.bin files

Hey guys, just a quick question. How do I install .bin files because I've downloaded the free version of Windows Media Player for MAC OS X but i can't get it to open as a recognised file.
Thanx for any help

I really don't know why so many sites seem to be
switching to some variant of BIN instead of .SIT,
ZIP, TAR, GZ, DMG, smi, or one of the other many
formats and extensions which don't have the
'confusion' problem I'm outlining...).
Accordingly its a bit rich complaining, on an Apple
site, about Mac developers using .bin files. They
have been around on Macs for far longer than the new
fangled alternatives you mention!
[and have been superceded by the new fangled alternatives I mention... :P]
Thanks for the excellent overview ..[I hope I may quote you on a "help 'em Switch site" I'm working on, please ?] - I did know that stuff (MacBinary) but maintain that the practice that's evolved over the years has been towards the other, more 'universal'/xplatform file formats I mentioned...
As a matter of fact BIN goes even further back .. - it was always used - pre Mac, pre-peecee etc for real Binary/raw files such as eprom/firmware dumps/images etc...(still is - I recall my last Router update involved FTP'ing a BIN to the TCP/IP Rooter - even 'Core dumps' on at least one of the mainframes I tortured waaay back - So I'd argue that the 'MacBinary' fellas picked the wrong name - besides, as you mentioned it's really a 'dead format':- R.I.P. MacBinary -unlamented.
It's a matter of opinion, like many of these things but I'd still argue that ZIP, TAR, GZ are much better choices (at least we wouldn't have this problem - which even bit me at least once (grr))
PS. Its a real toss up whether Diane or Barbara
provided the best real solution to Craig's actual
problem . Which one would YOU have awarded the votes
to, I wonder?
To ME, of course.. g - actually, it's up to Craig - I don't care who gets 'em I just like to see the system used - it's going to be helpful Real Soon Now (remember that one ? source ?) Personally, I'd throw a few 'helpfuls' around in any event.
Its also annoying that all Macs no longer come
with a copy of Stuffit Expander. The OS used to
simply pass the task of dealing with MacBinary
decoding over to it in days gone past.
Yer durn Tootin'.
all the best,mate,

  • How to output executable Bin file under linux from java

    Hi
im beginner in java under linux and i want to out put my java programs to be bin files that can run
    if this not possilble
how to run the output jar files with just double click ?
does i have to run sh file that do the hob how?
    thanks in advance.

say your main method (application's entry point) is located in a class com.my.Class,
then first you create a text file (say, manifest.txt) that contains this line:
    Main-Class: com.my.Class
    [/code}
and then you append this to the jar's manifest as such:
jar cfm yourjarfile.jar manifest.txt [additional files you might want to add]
    for more info,

  • How to extract .bin file on mac?

    Dear Team,
How to extract .bin file on mac os ? please help me
    regards,
    kalai

Although the link posted by the other responder shows .bin files to be a copy of RAW CD or DVD data in my experience most .bin files are some type of configuration file mainly used with internet routers and other pieces of PC/Networking equipment.
Just where did this .bin file come from and what is it associated with that you are trying to open on your Mac?
If it is a router configuration file that you downloaded you don't open it on the Mac. You log into your router and go to the update firmware section and browse to that file stored on your Mac hard drive and let the router handle opening and updated the routers firmware.

  • What's the meaning of the various .bin files used by SAM?

    hey everyone,
I'm trying to understand why exactly there are so many .bin files used by the SAM, and how to compile each one of them.
My .rc file for the simulation contains:
    load bin reset.bin 0xfff0000000
    load bin q.bin 0xfff0010000
    load bin openboot.bin 0xfff0080000
    load bin nvram1 0x1f11000000
    load bin 1c1t-md.bin 0x100000
    load bin 1c1t-hv.bin 0x180000
    load bin disk1.img 0x1f40000000
    I don't understand why I have 3 different files - reset.bin, q.bin and openboot.bin when I would have expected only one bootfile.
I also don't know what's the meaning of the 1c1t-md.bin file (what md stands for).
If anyone could clear this subject for me, and also point me to the sources of each such file (if they exist in the project, and assume they do, at least for most of them), I'd be grateful.
    Thanks,
    Mintz Yuval

    Hi,
    Sorry I haven't replied sooner.
I get your project now and it sounds pretty cool.
Let me answer your last question first. The service processor resides a separate motherboard running independently of the N2 processor. The SP and N2 processor communicate via a I2C link which allows the SP to read and alter the state of the N2. The cpu, caches, NIU, memory, etc. are all connected by this link. Once the N2 is running, the SP and the N2 firmware may exchange messages via a mailbox protocol over the I2C.
nvram1.bin is a configuration file that is OBP specific. On HW, it would be a little ROM that obp reads during the boot. Since it's in memory, SAM doesn't make any assumptions about it. You can remove it or rework it to suit u-boot.
disk.img is the contents of a virtual disk which contains the root filesystem. This is essentially a ram disk which has been added to SAM's version of the hypervisor and/or obp. On HW, the firmware does not support this kind of virtual ram disk. For SAM, I'm pretty sure that obp is extended to create a device tree node for the virtual disk. Hypervisor may not know about the virtual disk.
Since disk.img is a UFS (or other Solaris-oriented) filesystem, you will probably want to replace it with a ext3 or Linux-oriented filesystem. Since Linux has direct kernel support for ramdisk, you might be able to build/configure the kernel with the location of the root filesystem image in memory. Or this might be a u-boot option.
As to 1c1t*.bin and reset.bin. On HW, the service processor is responsible for discovering all the devices and cpus on a system and writing the machine description file (e.g. 1c1t*.bin) and the reset firmware (e.g. reset.bin). These files are used during boot and various resets to initialize or reinitialize machines state for the cpus and all the i/o devices. Since SAM doesn't include a service processor, these files are static and created completely outside of SAM. The md*.bin files contents must match the configuration of cpu's in the sam.rc file -- firmware will fail if it tries to run code on a strand that is missing.
The md and reset.bin files are used during the boot process to set-up CMT registers and do a little bit of i/o device initialization. SAM doesn't support reset modes such as warm reset.
I hope this helps. Let me know if you need me to track down more details.
    Cheers,
    Stephen

  • H-61MU-E35 (B3) 4MB BIOS Chip Vs 8MB BIOS BIN File - WinBond 25Q32BV

    Hello,
I have MSI H-61MU-E35 (B3) motherboard with Ivy Bridge Processor, and everything was working fine,  Using Windows XP, I may have updated BIOS with different model no, so upon booting I was getting message that "BIOS File Not Found..."  In past, I had posted message in forum and got Big help but nothing worked nor message changed...
So, finally I build Rayer's circuit to flash BIOS using SPIPGM Software utility.
Rayer's SPI Circuit and SPIPGM software is working fine. I am also able to write BIOS and retrieving it back and also comparing with what was actually written, and able to compare to make sure, its writing correctly.
BIOS Chip Detected: Winbond 25Q32BV  (4MB)  Datasheet is Attached
I also read Chip number visually, which is matching with what's detected by SPIPGM (Rayer's software)
    Product Page: us.msi.com/support/mb/H61MUE35_B3.html#down-bios
    Issue is:
I have Ivy Bridge Processor and this motherboard supports Ivy Bridge Processor only with BIOS version12.x above.
    (1) All Ivy Bridge Supported BOIS BIN File size is 8 MB  and BIOS Chip size is 4 MB
Question is: How it's possible to write 8MB BIN file with 4MB BIOS Chip ?
There are 4MB size BIN File with older version, but that does not support Ivy Bridge Processor and with Ivy Bridge Processor in the socket, system will not boot to even say something.
Using SPIPGM utility, when I tried to feed 8MB BIN file to BIOS chip, it's complaining me that, File Size does not match with BIOS Size...

    Hello SVet,
THANK YOU !! THANK YOU !! THANK YOU !!!
I downloaded your BIOS file using SPIPGM into Chip..... AND....
After 6 month later... finally My dead board is live again and booted Windows XP as original....  Amazing....
Agian... THANK YOU !! THANK YOU !! THANK YOU !!!

This error is KILLING me...I have had to resort to an auto save file twice where alot of re-work was required...I am losing my confidence in Premiere for getting jobs done.  I close file...its working fine, then I open it and I get an error that says:
    Mulitband
    Cannot open bin-file
then program crashes...what is going on...I cannot find any documentation on this anywhere!
    Thnks

What version of Premiere Pro?Have you installed the Premiere Pro CS5 (5.0.3) update? That update fixes a lot of problems.
    What operating system?
What kind of footage are you using? Is it just happening with one specific asset?
Has this always happened, or did it just start happening?

What happens if there are less than 50 objects in your file?
I will assume CoastalTowns holds info about a single town, so why is it pluralised? Do you have a class called Dog or Dogs, Chair or Chairs, Person or People?

  • How to install rpm.bin file with rpm

Have downloaded Java...rpm.bin for Linux. rpm doesn't recognize bin file. Can't find doc to explain what utility converts rpm.bin to simple rpm. What do I use? Thanks.

It took me some time to figure it out,
once you downloaded the j2sdk...rpm.bin file, it is a self installation file,
    1) make sure the file is executable
    #chmod 755 j2sdk1.4.0_01.rpm.bin
    2) execute the file
    #./j2sdk1.4.0_01.rpm.bin
this will install the package and inflate the rpm...
    good luck.

  • Lenovo M58 (7360-AEG) - need original BIOS bin file

    Hello everybody!
I think I have a BIOS problem with Thinkcentre M58.
I try bios recovery procedure with .iso file, jumper, etc, but nothing happens.
So I will try to programming bios chip with bios programmer. I found some bios files, but not the correct one.
If somebody can help me with original bios .rom or .bin file, I will be very grateful.
I save the present file and I see it's 4096KB, but files that I found are 2MB or less.
    Thans in advance.
    Happy weekend to all.

No worries, Liken, as I already wrote, I was trying to flash 65cn13ww, and it failed for some reason.
Being curious, I started the laptop again with F2 to check the current BIOS version, and what did I read: 65cn13ww!
Yep, the same BIOS that I was trying to flash.
I think Lenovo has a lot of explaining to do.
But then again, when I follow some threads, I don't think Lenovo gives a sh...., seeing that most forum visitors don't get ANY answer or are still waiting for one.
Shame on them and I'm very disappointed, particularly about Lenovo's attitude towards the loyal customers!

  • Cant open the bin- file ??

I dont know why but recently my premiere project wont open whilst others will. i have a hunch it may be because my project bin in the project has over 1000 clips in it. i have 4gbs of memory on my imac. has anyone else ever had this message whilst it loads up then crashes-
DeNoiser2 - could not open the bin- file
i know i posted this 2 days ago but if anyone has a fix i so desperately need it.

The .bin file is an image file of the router's firmware.  It does not need to be "opened" or "unzipped".  The .bin file is loaded into the router "as is".

  • How to open a bin file

I have os 10.7 and 10.6.8 and have several atari rom files that are compressed
as bin files and i can't open them w/ stuffit expander or unachriever
at this point i can't find anything to open them please help
    thanks Mike

If you have no luck with decompression tools available within Lion or Snow Leopard, you might want to consider that either those Atari ROMS are simply not decompressible with or without existing tools, or that perhaps they were originally compressed using something else.
After I read your post, I thought maybe there is a functional Atari emulator for OS X that would have tools to deal with those Atari ROMS. That lead me to the Hatari emulator sources. Among the pre-requsites for building Hatari, was also obtaining and building Zlib from Github sources. Apparently, Zlib is its own compression/decompression animal that appears to used for .png data compression in libpng. It apparently will also deflate compressed data within PDF files.
It is a stretch to presume that Atari ROMS may be compressed with Zlib, but since nothing else may have worked, it might be possible that the Zlib library could be the can opener you need. It may be worth reading further.
On the Zlib site, they have a link to a heavily documented stream I/O source file called zpipe.c. There is a downloadable copy of it. You do not need to download the Zlib library code or anything else. Just get this zpipe.c file. I have Mountain Lion and the zlib include file and library are already included in the OS, as they are in Lion. I have not found any Zlib command line tools in either OS X release though.
I have Xcode 4.5.2 and command-line tools installed in ML. You won't need Xcode itself, just the command-line GNU C++ compiler. You need to open zpipe.c in the editor of your choice and change the following line only:
    From                               To
    #include "zlib.h"                #include <zlib.h>
    Now, save the file.
Compile it in the Terminal (on Mountain Lion 10.8.2, the library file name is libz.1.2.5.dylib)
    g++ -O2 -o zpipe zpipe.c /usr/lib/libz.1.1.3.dylib
I got a clean compile on Mountain Lion with the 1.2.5 version.
I haven't been amazed in awhile, so if this works, it will be worth it.
You would use zpipe in the following manner from the terminal to possibly deflate [ -d ] a COPY of an Atari ROM file.
    zpipe [ -d ] < Atari ROM file > Dest File

  • Downloaded bin files are associated with excel

I know that they should day open with application. How do I switch bin files to be opened with application instead of excel. I don't know what to select under the Open With: -> Other menu

Run StuffIt, and try to select the .bin file
    Nothing happens.
I called Apple Care about the issue, and they said that my steps where correct ( finally ) and they sugggested I download the .bin file again to make sure I have the right type. I will try that.
Thanks for all the help again.

  • Read/Write 2d numeric array or string array into bin file

Can anyone pls help me to resolve this problem
    Attachments:
    bin file.vi ‏9 KB

You are still using the wrong format.
Whatever you are doing has nothing to do with a binary file.
You are still using way too much duplicate code.
All you probably need is read/write from spreadsheet file, no need to reinvent the wheel.
Your code will fail if the numbers contain decimal digits (since your array is DBL, it could! If your array only contains integers, you are using the wrong numeric representation).
You string code will fail if the array elements contains tabs, for example.
You still don't need a sequence structure.

  • What's the detailed GPS protol used to generated GPS bin file?

    I encountered a problem recently.
) When we used actual GPS signals instead of simulated signals generated from the PXI-5671, the receiver functioned normally.
    2) When we streamed bin file to generate signals repeatedly using the PXI-5671, the receiver could receive correctly for the first time, while at the rest of it the receiver couldn't receive the signals nor display how many satellites there were and what the signal strengths were.
The R&D engineers of the receiver in German want to know the detailed GPS protocol used to generated GPS bin file. They want to find the differences between the receiver and NI GPS generator.
Could you give me the detailed GPS protocol? thanks!

    Hello,
In the ni GPS bin file ther header is is stored as following.
Of the first 8 bytes the first two bytes are version of GPS toolkit it was use to save the data, the next 4 bytes will be IQ rate, the next 4 bytes will be peak power in dBm and then rest 488 bytes will be just buffer data or 0 padding. Here is the screenshot of that. The actual data is stored as I16 format as I and Q data block. Hence the actual offset from the starting of the file is 512 bytes.
Hope this helps. For reference you can look at the  niGPS Streaming From File.vi located in C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 2009\examples\RF Toolkits\GPS\Programming
    Thanks
