Big Scratch in the Middle

I've been using my black&white iPod 20GB for awhile. One day I accidently bumped the iPod (which was in my pocket) to the sharp edge of my desk. o.O
Now all there is left is a big dent/scratch on my iPod screen.If my run my thumb over it, I can feel that the scratch is pretty deep.
When it was scratched, the screen had black stuff all over it. Just like ink. I turned it off and it was all gone. Maybe I messed it up too much.
What should I do? Any suggestions?

I can tell you this much.. apple wont help you nor will they fix it.. the ink would lead me to believe that you broke your screen.. you can get it fixed via www.ipodmods.com or www.ipodresq.com
or you could also do a google search on "ipod repair" and you will find a ton of options.

Does Apple replaces iPad That have been scratch by the smart cover ?

Hi everyone !
Yesterday I found that I have a big scratch on the left side of my iPad third gen... This scratch have been made by my smart cover ... I called apple and they said that it's not suppose to happen ! I also read on Internet that when your iPad has this problem apple replaces yours for free ... Is that true ... Sorry for my bad English ;)

to be fair, apple gave me a new ipad and a new smart cover, but im pretty sure this will happen again.

ok so i just got my imac 21.5 i3 like a week ago and today i decided to clean the screen when i notice this big looking streak right in the middle of the monitor and say i wipe it with a free lint cleaning cloth the iklear provided and it goes away but then seconds it just comes back why can some please? is this normal ?what gives and what should i do thanks ?

Depends where you got it, if you purchased it at an Apple store call up and make an appointment to save dragging it around, if online contact support, if another outlet take it straight back.

If the marks are on the glass rather than the actual screen, it's an easy job (if you are careful) to remove and clean the glass. Not sure of the implications on your warranty, if you're still covered.

Refurb T440s - big piece of dust right in the middle of the screen? Low battery?

I'm really disappointed.
Just got a T440s refurb and there's a big giant piece of dust right in the middle of the screen like it's stuck between two panels or something. And the battery is at 57 minutes with 75% remaining. When I stick the second battery in it goes up to 2 hours. I thought it was supposed to last like 7 hours??

The dust has the obvious solutions. Hope your refurb has 1 year depot warranty.
As for the battery, what is the full charge capacity of each battery compared to the design capacity of the battery. HWmonitor can report these values.

Big white spot in the middle of iphone scree

I had a problem with my iphone last night, i left it charging overnight and this morning it was still on but the screen was completely black and it wouldnt respond to anything that i did. I tried doing the typical restoring and connecting it to itunes to restore it through there and it wouldnt respond. After a few hours while i was looking for a solution it just turned completely off because it ran out of battery. Now everything is working but there is a big white blotch in the middle of the screen, but it seems to be a surface thing, because when i take screenshots it doesnt show up on there. Is there anyway that i could get rid of this blotch? This is what it looks like, its see-through but its very bothersome. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Ok so I've done what you said and this is what it's come back ....
I don't know that these are the errors , but they're the things which don't look right ...
Throughout the shut down there is a recurring line ;
It says ;

Then there are 2 more which I think are related ;
Com.apple.securityd 29 PID job has I overstayed its welcome , forcing removal.
Then the same with fseventd 48 and diskarbitrationd 13

Then the last process says "about to call: reboot (RB_AUTOBOOT).
Continuing...

The middle section of my Firefox screen has small fonts. The left side has big fonts. I can't read my emails because the content is small

Mac Crashes in the middle of Time Capsule backup --HELP!

Been using time capsule for several months without any issues. In fact, it has been great until recently. A week or so ago, my MacBookPro began crashing in the middle of a time capsule back up. Just suddenly the MAC curtain comes down and tells me I must restart. When I restart I get an error message which I have copied into this message. I tried erasing a whole months worth of backups but still get the same problem........is it possible my MAC has gotten a virus?? Anyone who can help, your comments would be greatly appreciated!!!

Got this problem fixed. It seems the 10.5.3 update corrupted the update somehow. You can perform a disk image repair on the existing backup or just delete all your old back ups and start from scratch which is exactly what I did. Good luck!

I received a new Ipad2 for Christmas, I noticed the few times i used it the volume button was stuck , it would stay on the screen and keep Turning up, it has a dent where the volume isin the middle, apple said I could send it for a replacement but...

She also mentioned if I had an apple store here I could take it in it may be faster, we just had a new apple store that opened in our mall so I took it in, talked to the tech and he pushed the button to see what I meant, then he says yeah this is broken and dented from pushing so hard on it, I said it wasn't really dented that bad just the middle, it came that way, then he's says well we aren't actually a apple store we just sell there product here so you are best to go with Apple and send it too them like they said, I was dumbfounded I honestly think he made this worse when he pushed on it, now I am scared when apple receives me iPad they won't replace it like they said, it was bought this way apparently a bad lot went into the store my husband got it and they told everyone to call apple to replace because they don't replace electronics, I am freaked out now I feel screwed all the way around, what do you think Apples reaction will be, how good is their customer service in Canada when sent away? Big issue? Really? I'm on this forum just about every night and yet, I have not seen posts about such a "Big" issue with any regularity. If your iPad was dented when you got it (sorry for not really believing you), why did you wait until just now to try bringing this to anyones attention? My guess is you dented the iPad. Initially it wasn't an issue, but after pushing on the volume control too hard, it is an issue and you want a free replacement. I'm probably right on the money and you'll likely have a not too kind reply. That's OK, because I'm not the one who will decide the outcome of this. Apple will and for you to get an answer, take it to Apple. But, don't be too surprised when they don't offer a free replacement and they offer you an "out of warranty" replacement at about 50% of the cost of the device when it was new.

How to get rid of the banner in the middle that tells me the email is from/to, etc, I don't need that to take up space

I don't need to know who the email is from - again. It tells me that in the list of messages. I certainly don't need to be told that it came to me. In fact, none of that information is relevant. If I tag it I can tell by the colour where/what it is. All that info is reduntant, I can put the controls in the control bar but with that wide band in the middle, I lose the screen space for either list of messages or the actual message. Before the last edition I could get rid of it but not now to my knowledge.
BTW, the uploading of screenshot doesn't seem to work. The .jpg is 111kb, which doesn't seem to be big but maybe it is.

If you are talking about the header bar of the Message Pane the only way to get rid of it completely is to close the message pane by pressing F8.
There is a add on called Compact Header that will let you make it smaller.

SBS 2011; Exchange ActiveSync problems in the middle of a migration

We're in the middle of a migration from SBS 2003 to SBS 2011 and are stuck in the lengthy process of moving users' mailboxes.
At this point, I have about 20 percent of the users' email on the SBS 2011 box, and the rest still on the SBS 2003 box.
Right now I have to quickly deal with an issue that's cropped up with Exchange ActiveSync:
I ran the Connectivity Analyzer for a user (this one's box had been migrated) and got the error below. By the looks of the error, I don't think it matters where the mailbox happens to reside ...
The SBS 2011 box has been set up using a migration install and the procedures listed in the MS migration docs.
At the rate we're going, it's still going to take a while to migrate these mailboxes. (The fact that they began tonight was actually an accident.) If mobile users can't get their mail, I'm going to have a big mess on my hands ...
What do I need to do to get this running properly for all users?

Neither of the Exchange servers is publicly listed as the mail handler for this domain. Mail is preprocessed by a cloud spam filtering service before coming down. So I expect no changes in MX records -- not even a change in the spam filter's delivery IP
address, since that points to my firewall. I'll forward SMTP traffic to the new server when the time comes.
I was told by MS that moving the mailboxes would not disrupt anything as long as both SBS boxes were up and running. And despite what the Connectivity Analyzer showed, people in this office have been receiving email on their mobile phones all day. I've had
a few sporadic reports of people supposedly not getting email on their smartphones, but I can't see how anything I did (basically just move mailboxes at this point) could allow some people's phones to get mail while others' can't, when everyone was getting
mail yesterday.
I also have an odd report from someone who claims that his mobile phone is processing email just fine, but his MacBook running Entourage suddenly can't connect.
Oh well ... The day is over (at least for the workers). Hopefully by the time the workers return on Monday, I'll be back to having just one SBS box on the network.
The mailboxes are being moved A LOT faster than any of the documents I read warned me they would. One document said that a 75 GB database could take close to 48 hours to transfer. And this server's Exchange database was 67 GB ... But last night's
"accident" (I thought I was only prepping a new database when in fact the machine was actively moving email into it) resulted in about 40% of the mailboxes being completely moved by 8 a.m.. And since 5 p.m., when I restarted the move requests,
the machine has completed the moves of about 20% more mailboxes. So I expect this part to be over probably by early morning. (The ones that remain are the really big ones -- still, after I spent a week doing mailbox housekeeping.)
I was also warned about the lengthy conversion requirements for the public folders. I transferred those last weekend. The whole process was over with in less than four hours. Go figure ...
(The public folder transfer did have an annoying side effect -- I kept receiving warning after warning via email from the SBS 2003 box about a high number of items in Exchange's send queues ...)
