Bing search page

Since my phone updated and installed Cortana the bing search page has gone can I get it back

Hello, gaztaylor5667. Once Cortana is enabled on your Lumia Windows Phone, the search key will be assigned as her shortcut key. If you aren't using Cortana, you'll go to Bing Search. @farby's suggestion is the easiest way to access Bing Vision while Cortana is turned on.
Being able to easily access Bing Vision while Cortana is on would be a superb experience. We suggest that you send this as a feature suggestion at windowsphone.uservoice.com. This is the right channel to submit feedback and suggestions to help improve your Lumia experience.
Hope this information helps.

• When clicking for a new tab, I used to to see previuos tabs history. But now it goes to an "I=play, yahoo bing search page. How do I delete this page or go back to the history page

when I click "new tab" the new page would be the search abr along with the :most used list. But now the "new tab" opens in a "I-Play", yahoo-bing search page. How do I get rid of the yahoo page and get back to the most viewed page????

A new tab opens by default as a blank tab (about:blank).
If that isn't the case then an extension has changed that behavior.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

You can look at this extension to set which page to open in a new tab:
*NewTabURL : https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/newtaburl/
You can open the about:config page via the location bar and do a search for bing via the Filter at the top of the about:config page.
You can reset all bing related prefs that appear bold (user set) via the right-click context menu to their default values.

• When I try to open Firefox by clicking on the desktop icon, all I get is a Bing search page and no Firefox.

When I click on the Firefox desktop icon, I get a Bing search page. Nothing relating to Firefox is evident and the only way I can get out of the Bing search page is using Control/Alt/Delete. I can't access anything in Firefox at all.

A possible cause is security software (firewall,anti-virus) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

If there is a problem with searching via the default about:home page then try to reset the search engine used on the about:home page.
Reset the browser.startup.homepage_override.mstone pref via the right-click context menu to the default on the about:config page and close and restart Firefox to restore the about:home page to its default.
#Open the about:config page via the location bar
#Type in the Filter bar: mstone
#Right-click the browser.startup.homepage_override.mstone line and select: Reset
#Close and restart Firefox
If this didn't help then delete the delete the chromeappsstore.sqlite file in the Firefox Profile Folder and repeat the above.
You can reset some preferences to the default with the SearchReset extension:
Note that the SearchReset extension only runs once and then uninstalls automatically, so it won't show on the "Firefox > Add-ons" page (about:addons).

• When I open my AOL mail in Firefox, the message opens then changes to the Bing search page.

I can see the message for a few seconds, then the screen blinks and I am looking at the search page where the email should be. This only seems to be happening on one of my computers and it does not happen in other browsers.

Hi rickyoshiro,
This sounds like a known issue reported here:
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=713014
There was a workaround posted, but I've not tested it myself. Here are the steps.
# Go into Yahoo Messenger Options - Change the Window in the dropdown to Tab and press OK.
# Then go back and switch it to small window and press OK.
Once the bug is officially resolved, you could try running a Nightly or Aurora build to use the fix early.
Hopefully this helps!

• I have attempted to change my home page a number of times but it keeps going back to a Bing/Google search page (set up by eSnips). Where do I got to get rid of this home page that keeps poping up every time I open Firefox?

I had downloaded something from eSnips and likely I missed the "set my home page" check box. So when I opened Firefox, I ended up with this eSnips "Google/ Bing" search page.

After trying many of the suggestions found online I found that the only thing that worked was to completely uninstall firefox and re-install it again!

• Bing web page will not fully load

Hello,
I have a windows 8.1 64 pro workstation on the network that will not fully load bing.com or any search link from the MSN home page. As far as I can tell every other web page loads correctly just not anything with bing. I tested
in Chrome - same issue.
The bing page only loads the choices at the top left of the page.
The search box only has an orange square - no magnifying glass.
There is no bing background picture.
There is no scrolling picture bar at the bottom of bing. If I copy a working result Bing search url from another PC - it still only shows a fraction a bing search page - none of the results.
Google search works fine.
Chrome shows only the partial bing search page - same as IE.
I've have checked the ip - no problems with dns or gateway.
I've tried using 8.8.8.8 for the dns server - still won't load the page in ie or chrome.
I've tried loading a new windows profile - still won't load the page in ie or chrome.
I've checked the hosts file - no entries.
I've run multiple types of virus checks including malwarebytes & Symantec.
I've applied all windows updates.
I've reset IE to defaults - obviously that won't help since chrome can't load it either.
There are no domain policies applied.
There are now ie addins - again - wouldn't impact chrome.
There are no unusual applications installed.
It is not using IE 64 bit - again wouldn't impact chrome.

Hi,
According to your description, since both IE and Chrome has same problem, it's not browser problem.
Have you tried to disable firewall and Symantec temporarilly for test?
If problem persists, firstly start system with Clean boot. Then using Process Monitor to capture the trace of accessing bing.com.

• When I open a new tab it opens a Bing search windos instead og a blank page like it used to

When I open a new tab it opens a Bing search window instead of a blank page like it used to.
When FF starts it opens a blank page like it should, but if I click on the + to the right of the current tab is when the Bing tabs open. It's just a Bing search window not the Bing homepage. If needed I can submit a screenshot of the new page.
I use 2 addons affecting tabs. Multiple Tab Handler, and Colorful Tabs.
I think SlimBrowser is an IE based browser.
I use Win pro 64 bi on a HP laptop and FF 3.6.8
I've never had this problem all the years I used FF until now
Any Ideas?
Thanks

This is not just an Add-on problem! It's not in my Add-ons. It isn't in my Program Files. Not one single solution I've found on any of the forums has resolved the problem for myself or many others. This is extremely aggravating, and I want it gone!

• BING search is in the middle of my home page. How do I get rid of it?

I don't want BING on my home page. You added it without my permission. Please get rid of it.

Mozilla makes more money from you using Google searches than you using the Microsoft search.
Getting rid of Bing as your primary search engine, and from your location bar has so far been relatively easy. Microsoft made a mistake and Mozilla was asked (maybe with some coaxing) to add the Bing toolbar to the Add-ons "Blocklist". To be having problems at this time would seem to mean that you have turned off or least don;'t have some security in Firefox turned on.
