Binary data through WS and RFC scenario.

Hi,
Using SAP PI
7.30 duel stack.
I have a Web
Service to RFC pass-through scenario. The RFC input is an invoice number and a
document return type. The RFC request fetches a PDF document (Type) and return
the PDF document as a binary string in the response. On the SAP PI side we
expose this RFC as a Web Service in SAP PI. We have handed over the WSDL for
this interface to a .Net development team to code the UI. They are able to call
the Web Service an PI relay the request to the RFC successfully. The RFC also
return a response message successfully. The catch/dilemma is the binary sting representing
the PDF document cannot be converted to PDF once received in .Net. I suspect it
has to do with SAP PI XML declaration being utf-8, but utf-16 is required. I
have had a look at changing this in the SOAP channel without success thus far.
Any thought
or advise in this regard would be greatly appreciated.
Regards
Willie Hugo

Hi Sushama,
Hope u r doing well!!!
As the scenario is SOAP to RFC, When you are dealing with this scenario you have RFC (Bapi) req and responce as well
In the IR part
we need to configure two message mappings
1) Soap sender to bapi request
2) Bapi response to soap receiver
In the interface mapping we need to assign two mapping one is req mapping and res mapping in mapping program we can get a tab after assigning a bapi
In the ID part
Soap adapter as sender  (with mandatory parameter of MI and namespace)
RFC adapter as receiver  (If RFC is a receiver, no need of configration from SAP side)
Receiver determination
Interface determination
Sender agreement
Receiver agreement
Hope this might help you... Dear Experts. pls correct me if i'm wrong
Thanks

  • Binary Data to PDF and Word Doc

    All,
We have requirement to open a PDF or DOC in a new window from a BAPI output structure. The field returned from the BAPI is a binary field. Following is the code that is implemented for this scenario.
    for(int i=0;i<wdcontext.nodeOutput().nodePtx_Drao().size();i++)
    IWDCachedWebResource resource = WDwebResource.getWebResource(wdcontext.nodeOutput().nodePtx_Drao().getPtx_DraoElementAt(i).getOrblk(), WdWebResourcetype.PDF);
    IWDWindow win = wdComponentAPI.getWindowManager().createNonModalExternalWindow(resource.getUrl(WDFileDownloadBehaviour.OPEN_PLACE.ordinal()), "test");
    win.open();
The problem we are facing here is when we try to open the PDF it throws an error saying "File does not begin with '%PDF-'". If we try to open a word document by changing the resource type some junk values are coming.
Has anyone come across this type of development issues?
Appreciate all your replies and new inputs in this regard.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Nagarajan.

    Hi,
I also tried with the same using the below code. Even I am getting the same error.
    byte[] test=new byte[9];test[0]=2;
    IWDCachedWebResource resource = WDWebResource.getWebResource(test,WDWebResourceType.PDF);
When i tried the same code with other file type its working file.
    IWDCachedWebResource resource = WDWebResource.getWebResource(test,WDWebResourceType.DOC);
From where are you getting this actual byte array? from R/3?. In internet if you search about this error we are getting the results like "The PDF file has a .mme extension rather than a .pdf extension".
Note: This is not the problem with Window or LinkToURL ui elments.
Posting this to give you an idea.
    Regards,
    Charan

  • Binary Content through Gateway and Proxy fails

We are trying to deliver secured content (some in the form of images and PDFs) over our new extranet implementation. We have chosen to gateway all content (generated in Publisher) to leverage portal security. HTML content reaches the client fine; however, all binary content fails. (Images return the dreaded red X).
Analysis has shown us the following:
    1) The Proxy server needs to be HTTP/1.1 compliant
    2) Using Internet Explorer 6,7, the end-user needs to check the Advanced Setting option "Use HTTP 1.1 though Proxy Connections"
Both conditions MUST be true. If either condition is NOT true, the binary content fails.
Additionally, we have confirmed the following:
    1) Disabling the Binary Gateway does not resolve the issue
    2) Binary Content also fails in Firefox (but more testing needed)
    3) Bypassing the proxy allows the binary content to succeed through.
    We are running:
    - ALI 5.04 (upgrading soon)
    - MS ISA Server as Reverse Proxy (but tested with other proxies as well
Our business does NOT want to tell our external users they have to change their browser settings (force HTTP 1.1 through proxy connections) to be able to see content on the site. Some companies lock down these settings, and to force them to change for use is deemed to be unreasonable.
Is anyone delivering binary content (i.e. images, PDFs) through their gateway and a proxy server -- successfully?
    Please let me know.
    [email protected]

    Hi,
I've used Bea's reverse proxy with Apache httpd and iPlanet web server without any issues many many times, sometimes in configurations way more complex that the one you are describing.

    node-1
      node 1-1
         node 1-11a
      node 1-2
    node-2
       node 2-1
node2-2Whenever i click node 1-1 the corresponding parent node ( node-1) reference should appear in my form and when i save this data this data should be saved under parent node and the tree should be re-rendered.
How this can be accomplished and if there are any URL's please refer.

Everybody need not face the same problem you faced. And moreover, everyone out here have their own issues to solve. If people are helping out here, its cause of their passion. Please try to be polite.
First of all, what is that you have tried on the issue? Could you please share your work so that we can try to fill the gaps?

  • IDOC and RFC/PROXY Scenarios

Is there a way to practice IDOC or RFC Scenarios if you only have access to the XI System? So you have XI abap and Java but no R/3 System...
Can someone tell me how I can practice IDOC and RFC scenarios please

It is possible to practive IDOC & RFC scenarios with XI's abap stack as sender & receiver of IDOCs and RFCs with the "XI" in the middle....
However, the problem might be the IDocs & RFCs might have to be created from scratch to test these out....
If you have some IDOcs that you can use in XI abap stack, have the program that generates this IDOc and when(if) XI abap stack receives this, the processing module to process this IDoc...
Similarly, the RFC FM has to be available on XI ABAP so that it can bhe invoked from the RFC interface..
    Thanks.

  • Binary data problem with web services on JRockit but not Sun JDK

I have a problem with binary data in SOAP and JRockit
(jrrt-3.0.0-1.6.0-linux-x64.bin) . I have an set of web services based
on EJB 3.0 which return images as byte arrays inside a SOAP envelope
to be consumed by .NET 2 services. The host app server is Oracle
Application Server 10.3.1 on RHEL Linux update 4, on 64 bit Xeon 5500
    series HP blade hardware.
While most images are fine most of the time, one particular image
gives this message when being consumed in the .NET client:
The '■' character, hexadecimal value 0x1F, cannot be included in a
    name. Line 2, position 380038.
The MSDN suggests that this is usually caused by non-escaping of reserved XML characters like < but this isn't one of those.
The SOAP looks ok and for the life of me I can't see why this ought to
be a problem, especially since the problem doesn't arise running with
the SUN JDK 1.6_06 64 bit)
When making the same call from the OAS Enterprise Manager, I can make the same call with no problem (but the data is just rendered as character data in a browser) which maybe suggests some incompatibility with how JRockit is serializing the data ?
Any ideas, I would be very happy to hear - JRockit gives a 15% or so
speed boost to the website that these services power so obviously we
want to use it if possible.

Seems to be the case that using MTOM stops this problem with JRockit. Strange but apparently true (so far).

  • Data plug-in for binary data with byte streams of variable length

    Hi there,
I would like to write a data plug-in to read binary data from file and I'm using DIAdem 10.1.
Each data set in my file consists of binary data with a fixed structure (readable by using direct access channels) and of a byte stream of variable length. The variable length of each byte stream is coded in the fixed data part.
Can anyone tell me how my data plug-in must look like to read such kind of data files?
    Many thanks in advance!
    Kind regards,
    Stefan

    Hi Brad,
thank you for the very quick response!
I forgot to mention, that the data in the byte stream can actually be ignored, it is no data to be evaluated in DIAdem (it is picture data and the picture size varies from data set to data set).
So basically, of each data set I would like to read the fixed-structure data (which is the first part of the data set) and discard the variable byte stream (last part of the data set).
Here is a logical (example) layout of my binary data file:
    | fixedSize-Value1 | fixedSize-Value2 | fixedSize-Value3 (=length of byte stream) | XXXXXXXXXXXXX (byte stream)
    | fixedSize-Value1 | fixedSize-Value2 | fixedSize-Value3 (=length of byte stream) | XXXXXX (byte stream)
    | fixedSize-Value1 | fixedSize-Value2 | fixedSize-Value3 (=length of byte stream) | XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX (byte stream)
What I would like to show in DIAdem is only fixedSize-Value1 and fixedSize-Value2.
    ´
If I understood right, would it be possible to set the BlockLength of each data set by assigning Block.BlockLength = fixedSize-Value3 and to use Direct Access Channels for reading fixedSize-Value1 and fixedSize-Value2 ?
    Thank you!
    Kind regards,
    Stefan

  • Sending Data Through a Output Stream...

    Hello,
I am writing a program that works on a network...a server is running and client will connect to the server and send specific data for the server to complete transactions on.
The transactions that are mainly seen are SQL SELECT statements and as you can imagine a statement could bring back many records.
At present I have been able to send specific data through streams and have turned this into parameters on the server side and performed SQL. What I need help with or suggestions on is how to get the data back to the client. In some cases it may need to be displayed on screen or just used for further processing?
Please let me know if this is not 100% clear.
    Thanks,
    P

If you are able to send data over a network, then I assume that you know how to do network programming in Java, as well as knowing SQL.
Java has JDBC - Java DataBase Connectivity API that supports your requirements in full.
If you require a custom solution, then you need to be able to read data back from the server - when the server returns the ResultSet back to the client.
A Socket object has both input and output streams. Seems that you know about the output stream, do you not know about the input stream?
If the server is setup to send data back to the client over the same socket, then you should simply be able to read the results back from the socket's input stream.

  • Reading a file on presentation server to binary data table

    Hi Experts
I have to provide a 'Add attachment' functionality in my application and check in the attachments to DMS. Now the DMS check-in api expects the attachment file on presentation server in form of an internal table of binary data. Could you please suggest me any function module to read file data to a table of binary data.
    Thanks and best regards
    Anand.

    hi,
    Try this FM,
C13Z_FILE_UPLOAD_BINARY – Uploads a file in binary format
C13Z_FILE_DOWNLOAD_BINARY – Downloads a file in binary format
    Hope this helps, Do reward.

  • Binary data import with UTC

    Hi!
I have a ldif file, which contains binary data (jpeg-photo) and I want to import this data (output of an X.500) into a connector view.
I implemented a conversion routine, which converts all base64 values to utf-8, but for binary data, it doesn't work.
any idea, how I can convert the inputdata, so that the UTC can import it to the connector view?
    thx and greetings
    michi

    not so.
extended ascii "characters" from the iso_8859_1 set need to be converted to to UTF-8 to be written to CV in LDAP directory.
agreed that binary should be in base64 in that case each "character" has to be UTF-8

  • Binary data modulation suggest

i am having 32 bit binary data(111101010101....), modulate and demodulate the data by using simple ask transreceiver.vi
after demodulation i got only 26 bit binary data
first bit and last 5 bit in the 32 bit data are gone
    only 26 bit is available
pls help suggest whether the problem in the simple ask transreceiver or something else

Have you checked the x-scales of your graphs?  There seems to be a lot of waveform data that appears at x-values to the right of what is shown in the graph that I found when I picked autoscale X axis.
