Big trouble with re-install

I have re-installed PSE3 three times now. When the welcome sign comes up and asks, I choose to "always start with the organizer". It loads, up come my pictures just as before, but when I try to put one in the editor I receive the message:
"Unable to connect to editor application"
Anyone know what's happening here? Barbara? Please?
On my next re-install, I thought I'd choose to "start with the editor" and see what happens, but that won't be ideal for my way of working, so I thought I'd get this message up now.

Jack, when you reinstall are you getting rid of the old preferences before reinstalling? You should. If your problem is really from bad prefs (most likely), you can reinstall all day long without fixing anything.
Also, are you giving it time? I often get that warning the first time after a reinstall, but it really does launch the editor, although it may open minimized.

I haven't got any more replies to my post "I'm having big trouble with my new mainboard" by Krelian 2003.09.13 at 05:25. Please help! I've been struggling with this for a LONG time. And now my computer won't boot at all! Sometimes the LED's in front of the computer lights up for half a second, and nothing more happens. The only sign of life is the green light in the LAN jack. It happened after I took the ide cable for my harddrive in and out of the mainboard. This is insane, how can that suddeny happen :O ?! I was asked by wonkanoby to post max amps for my PSU, I did, and I really need to know if I maybe need a new PSU, since he asked that. Can a new PSU solve all the problems mentioned in my previous posts? Everything was fine except that I couldn't get into Windows, before i tried another harddrive on my computer. How can that complicate things so much? I have tried going barebone, and taking out the cmos battery and setting the jumpers JBAT1, J10 and J11. I have also tried every suggestion I got. Please help! I really need to get this fixed!

Some power supplies or designed so that if there is a short or overload they shut them selfs off and some will not turn back on. Some have a relay that will click back on and work, some you have to cycle the power switch. Those that won't come back on will have to be replaced. I'm not saying that yours is that type as I have no way of telling. But if you have a friend who will loan you a good power supply you might try it. As someone else said just turning off the power will not darn all the power from some motherboards. To test this turn off your power supply than turn on the computer with the start botton. Mine will flash the lights and fans will start to spin than die. So every time you turn off computer to work on it. After turning off PSU hit the start botton to drian any power left in it before working on it. Also do this after unplugging it just to make sure.

I'm having trouble with the install of Adobe digital editions

I'm having trouble with the install of Adobe digital editions, how can we fix this? It will begin to dowload it says complete but stops there, no other prompts and if you click the close button it appears that it begins to delete itself. How can i fix this issue?

Big troubles with FTP upload since upgrade to leopard

Hello out there,
I made an upgrade from tiger to leopard 3 weeks ago (10.5.7) on my iMac (Intel - early 2006). Since this time I Have big troubles with ftp upload.
I'm using Cyberduck as FTP client and it worked very well before but since the upgrade it starts quick and falls down to a view kb after a view seconds. Sometimes it stops completely.
Target Server is checked and working well. Also the ISP is fine (tested with a windows machine).
As it is important for my business (photographer) I would appreciate if somebody can give me a quick hint how to solve this problem.

I am also experiencing this problem, but only (so far) with one hosting company of the many I FTP into (web designer). The symptoms are exactly as reported above. Files initially start uploading fine, then slow to a crawl and stall. This is the same regardless of FTP software. Error reports say the server is not responding.
This problem is the same using my daughter's computer (also running 10.5.7), but my son (being my son) hasn't updated his OS since 10.5.5 and I encounter NO problems whatsoever FTPing from his machine, nor from a PC.
It's only the uploads that seem to cause a problem. Communicating with the server to download, rename, move or delete files presents no issues.
(In trying to track down where the problem was, I also discovered that the traceroute command to any site on both 10.5.5 and 10.5.7 stalls at the modem, though pings work fine as does tracert from the PC.)

Big trouble with my KT4 Ultra

My computer is up and running now, but with only one memory module!
After a test with memtest-86, it shows that i got one bad memory module. Thats why I have all this trouble.
This is what i read about the mainbord about memory, so it should work with 2 x 256M PC3200 memory.

Trouble with Leopard install...

I am trying to install leopard on my macbook pro and it showed an icon of my HD with a yellow exclamation point, saying I needed to change my install options. The only two options were Journaled or case-sensitive Journaled. (both needing to erase my HD.) I selected Journaled and clicked install. The DVD ran a check and then said that it could not be installed, with this error message:
"Installer could not create the folder "/Volumes/MacintoshHD/BaseSystem.pkg.1432Vz5v8"
I clicked on restart to try again. It is currently checking the DVD again. If it fails, what should I do?

If there's nothing on your hard drive that you want to preserve, I suggest erasing using the disk utility on the installation DVD. You can access this utility from the "utilities" menu, and use the Disk Utility to verify the disk before you proceed with the install. I suggest doing a full "write to zeros", which will take a little while but will be one additional way to ensure that the disk is functioning correctly.

Trouble with Maverick install

Trouble downloading and installing Maverick on Mac Pro. Computer is from 2007 and running snow leopard Mac OS X (10.6.8)- seems ot have plenty of available space and memory...

There are ways to get Mountain Lion or Mavericks onto a 2006 or 2007 Mac Pro. Some are discussed at xlr8yourmac.com.
Do you have a specific need for Mavericks? I am running it wirh caution on only one drive, until the various bugs are addressed. Still using Snow Leopard for everything that matters.
If you are worried about the lack of security updates for Safari 5, just use something else. Current versions of Firefox or Chrome work in Snow Leopard.

Big Trouble with iMovie

I recently upgraded to a new graphics card (ATI Radeon 800XT) to support an Apple 30 cineman display on my Dual 2.5 GHz PowerPC G5.
All other applications (iPhoto, Freeway, Photoshop, Safari) seem to work fine. However, iMovie doesn't. The application opens from the dock and reads files, but I can not activate anything with a mouse click in the iMovie window. The elements in the window are totally nonresponsive. I can however, close, export and do other menu-driven things in the iMovie control bar.
Some things I've tried:
1. I deleted the iMovie preference files (I found only one)--no help
2. The imovie files in question are on an external drive--but that drive works fine and can be accessed directly
3. I was having trouble with frozen start-up when I first set up new graphics card. I figured the computer was trying to read the old graphic card's driver. I delted all items with the old graphics card name and that fixed the start-up problem. When I put these back in it does not seem to help the imovie problem
Any ideas?
Any chance that reinstalling iLife will help?

....to support an Apple 30 cinema display on my Dual 2.5 GHz PowerPC G5. ... ... iMovie is simply overwhelmed by such hardware!! sorry, just a silly joke, SCNR!!!!

and after 10 minutes ring, ring, ring. Is super, i do not oversleep.
In my NEW !!! Nokia X3 02: I sleep. Alarm ring. Whith closed my eyes touch to
display or any key. ALARM TOTAL OFF and i oversleep to my work. For snooze alarm
to 10 minutes i must open eyes, touch to one small button, write unlock key, send
unlock key and set snooze alarm on left corner my display. Oh my god !!!! This is
NEW mobile with NEW operation system for users ???? Please modify this function.
I must use my old NOKIA for this problem. X3 02 is fine mobile for users standard
mobile. This function is very bad and total degradate this mobile for me.
Please add users option for snooze touch to display or any keys to new firmware.

I've had the same problem ,and the only remedy (for me ) is to always set the date On 02/05/2011 and then set up the alarm on Am/pm setup
Only then the alarm works ,even on the next day i.e. 03/05/2011 the alarm doesn't work and show me message like "168 hours remaining" ,you always need to set it up to 02/05/2011 (Well i don't exactly know if that date will work for you ...but surely the soluution is to set it the a date it will work ...try many dates

Browser troubles with newly installed Tiger

Since installing 10.4.6, I'm having trouble getting to most websites with any of the browsers on my machine. This includes Safari, Camino, and even Internet Explorer 5.2. The problem is not consistent, as I will get an error message several times, and then get through (sometimes). An example of the error mesages:
Google Error
Not Found
The requested URL /exchange/ was not found on this server.
My ISP (Earthlink) suggested I delete all cookies containing earthlink.net, which did not solve the problem. I tried deleting all cookies, which still did not solve the problem. I don't know if it's a compatibility problem between the browsers and the OS, between Earthlink and the OS, or what. Help!

Intermittent sounds like Hardware, but try trashing the "/Users/nnnn/Library/Preferences/com.apple.internetconnect.plist" for a start.

Big trouble with importing my .MOV files into any editing software.

Hi All
I am new to the forum and i would like to ask you a really big question that has been bugging me for days now.
I have a Cannon 700D and i have CS 4 pro and Cyberlink Powerdirector 12. Both worked fine with any other video file, but when i tried to import a file originating from my cannon 700D camera both of the softwares stated that the files were either corrupted or not supported. The error message also stated that i should call the video provider to ask for an alternative video footage (which is me ). I tried having quick time installed so that it could install various other kinds of CODEC so that it could read and I have also tried switching the camera settings from PAL to NSTC. I would be really glad if anybody could give me an explanation and a detailed explanaiton on how to fix my problem. Thank you very much in advance.

I'm having big trouble with my new mainboard.

I've bought myself a new mainboard, a MSI K7N2 Delta-L. I was having trouble getting Windows XP to detect my harddrive, but then I found out that I had to to first format my harddisk. But now I've got a new problem. I first tried a different harddrive on my computer, to see if something was wrong with my harddrive. But, there wasn't, since I tried my harddrive on another computer, and it worked. So, when I put my harddrive back into my computer, I can't enter BIOS. The screen either turns white, or some colors appear, and nothing happens. If I start without trying to enter BIOS, the same thing happens after detecting IDE devices (which takes an unusally long amount of time). When the white screen is up, my CD-rom tries to start my Windows XP cd several times, but, nothing happens. How can I get my computer to start normally, so that I can reinstall Windows and live happily ever after.

I pulled the jumper out of my harddisk, and it detected IDE devices extremely fast, as it should. But, I still can't enter BIOS. After detecting IDE devices, the screen turns white, but not for long, I could hear the harddrive booting, and the Windows XP boot screen appeared for about half a second. Then the computer restarted, and the same happened again.

Big troubles with loading Sun Java on my laptop,

I can download Jre-1_~1.exx 16291424 this Java download from Java, only it won't load on my computer laptop, I have a IBM Thinkpad that also has 128 bits of memory, and is running Windows 98, and Internet Explorer 6.0, I keep getting this error all the time, the error is 1722, there is a problem with this Windows Installing Package. i have a zen 6gb and windows vista won,t install the driver . When i put the disc in which came with the player to install I go through all the disc like it says to be told at the end windows could not find the driver my computer is a acer 32 bit'swith vista premium new and also my mp3 is new so what is the problem
can anyone help i,m getting rather fed up of goin round in circles

If you haven't already, try running the installer as an Administrator user for the computer. If you aren't familiar with that topic then enter "Run as Administrator" as the subject the built-in Windows Help system. It should tell you. I don't have a Vista computer around me at the moment to give precise instructions.
