People with an iPod Touch use Maps with a Wi-Fi connection and people with an iPhone have Wi-Fi and cellular internet access. To download a map or directions does not involve a great deal of data download but will be an additional cost as with any such device when roaming internationally.

Another test I just did was to request directions from my current location to a saved bookmark.
After the directions were rendered, I enabled Airplane mode and I was able to view the directions turn by turn without having an internet connection.

  • Bump Map Issue?

    I made a flame shape in color using Photoshop and then imported the object into Motion. I used the bump map filter for this layer and imported Smoke.mov from the Content Folder, to create a more realistic feel and movement for the object I created. This worked, however I now have a black background for my layer, the flame I created. My question is: is this because the background of the Smoke.mov is black? I know this sounds elementary, but I did try to make the movie as an Animation, and as NTSC/DV, also using the Alpha Channel and Transparent....every way I tried to get a transparent background for my layer didn't work. So, here I am asking the pros......thanks in advance for any help you can give me! Lucind

    Initially, am glad for the response.
    Though I have maintained the region keys with the city names with the right letters, I couldn't see the newer 2 cities of the country on the map..
    I guess I should find alternatives to embed new maps vie some other technologies or Add-ons...

  • Animated bump map filter, how to ?

    Hi(Bonjour)!
    I want to animate on a path an small oval shape and use this shape as a bump map in a bump map filter ( or displace filter). The goal is to "push out" a small portion of my movie like if someone is pushing beneath the screen.
    The result doesn't animate and despite many tweakings, the bumped portion is a large oval instead of finger's tip.
    Motion manual says :
    +"Bump Map+
    +This filter uses a source object to define a bump pattern which can be used to deform+
    +an object, with parameters to control the amount of distortion. You can use any image,+
    +movie, or shape as the source object."+
    How to achieve this effect?

    Yes it seems to blow up anything in the image well to fill the screen.

  • Bump mapping with pixel shaders

    if you enable "pixel shader" you will see a nice bump-mapping
    i know the old method for bump-mapping ( using the #speculalLight textureMode, masked by another texture ) but this one seems to be hardware-managed by new video cards
    i didn't find how to parameter the shaders in director documentation to perform hardware bump-mapping and other effects
    has someone found the doc ?

    for the moment we can use the oldschool bump mapping:
    - first texturelayer = halo texture with #specularLight or #reflction uv projection
    - second texturelayer = bump texture with #multiply blendfunction
    - third textureLayer = main texture with #add blendfunction
    - fourth textureLayer = lightmap
    of course its faster and more realistic when hardware managed

    Normally, for F2 type of Billing document DR type of Accounting document is created.
    Similarly, for G2(Credit memo) ,accounting doc type DG and for Billing type L2( Debit memo) accounting doc type NN should be created.
    But those Account document type must have been specified in the respective Billing doc type( VOFA) in the "Document type" field.
    If the above field is blank in the Billing type, then irrespective of any Billing type, system will create Accounting document type RV.

  • How can I disable auto-update/save when editing a Bump/Specular/Normal map in 3D?

    Im working on a rather large comp, and while triyng to paint on my bump material PSB, the auto-save/update feature is really making the process painstakingly antagonizing. Is there any way to disable this? Note, I am not referring to the general auto-save, this is only in regards to 3D material editing.

    If you do not like a feature like smart objects there is nothing forcing you to use it. Use some other features to do what you want. Please don't ask Adobe to introduce bug into smart object support.
    You could work on your bump maps textures in external files. When your done some time in the future you could edit your project with the smart object layer and use replace smart object. Only then will all smart filters be applied to the smart layer with the replaced smart object.
    Or if by CC Auto save Layer you referring to CC Generate feature you can disable that feature.
    I have no idea what your referring to when you write "CC auto-saves the layer" being a feature. I know CC Generate will write layers out as web files but that more a Web feature then a 3d feature.  Where do you see your layer being saved?

    I have a senario ,which we will create sales orders for customers with sales price equals to the MAP(moving average price) at the  time when the SO being input .And the sales price in sales orders should be copy to the billing whether  the MAP has changed or not .
    Now I have set up an pricing procedure ,which  use  VPRS  as the sales price condition type ,but here comes another question when I create billing according to the delivery . When I create the billing document ,the net value is defferent with the net value of the sales order ,because the MAP has changed during the goods issue.
    Is there any idea that can make sure the sale price equals to the MAP , and the billing net value is same as sales order net value?

    The pricing type (Copy control)  is an extremely important field. It is worthwhile keeping this entry
    in mind when creating your pricing condition types. As a rule of thumb, you should
    have all item categories for a particular sales document with the same settings.
    Generally, you may use pricing type B (carry out new pricing), G (copy pricing
    elements unchanged and redetermine taxes), or C (copy manual pricing elements
    and redetermine the others).
    When using condition B all manual pricing condition types are lost.
    If you want to copy the sales order to the invoice without changing the sales order
    conditions, use pricing rule G. This will copy the pricing conditions from the order into the
    invoice without changing them, but will redetermine the taxes.

    Yes indeed there is a impact of MULTI-ORG on the Service Module in 11i.
    All the things are integrated now.
    Everything is dependent on the MO:Operating Unit Profile Option and the setup which you had done.
    1)
    Security on SR creation Form:-
    See you can implement the security, but for that you have to setup accordinglly and also to follow the process.
    If you create 2 responsibilities with MO profile option different, then none of them will able to see the others data.
    Note:-
    But if you are using the instance to generate the SR, then you had to make it sure that the ITEM which you are using should be assigned to the Operating unit which is set in the MO profile Options of that responsibility.
    2)
    Debrief Form:-
    As you must know that for debrief to work, you had to setup the Service Activities.
    This is where you can define the security.
    1) Create a Service activity,
    2) Map it with BILLING TYPES
    3) Map the Billing Types with Order Management Header and the Line Type
    This the place where you can specify the Operating Unit.
    When a user will log in and open a debrief form, then he will be able to see only those service activities which are mapped with the operating unit as that of set in MO Profile Option to the user.
    3)
    Charges:-
    The same as the debrief is applied on the charges TAB.
    Here you will only able to see the Service activites which are mapped with the operating unit as that of set in MO operating unit.
    If you want ITEM level security, then you will be only able to see the items which are assigned to the Operating unit as that of set in the MO profile option.

  • How do I disable linked smart-object auto-update/refresh?

    Working in the CC3D features, I am constantly making changes to my bump map. Every time I step-backwards, or make a significant change to the bump texture (smart object?), CC auto-saves the layer. This specific file is a very very large document (3 gigs in the bump texture layer alone), and the 3D layer has lots of lights and is very complex. This auto-refresh/update really bogs down the time that it would take me to make my changes. I have a very fast machine (I know it's fast, I dont need to list my specs), and I have all shadows disabled.

    APPLICATION  COEXISTENCE
    Lightroom 4 Beta + Photoshop CS6 beta -- Editing the same video file simultanously in both applications may result in an error, crash, or blank (transparent) frames. You might see this Photoshop error: "Could not complete the Render Video command because of a problem with Adobe Media Encoder".
    This will only be an issue with Lightroom 4 beta and Photoshop CS6 beta on the same system, editing the same video. The released versions will not have this issue.
    Workaround: Upgrade to LR Release version (even if it's just the trial), or don't open the same file in both apps at the same time.
    CS5 Help fails to launch after install of CS6
    Workaround: Launch the stand alone "Adobe Help" application or reinstall CS5

    Crop action shows wrong crop box.Playing an action with a crop step that has dialogs turned on results in a crop box that covers the entire canvas instead of the expected area.

    Liquify will perform the filter and save to just part of the photo if you click cancel while it is "finishing processing" a large file.
    LAYERS
    If a vector layer has a center-aligned stroke combined with an inside-aligned layer style stroke, then that vector layer's stroke may not display correctly -- part of the vector layer stroke will disappear as the layer is moved around the image.

    Workaround:You will have to use opacity slider instead of fill slider to pull back the lighting effect
    PLUGINS
    DUPLICATE PLUGINS CAUSE ISSUES ON MAC:
    If you install duplicate plugins or point the additional plugins folder preferences to a duplicate set of plugins (such as, to an older version of Photoshop), then it is possible for odd Photoshop behavior, such as an inappropriate file extension to appear when saving files.
    (example: while performing a "save as"  to JPEG file type, the file format appears to change to .dcm)
    In this case, there may be a duplicate "file formats" plugin that's populating the Save As file types list with duplicates of the same options.
    If there are duplicate file format plugins installed, the Mac OS will remove the duplicates from the list, but you may still see the odd saving behavior.
    Solution:
    Remove the duplicate plugins.
    If you are not sure if you have this issue, but are seeing odd behavior, you can check for duplicates by looking through the plugins listed in the Help > System Info dialog.

    1. You can get full support for your camera by upgrading to Lightroom 4. But personally, I would wait for Lightroom 5 since it will be released shortly, probably within the next month. Lightroom 5 will work with Photoshop CS5. The only difference is that Lightroom will need to create a TIF or PSD file that contains all the changes you have made in Lightroom. That's not a big deal, in my opinion. That file has to be created at some point anyway whenever you use Photoshop.
    2. Yes, Lightroom 4 will pass images back and forth between it and Photoshop.
    3.  The upgrade would not break Lightroom 3. It would essentially work the same as it does with your current setup.
    4. If you purchase CS6 it is my understanding you will be allowed to use it indefinitely. This is not true of the Creative Cloud version. Support and updating for additional cameras will cease for CS6. Adobe has announced that they will make Camera Raw 8.1 so that it can be usable with CS6 as far as reading Lightroom adjustments. But any new controls will not be accessible.
    5. So far, Adobe has indicated that they have no plans to making Lightroom a subscription-only offering.
    You are asking your questions as though you are addressing Adobe directly. This is a User-to-user forum. I don't work for nor do I speak for Adobe. I am only giving you the information as I understand it. It seems to me that upgrading to Photoshop CS6 and Lightroom 5 is a "safe" choice. None of us, not even Adobe, really knows what the future will bring. Technology changes so quickly anymore that everything we are doing right now could be obsolete in a matter of a very short period of time. As Adobe changes their marketing strategies I think it will probably motivate some people to look elsewhere. I have Photoshop CS6 and I'm going to upgrade to Lightroom 5. Then I will have to wait and see what develops after that. At any rate, I have tools that I can use for the foreseeable future. If I have to change at some point then I will do so.

  • Help using texture files in CS4

    Hi all,
      I'm trying to do something that seems like it should be fairly simple.  I'm trying to create a plane and apply a color map and a bump map, so the final render basically shows an overhead view of a flat surface showing the color map, with some depth added by the bump map.  I have been creating a new file in RBG format, creating a new 3D postcard from layer (giving me the plane), and applying a color map and a bump map (both jpegs from Dosch Design) using the 3D {Materials} pane.  Whenever I render the final image, it usually appears completely washed out (i.e., it looks like a washed-out version of the bump map).  Can anyone figure out where I am going wrong, or what I need to do differently?  I find that I can see the color map only when I insert it as the Diffuse map (when I insert it as the Normal map, it is not shown).  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

    Thanks.  I've used Photoshop for a while, but I'm new to the 3D stuff.  I was thinking of the RBG information in the texture maps as color information, as opposed to how Photoshop interprets that information from a texture map.  I think that part of the reason the final render appeared "washed out" was that the global ambient color was set to white.  I've spent a bit of time playing with the various settings (and following your suggestions), which definitely helped - I'm thinking that I really need to spend more time working with the program.  Do you know of any good 3D tutorials that you would recommend again?  Thanks again.

  • How do I make a backbuffer in a canvas?

    I am making a game, were I need to have several classes that extends canvas, so I can have one class drawing things, when traveling through space.
    one when I travel indoors, or in a city, with raycasting
    one when I travel outdoors, generating the terrain.
    one I already have showing the character I am talking with, besides a textarea, to show the dialog.
    one to show prerendered computer art backgrounds+transparent .gifs of characters on the same place.

    I cant use the last line, it generates a java.lang.nullpointerexception
    when I run it in appletviewer

    any suggestions?

    also looked at some extremely fast raycasting code.
    it doesnt use paint at all, it uses getGraphics(); to get the graphics context, draws everything in a thread, in an array, then it makes a image of it, and draws the image, directly in the thread, making a very fast frame rate.

    I did this and it worked,
    I made a thread inside the canvas.
    and copied and pasted everything from paint to that thread.(and made that code inside the paint a comment)
    I use gs=getGraphics(); to output the backbuffer after I have drawed all terrain.
    it takes 50 milliseconds to do a frame. with 640*480 window.
    now I am wondering:will this gs(draw to screen)and gx(draw to backbuffer) be only local in run, or will they work in all methods I call from run?

  • How do you make in "urchin" in illustrator

    Hi everyone,
    So, I'm new to these boards; if there is a problem in how I ask this, please let me know
    I am making figures for research I am doing that involves sticking molecules on nanoparticles.
    In illustrator, what I've done so far was making a semi circle and rotated it to form a sphere (my nanoparticle), and now I'm working on coating it so I have a simplified model of what I am pursuing. Basically, I want it to look like an "urchin": a ball with protrusions around it.
    At first, I tried making a symbol of these protrusions and mapping it on the surface, but I can't extrude and bevel the symbol (unless I am missing something). Using invisible geometry won't work either because, well, I want to show the particle at the center of it all, too!

    Illustrators 3D effects don't support bump mapping.
    You'll have to illustrate it manually.

  • 5800 SatNav questions.

     I've been learning about the satnav on the 5800 and need a bit of help if possible. I believe I can use the satnav without connecting to the internet. 
    From OVI maps In the tools setting I have Internet > Connection ( offline ) - Network Destination :  Internet and Roaming Warning : On 
    If the phone is in Dual mode, I can locate my position, search destination and  If I check  Settings > Connectivity  > Connection Manager : It shows no active connections ( as it should do )
    However
    If the phone is set in GSM mode and  I locate my position.  When I check  Settings > Connectivity  > Connection Manager : It shows  Tesco MMS    ( I'm on the Tesco UK network ).
    So a couple of questions.  Why has it connected and why is it showing Tesco MMS and not Tesco WAP ?
    If I switch back to Dual mode and allow OVI maps to connect. Its either connected to TEsco Wap or my Wifi connection.

    I took JJ's advice and reloaded the maps from the OVI suite.  I rechecked my cities folder and its still the same size .   I just bought my 5800 ( can yer tell ) and although it came in a standard box, the manual was marked Navigation Edition.  So I think the the UK maps come pre-loaded .  That could explain why I have the full UK maps.
    For now ( while in the UK ) I have put all the assist nav back on and turned the internet to offline.
    I would just like to know if I can delete the OVI map history
