Bios Download failed, corrupting bios; machine will not boot up

My unit -Lonovo 3000 K100 57068352; Vista OS.
on 10/12/09 I downloaded Bios; 2skg33a; released by Mar coGU; Release date 2009, 2, 27; based on Bios 2skg31a.  The download went smooth, and reported everything completed.  I rebooted the machine, and it will boot until the OS reaches the beginning of the start page, then recycles to the start.
I have done a complete recovery of my system and this doesn't help.  It does the same thing.  I believe the Bios are corrupted and is not part of the Hard Disk system.
I need to be able to download the original Bios for this machine.
Can anyone help?  My machine is not usable without a correct Bios.
Thanks for any help.

Did u download the correct one? I checked this page and found there are 2 different bios available for different bios ID.
Flash BIOS update (BIOS ID: 2SKG)
Flash BIOS update (BIOS ID: 2SKT)
Also, i saw the release date is 2009-03-25, and the download link showed the text as 2SJG33A and not the one with K. Where did u download actually?
Btw, U have to check ur bios ID before installing the correct ones. Follow the description in the page for steps to check the ID.

  • Machine will not boot into Windows!!

I formatted a 32 GB partition in NTFS, then successfully installed Windows XP Pro along with Leopard Bootcamp drivers. All was well. And then I tried to restart.
I held the "Option" key until the Mac OS and Windows drives showed. Selected the Windows drive and clicked on the arrow. Nothing happened except for the cursor freezing in position and the drive eventually spinning down. A light touch on the power button shut the machine down.
I have tried selecting the Windows drive as the default startup disc in System Preferences, no dice.
What have I done wrong? What can be done to repair the issue? I need help, wife about to start throwing stuff
    All the best,
    Chumpy

Odd thing I noticed. When installing the Windows XP Pro, new full installation disc, not repair disc, I had to shut down before installing the Leopard disc and loading Bootcamp and Leopard drivers because I ran out of time. The machine booted right into Windows the next time I tried. Then, after loading Bootcamp and drivers off Leopard disc the machine will not restart into Windows.
I have tried to do it by selecting it as the default drive and by pressing "Option" and selecting the Windows drive. Neither approach does anything. Literally. The optical drive and the harddrive eventually spin down and the machines white screen is frozen.
So, I have redone the partition in Bootcamp Assistant. When I try to boot to the installation disc now, it won't go. For some reason this is just not working at all.

  • Machine will not boot; hard drive makes clicking noise

My G4 will not boot up.
    Here are the symptoms:
    It passed the hardware test;
    Will not perform a safe start - so cannot run disk utility;
Hard drive makes a clicking noise.
I'd appreciate any advice about how to proceed.

    Yes, as mentioned backup now. best not to use your Mac till you do. The drive may fail for good. Here's some tips on replacing your drive (they are pretty inexpensive now);
    This is by SDMacuser,
Even if you have never installed nor pulled a HD from a Powermac...... trust me....it is not all that difficult.
I can actually switch internal HD's among 3 separate G4 Towers I own in a matter of minutes (often less than 10 minutes).
Simply power the system down and ground yourself (a grounding strap is recommended or at the very least touching the metal frame to discharge any potential static electricity prior to actually touching the HD or any internal components on your system).
Disconnect the power cable to the back of the HD, then the long ide connector on the back of the HD / cable (pull straight back while grasping the black connector with 2 fingers ... do not yank the actual ribbon cable).
All of my HD's are mounted or bolted to their own metal sleds (either single sled or a dual sled) with 4 screws.
Unscrew the small screw (philips) holding the sled in place on position one below the ide connector or cable. And gently remove the sled & HD from the Powermac without bumping / damaging other internal components.
Remove the 4 screws from the sled itself holding the HD in place. Be careful not to allow the drive to fall once all screws have been removed.
Install the new HD (and make sure to address proper jumpers on the back of the HD itself.)
Now reverse this process with new HD for proper installation into the G4 Powermac.
    Any questions just post back.
btw ... there are a few QT demos on apples web sites showing how to do this.

  • After I install itunes my windows 7 - 64 bit machine will not boot and I have to use Restore  to boot with a date before I installed itunes

After I install itunes on my windows 7 - 64 bit machine it will not reboot and I need to restore to a date before itunes was install.  How do I fix this?

I'm having a very similar issue, paired with iTunes not being able to get online.
iTunes shows up in processes and then hangs at 17,000 K or so -- sometimes it will start up, but that (if it occurs) is a delay of literal hours.
Pretty meticulously went through all the 'cannot connect' trouble shooting, and have uninstalled, restarted, and then reinstalled every piece of apple software; issue is just as firm. Starting in safe mode or admin mode don't fix it; signing in as a different user doesn't fix it.

  • Please help! - Macbook Air that failed repair disk process, will not boot

    Hello, and thanks for looking.
    A bit of background:
My Macbook air recently started working stragely post upgrade to most recent snow leopard. Symptoms: spinning beach ball when cursor went up to menu, and could not click on apple symbol. Would still run 'normally' though.
Fixed permissions and did a disk check - was advised to repair disk - and this process failed 1/2 way through. The computer then would now not boot up in safe mode or otherwise. All I can do it boot up with superdrive into OS.
Due to small windows partition (I think) I cannot simply reinstall the OS, as it gives me the message "cannot change disk - save as many files as possible and erase and install".... where the final problem begins....
All I can then access is Utilities, with my options being erase and reinstall, or to try and make an image of my Mac HD - however - cannot eject the superdrive as it is running the OS to put the drive image on my external drive.
Seems my only option is to erase the drive at this stage?? Called Apple and this was a "new problem" to them, and repair centres didnt know what to do either.
The only glimmer of hope is that if I hold "option" down when starting I can still boot into windows, but cannot save the image there either. All I can do on that screen is establish a network/internet connection.
I gather that I cannot remove the Air HDD and put it in another mac as it does not have a standard interface, but then came across the "Netbooting" feature.
Would this somehow allow me to run through remote disk the OS on another Mac? and then have connected my external drive to save my HDD image to?
    Or am I stuffed?
ANY advice would be hugely appreciated. Thanks so much.

I would suggest trying to save/repair that drive with DIskWarrior yet before having to stop here and pick up a paddle.

    Serial-CH1 Master: No Device
    can anyone help me
    thank you in advance

    Hello,
You need to enter the BIOS (press DEL at startup) and change a few settings.
    Like disable the SATA controller.
    In the BIOS, go to
    integrated peripherals
And look for something that says SATA or serial ATA controller and Disable it.
Also have you plugged in your IDE hard drives?
    Power cable too?

  • MS-6738 Micro ATX problem, machine will not boot up

I built this PC for a friend of mine with an AMD AthlonXP 2GHz processor, 256MB of Cricial DDR266 RAM, hard drive, cd-rw, floppy, and a case with a 300W power supply.  The problem is when I switch the PC on all I get is a sequence of loud beeps from the motherboard.  I was thinking the problem could be bad RAM, but I wasn't sure.  It just beeps when I start it up, no video signal at all through the built in VGA port.  Any help would be appreciated, as I e-mailed MSI a week ago and still haven't got a reply.
    Thanks,
    Steve

    Thanks for the reply,
I started with the easy fixes first, changed the sata cables, and tried different power supply connectors. Both tests had same results, still boots up on 2nd try. I did not know how soon the problem would re-occur after it has been shut down, my shortest time so far is 25 minutes.

Why only one RAID channel is enabled? Array can't be detected in that way...
Well right now, it is not even set up that way, in my #6 problem solving, it was suggested that I turn the Raid Mode off and try [IDE] to see if that made a difference,"because I don't need Raid enabled for the hardware raid". It did not, it only booted to the "Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key" window about 60 seconds faster. It is currently set up in this way.
This is how it looks in my On-Chip ATA Devices
    How do I check this?

Does the problem persist when you use Silicon RAID instead Nvidia RAID?
I am still working on getting the seagate diagnostics to work, I am getting an error message before I can even test them.
I do have another question. Why is my HP Printer showing up in the Hard drive test, and also why is it showing up in my boot sequence, is this normal?
And speaking of boot sequences I got in there again just now and saw 2 [USB:HP Photosm]
Thanks again, still working on testing hard drives.

  • X240 will not boot after latest bios update

I bought windows 8 .1 machine from factory. Then I had local shop install 8.1 on larger ssd. I just performed latest bios update and now machine will not boot. I am sure this is uefi related but I am not knowledgable in that area. The boot parameter returned to me by the shop was "legacy only" and secure boot was disabled.

Since doing the BIOS update are the settings still as you noted above?  You also didn't mention which SSD is now installed in the system.
Just as an aside, installing Windows 8.1 in legacy mode isn't exactly optimal.  Were there any particular reasons for this? Just being curious.

  • G4 Will not Boot Up after Quick Time 7.1.6 Upgrade

I upgraded the most recent Quicktime update last night and opted for System Shutdown afterward. This morning the machine will not boot up. It goes to the Apple and the swirling circle for up to a half hour - still no luck.
    Any ideas?
    iMac G4   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

Are you sure it was just the QT update? Security Update version 1.0 came out about the same time. It has since been pulled and replaced with version 1.1 following some users experiencing issues (although 1.0 worked fine for me).
Try booting into "Safe Mode" (hold down Shift during start-up) and see if it will allow you to run Software Update again.
Failing that Barry's suggestion of an A & I will undoubtedly do the trick.

  • PowerMac Will NOT Boot up

Last night my PowerMac G5 seemed like it was hung up. I had to shut it off to get it to do anything. It hasn't booted since. I went through all the diagnostic BS, verified the disk, checked the permissions, booted in verbose mode and it end up hanging when it gets to something that said something about CiscoVPN. I have Cisco VPN software loaded on the box. I have used it for months so I'm not sure why all of a sudden it is a problem. So, i brought the PC to the Apple store. Genius could not get it to boot or start in Safe mode either. TOld me to try the Archive and Install. I brought it home and did that. Now it boots but I get no icons or toolbar. I get part of the spotlight toolbar in the upper right. It is about 1/2" long. Nothing happens. Does the same thing if I start in safe mode.
Does anyone have any idea what is going on here? I am getting a little upset with my Mac. Not sure why this machine will not boot. Don't want to lug it to the Apple store again.

Well, I can't say for sure what's wrong. What I would do if it were mine...
Swap out memory chips if you can. If you have four, take out two and see what happens. If it works, one (or maybe even both, but probably not both) of the chips you took out is bad. If it doesn't work, swap out the others. If you only have two, try them in different slots.
If you have an external firewire HD that can boot your Mac, install an OS on that and see what happens. If it works, you're probably looking and a bad HD.
Since there are a lot of other components that could also have failed, there's no telling what exactly it is, but memory and HD's are the most common causes of pain.
You mentioned doing the standard troubleshooting BS - if you haven't pressed the PMU reset button or booted into open firmware mode and doing a reset, make sure you add those to the standard troubleshooting BS bag-O-tricks.
If none of the above work, I'd try backing up my important data, erasing the HD and doing a fresh install.
    Good luck,
    Jeff

  • Satellite 3000-X4 will not boot up

The machine will not boot up even in safe mode. Is this an indication that my hard drive has failed?

    Hi Susan,
when you try to boot your Sat3000, does the Toshiba logo appear?
If yes, what comes then? Only a black screen with an error message or the Windows loading logo?
    When the system chrashes exactly?
When yo want to check if your HDD is failed, create a bootdisk from www.bootdisk.info , start the Disk with a USB Floppy and try to access your HDD with typing "c:" and press enter
If you have access you can start scandisk. This tool analyses your HDD!

  • MacBook crashed during update - will not boot

My wife was using iTunes and was prompted to do seven updates on our MacBook. She was told to hold in the power button during the update, and the machine reset.
Now the machine will not boot and just accesses the CD/DVD drive over and over.
Does anyone here have any ideas?

Alright, I was able to fix it.
I had to download the Firmware Restoration image for Intel based MacBooks onto my Windows XP machine. I then used a demo of the program 'UltraISO' to burn the .dmg image.
The macbook was turned on, the disc inserted. Then the macbook was powered off, and powered back on. This time I held in the power button until the long tone and gray screen appeared.
The folks at the Apple Store had no other suggestion other than paying $183 for AppleCare. They need to spend less time telling customers how reliable Macs are and a little more time burning copies of this restoration disc!

  • Satellite A665-S6050 Windows 7 Home Premium Memory Upgrade will not boot

Hope there might be a clue to assist.
Checked Toshiba support for recommended memory to upgrade from 2X2GB to 2X4GB.  Ordered Kingston KTT-S3BS/4G x 2 as recommended.  BIOS recognizes the memory, but Windows will not boot.  Tried Safe Mode and hangs after a few seconds.  Tried Repair Computer, also hangs after a few seconds.  Put original memory back in and it boots fine.  There was a brief flash of a blue screen once, but no dump file to be found.
To me it seems as ifthe issue is Windows, but I do not know enough about this to say definitively.  Just based on the percieved behavior when Windows trys to boot (hanging).
Any ideas appreciated before I go through return and try something else.
    Thanks.

Yes he did. But he ordered the Kingston memory that Toshiba recommended as he said...
Checked Toshiba support for recommended memory to upgrade from 2X2GB to 2X4GB.  Ordered Kingston KTT-S3BS/4G x 2 as recommended.   ...   I tried both of the Kingston modules recommended and neither worked.
I'm suggesting that he try the Toshiba part number (PA3677U-1M4G) suggested in the spec, which is made by Axiom.

  • Brand New 27" iMac i5 will not boot after installing software updates

I just purchased my new iMac 2 nights ago. I have been getting it setup with my apps, mobile me account, etc, and luckily just setup time machine and let it do a full backup.
I just ran Software Update for the first time, and now the machine will not boot. It hangs on the grey screen for about 1 minute before the Apple logo comes up. About 30 seconds after the Apple logo comes up, the grey spinning gear shows up, and about 1 minute after that I get the grey screen of death (You must restart your computer).
Any suggestions? A little frustrated here....

If you mean did I receive error messages, No, I didn't. However, the desktop reverted to the default purple night-sky looking thing, my applications and such all disappeared from the dock, and I couldn't open any files or folders (you don't have permission to ...), etc. I tried signing out and back in, rebooting, using a second admin account on the computer, creating a new admin account, etc. I ran Disk Utility, hardware checker, etc. No errors were found, and nothing changed. I could see all my files and folders, but they had a small red circle in the corner, indicating "locked" or "no permission".
I'll find the lines from the console log if that will help. The error showed up immediately and is in the computer's attempt to access the user/library/application support/sync services and same path to user/library/logs/sync services/log. (or something reasonably close to this. If you can use the exact path, I will get it) The link between my settings and files, and a password is apparently corrupted or something, so that the computer won't even let me change the desktop or any file, so I can't save, edit or discard anything, and can't drag files to another computer on the home network.
At least I'm still under the 90 day warranty, so I can call tomorrow. At this point, the SMART check says the drive is good, so I assume it's software. The only things new are the three auto Apple software updates I installed yesterday, so I immediately suspect them. But who knows?
Does this help you at all?
