Big ten newtwork

why wasn't the penn state game on the big ten network as advertised?  it was on with comcast....hmmm this is the second time Verizon has chosen not to show the penn state game while comcast has.  what am I paying for?

There were a lot of unhappy Penn State fans. The agreement between the network and Verizon allows Verizon to select one game to broadcast nationally.  They did not choose the PS game.

  • Will the Big Ten Network overflow channels be available in my area by Sept. 5th?

It seems that the majority of the nation has gotten the Big Ten Network overflow channels on 330-333.  These came on-line sometime in late July.  However, I have yet to receive them and the supervisor at Verizon whom I spoke to yesterday says that my "region" doesn't have them and doesn't know if I'll be getting them.
I have the regular BTN channel and the BTN HD.  Why is it that folks in the town next door to me, folks in Virginia, and folks in Califormia have these channels, and I do not?
Will they be available in time for the first Big Ten football games on September 5th?
I live in Lawrenceville, NJ, and have the "Hopewell Township" line-up.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

For everyone that is serviced out of VHO8 (Philly area, DE, South Jersey) - we should see the channels come online the last week of August.
Additional project work is in progress at the VHO which has held up the launch. No worries - we'll have them before the first PSU game.

  • Big ten channel 2 HD

when will this channel be avaiable in hd in philly area?

Having looked at the listings on BTN, it looks like maybe they have scheduled the games so that they no longer need more than 2 overflow channels.  Someone following the Big Ten more closely than me might know better, but I seem to recall on the past that there was generally just the early kickoff for the Big Ten games on BTN.  It appears that with as many as 3 daily start times, they are spreading the game out through the day so there are never more than 3 games (regular BTN + 2 overflows) at a time.
    Hopefully all is well.
But I agree with the previous poster.  I would love to get BTN2Go.  This seems like the kind of perk Verizon usually offers us.

  • PETITION TO ADD BIG TEN NETWORK SPILLOVER CHANNELS TO FIOS

I don't actually know if anyone looks at these boards from Verizon but it is worth a try.
If you would like to Verizon to add the BIG TEN NETWORK SPILLOVER CHANNELS please leave a message here. Big Ten fans recognize that it is important to have all the Big Ten Football games available in all Big Ten states, for fans of different Big Ten teams live all over Big Ten Country. Second, when Verizon provides a channel to its customers it should provide all programming available from that channel and not just a portion. Further, it undermines the purpose of having the Big Ten Network if Verizon is unwilling to broadcast Big Ten games in teams' home states. For example broadcasting the Penn State game in ALL of PA, instead of broadcasting the Ohio State game in all networks.
Please add the BTN spillover channels to the FIOS network.

I agree and sign your petition, but unfortunately this forum is probably not the right place since it is a peer-to-peer forum and not a company forum.
    You could try posting HERE
The link above is to a forum that is answered by Verizon although they typically deal with technical problems not programming issues.

  • No Big Ten Network on FIOS for the start of the season?

Verizon signed a contract with BTN in July and I still won't have BTN to start the football season in Philadelphia! Time Warner and Mediacom just signed this week and will have the games available for Saturday. Comcast signed a contract at the same time and started BTN coverage Aug 15. I live in a Big Ten state where there is demand to see PSU, what gives?

I am actually an Iowa fan, so I am hoping that FIOS will have all the spillover games as well. If they don't I am switching back to Comcast because Comcast has all the spillover games. I am upset that I have to go to a bar and grill to watch the game instead of staying at home to watch them because that will mean I have to limit my comments and I will undoubtedly get crap from Penn State fans for watching the Iowa game, which is not so bad because most of the Penn State fans have been pretty nice. I just called Big Ten Network and they didn't have a specific date for me as to when I would get BTN, just that FIOS planned to roll it out between August 25th and September 16th. I told the guy that I was frustrated and he hinted at the fact the BTN was a little disappointed with FIOS for not providing the games to its customers for the start of the season. He also said that FIOS has not been telling people when they will get BTN, for others they have added the channel late, and in some markets it has just shown up without an announcement. I am happy with all other aspect of FIOS TV, but this one just makes no logical sense. I am sure we are in the minority, as most customers could care less if they get BTN.

  • Big Ten Network - Alternate Programming

I'm  recent transfer from DirecTV and am confused about the Big Ten Network programming on Comcast.  BTN routinely broadcasts multiple games at the same time on football Saturdays.  On DirecTV, channel 610 carried the primary game, and channel 611 or 612 carried an alternate game.  When I switched to Comcast, I was told it worked the same way ... channel 37 is the primary BTN and channel 255 is the alternate.   But, this past Saturday, while DirecTV carried both the Penn State and Iowa games, Comcast carried only the Penn State game.  It was televised on both 37 and 255.  This coming Saturday (Sep 11), DirecTV is scheduled to carry both the Minnesota game and the Purdue game.  Comcast is scheduled to carry only the Minnesota game, on both 37 and 255. Can anyone help me with this?  Does Comcast carry the alternate BTN programming like I was told?  Am I just looking at the wrong channels?  Thanks.

In your area of Minnesota, the Big Ten Network can be found on channel 27 and in HD on channel 867. Overflow channels are channels 692 and 693.

  • Big Ten Network - Ashburn, VA

Is there any information about when the Big Ten Network is going to be rolled out in the Northern Virginia area (specifically area code 20148, Loudoun County)?
I saw that Richmond will be getting it starting August 13th, but I don't think that will apply to me.
Any news from anyone?  I called tech support (888-553-1555) and they didn't even know the Big Ten Network was on FiOS yet
Please reply with any information you might have!
    Thanks,

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I was at the Verizon Experience Store at Fair Oaks Mall on Sunday - 8/10/2008.  After purchasing a new cell phone, I walked over to the FIOS TV area and asked a sales/tech rep when all the new, promised FIOS HD channels would be available in NoVA.  He queried the internal Verizon FIOS web site and determined that the first set of new HD channels will be available by the end of August 2008.  Included in this list was the Big Ten Network HD.   Being a  Penn Stater living in Fairfax, that is great news.  Lots of other HD channels will be introduced in stages during the Fall 2008.  Go Lions - beat the Buckeyes!

  • Big Ten Network Issue

I am in the suburbs of Philly (Eagleville, PA). We finally received the Big Ten Network about a week ago but it almost impossible to watch right now. Currently there are interruptions every few seconds. The picture and sound jump almost like a scratched DVD. Is anyone else having this problem? Is Verizon working to fix this problem? This is insane. Why do we pay so much money for shotie service?

Tune into the channel and hit "power, select, select" then check in "Bin status" and look for "s over n" that value should be over 30. If not there could be issues from a bad ONT (happened to me but only affected the phone), bad splitter or cable.
Reset the router (hard reset small red button) and reset  your boxes (online). Other than that it could be a Verizon VHO problem. Are neighbors in your area experiencing this?
I am not a tech, but if the tech said it's too hot then came back and said it was not....either the tech has no clue or there are fluctuations caused by the VHO or ONT....that would be my final answer.
Do you have any splitters in the line, if so, go to Lowes or Walmart and get a -3Db splitter and try that....it will cost you about $7. if it does not work you can bring it back.

  • Big Ten Network Fiasco

Being located between Philadelphia and State College, PA, and like hundreds of thousands of others in PA, I am a huge Penn State and was looking forward to this matchup with the local Temple Owls on the Big Ten Network.
Instead, I'm treated to Purdue - CMU!  If they tried, Verizon could not have shown more incompetence in airing the wrong game!!
So, I called Verizon, and they told me it was the Big Ten Network's fault, that the BTN controls  programming.  This I know is complete {word filter} (and Verizon knows it too).  The BTN provides all games at no extra charge to Verizon and Verizon made the executive decision to only air one game instead of all of them on overflow channels (like most other providers do).  I'm sure the decision is money-related, and it has led to the confusion resulting in the wrong games being aired in the wrong areas.
OK, now I've been lied to by a Verizon representative, so I speak with the supervisor.  The supervisor admits I've been lied to and tells me a "work ticket" is in and the situation will be rectified in the next 24 hours!!  Hello, a game is 3-1/2 hours long.  Even worse, this is an easy fix.  Because the BTN provides all of the games (again, no extra charge to Verizon), it's a simple software fix of switching the feeds, which shouldn't take more than five minutes.
The game is now almost over.  No fix!
So, to review, we've been deceived in that the BTN would be available on time (wasn't available until 3rd game of season), deceived in that Verizon would air all BTN games, screwed over in that they can't even air the right games, lied to by their representatives, and deceived and effectively dismissed by their supervisors.
Customer service is not part of the equation.  We have to start holding these {please keep your posts courteous} accountable.

    You know Charlotte
It's like this, I just had to chime in. Everytime I have sent an Email to customer support, (Contact Us) it is like an automated system pulls an answer from the FAQ database. If I wanted to hear and answer from the FAQ I would go there. I have never received an answer from what seemed to be a live body. The contact us email address is {word filter avoidance}  or a joke. I love the system but must agree regarding customer service. Everytime I have tried to resolve an issue via Email I must say it's like talking to an idiot! Resolving a billing issue took months. After talking to three different supervisors, the last one I think may have fixed it. I need to wait for this months bill. The last one looked right, but I will need to see if it stays thay way. It is a shame that I needed to threaten them with switching to Comcast since VZ violated the two year Tripple Play agreement I have with them. I see that it is mostly a one way agreement. If you complain and say you are going to cancel because VZ messed up your service agreement, you are told that the early termination charge will have to be paid. If you go to the better business bureau and look up Verizon and Comcast, Verizon is not very far behind them on the number of complaints regarding customer service, and billing.

  • Big Ten Network overflow channels

In years past, Verizon has offered all 4 overflow channels that the big ten network uses to show all of its college football games on channels 330-333. They are still listed on the channel lineup page for my area. However, at the moment, the program guide only shows two overflow channels 330-331.
Can we expect the other channels to be turned on before game day? I called fios but didn't get much help. She seemed to think I was having a tech problem, but even the fios mobile app and website only list the 2 channels on their tv listings.

    Big Ten Network Online !
BTN lets you take the Big Ten with you with live 24/7 viewing of BTN programming and live game telecasts.

Not sure why this is news.  I watched plenty of Big Ten Channel games on-line last year.  I guess it takes Verizon 8 months to add a link in their portal and send the PR statement.

  • Big Ten Network--Maryland vs. Indiana

I am at a loss as to why FIOS is only showing this game on standard definition in Maryland. I realize that only one of the BTN football channels is in HD, but why wouldn't that channel be reserved for the Maryland game for viewers in this state? Surely it can't be that difficult to rotate the available games between the different Big Ten Network channels based on the location of the viewers. The Big Ten Network states that it places no restrictions on which channels the providers use for particular games, so clearly this is a FIOS issue and it is an unfortunate one.

    Bump.
Comcast moved the game to it's BTN HD channel!
DirectTV has all the BTN channels in HD!
FIOS, what's your move?  At least move maryland games to the HD channel in the DC area.  Even better, match DirectTV and have all BTN channels in HD.

  • Big Ten Network

I'm trying to obtain information on the Comcast website as to subscribing to the Big Ten Network, but I can't find it in any channel listings. I have Digital Starter. Thanks.

I don't know if you can subscribe only to the Big Ten Network; you'd need to ask your local Comcast customer service people.  Here in the Seattle are, BTN is one of the channels you get with the "Sports and Entertainment" package.  The Comcast.net channel lineup for your area/zip code should have it listed if it is available at all. I say "if" becasue it may not be available in your area. We cannot get either the ACC or SEC network here (either or which I'd prefer personally as an uprooted Southerner).

  • Big Ten Network on iPad 1

I have downloaded the app, BTN2GO.  When I launch the app, it asks for my provider which is DISH.  It the asks for me to login to my Dish account which I do, then it removes all the login prompts and just "hangs" at the DISH login window and does not move on to showing the game.
When I use my desktop iMac goint to BTN2GO.com, all works well.  Although, I noticed when loging in on the iMac, it requires Adobe Flash Player.  Why would Apple approve an app for the iPad that requires FlashPlayer?
    Any help will be apprciated.
    Thanks.

The app does not use Flash. The app's support site says:
I am a DISH Network subscriber but I cannot access BTN2Go.
If you are a DISH Network subscriber, you must also subscribe to America's Top 120 plus or greater package and must reside in Ohio, Michigan, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Indiana, Iowa and Nebraska (excluding the Philadelphia and Louisville DMAs). If you live outside any of these areas and want to gain access to BTN2GO, you must be subscribed to the Multi-Sports Pack.
For Further questions or details, please visit DISH Network Customer Care.
so perhaps that will either provide a clue or send you to someplace that can help.
    Regards.

  • First time posting, about the last time I try to fix iTunes before I give up

I'm probably not going to make friends amongst the Apple-o-philes. PC user. deal with it; iPhones were sold to us as platform independent; iTunes is offered as a product that works with Windows. OK. I bought into it; my third iPhone, got one for my girlfriend, got 4,000 songs in iTunes. And I find rather than my Apple product making my life better, faster, quicker, stronger, more efficient, I'm spending hours every month doing things I've done or had to do now a dozen times. Every time there is an update, now I have three computers to update and it totally scrambles my music library with now four copies of every file.
Eventhe Apple boards I see online say "Oh, it will take you a few hours, but it's worth it"
That's not the point - why is it neccessary? Arent computers the kind of thing you'd use to sort through a list of 10,000 anythings and let the processor find the 2,500 you want so a human doesn't have to waste "a few hours"????
That there is now an aftermarket program offered for sale at $20 or more to fix the problems with iTunes libraries should embarass someone imprtant at Apple. It surely makes a good argument why we don't see the "I'm a Mac"/"I'm a PC" ads, because my Mac products (iPhones/iTunes) have cost me a lot of money, and taken a lot of my time.' at this point as much if not more than my 3 PC's. My frustration has brought me to tears, and unfortunately in the wake of the death of Steve Jobs, I'm going to say something that may sound "too soon" or at least sacreligious:
If I have "Manage music manually" checked, why can't I just click-and-drag a song straight from Windows into iTunes.? Onto my iPhone?
I mean it was Macintosh that brought the world the computer mouse, at least how most of us learned to use one is because Mac had it first. Click and drag is something that came first to Mac OS, second to Windows.
Why can I not drag a song, a podcast, a movie, from it's Windows location to iTunes, drop it on my iPhone and find it on the phone? Why do I have to go through this "sync" madness to risk wiping my phone clean in the process (as it did once already)? Why does "manually manage music" do no good, because if I drag a song anywhere onto the iTunes window, i Can't drop it anywhere.
I magange to get a Bachelor's degree from a Big Ten university, in of all things Computer Graphics Design. My experience with iTunes and my iPhone at times make me feel like someone must have dressed me in the morning and fed me liquid food through a straw because surely someone this hapless is too hopeless to chew and swallow on his own.
Next, Apple wants me to pay for the cloud, pay for support by the call, pay $40 for a new cord every time the dog chews one or when it comes apart on it's own (which any cable that costs $40 ought not to do under normal use) -
I feel used by Apple. I used to love my original iPod, right now I feel like a stooge and I'm having confidence issues about life in general because iTunes has broken my spirit, and the money-sink reality of this thing is making me glad the cassette deck in my car still works and my mix tapes just don't disappear like my playlists.
Should I just kill myself? This is almost a serious question - because I go up an ddown these forums and I see hundreds, thousands of questions - spent two hours looking for an answer before I posted this one - I can't find an answer.
