This is the system and just flashed the 1.9b5 bios and need help with all the additional memory timings. Is there a good place to start? This bios is much different than any previous and this is all greek to me.......and I cannot read greek. thanks in advance.

AMI BIOS 2.2 Memory Settings

Maybe it's just me, but I can't get the memory settings in the AMI BIOS 2.2 (MSI K8T-Neo FIS2R) to do anything. Changes make no difference and the memory just runs at its SPD information every time (I'm using sandra to make this determination). I've run memtest 86+ on this memory at lower settings (3-3-3-6-1T) with no problems. In addition, A64 tweaker shows memory values as reserved values, so I can't tweak with it either.
The system is perfectly stable (it should be, given that it's running at the most conservative settings possible).
RAM is in slots 1&2 so it's not a DDR333/DDR400 1T/2T Athlon64 limitation. I have an Abit Kv8-max3 that runs this memory fine at 2.5-3-3-6-1T. (Hate to say it, but Phoenix's award core is MUCH more feature rich than these AMI BIOSes)
I didn't have this problem with the previous BIOS, but I'm a believer in running the latest, greatest BIOS. This statement is based on the 7 years I spent in x86 BIOS development at Compaq and Dell (while sempron D0 fix is all that's listed, I'd bet there's other subtle bugs resolved in the latest BIOS). Push comes to shove and I'll just reflash the 2.1 or 2.0 BIOS, but I can't imagine that MSI would have just broken this in a recent BIOS release.

There are a lot or reports on this Bios being broken. Just do a search for 2.2 Bios and see what is up.

Belkin Router Firewall Settings - Need Help Please

I'm new to Apple and love the machine, but I am having a problem with the firewall on my router. Let me explain the setup, then the problem...
I have the following in my home network:
1 hp desktop running Windows XP Media Center Edition, SP3 (Professional)
1 Belkin wired / wireless router
1 Canon Pixma MP500 Printer set for Sharing (Connected to hp desktop through USB)
1 iMac 20" running Leopard OS
The hp desktop and the iMac are both hardwired to the router. The router's security settings are as follows:
Will NOT broadcast the SSID
Mac Filtering is ENABLED (iMac MAC address is included in list of allowed connections)
WPA-PSK Security ENABLED
Wireless connectivity is ENABLED (For Wii, PSP, and Xbox 360)
Now the problem...
Everything on the network works beautifully, except the iMac. It will not allow iChat services, will not allow sharing of the desktop with other iChat members. It does, however, connect to the internet, but will not access the hp shared folders or printer. When I attempt to even add the printer, the printer does not even show up. I DO have Bonjour installed on the hp, but when I run Bonjour, I get a message that reads something like, "There are no Bonjour enabled printers available."
I know it is the firewall built into the Belkin router because I placed the iMac into the Demilitarized Zone, and everything started working as expected. For those of you not familiar with DMZ on the router, it basically allows you to pick an IP address to place outside of the firewall, so you can keep the router firewall enabled, but you can choose an IP address (i.e., a computer) that is not behind the firewall.
After placing the iMac in the DMZ, I went to add the shared printer on iMac. Not only did it show up immediately and give me the ability to add it and print to it, but I could also browse shared folders on my hp. I was also able to connect to a friend on iChat, and we were able to share each other's desktops.
Before placing the iMac in the DMZ, I opened a couple of ports (I don't recall which ones at the moment), and I was able to get iChat AV to work properly, but could not get the shared desktop feature to work. I believe if I had a comprehensive list of ports to enable, I could get this issue resolved, but I can't seem to find such a list anywhere on Apple's web site (or any other web site for that matter). Do any of you have such a list of ports??
I can provide more information if needed, but any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

I found a soft copy of the Belkin router's setup instructions on-line. I am going to enable the UPnP feature, as the manual indicates that it is necessary to have this feature enabled to do the things I want to do. The manual also indicates that the router ships with this feature disabled by default. I have not had a need to enable the feature when I had two PCs, so hopefully this will solve the problem.
In either case, thanks for directing me to the common ports. If enabling the UPnP feature does not work, at least I can see which ports I need to enable.

Huge Memory Leak - Need help.

There is a huge memory leak in our application. Because of this there are frequent session timeout. When we analysed the heap dump using Memory Analyser Tool, we got the leak suspects and the problem suspects are as below:
One instance of "org.apache.jasper.compiler.JspRuntimeContext" loaded by "org.apache.catalina.loader.StandardClassLoader @ 0x87ff8098" occupies 161,832,200 (23.30%) bytes. The memory is accumulated in one instance of "java.util.concurrent.ConcurrentHashMap$Segment[]" loaded by "<system class loader>".
One instance of "org.apache.catalina.tribes.tipis.LazyReplicatedMap" loaded by "org.apache.catalina.loader.StandardClassLoader @ 0x87ff8098" occupies 133,578,920 (19.23%) bytes. The memory is accumulated in one instance of "java.util.concurrent.ConcurrentHashMap$Segment[]" loaded by "<system class loader>".
185 instances of "org.apache.jasper.runtime.BodyContentImpl", loaded by "org.apache.catalina.loader.StandardClassLoader @ 0x87ff8098" occupy 133,502,776 (19.22%) bytes.
What could be the root cause for this error and how to resolve this?

First, in general you not provided enough details to get any help. OS? OS version? Hardware specifics?
Second, are you running custom code? If so, post it so you can get help.
Third, if you're not running custom code, the odds of you having a "huge memory leak" are pretty small.

Problem saving Default settings - Need Help

Hello. New user to this forum.
I am running BB Desktop Software V. 7.1.0.41 (Bundle 42) on a Windows 7 64 bit "Ultimate" platform. I'm using a "domain" account (from Active Directory) and it has "Enterprise Administrator" rights.
When I start BB Desktop, I click on "Tools--> Desktop Options," and then I click the "Change" button to change the "Deffault File location" for saving backup files (it defaults to "MY Documents\BlackBerry\Backup"). I change it, save it, and it changes to the new directory location I specify. I then do my backup and sync operation, and exit the program.
However, when I restart the program for the next backup and sync, I find the the location has returned to the default location ("My Documents\BlackBerry\Backup") and not what I changed it to the previous session. I change it again, and it stays changed but only for the duration of that session, If I exit the program and return to it, it goes back to the default setting...
Is this the normal behvaior of the program? Are we not allowed to change the default backup location permanently? Or is something else stopping it from changing permanently? Perhaps a Local or domain policy setting (I dion't know if Blackberry Desktop Software is affected by these settings)...
Any help greately appreciated. It's just a pain to have to change the location every time I enter the program.

Hi All, this is my first post and question.
I have LR3 running on 2 PC's. I wanted to change a couple of the default settings. On one of the PC's, I made a couple of changes and saved them using, Develop-Set Default Settings. When I restarted LR3, these changes were saved and being used. On the other PC, I did the exact same thing and when I restarted LR3, the changes had not been saved. Any idea why this may have happened?
Is it possible that you are using a different body with your other PC. The Develop presets are camera dependant. That's the only thing that I can think of.

Also, I am wondering about watermarks used in LR3. On one of my PC's there is a watermarks called, A Charming Font. On the other PC, in LR3, that is not am option. I really like this watermark. Can I somehow add it to the one that does not have it?
I believe that you should find the watermark somewhere within the "Application Support (may be called something else on a PC)" folder for Lightroom. Im not sure where that would be on a PC though. Try searching on your OS (ctrl+F) for "A Charming Font."

6085 Memory Problem - need help

I have a new 2 Gb memory card installed in my 6085. I have formatted the card and loaded some music using PC Suite. I can get around 550 Megs of music loaded and when I try to load the next song I get a message "...cannot copy ______ the device has either stopped responding or has been disconnected..." This happens when I get 550 Megs of music loaded - and the device is still connected.
Also, when I try to download the English version of the user's manual I get an error message on my Adobe Reader screen which says "the file is damaged and could not be repaired".
Any help with these problems will be greatly appreciated.

I have discovered that I can download the User's manual and open the document on my laptop. The laptop has an older version of Adobe Reader (than the desktop where I was having the problem) which handles the downloaded file OK.
I also have discovered that I can put more files onto my memory card if I put them into more folders. There appears to be a limit on how many top level files or folders that can be on the memory card. I discovered this by visiting the Kingston memory website.

I may have messed up my settings, need help!

I haven't come across these issues ever before and have tried all I know to figure out what I did to cause them!
Here are my issues::
1. I can't change the stroke weight of any line to anything less than 1pt. I can select the options for .25, .5 and .75, but when I select one of those, nothing happens and it stays at 1pt.
2. It seems like Illustrator is forcing a grid on me somehow - ie: when I am zoomed in say 6400% and making sure my lines are lined up and perfect. I select a shape to move it onto the line of another, and when I release the mouse, it isn't on the line where i had it, but either above or below it a fraction. Try as I might, when I move it again, it seems it either snaps to something above or below. I have taken off my 'snap to grid' preference but dont know what else to try.

Multithread memory hog, need help

I have written a program that seeks out a certain type of file from a directory tree structure. the program has to run in as little time as possible, but still has to go through thousands of directories. I threaded the below program but it takes up like 70 meg of memory. Is there anything I can do to make it smaller, or should I go back to square one. Also, this program is accessing files on a network drive. (Q:\ is a Maxtor MaxAttach storage server)

Network Settings: Need Help!

Hi people,
I have an older iMac I'm playing with.
I have a Verizon FiOS connection, but am using airport to connect to Verizon's router. (There are two other computers using this network).
On my other systems, my duplex setting is always at half duplex.
But on this machine and this Verizon router, my Duplex setting always reverts to Full-Duplex.
Is this a problem that slows my system down? Or is this the correct setting for Verizon's Routers?
Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated.

Full duplex is faster than half duplex. It has nothing to do with your particular router. Duplex is part of the communications protocols. See this article.

I upgraded to Firefox 8 and it is eating up too much memory. Need help.

I received a message to upgrade to the new version 8 to correct instability issues with Firefox. Ever since I did, I keep getting messages that Firefox is eating too much memory. My system is running slower than ever before. Last time the message showed it was 3.0 mb.

K8N SLI FI Memory Settings Help

I have 4 x DDR400 in Dual Channel mode. Datasheet below: -

I previously had an ASUS A8N Board with no stability problems until i tried to add a sound blaster live card and had issues with its handling of interrupts. Seem to be a problem with the Asus Board as a tried another sound card and issues were same. Couldn't separate Int for card from display (tried different PCI slots).
I recent bought a K8N SLI FI motherboard (updated bios to 1.60) and have nothing but stability problems since. System continually freezes at intermitant intervals. (I note the K8N as different DRAM page in bios to A8N). I am using a 600W Shaw PSU.
I note with 1.6 bios the auto memory settings don't seem to match the memory sheet enclosed.
i.e. Memory voltage is 2.5 (2.4x) according to the system monitor, not 2.6 as required. Tcl, etc seems to differ also.
I have AMD 3500+ CPU.
Can you please help and provide correct Tcl, Tras, Trp,Trrd, Trc, Trfc, Trwrt, Twr, Twtr, Tref settings and advise if any setting changes to User Config mode please.
I am not interested in over-clocking, i just want a reliable system.

Unfortunately, my system still keeps freezing in WinXP (32) and is as useful as t.ts on a bull.
I currently have the auto setting with the main timing showing 3-3-3-8 at boot time.
Voltage core-centre shows within spec 2.6x for ram and 1.5x for cpu.
I had to beef the cpu voltage by 3.3% setting to get 1.5x as it was showing 1.4x in the health report.
I am using latest nVidia driver 6.70 package and have a force 6600 card with latest drivers.
Never had any stablity problems in the ASUS A8N until i stuck an extra sound card in there (both SB Live and CMI3784) and then thing would reboot withever 2nd sound card drivers loaded. Pinned it too problems with the IRQ allocation and figured a design problem.
Bought the K8N SLI FI board and have nothing but random freeze problems.
No answers from MSI, great!
Apart from irq sharing problems on a8n, that board limited the DDR to 333 and not 400 when in dual channel mode.
What settings do i use to archieve timings for 333 on this board?
I am trying to use the board for video editing work and prefer reliability over performance.

i have this laptop with win 7 installed. it worked fine,until i did one o cleaning procceses with TuneUp2009.
( i do it regulary every month and it was ok ) but now after tuneup2009 restarted my pc, on start up he show this stop error. STOP 0x000000F4.
I tried safe mode but is cannot acces,the same error code. i have tried to format my pc with a disc win7 but still no succes,
it seems the pc doesnt do boot from cd room ( i have changed boot order on bios setup).
And now need help

That is still not the complete model but gives me some idea of the age of the system. Can you get into the BIOS [F10] as you power on to try a hard drive test? The hard drive can get so corrupt it will affect all attempts at booting. I might also try removing the hard drive and see if it will then boot from CD or usb flash drive.

Surfcontrol memory settings

Hello,
I have to upgrade our bordermanager 3.8 server to 3.9 and therefor will update surfcontrol to the latest version. I think this must be 6.1 ? It's not so easy to find it at the websense page anymore. Has anybody the current memory settings needed for surfcontrol for me ?

No Bios Update for Satellite: L755D-S5204 / Inability to change Memory Settings in Bios

Ok so I bought two new 8GB of BLUE Kingston Hyperx 1600 MHZ Memory Modules with heat spreaders recently from newegg.
I installed them, and my system recognizes the full 8 GB, but when running CPU-Z the memory MHZ is registering in at 665.5 MHZ.
I want to be able to run my Memory at least the STANDARD minimum 1333 MHZ if not be able to change the MHZ if possible to 1600 MHZ. I CANNOT DO THIS WITH THE BIOS THAT CAME WITH MY SYSTEM, AND I CANNOT FIND A BIOS UPDATE ANYWHERE ON THE TOSHIBA SITE THAT WILL LET ME DO THIS.
My system Laptop Satellite L755D-S5204 has the basic Bios that came with the system. However I do not know or CAN NOT FIND any flash updates to update the bios so I can change these setting.
My question to Toshiba Tech support is it possible to clock my system memory higher, and how do I do this with a BIOS that doesn't let me make any changes to my Voltage to my Memory, and doesn't let me make any changes to system memory or memory timing settings??
When you figure that out and if you could possibly help me resolve this problem, please email me because as a computer technician I am really intrigued as to the reason why Toshiba doesn't have a FLASH BIOS UPDATE that will let you change the Memory settings, and Memory Timings!!

BIOS does not provide such option!
I have no idea what graphic card you have but for example the Sat P850-138 was equipped with an NVIDIA GeForce GT 630M graphic card.
This GPU supports dedicated VRAM (default 2048MB)
The available graphics memory can be expanded using system memory, through TurboCache
In case the system memory would be expanded to 6GB RAM, the TurboCache technology could use up to 4,095 MB VRAM
