Binary file created during db2bak

Hello,
I have a Sun ONE Directory Server 5.1. Every night, I excute db2bak command to save my data. This command creates binary file (log.0000001290 for example). Does anyone know what is this file ?
Thanks.
Delphine

These are just transaction log files. Changes are made to these logs and then processed periodically by the directory server. You should see them increment as they get created and then processed.

    Hi,
    Normally the path is in Oracle_home only for example,
    /u01/app/oracle/product/10.1.0/db_1/root.shYou will be prompted for that while installation goes on.

  • No PSWCLIEnvironment file created during installation

    I've installed SUNWisw and the PSWCLIEnvironment file was not created during the process.
    Could anyone tell me what data the file contains as I have to create it on my own?
    Tried reinstalling with the same effect.
    I'm installing the following version: isw.6.0.sp1.solaris.sparc

    Did you previously had Firefox installed?
    The Firefox 4 RC version is a regular release and will replace the current Firefox entry in the Start menu even if you do a custom install (haven't tested this, so I might be wrong). You can easily create a new entry in the Start menu yourself if it is missing by dragging the desktop icon to the start menu or by using Windows Explorer to create a folder structure in "C:\Users\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Mozilla Firefox" if that folder is missing.

  • How do I restore backup swm files created during system recovery from external hard drive

    Good day,
    I was facing some problems with my laptop (HP Envy 17 3D Notebook with windows 7 home premium, 64 bit) and I had to return it back to its original state using system recovery.
    During the process I was asked if I want to back up my data. I have chosen to backup my data in the flash drive. Once the process has completed and my laptop is to the original state, I tried to recover my backup but it tells me:
    The version of this file is not compatible with the version of windows you're running. Check your computer's system information to see whether you need an x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit) version of the program, and then contact the software publisher.
    If i click run as administrator it tell me:
    Windows cannot find 'F:\Backup_2015-04-29 143842\Restore.exe'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again.
    there are files labeled like backup.swm, backup1.swm, backup2.swm. I can't open these files or do anything with them. In a text document it lists all the files it apparently copied. It is only a list of text, nothing else.
    any help will be greatly appriciated.

    Probably not...the .bin file is an encrypted binary format (designed for security as there are router and wireless authentication passwords stored in it....

  • How do I restore backup1.swm files created during system recovery from external hard drive.

    On my hp dm1 with windows 7 In full detail, this is what I did. I clicked to do a system recovery, it asked if I wanted to backup the files, I said yes. It said it backed up my files on the external hard drive. I continued the system recovery. It set my computer back to factory settings. I tried to recover my backup, it acted like it was restoring the files and showed them going into the c: area in a folder. I open the folder and it says the folder is empty. I hit properties and the folder contains 10mb+ of data. I go back into my LaCie drive, there are files labeled like backup.swm, backup1.swm, backup2.swm. I can't open these files or do anything with them. In a text document it lists all the files it apparently copied. It is only a list of text, nothing else. Have a 12 page research paper in these back ups that is due in a few hours so any help will be greatly appriciated.

    @Daniella1985,
    If the standard procdure of locating the program launcher (a .exe file) on the first backup media (disk 1 or the external storage device) is not working, then you can manually extract the files using 7-zip.
    7-zip can be found here.
    Once 7-zip is installed, open it and navigate to the first .swm file of the backup.  Right-click the .swm file and select 7-zip>open archive.  Once that opens, it should reveal the contents of the .swm files.  If the file contains something you want to keep, you can either extract each invidual file or extract the entire directory.  If you want to extract each individual file, highlight the desired file and click the extract button at the top.  If you want to extract the entire directory, make sure no items are highlighted and click the extract  button at the top.
    This is a manual process and it can be a large task depending on how many files were backed up, but it is one method to get the backedup files when the standard procedure is not working.

    The reading of a string from a binary file stops at a NULL character (0x00).  When the first character is 0x00, you are just reading the one character.  I would suggest writing to a byte array since you are doing the inverting.  And then you can read as a byte array.

    you have hit bull's eye...!!
    After playing around a little more, I think I might have misinformed you a little.  If you explicitly tell it a string, it looks for the string length at the very beginning and reads that length of bytes as a string.  It appears that if you implicitly tell it to read a string (not wire the data type) it reads all of the bytes directly, including the length of string you wrote.
    Regardless, my advice is the same.  You should just write and read using byte array.  It is less conversions if you are performing your "encryption".
    EDIT:  Here's a snippet of the VI I was playing with to figure this out.

  • Bug in LV8 : 'Save for previous version' and 'Write to Binary File' VI

    Hello
    I am using LabVIEW 8's revamped 'Write to Binary File' VI with a 'TRUE' boolean constant wired to the optional 'prepend array or string size?' to write non-trivial structures to a binary file. I then read the file with the 'Read from Binary File' VI and everything is fine. I don't wire anything to the 'file (use dialog)' input (don't know if this can help).
    However, after saving my VI for LabVIEW 7.1, I cannot read the binary files created with the LV7 version of the VI anymore. After examining the LV7 converted version of the VI, there is a 'FALSE' boolean constant that is wired to the equivalent of the 'prepend array or string size' input, which breaks the binary format that is expected.
    The attached files are LV8 and 'saved for LV7' versions of a dummy VI that writes an array of 5 integers into a binary file. To test the bug, start LV8, open the LV8 version, run it and create a 'test-lv8.bin' file, then open the LV7 version, run it and create a 'test-lv7.bin' file. Check the content of the two files : the size of the array is indeed missing from the 'test-lv7.bin' file, which can be assimilated as a bug in my opinion.
    I think I found another one too : if in LV8 I wire the 'cancelled' boolean output of the 'Open/Create/Replace file' to the selector of a case structure, the 'converted to LV7' version VI will have an error, saying the Case Structure selector is not wired.
    Could someone please confirm these are indeed bugs ?
    Thanks in advance and have a nice day.

    Test Binary File v7-v8 LV8.vi ‏7 KB

    I'm using LV8.6 and need to read a .bin file created in MATLAB. This file obviously does not contain the 4 byte header that LabVIEW prepends .bin files with. So when I use Read from Binary File, I get no data (I'm trying to read an array of doubles). I've tried making my .bin file both in native and big-endian format and changing the representation (double, int64, float64) but none of this works. I noted that if I create the same array in a .bin file in LabVIEW and wire a FALSE to the "prepend array or string size?", my VI for reading .bin files can't read this file either.
    Any work-arounds here?
    (I'll try attaching my write & read VI's)

  • How to read a binary file written in LabVIEW 6.1 using VB ?

    How to read a file saved in binay forrmat in LabVIEW 6.1 platform through VB.
    Is there any code ?
    Thanks

    Hello,
    LabVIEW files stored in binary can take on just about any format that
    you choose, so there will not be a single piece of code that will give
    you what you are looking for.  You can use VB's standard file
    operation functions to read in a binary file created by LabVIEW, just
    as you would read in any other binary file.  See this page
    on Microsoft's web site for more information on the binary file read
    operation.  How you stored the data in the binary file will
    determine how you need to extract it from the byte array.  So, if
    the first element stored in the file was a 32-bit integer, you could
    extract an int from the byte stream to recover that piece of your
    data.  You would need to know in advance how the file was
    formatted in order to successfully retrieve the information.  If
    you need a reference for the VB functions, the microsoft link above
    will get you to some good information.

  • To read structure variable from a binary file

    Hi Everyone,
    Iam having a binary file created by c++.It contains structure  like this one...
    struct
          char name[2];
          unsigned short num;
          char identity[4];
          double date;
          union
              byte id[4];
              int sizeconst;
              int size;
    I want to read this struct file in labview. How can i do that?

    Once I had the same problem, I've asked NI-support and they said to me because of different kind of reading method that that operation is impossibile to do, so the solution to solve the problem has been to create a C++ library that reads the structure from the file and makes disponible the data. After, I've called the library by "Call by library function" in my Labview software.

    Hi Venkat,
    I think this isn't the best forum to answer your question but I'll try.
    You've lost your DATABASE FILES (means DBF files, control files (CTL), redo logs)? Correct?
    Or did you loose also the Oracle Home where the software has been installed?
    If you've lost your Oracle installation than you might do the following:
    1) Install 8.1.7.0 software on your standby server
    2) Install patch set 8.1.7 4 into this home
    3) Metalink-Note:70233.1 will describe the full process of creating an 8i standby database from your PROD.
    If you use RMAN than please have a look into Metalink-Note:203980.1 and Note:118409.1 - it'll describe also the init.ora parameters necessary for a standby
    You'll find a description of an ideal init.ora for the standby in ML Note:139809.1 and specific for Data Guard 8i here: ML-Note:132991.1
