I had signed up for a Worldwide Subscription. Thought that it was supposed to be 1/2 price??
I was still in my first free month and hadn't paid anything yet. Perhaps that was it. Anybody have any thoughts?
Anyone notice, too, that you can't chat with Skype personnel.
The chat window doesn't pop up when you initiate a supposed chat with them.

  • Why would a commercial printer ask for Illustrator native files instead of InDesign files?

Why would a commercial printer ask for Illustrator native files instead of InDesign files?
For example, We create 32 hang tags for the same brand. Each hang tag looks identical except for a color bar calling out the different fits. We set the files up in InDesign with a Master Page congaing all the similar artwork. This process saves us a lot of time when making changes to the entire package of hang tags. So my question is... why can't the printer use InDesign. They are saying they convert our InDesign files to Illustrator before printing.

A printer who insists on native files but can't take InDesign is not properly equipped. It suggests they haven't updated their capabilities in 15 years.

Mozilla, like many other software companies, thoroughly test their software before releasing it to the public and I'm sure that no problem you are having is intentional.
I do not work for Mozilla but I do have experience of releasing software for public usage.
Firefox has no way of knowing what other software is already on your computer and with millions of combinations it isn't always possible to test for every scenario.
You can go back to the old version of Firefox but that won't always solve your problem.
The web site below tells you how:

  • Why would you charge me $40 for a supposedly free upgrade?Have been a faithful verizon customer for years went in for myfree upgrade and paid for a iphone and protectve cover now I have to pay a fee for a free service? I will start switching my devices to

Why would you charge me$40 for a free upgrade? I chose a iPhone and paid you the difference plus protective cover, now you want to charge  me a fee for activating a number I have had for years!!!  I have been a faithful Verizon customer for years but I will switch companies when my contracts are up or I can get a buy out from another company, your free upgrade is not free and is a false advertisement as far as I'm concerned

However you had already stated you did not choose a "free upgrade", but paid the difference for an iPhone. So much for your "free upgrade". Additionally, I was not aware Verizon was in the business of giving away "free service"(s)?????? Purchasing a "free" or "reduced price" phone IS NOT a free service. You sign a contract in exchange for receiving that benefit. There is an upgrade fee along with that service you are contracted to complete or you will be charged an early termination fee(ETF), so this IS NOT a free service.
Yes, you have a choice to go with another provider which ALSO charges an upgrade fee OR charges you full retail value for your phone. So much for a "free upgrade" there.
    AT&T = upgrade fee
    Sprint = upgrade fee
T-Mobile = no upgrade fee but must pay full retail cost for the phone
For what it is worth, you would not have had to pay an upgrade fee had you simply paid full retail cost for your phone OR purchased it with Edge at full retail cost. Depending on your calling plan and data allowance, you may have even ended up paying less for your phone had you done so. That is why a little research before you make a purchase can go a long way.
I know it is cheaper for me to pay full retail for a phone than to purchase a discounted device in exchange for signing a contract.
Good luck with the new provider.

  • Why would my iPod show a full battery when connected to power but when not connected it will no longer turn on

Why would my iPod show a full battery when connected to power but when not connected it will no longer turn on

    For both
    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Why do I have to pay for iPages when I already have it on my computer?

My iCloud home page shows five icons including iWork. When I click on the iWork icon I am shown a link that takes me to the iTunes store where I am asked to pay $9.99 for each of the iWork components. I already have these installed on my iMac. Why do I have to pay for them again?

Different operating systems. Your iMac runs OS X and the iWork
applications you have on your iMac are written for OS X. On your
iDevice, the operating system is iOS and you would need a version
of the apps written for that. If you are not planninig to use the apps
on your iDevice (iPhone, iPad, some iPods), you do not need to
buy them. Having the apps on your iDevices provides instant
syncing of documents across the iDevices using iCloud. iCloud
does not provide Google App-like operation if that is what you are
seeking. If this does not answer your question, perhaps someone
    else will chime in.

  • Why would my iPhone work perfectly fine but when it gets to 48% it randomly shuts off?

Why would my iPhone randomly shut off at 48%? Then say its at 1%. The only way I can use it is if it ha more than 48% battery

This is usually the feature of faulty battery. Make Genius reservation and take iPhone to Apple Store for free quick battery diagnostic testing. If there is Warranty or AppleCare this will be covered.

  • HP Management Pack - why would a rule be used for a network card error?

    Hi,
I am asking this question with regard to the HP proliant management pack but my question is about the more general "rule" v "monitor" question which generally I understand (I think).
We get alerts for HP network card failures. This is rule based and basically looks for event "2" in the event logs. The same thing happens though if a cable gets pulled or a switch fails for a few seconds for instance.
The question I am getting asked by admins is to override this as its a "false alarm". I have pointed out people shouldnt just pull a network cable (maintenance mode please!) and if switches are failing then use the SCOM alert to let the network
team know... Plus if the card genuinly does fail this is the alert. BUT they are asking why isnt this a monitor anyway? If the network card is OK I think event 4 gets logged. So why didnt HP write it as a monitor that would close when it sees the success event?
My main thinking was if they had you wouldnt get to know about intermitant faults that dont last long. For instance the card would be down for 30 seconds but the monitor would close as soon as it was back up and you wouldnt see it.
    Any thoughts?
    thanks

My guess is because they have tools that compete with MSFT and do not sell their MP's.  So now they have to have one of their own FTE's creating a management pack for a competing product to monitor their hardware.  If it worked better than HP Openview,
then maybe more people would switch to Openview and dump SCOM...
Honestly it comes down to resources, and the fact, similar to MSFT management packs, they are FREE, so how can you justify spending all the time and resources to create something and then give it away for free?  You can't, so you speed through it, and
drop it to the public, let them find the issues, and stress test it, etc.  (not a fact, just my honest opinion after working with this product for over 13 years).  MSFT is guilty of this as well, they have had their fair share of problem management
    packs...but they are FREE.

  • Why would a Standard Projector call for Shockwave

I have 30 titles authored in Director and updated to Dir. 10.5.9.  I have both Mac and Windows versions.  In 20 yrs. I have never put any shockwave content into any of these programs.  Yet, suddenly, I shipped CDs to two Mac customers who both have the same problem.
I included Standard projectors in all the CDs, tested them on our Snow Leopard, Lion, and Mountain Lion.  Both customers have either Lion or Mountain lion on their Macs.  Yet, when they loaded the programs and double clicked on the projector, an error message came up saying the program was unable to find Shockwave. ???  That has not happened in 20 years of selling and upgrading these programs.  And it still isn't happening on our Macs with the same OS.  Yet two of our latest customers both have that problem.
Even more mysterious is that one of the customers downloaded Shockwave 12 and it wouldn't work, so she found a place to download Shockwave 11 and her programs startted working.  Yet, theyi are not shockwave programs or projectors.  They shouldn't need Shockwave at all.
Has anyone ever heard of that happening before?  Can someone offer some suggestions of what I might try to fix it?  Since there is no shockwave content in the programs or the projectors, I don't even know where to start.
Thanks in advance for anything that anyone might be able to offer.
    Dewey

    Hello Dewey,
I’ve been having the same problems here, and it’s difficult to fix, as I can’t duplicate the problem on any of my development Macs.
My Mac programs work (working on many different computers) they are not corrupt – but on some of my clients Macs they kick off this strage ‘download shockwave’ bug…
    This needs more testing!!!!
If you are embedding your xtras inside the projector – this might help.
    Try removing all embedded xtras?
Under the publish setting – EXCLUDE ALL XTRAS
Place all the xtras in an ‘Xtras’ folder inside the programs root folder. (like in the old days)
Although I have had this fix the issue on some of my customers computers - it has not fixed it for all?
I’m only guessing here, but maybe this is caused by ‘Gatekeeper’ or another restricted user setting that I have not been able to find???
I have seen corrupt projectors ask to download shockwave before – both on windows and Mac – from as far back as D7.  It seems to be some crazy last ditch effort to access the xtras needed to make the program work????
Some of the xtras bomb out in the temp folder, (maybe they don’t work anymore, or maybe they are being blocked by gatekeeper etc..) so the projector goes looking for them in the shockwave folder – it can’t find them all, so it asks to download shockwave – but downloading shockwave 12 does not find the right xtras – so the projector gets stuck and asks the download shockwave again – but if the projector was able to download shockwave 11 then the projector finds the right (missing) xtras and works.
    Director help file says :-
“Xtra extensions stored in a projector must be uncompressed to a separate file each time the projector starts up, which makes startup slower. If the Xtra extensions are stored in an external directory, the projector starts more quickly”
These separate uncompressed xtars get placed into the apples temp folder somewhere – and this is where I believe the problem starts.
Also something that might be related -
I have also been having problems with the embedded fonts - which also end up in the same temp folder.
I have to test that all the fonts are active before I continue running the program – if they are not all active I restart the program again and again – sometimes up to 5 restarts before all the fonts work?
    All quite crazy.
I hope this helps a little bit - I also would really love to know how to fix this crazy problem.
    Milky.

  • Why would a game developer opt for AIR over Packager?

Have been developing games in Flash for a while and  considering  trying out some application markets.
Most of my games are point and click games, so they would lend themselves to flash environments.
Along with AIR, Adobe offers something called "Packager for Iphone". One of the advantages- from my viewpoint- is that is seems to be compatible with IOS versions preceeding the 3gs. What are AIR's advantages over Packager in developing apps for the iphone?

To confirm, when packaging for iOS in CS5.5, it utilizes all the 2.6 and all its capabilities?
Because it gives options for the following:
    AIR 2.5
    AIR 2.6
    AIR for iOS    and more
I suppose the AIR for 2.6 is for desktop deployment. But it does not say that the iOS uses 2.6.
However, it does say 2.6 in the generated xml, so I guess  thats that.
    Thanks Colin.

I bought two different Lynyrd Skynyrd ringtones, and both are on my MBP. Only was showed up on my 6 plus. I tried a physical sync with no luck. I finally had to buy the one ringtone AGAIN to have it on my iPhone. After buying this a second time, it worked the FIRST morning, but not this morning. This morning  it gave me the Radar (default alarm), even though it was set for the opening riff of "Sweet Home Alabama".
    Why????

  • HT5637 what is a "match" and why would I pay $24.99 for one?

how do i get credit for this?  I don't even know what it is? thanks

iTunes match allows you to store music copied from your CDs and not purchased from iTunes in the cloud, which allows you to then access it on computer's iTunes and/or your iOS devices - from http://www.apple.com/itunes/itunes-match/ :
With iTunes in the Cloud, the music you buy from the iTunes Store automatically appears on all your devices.1 And for music you haven’t purchased from iTunes, iTunes Match is the perfect solution. iTunes Match is built right into iTunes on your computer and the Music app on your iOS devices.2 It lets you store your entire collection in iCloud, even music you’ve imported from CDs or purchased somewhere other than iTunes. When it’s in iCloud, it’s available on all your devices. So you can enjoy all your music anywhere, anytime — on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac, PC, or Apple TV.
Not sure what you mean by get credit for it.
