Binary Conversion of a File
Hi Guys,
The entire issue is on File Handling.
There is one file say input.dat and another file say output.dat
There are two classes Head and Tail which are Serializable. I am creating objects of those two classes.
I am inserting the first object of Head, then first few bytes from input.dat and then the first object of Tail.
Like this goes on till it reaches to the end of file. Till here everything is fine.
Now the output.dat which is generating, I want to convert it into binary format (e.g. 10110)
How can I go about it? After making it in a binary form, how can I retrive the data ?
Please help me out
Regards
Unmesh
1) the size of the byte array buffer is 4096. Why is it so ?It is an arbitrary value just plucked, almost, out of thin air. It can really be any value that you want, but, since computers a binary machines, a power of two is very desirable (in this case, 2^12). Secondly, in terms of buffer sizes, as the buffer size increases you eventually wind up with a diminishing returns issue (e.g., the larger the buffer, the more memory, more management, more time). To best see this, take a large file and start out with a buffer size of 1 byte and time how long it takes to process the entire file. Do this again but double the buffer size, now 2. It should take roughly half as long to process the entire file. Repeat this process until you see that the processing time comes close to hitting a plateau. Most implementations that utilize buffers tend to use 4K and 8K simply because it just seems to be the best payoff with the smallest price.
2) i couldn't understand this line of the code
for (int mask = 128; mask > 0; mask /= 2)
From where are you getting these numbers 128 and 2 ? why are you dividing mask by 2 ?A byte consists of 8 bits (to be more precise, let us call this an octet). Each bit has a value - basic number system thing. So, for an octet, the bit values are (most significant bit first):
7 | 6 | 5 | 4 | 3 | 2 | 1 | 0 bit
128 | 64 | 32 | 16 | 8 | 4 | 2 | 1 decimal bit value
80 | 40 | 20 | 10 | 08 | 04 | 02 | 01 hex bit valueTo liken this to the decimal, base 10, system, bit 0 is the 1's column, bit 1 is the 10's column, bit 2 is the 100's column and so on. The binary system (base 2) is mathematically the same. It is generalized like this for a given value at a given "column" for any number system:
value := b^i
where:
b is the base number system in question
i is the column in question
So, to find the complete value of any number in any number system:
value := db^i + db^i-1 + db^i-2 + ... + db^1 + db^0
where:
b is the base number system in question
i is the column in question
d is the value of the digit in the column in question
I should also note that jummoMa1's approach of using bit shifting is more efficient.

Binary Conversion of file in Emigall(why)
Can any one tell me what is the purpose of converting the file to binary before loading through EMIGALL?Why is it necessary?I have checked the file On application server in the directory where file after binary conversion is placed.I was expecting it to be in binary format i mean combination of 0's and 1's.But it was not.So can anyone please elaborate.
ThanksHi Arya
Very strange question.
There's only one valid file format for the EMIGALL upload files at the moment, so obviously the file has to match that particular format.
Not absolutely sure why we chose this file format instead of a delimited TXT file (it was a very long time ago), two things spring to mind:
Inclusion of "special" characters in the content, that could also be used as column delimiter, without compromising the file layout
Incorrect file layout, like missing or additional columns compared to the EMIGALL customising, easier to identify and more likely to fail
Please note, I don't want to start a discussion here why one format is better than another. Simply accept it, it's not a big deal and move on.
I am certain your file is in binary format, you only use the wrong editor to display the file
Yep

Does anyone knows how to convert the ASCII value to binary? For example
ASCII 'U' to 01010101?Hi,
If I understood you correctly, you want to convert a character eg:'U' to
its ASCII value which is 85 (in binary representation 01010101).
With the following method you can convert the first character of a string to
a one byte long unsigned integer.
method BaseClass.CharToInt(input pStr: Framework.string): Framework.ui1
begin
return *(pointer to ui1)(*(pointer to pointer)(&pStr));
end method;
See also the attached .pex file for some more, usefull little methods...

Problem with file content conversion in receiver file adapter
Hi All
I have a problem with file content conversion in receiver file adapter.
This is my recordset structure: Header_Record,1,Claim_Record,*,Check_Rec,1
These are the content conversion parameters:
Header_Record.fieldSeparator = ,
Header_Record.endSeparator = 'nl'
Claim_Record.fieldSeparator = ,
Claim_Record.endSeparator = 'nl'
Check_Rec.fieldSeparator = ,
Check_Rec.endSeparator = 'nl'
In SXMB_MONI, i can see that the data is correctly extracted from proxy, and correctly mapped to receiver message, and i see a checkered flag (success).
But, Adapter status is RED with the following error message:
Conversion initialization failed: java.lang.Exception: java.lang.Exception: Error(s) in XML conversion parameters found: Parameter '1.fieldFixedLengths' or '1.fieldSeparator' is missing
In communication channel monitoring, i get the following error message:
Message processing failed. Cause: com.sap.aii.af.ra.ms.api.RecoverableException: Channel has not been correctly initialized and cannot process messages
What is going wrong here? Can anyone please tell me?
Thanks

Writing binary data to a file without carriage returns every 512 bytes
Is there a VI for writing binary data to a file without carriage returns being inserted every 512 bytes?
ThanksHi Momolxg,
I could be way off on this. I tried to simulate what you've done by
making a for loop that would run a set number of times. For my example I
used 1025. I wired the iteration terminal to a 'Write to SGL File.vi'
outside the loop with indexing enabled. It wrote the SGL data from 0 to
1024 to the file. I then read the file with a 'Read Characters from
File.vi' and searched the output for a carriage return (0D hex). It was
found five times. The reason why was the SGL number it was reading had a
13 (0D hex) in it. Perhaps you're running into a similar problem?
I tried it again, this time using the 'Write to I16 File.vi'. The
carriage return was found five times: the 28th character the first time
then on the 512th character four consecutive time
s after that. I suppose
that makes sense that you'd find a 0D in the numbers at equal spacings if
they're incrementing this way... In this case the carriage returns you're
seeing are actually numbers from your data.
One big difference is that I'm using a set pattern of numbers. This
doesn't appear to be your case. Is there a better way we can duplicate
your problem? It sounds interesting. Again my simulation could be way
off. (I'm also running this on LV60 for Linux so my results could be
different)

Losing 0x0D in Content Conversion of a file receiver communication channel
Hi everyone, I have a file to file scenario in which I receive an XML like this:
<MT_IDOCS>
<IDOCS>
<IDOC>E2EDK14 10000000000000000010000020000010200600
E2EDK14 10000000000000000010000030000010200712
</IDOC>
</IDOCS>
<MT_IDOCS>
Actually this is just to give you an idea, but inside the IDOC tag I have a whole IDoc with the flat file structure that is going to be processed by with program RSEINB00. The incoming file has characters 0x0D and 0x0A between both lines, which is correct and is the desired format for program RSEINB00.
But when I download this XML using content conversion, the resulting file has lost the 0x0D character, it still has the 0x0A, but all 0x0D are gone.
The content conversion is set like this
Recordset structure IDOCS
IDOCS.fieldSeparator $$$$$$
IDOCS.endSeparator '0'
(I don't know exactly why they did it that one...anyway only 1 IDOCS tag is expected). The I have to extract the exact bytes from inside the IDOC tag and download them to a file. Is it possible to handle it from the content conversion? Thanks!Hi Pablo,
maybe the problem relates to the file encoding you have specified in the Communication Channels. Maybe the file is being picked up from a Windows system which uses Carriage Return (CR) in conjunction with the line feed character ( LF) to indicate
the end of an ASCII text file. The hex code 0D0A. Whereas the receiver system maybe a Unix systems which uses only LF (0A).
The module
ConvertCRLFfromToLF
using parameter value
LFtoCRLF
may resolve this

Store pdf from ArchiveLink (binary) down to Netweaver file system
Hello!
I have a problem: I need to extract a pdf-file which is stored in table TOA01 in binary format. The pdf should be generated and stored into a pdf-file in the file system of the Netweaver application server.
The main problem: Whenever I extract the data from the table and write it down to a file, the data in the pdf-file is corrupted. I tried all kinds of convertation routines (OFT to Binary, OTF to XString, Binary to XString,...)
Can anybody help me with my problem? I need a pdf from the ArchiveLink table as a file on the filesystem.
Thank you for your help!
Best regards,
MarkusHello Otto!
thanks for your help. I compared the input- und the output-data now and discovered, that the data is identically. The problem which causes my problem, lies in the writing of the data into the file by dataset.
First, I extract my pdf binary data from database table with the following function module.
CALL FUNCTION 'SCMS_AO_TABLE_GET'
EXPORTING
arc_id = ls_toa01-archiv_id
doc_id = ls_toa01-arc_doc_id
comp_id = 'data'
IMPORTING
length = filesize
TABLES
data = lt_data
EXCEPTIONS
error_http = 1
error_archiv = 2
error_kernel = 3
error_config = 4
OTHERS = 5.
IF sy-subrc <> 0.
RAISE error_retrieving_file.
ENDIF.
The result of this operation is stored in lt_data and seems to be correct. I compared the filesize of a pdf which I downloaded from GUI and lt_data. The size is exactly the same amount of bytes.
This is the coding part which doesn't work properliy is the following:
OPEN DATASET lv_pdf FOR OUTPUT IN BINARY MODE.
IF sy-subrc = 0.
LOOP AT lt_data INTO ls_data.
transfer ls_data TO lv_pdf.
ENDLOOP.
ELSE.
RAISE error_writing_file.
ENDIF.
CLOSE DATASET lv_pdf.
When the data is written into the dataset, the resulting file is corrupted in a certain way. I compared the binary content of both files, the correct one and the file created with the dataset part and discovered, that the data is identically. Only some line breaks are different. The result of this little differences is a blank pdf file instead of the correct one with text. Seems like really every single bit position has to be identically to the working pdf. If there is one space in the file too much or one line break, the pdf is corrupted.
Can anybody help me and describe how to create a pdf file out of an internal table?
Best regards,
Markus -
Conversion of DB files Berkley DB v3.0 to newest version
Dear specialist of Berkley BD,
I have a veritable problem created by my hosting provider and I need the friend advice.
The provider have move to new data center and change all software for « newest versions » , including Berkley DB .
But my site was created by one programmer in 2001 / 2002 (« don’t visible now» ) . He use probably the version 3.0. This DB play the role not biggest, but important: document's title and heading . The programmer leave just one tools of conversion of .txt file to .db. file (db_load.exe, libdb32.dll, loadtree.bat).
In the new data center this DB can’t open. The hosting provider (à mon avis peu compétent en Berkley) make just this remarque about problem :
« Since we are running a newer version of berkley db on our new servers something things may have changed which are giving you errors. Try exporting your old data from your berkley db on europa.your-site.com to a flat file and then importing it to the new berkley db which is running on your current account.”
I have « .txt » file for the conversion , but i’m not programmer in my life and I try to find one solution for conversion of this file to DB file compatible with “newest version”.
This is PHP code of function for generates HTML code of document's title and heading..
function TitleAndHeading()
// global $_SERVER['DOCUMENT_ROOT'];
// Try to open database file containing site's tree.
$DBHandle = dba_open($_SERVER['DOCUMENT_ROOT'] . '/_internals' . RLS_LANGUAGE . 'sitetree.db', 'r', 'db3');
if ($DBHandle)
// Try to retrieve string containing document's heading and title.
$Document = dba_fetch(RLS_URI, $DBHandle);
if ($Document === FALSE)
$Document = array('', '');
// MailError(__FILE__, __LINE__, 'dba_fetch()');
else
// These substrings are delimited by TAB character.
$Document = explode("\t", $Document);
// Title is optional. If it is absent it is considered the same as heading.
if (sizeof($Document) < 2)
$Document[RLS_TITLE] = &$Document[RLS_HEADING];
dba_close($DBHandle);
else
$Document = array('', '');
// MailError(__FILE__, __LINE__, 'dba_open()');
return $Document;
Thank you for you help. Cordialy,Hello,
Not sure if your problem has been solved, but the Berkeley DB database may need to be upgraded.
As denoted by the used dll "libdb32.dll" the Berkeley DB version used to create the database is 3.2.9.
Refer to the following link which provides information on how to use the "db_upgrade" utility to upgrade an older format database to the current used Berkeley DB database format:
http://www.oracle.com/technology/documentation/berkeley-db/db/utility/db_upgrade.html
Please note, that you will need to use the "db_upgrade" utility corresponding to the Berkeley DB release (you'll need to get this information from the provider). Make sure to have a backup of your database, and to use also the "db_verify" utility to check for the integrity of the resulting upgraded database ("db_verify" utility from the release used to upgrade).
More further, you will need to compile/build against the corresponding Berkeley DB modules (PHP modules for Apache, "mod_db4"). Test the result of these actions and provide us feedback.

How can I perform the conversion of .pdf files in Cyrillic script to Word files in Cyrillic script. The .pdf file is too small for me to read without a magnifying glass, and the document is more than one thousand pages.
This answer was not helpful. First of all, I could not find "tech specs"
anywhere on the Acrobat 11 homepage. And secondly I purchased this software
for the specific purpose of converting .pdf files to Word. It was only
after I had completed the purchase that I learnt that Acrobat does not
permit the conversion of .pdf files in Cyrillic to Word files in Cyrillic.
I feel that Acrobat should have provided this crucial information before I
allowed my credit card to be debited. That is why I am now asking for my
money back. But thanks for your attempt to solve my problem, even if it was
not successful.
