Bio Update via USB for X1Carbon Haswell

Hi All,
Having some issues trying to update the bios.
Currently running Ubuntu so cannot use the windows utility to update, my only option now is to create a bootable USB and use tools like UNetbootin to create the USB via the iso image.
I have found that the iso image from the Lenovo website is empty? I had tried to mount this iso file on my system and its empty... no hidden files etc... I also tried to download it on spare windows machine with a cdrom and used the windows default burning tool to burn the iso which gave an error.
Has anyone had any success updating their bios using the ISO file supplied by Lenovo from: http://support.lenovo.com/en_AU/downloads/detail.page?&DocID=DS039783

I am pretty sure you have to do it the way Canon tells you to in its documentation on the support page for the 280, i.e. copying the firmware file to a card in a card reader. There is no mention of ImageBrowser in the documentation. Updating via ImageBrowser is probably just for the browser software on your computer. Most things can be done via USB but updating firmware is usually a pretty rare thing except for this particular model camera which has seen two updates so far and I wish would see another (since I too am verging on returning it to the store before my 30 days are up, the day after I get home from vacation). The issues improved with the updates but are still there (see very long thread about battery issues in this forum).

I had everything running on windows 7 fine until 2 days ago. I installed Live Update from MSI website. I was about to install driver updates for my motherboard, but the bios update went instead. my pc tried to restart after the bios update installed, but it failed. would not post and would only see black screen.
then i removed one of my memory sticks. it would post, but then windows would not start up. it would get stuck at windows loading screen. i tried to reformat with my windows cd. but during install it would blue screen of death me. i tried multiple times and it would always blue screen of death with different errors. the last one i remember was a message saying i should off turn shadowing and caching.
this all started happening after i attempted bios update via Live Update.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

As far as I know Toshiba European driver page does not provide any details what has been changed in the BIOS.
But I found some details on Toshiba US page.
It seems that Fn+N+1/2/3/4 debug function has been removed in BIOS 2.0 to avoid keyboard abnormal behavior.

Their are some display adaptors you can get. I have an older Mac Pro with DVI but my monitor is a Thunderbolt Display. This used to be around $250. It is way cheaper now.

Bios Update, lost USB go figure

Ok so I thought I would update the bios(even though I had no problems) and yes all the drivers. Everything went fine except for a longer boot time into winxp(maybe 10 seconds) until winxp got to the USB. After finding all the hardware all over again i.e. drives, printer, etc... it found the USB host controller and wahla winxp came back with an error while trying to load the drivers for the VIA USB 2.0 Host controller.
XP mentioned about a line missing in the INF file? Never seen that one before and now I have a exclamation point over my USB 2.0 Host controller in the hardware listing. And yep I tried all the usualls, uninstall the controller, installed the drivers over again and notta. ?(
Anyone have any ideas how to fix, of if there is a patch?

will try all the sugesstions you guys mentioned, Im pretty sure all the bios info is uptight, I went through it with a fine tooth comb. I did try one thing, I reinstalled Xp clean and the same thing. Device manager listed three host and three roots under the USB icon, it also listed a big fat question mak on an extra USB host so I said what the hey and plugged in the Digital camera and whatcha know, usb worked dandy but still, something to work on and find out why I am getting a ghost(kinda) usb host with a question mark on it that cant be installed.

Efi update via usb flash drive?

I would like to know if there is a way to perform an efi update via a usb flash drive?

tried the latest 2010 build, got the same problem: 'missing operating system' and again in ubuntu the flash drive is an unknown filesystem.
tried again on a different computer and got the same error.. how frustrating!
edit: just to clarify i used the following command 'sudo dd if=path/to/image.img of=/path/to/device' i also changed directory to where the image file is and tried again without absolute referencing the path for 'if=' both of which returned that the command had been completed successfully in terminal.
edit: tried using again with a different USB stick (Maxell 4GB), again terminal returned 'x amount of files successfully copied to sdc1'.
.. something different happened this time, i didn't get the same error as before, instead the text 'grub' appears with a blinking cursor. nothing else.

Z68a-gd65 boot loop after bios update using USB

Hi there,
My z68a-gd65 (G3) went into a boot loop after I did a bios update from a USB key that I installed using the latest BIOS version on the MSI site 7681vP8.zip
After the system restarted, it keeps booting up for 5 seconds and then shutting down, I removed all external devices and the Geforce GTX 550 Ti card and used the onboard card, but still no change...
Is there a way to set the board to factory defaults again???

Maybe for others to solve the same problem, I found out what was the cause of this problem, I had a USB/Firewire card installed in the PC, after removing it the BIOS update could proceed from the USB stick as planned.
After the update though, my USB/firewire card can still not be installed back into the slot, because doing so will make the boot loop appear again, very odd!
Does anyone know why this new BIOS will not work with the card that has been inside my PC for 2 years???

Camera firmware update via USB thru ImageBrowser EX?

Hello everyone!
I recently made my first ever Canon camera in the history of the universe (Powershot SX280 HS) and it's amazing.
I have a question, though, about firmware updates.
When I launch ImageBrowser EX, and click on the button to "update to latest version" with my camera connected to my computer via USB, does this update the firmware too? Or does this only update ImageBrowser EX?
I understand that updating the firmware requires me to download a file from my product's support page and manually installing it using a memory card. But I was wondering if updating through USB is also possible.

LFA1 Table fields are not updated via IDOC for particular vendors

We have a scenario where some of the additional vendor fields in transaction xk02 should be updated via inbound IDOC.
The IDOC segments have the corresponding vendor field values in it.
For particular vendors, the updation is not taking place for those fields.
What could be the possible reason. Kindly help me with this.

Neo V ICS Update via Bridge for Mac on Snow Leopard

I am trying to update my "neo v" via "bridge for mac" on my mac mini (10.6.8 - snow leaopard)
I am connecting in MSC mode as Phone is not detected by Bridge in MTP mode
In MSC mode I do get the notification for ICS update however, after the Prepare stage it asks me to switch to MTP mode.
I do so and nothing happens.
I disconnect and try to reconnect in MTP mode and nothing happens
Please help/advise

But when i try update my notebook - i got message, your bios update file older than your original firmware? but im ignore it and force update. Im understand that, but i still have a problems with Windows 8.1 x64, after Win10. When i try update AHCI controller driver - i got BSOD. no one version get good update, only oldest 2006 year standart universal driver HACI from Microsoft still work, but HDD continue freezing. Some Power flags on my HDD after Win10 get u some strange settings, and BIOS V580c too old - to correct work with it.
What i must do to fix it? (sorry for bad english, im russian)

BIOS update or not for K8D Master3

At this moment we are looking for a CPU upgrade (running at this moment 2 x Opteron 240) for the K8D Master3 (MSI 9161 ), the choise is proberly the new Opteron 252 .
Can somebody tell me if I need a BIOS update for the K8D Master 3 before adding this CPU's .... ??

Thinkpad T440s BIOS update via PXE fails with "invalid system disk"

I'm trying to boot via PXE to the BIOS 2.24 update ISO image because the T440s comes without a DVD drive. The Thinkpads are running RHEL 6.5 workstation installed. I'm using syslinux 6.02 and the following menu entry:
label lenovo_t440s
    menu label Lenovo Thinkpad T440s BIOS 2.24 Update
    kernel memdisk
    append initrd=lenovo/t440s/gjuj11us.iso iso
The ISO gets loaded via TFTP and seems to boot, but then an error message appears:
Loading boot sector... booting...
Lenovo Group Limited
Invalid system disk
Replace the disk, and then press any key.
The Thinkpads come with the following SSD drive: SAMSUNG MZ7TD256HAFV-000L9.
Anyone had luck with updating BIOS via PXE boot?
We also have Thinkpads T430s. There the BIOS update ISO image loads, displays the menu, but when one presses "update firmware" then it freezes.

Same behaviour when I try without PXE and load memdisk and ISO file directly via GRUB using this entry in /boot/grub/grub.conf:
