Bios entering problem

i ve g430 notebook. I ve got a problem while booting, no lcd, power led on. no beep codes

hi prasannavasisht,
Welcome to the Forums.
You're problem might be similar to this thread.
Things that you can try:
1. Use a flashlight to check if you can see an images on the LCD screen
 - if you're able to see something, the LCD inverter board or the LCD screen itself is most likely defective. If applicable, try to attach an external monitor and see if you can get a display.
2. If you can hear the fan running but there's No POST/Display after doing Step 1, try to reseat the RAM (if you have 2 sticks, try 1 stick first on each of the RAM slots and observe). if same problem, an internal PC component is most likely defective and you need to contact lenovo or a local repair shop for service.
Regards,
neokenchi

  • FYI: MS-7125 BIOS has problem with Hard Drives withNative Command Queuing (NCQ)

For those the have messed my two treads on which both ended up being cause by K8N Neo4 BIOS problem with HD's with NCQ.
Will wonders never cease? MSI Support finally conceded the BIOS has a problem with Hard Drives with NCQ and they have forwarded the problem to their programming department.
However, do not look for any results for above two weeks.
    Roger

The problem that this thread has been trying to follow is the incapability of the nVidia RAID Controller with Serial ATA Type 2.5 drives.  I know the threads has been hard to follow and part of that is because when I started the thread I had what appeared to be three totally un related problems, but all three were traced down the common problem of the incapability of RAID Controller with Serial ATA Type 2.5 drives.
The title of this thread is MS-7125 BIOS has problem with Hard Drives with Native Command Queuing(NCQ).  The statement was true at the time it was written and has nothing to do with memory problems.
Sense the thread was started MSI has fixed the BIOS part of the problem, but we have sense learned the nVidia RAID Controller Command software and its driver has problems too.  I have been working MSI Support, they have been using me to test pre-beta BIOS and Drivers soon.   Of the testing I have done the pre-beta BIOS worked and the Pre-beta 32-bit driver works.  I am assuming that the latest BIOS V1.B had as part of it included fixes was the needed fixes for working with the nVidia RAID Controller as I have test the pre-beta RAID Driver with BIOS Version V1.B as the Raid array function fine windows XP Pro 32-bit Edition.  As I have had no communications with MSI support of over a week now I am hoping for a release of 32-bit and 64-bit RAID Drivers.   But, nobody should get the hopes up, because through other backdoor sources nVidia is having a hell of a time.  One reason for this I heard is that the nVidia RAID Controller is fully software, no hardware other than the electrical drive interfaces.  Their problem started when they tried using the old 32-bit code Controller with new 64-bit hardware drivers and now they are having to totally rewrite the controller core in 64-bit code.  But, knowing my source, it may all be fiction.
The RAID Array you say is up and running, are the drives full specification SATA 2.5 in other words do the both have 3Gb/s speed and NCQ.  If you send me the full part numbers I will check the specifications a get back to you.  Because if you have nVidia RAID 0 Array you working you will be the first to have done it and there about 230 people around the world that would like to know how you did it, even MSI, who's pre-beta nVidia RAID Drivers that will work with BIOS V1.B for 32-bit Windows only and nothing for Windows XP 64, would like to know.

Windows 8.x does not shut down completely by default. (It hibernates the Windows kernel instead.) But you need it to do so in order to reach the UEFI (BIOS) on boot.
You can shut down completely by holding down the Shift key when you click Shut down.
When you Restart Windows, it shuts down completely.
This shortcut will shut down completely.
       shutdown /s /t 0
    This shortcut will restart Windows.
       shutdown /r /t 0
You can access the UEFI directly from Windows this way.
Settings > Power > Shift + Restart > Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > UEFI Firmware Settings

    Hi buddy,
You should check the forum content or with other words, use the forum search firstly before you ask something. Failed BIOS update is not unusual and can happen always. The forum contains already a lot threads about this and the only solution is contacting an ASP. The guys have professional tools to recover it.

  • Thinkpad Yoga BIOS Update Problem after installing Windows 10

Hi all, I've been reading tonnes of threads here trying to solve my problems (which seem to keep getting worse) to no avail. I'm reaching out to anyone that can suggest some help before I end up bricking my yoga by accident or running it over on purpose. I'll give you a timeline of the events. The machine in question is a Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga 12.5" 20CD-0032USIntel Core i5 4200U 1.60GHz Processor4GB Ram128GB SSDWindows 8.1 64 Bit preloaded (recently upgraded to Windows 10) So the saga begun just a short two days ago. I had some spare time at home and decided to download and install my free upgrade to Windows 10. I backed up all of my important documents etc to OneDrive as I intended on performing a clean install. Said clean install went flawlessly with Windows 10 installing the first time with no issues or errors. Since I had performed a clean install, all my previous apps, including the stock Lenovo apps, had been deleted. I had anticipated this and only really desired to reinstall the app that automatically adjusts the screen orientation when folding the cover back. So in an effort to find this app and any Windows 10 related updates that may be available I went to support.lenovo.com and used the handy Lenovo Bridge app to automatically detect my hardware and suggest relevant updates. While combing through the suggested software I noticed a BIOS update that noted added support for Windows 10. How great, I thought, that Lenovo would have a BIOS update ready so quickly once 10 became ready for mass consumption. I went ahead and downloaded the exe version (not the bootable CD due to the lack of CD drive on the Yoga) and ran the BIOS update. As I ran the update the laptop was plugged in, and no errors were presented, a success message appeared and indicated a reboot was necessary, after a couple seconds the system rebooted itself. Enter nightmare level 1. As soon as the system rebooted, I fired up IE about to look for more updates and......BSOD stating that there was and issue with a driver, after another reboot BSOD again with a completely different file name stating driver file missing or corrupt. Sorry I didn't write any of the file names or errors down. At this point I'm thinking that something is not jiving here between the BIOS and OS. So I tried running repair, and recovery and each time I would end up with a BSOD of some design. It was at this point I made a USB with the Windows 10 x64 ISO from Microsoft in an attempt to run the repair utilities from the USB. Again to no avail. Enter nightmare level 2 After attempting multiple tries at recovering Windows 10 and getting multiple BSOD's through the process I decided to use my Windows 10 USB to simply reformat my hard drive to eliminate any traces of my now apparently corrupt OS and do a fresh install of Windows 10. This appears to have been a significant error on my part. Now I have no OS (BIOS is still intact so at least I think I have a not-bricked motherboard) and everytime I try to boot Windows 10, or 8.1 for that matter, from a brand new USB stick I get constant BSOD's.Sometimes I get as far as the Preparing installation files 22% but am interrupted by a BSOD error at some point. So I am pleading for some help here. To me it seems like the BIOS update was the issue. I was not smart enough to have checked the BIOS version before updating so that I would know what to roll back to safely. What would you all recommend for a rollback and how do I go about doing one with no OS on the machine. I know I'm asking for a tl;dr here but appreciate any advice offered. I really dont want to get to nightmare level 3, which I guess would be a bricked laptop and a bill for a new motherboard or laptop. The BIOS I currently have is GQET45WW (1.25) -Garrett

Thanks for the reply ColonelONeill, It turns out that Lenovo uses an obscure PERL disk image called "eltorito". As such the directions in the link you provided did not work as most common tools (WinZip, 7zip, and WinRAR) cannot extract the image file from an eltorito iso file.  I instead just bucked up for a $50.00 Asus USB CD drive and burned the iso for version 1.25 and 1.24 onto discs. I then disabled the setting in the BIOS that prevents rolling back to a previous version and flashed to 1.24 from the disc. While this appeared to go successfully, as soon as I tried to boot from my Windows 8.1 CD I start receiving BSOD's again during installation. I then used the CD with 1.25 to go back to where I was in case it was simply a bad BIOS update at the time. Most of the BSOD's are driver related (qlfcoei.sys) which I don't understand since there is no OS other than what is on the bootable CD (or USB I've tried both) Is there anyone with a stable install of Win 8.1 x64 or 10 x64 running on a 20CD0032US that can tell me what version of BIOS they are running? My next step is to go back to a version that someone else can verify is working. Thanks again for any help.

  • Bios liveupdate problems

Hi everyone, hope that i can get some good info here!
I just installed my m/b and get some very strange messages on startup.
I have to check these messages exactly tonight and will get back to you, but this is as close as i can remember:
    1) after the "CoreCell: Extreme Chip you've been needing" screen, I get "No devices detected, Bios not installed"
    2) Next screen: I assume this is scanning for SATA drives, i have none connected to that part of the motherboard (yet) so it says Device 0: no device, Device 1: no device. (or something close to that)
    3) Windows will then load as normal.
    additional:
    - between 1 & 2 I sometimes (not always) get a RealTek Gigabyte controller scanning, press Shift-F10 to configure.
    - I can press delete anytime at 1 or 2 and get to the Bios.
    - I am yet to see the "normal" startup screen, ie. Press delete to enter setup, etc other options as described in the Manual.
Next: I thought, maybe it's the Bios version, so I ran LiveUpdate, which says Hurrah, I have a new bios for you. I cheer and download it and install it, restart, and everything is exactly the same, run LiveUpdate again, and it still says I need to install the same new Bios!
OK, that's about all right now, I'm at work not with the computer but I'll be able to check details of things in a few hours :D
    thanks for any help!

I have a Chipmax 2 of EETOOLS, so i can reflash the w25q64fvsig chip whit the bios file (*.bin or *.fd) but the files i got from HP.com doesnt work (01961.bin and 01966.bin) , i think it must be encripted, decripted or assemble with some algorithm, because i have 2 pairs of files, (01961.bin & 01961.s12) and (01966.bin & 01966.s12)
The question is: how i get the *.bin for reflash the chip w25q64fvsig through these combination of files? Can any one solve this little problem?

  • GT680R Bios update problem

    Hello
I have a MSI GT680R notebook (Raid 0, 1 TB model). I tried to update the bios to the version 3.0K.
And I followed the instructions from MSI site (http://www.msi.com/product/nb/GT680.html#Download).
I use the 16f2_30k.zip file because my notebook is raid 0 model.
when bios was updating i saw:
    erasing flash.........done
    writing flash.........done
    verifying flash.......done
And after waiting 5 minutes, screen was showing all status as done.
I power off the machine by pressing power button about 5 second. And I removed the battery pack and AC power. After
I waited 10 minutes i plugged in AC adapter as instructions said.
When I started the notebook, notebook did not start. Fan is starting but led status indicators and
    screen doesn't turn on.
    There is a blank screen.
I wonder is there any way to recover the bios?
UPDATE: I tried to recovery bios with using 3.0K bios. I write the bios file to the cd as .ROM file and try to open notebook but nothing happened.
There is a new bios (3.0M) and the description says "Modify bios recovery setting & fix can't use 4MB rom issue."
Could you explain me how to do bios recovery with using new bios file step by step, please?
    Thank you.
PS: I can't remember the first bios version.
I called the msi guys in my country but they were not very helpful on the phone. They just said send notebook to us. So, any advice would be appreciated.
    Sorry about my english.

Hello AsheshKumar, Some of the HP system fans will run at a higher speed until Windows loads. This is normal for these particular systems.
The error page you listed just shows the system detected a change in the BIOS and is letting you know this. You were offered the option let the system continue. You could have pressed F-1 and entered the BIOS, saved the settings and exited and most likely would not have seen the error message any more.
Can you advise if the system continued and is working normally now without the message.
Normally, the startup screen you posted is replaced by the HP Logo screen by default and you would never see the screen with all the bootup activity messages.

  • Lenovo G570 Bios Update Problem

    Hello All,
I am new to this forum and before i ask my question sorry about my poor English.
I downloaded latest official bios from the lenovo support page for my laptop. The file name is InsydeFlasha_x64(v2.09).exe I followed all instructions written in the file which is shown in the support page. I right click on the file and run as administrator it checked the bios versions and asked me if i am sure to write new bios with some warnings such as not to shutdown and no unplug etc. I clicked ok and it started to flash and i can see the progress bar, after progress bar is full it asked me if i want to flash EC bios too. I just clicked OK and it just freezed. After around 20 mins it's still freezed and the fan is on with full speed. Then I pressed on power more than 4 seconds and nothing happened. Mouse didn't move, keyboard didn't work. I closed the lid i even closed the lid, it didn't off the leds too. So I unplugged the power and then battery and it shutdown. After plugging the battery i run the laptop and press F2 to enter setup. I saw that bios is 40CN23WW(v2.09)  and EC Bios is 40EC05WW(v2.04). Beside all those the serial number is INVALID, model name is INVALID and something like in the miedle is FFF-FFFFFFF-FFF and so on...
I don't understand what I did wrong. Did it happen to anyone? How can i correct this? The laptop seems ok now working but the bios is the same above i wrote. all is INVALID. Hope anyone can help me?
    Thank you all.

    Hello yigit,
I'll contact to Lenovo technical service for this issue. But before contacting i would like to let you know that I found official 40CN22WW(1.09) bios for G470/G570 from China support page and i flashed bios with that version. It flashed the BIOS but same problem happened when it comes to EC. When i clicked on OK for flashing EC it freezed and nothing move so around 10 mins later i had to reset laptop by unplugging the battery. But when i enter the setup i saw that all INVALID gone and the correct values are there. So i can see model, uid and serial number in BIOS now. But the EC is same old one which i typed in 1st post.
    When i saw this i wanted to flash BIOS with official 2.09 version. It flashed the BIOS and came to EC flashing. This time it become different. After flashing BIOS it asked me to flash EC, and i clicked on OK, after clicking OK around 6-7 seconds later this appeared;
    IHIS:EC write error in SMI!
and after this one it reset the laptop by itself, i checked in the BIOS and the serial, model changed to INVALID again but BIOS version is 2.09 and EC is 2.04. So I reflashed the BIOS with 1.09 and now in BIOS no more INVALID but EC is still 2.04. I don't know maybe this version has an EC protection or something like that. Or maybe my laptop BIOS or EC is corrupted. I wanted to flash my BIOS at 1st just because of those fan noise with almost 100% speed. Even the temperature is 45 the fan runs like F1 race car I'll take this with this BIOS now and when i go to Adana where I bought this laptop I'll ask for technical help there. Beside all those except FAN runs too fast, there is no problem on laptop everything works fine. But i noticed that boot time is faster with this 1.09 bios, i don't know maybe this is a coincidence.
Thank you for your interest and replies.

  • P67A-GD55 (B3) Bios flash problem

    Hello!
First of all sorry if this post exists but i havent so far found one and ive searched for 2 days.
Well something happened during the flashing of my motherboard and no when i power on the pc i get an error message saying "Disk read error occurred"
i downloaded the latest version of bios from msi (V4.3) it says i have version 1.J0 when i boot with the usb stick.
when i run the flash from my usb it says "Error: Problem allocating memory" then "Successful" but the bios ver is still 1.J0
So then i tried a Cmos reset and same problem..
it has been working fine up until this point, Does anyone know what went wrong or how to fix this?

Please, give us some détails about your PC : processor, HD ...
If you have a sandy bridge processor, you can stay with 1.J bios.
If you have an ivy bidge processor, you must have 4.30 bios.
I advise you tu use MSI Forum HQ USB Flashing Tool : https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=116721.0
And you create a bootable USB with it.
Use "Method 1: Processing a BIOS Archive Directly (ZIP/RAR)"
With an archive (last one "4.3"), downloadable here : https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=164135.0
If you want to stay with 1.J bios, you must ask a special archive to an admin.
After bios update, dont forget to clear CMOS and enter in the bios parameters by SUPPR (4.3 bios) or F2 (1.J).
Don't forget to put your system disk in first position for the boot.

I've tried, the wincris method to solve the problem, but i dont know the key combination to acces the bios in recovery mode. I've tried to remove the CMOS battery too, but nothing happened. Please help me! Thanks a lot

    When i saw this i wanted to flash BIOS with official 2.09 version. It flashed the BIOS and came to EC flashing. This time it become different. After flashing BIOS it asked me to flash EC, and i clicked on OK, after clicking OK around 6-7 seconds later this appeared;

  • BIOS upgarde problem

Hi, I have an X79A-GD65-8D mainboard which I just updated to BIOS 1.8 from v1.7.  All i get no is a blank screen with a flashing cursor.  I can enter bios and all seems ok, but I can't boot.  Could any one help with this?

Double check your boot order and the SATA controller Modes. As long as it will enter UEFI/BIOS and POST, the problem is possibly a setting or a HDD/SSD has gone faulty. Perform a battery removed CMOS clear.
Added: For the benefit of others that read this thread, do not, repeat, do not flash both chips until you have confirmed and established the flash is 100% successful and the results are as expected. The second chip is your safety net if it all goes bad.
