop running Windows 8. Tried numerous times, including deleting the C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\OOBE folder, but to no avail. IBook screen stays black at reboot no matter what keys I hold down

This time, I had to force shutdown cause the finder wasn't responding when I was transferring a movie to AppleTV. But now when I try to reboot, the screen stays black no matter what. I've tried booting while holding C, holding the mouse button and alt, but nothing brings me to the boot screen like last time. Similarly, I was low on Gigs, but I had a couple left and was in the process of making room. Would really appreciate any hep. I feel like a moron .Were you getting warning messages that the hard drive is almost full? You may have corrupted the files on the HD.

2nd display connected to iMac stays black (Thunderbolt - HDMI)

with my new iMac (purchased 2 weeks ago) I have the problem that my 2nd display will stay black after I connected it to the Thunderbolt port. The display shows the blue background for a split second, then i goes black (and stays that way). I find the following lines in the log file:

The display is an AOC e2343F2, with two HDMI and one VGA port. I am using a Mini-Displayport to HDMI cable to connect the display. This worked with my Mac Pro (from 2006, AMD Radeon HD5770) without a problem.
Is this a problem with the in 10.7.x included drivers?

I tried it with 10.7.2 and 10.7.3 on the iMac and the Mac Pro. It works like a charm on the Mac Pro, but not on the iMac. Do I need to buy the overpriced Apple adapter and can't use my adapter cable anymore?Just a theory. Looking at the log errors you showed the system cannot get the display bounds. My theory is that the display is not able to pass the EDID (extended display identification data) through a TB port. While your 5770 could handle it the TB can't. Again, it's just my theory.
Another thing to check is your Displays system preferences. See if the Display is showing in the Arrangement tab. If so click Detect Displays and also Gather Windows to bring the second monitor's Displays preferences on to your main monitor. If you get this far then set the appropriate resolution and refresh rate (if refresh rate is shown).
If there is no Displays Arrangement tab then the system doesn't even know the second monitor is connected. I don't have a solution for this problem since I don't have TB. Although the resolution is not as good you may have to try a VGA adapter for that monitor. No guarantees that will work either of course. -

IMac starts with fan, screen stays black
When attempting to start my iMac G5 (Ambient Light Sensor), fans come on but screen stays black. A couple minutes later, the fans rev up and run very quickly and loudly. This started happening when:
1. One day the screen showed a green question mark with a message indicating that the computer needed to be restarted in a box
2. Green lines were all across the screen
3. I forced it to shut down by holding down the power button
4. When I attempted to start it back up the fans started but the screen stayed black
5. After a couple of minutes, the fans revved up
This has been happening ever since. One time the computer started to the desktop but everything was frozen. I have reset the PMU, checked the diagnostic LEDs, reset the PRAM-basically everything suggested. Can anyone help? Thanks!Try the suggestions mentioned in the following Articles:

Strongly recommend that you update to OS 10.4.11. Your system info confirms you are still using the basic Tiger OS. -
Brightness keys not working anymore and screen frequently flashing black and staying black!
I had my macbook pro in for repair twice last month. They replaced the logic board and had to take the screen off and look at it due to there being a potential crack. Now, when i got the macbook back the first time, after replacing the logic board, everything was fine, the brightness keys did not work at first but a restart fixed the problem. 5 days later i had it back in so they could look at the screen because i thought there was a crack on it, which turned out just to be some debris on the inside! Still had to pay a 50 quid inspection charge!
ever since the macbook has returned from this the brightness keys have had a delayed response in that, when i increase or decrease the brightness it took about 10 seconds for the screen to actually change. This happened everytime.
A few days ago for no reason, the screen started to occasianally flash black. It wasnt a problem at first, but sometimes it flashes back and stays black so i have to restart my computer. Sometimes when returning from sleep it stays black as well. On top of this, the brightness keys have completely stopped working all together now.
My laptop is not in warrenty anymore, it ran out after i got it back the second time. I was too busy with work and i needed to use the laptop so i couldnt really sort anything out.
Is there any policy saying that if the laptop comes back from repair and has new problems not caused by the customer, but by the repairer, then they will fix it free of charge?

Some "events" on "all events" stay black. Photos in them can not be opened in full size, why?
Some of my "events" on "all events" stay black. When i'am with the cursor over these "events" the pictures in it are shown. Why do these events stay black and why can't i open the pictures in it in full size? When i zoom them up they become a black triangle and the diashow shows only these black triangles.
Has anyone an idea how I can make those events and the photos in it to be seen and open in full sizes?The ! turns up when iPhoto loses the connection between the thumbnail in the iPhoto Window and the file it represents.
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

Hi, sometimes when I start up my Macbook the switch-on light stays on and the screen stays black. Then I have to turn it off and when I restart it boots normally. What can this be? Hi, hab ein seltsames Phänomen. Manchmal, vor allem nach ausgeschaltetem Zustand über Nacht, leuchtet nach dem Einschalten das Einschaltlicht auf und geht nicht wieder aus, wie normal wenn das Macbook startet, sondern bleibt an und der Bildschirm bleibt schwarz. Dann schalte ich das Macbook mit dem Ausschaltknof aus und warte ein paar Sekunden und schalte es dann wieder ein. Daraufhin startet es ganz normal. Woran könnte das liegen? Hab schonmal PRAM resettet und die Rechte auch repariert. Der Hardwaretest zeigt auch keine Probleme an. Kann man(n) noch irgendwie überprüfen, woran das liegen könnte oder hat das Problem auch schonmal jemand gehabt? Mein Macbook ist gradmal 2 Monate alt und hat das Problem erst seit kurzem. Könnte das vielleicht auch an einer Software liegen, die ich installiert habe. Kann sowas auch Auswirkungen auf den Bootvorgang haben? Bin Laie und würde gern wissen, ob sowas auch an der Pufferbatterie oder einer kalten Lötstelle liegen kann oder könnte das Macbook da dann gar nicht starten. Wäre für jeden Vorschlag dankbar... put me on the list as well. I was already in contact with ADC and it seems to me that they acknowledged it as a bug. I'm using a Mini-DVI-to-VGA adapter. And sporadically when unplugging it the internal display stays black or switches to the blue background and hangs there.
As I heard from friends who are using the Mini-DVI-to-DVI adapter in the same use case, this doesn't happen to them.

When my mouse hovers over the bar on firefox 4 it turns black so if i hover all of them all of them turn black and stay black and i cant see anything. Also I am using an alienware m11x with a dual core duo 2 Su700 (@1.3) (@1.3) with a 1g nvadia graphics card 335m geforce.
Make sure that you allow pages to choose their colors and that you haven't enabled High Contrast in the Accessibility settings.
