Bios Error/USB error Lenovo N100 3000

Hey Guys,
Seems I'm just having bad luck with computers this week.  I have a Lenovo 3000 N100 Series Laptop that I believe did a rollback on the original BIOS version.   I've tried to find the error/solution online to no avail but here goes.
The computer currently only starts up and performs a self test and states the following error
Keyboard Initialized....
Mouse failed to Initialize...
Error 0701: USB Over Current On HC/Port - Bus:00H Dev :1DH Fun:01H / Port:00H
Error 0701: USB Over Current On HC/Port - Bus:00H Dev :1DH Fun:02H / Port:00H
Press F1 For Setup, Press F12 For Boot Device Selection Menu
Well, F1 takes me into the Bios, all looks well. It says to enter System Settings press F1 and you can review the bios/boot sequence etc. And F12 Does nothing.
The current BIOS (63ET62WW) should be on Version 3.11 for Windows Vista Home Edition but currently only shows the original 1.08 version.
I am also unable to enter my startup recovery "program" via the Lenovo Care partition to just do a system recover or repair.  I don't even have the options to start up in Safe Mode, Safe Mode with Networking, Safe Mode with Command Prompt, Last Known good Configuration, or  Start windows normally.
What I speculate is that I should be able to "flash" the bios (i know very little about computers and am worried i might kill the system).  Unfortunately Lenovo's website has an executable file that is the Bios Update Utility that runs in windows.  Obviously since I can't get to the desktop this program is rendered useless.  I looked around the net to see if I could extract the files and put them on a boot cd.  (Don't know if thats even possible)  Another thing to note is there are alot of files that I extracted and am unsure which are essential vs. only for the update utility tool.
This is the link for my specific device as something to reference
[code]http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-67008.html[/code]
On the website the most recent Version of the bios 3.12 is for XP only just as a heads up so i scrolled to the bottom to see previous bios updates...
Thanks in advance for your help.

My message says after booting:
Mouse initialized.
ERROR
0701: USB Over Current On HC/Port - Bus:00H Dev: 1DH Fun:01H / Port:00H
ERROR
0701: USB Over Current On HC/Port - Bus:00H Dev: 1DH Fun:02H / Port:00H
Press F1 for setup (which works and takes me to Bios version 1.08
Press F12 for boot devices (nothing happens)
Also pressing the Lenovo button does not work.
I had a tamper virus which took a hold of my computer and applications. I tried to do a restore from the Lenovo Care and this is the message I now get. I may have had a USB pen drive plugged in when this re-store took place.
I've tried booting from the XP windows disc but the cd drive doesn't kick all the way in.
How can I get my computer back????
Plse help

  • Frequent Shutdown of Lenovo n100 3000 laptop

    Hi,
I have had a lenovo 3000 N100 for the last 3 years. For the first year it worked pretty well, but since the last year it seems to shutdown frequently on its own. Just before it shuts down I can hear the fan whirring furiously. It seems its a heating problem but I could be wrong. I was wondering if others also faced something similar and if there is a solution to this?
    Thanks for your help.
    Regards

    Turn your laptop over.
    Remove the battery.
Remove the cover over the CPU heatsink/fan. (upper right)
Blow out any dust/debris with compressed air.
Dust builds up in the fins of the heatsink, and may cause overheating.

  • Network Controller for Lenovo N100 3000 0768-EJU running XP PRO

I am sorry to bug people with this but I am SO frustrated with this.  I have tried everything I can including what I think to have been to load all drivers from the support site.  I cannot get my networking to work and keep getting the message that the network controller is not installed.  I cannot find the drivers to satisfy this thing and get my networking going.  Can someone possibly tell me exactly what to do to solve this and show me the exact driver I need.
    I sure would appreciate it!
Thanks in advance for being there to help me!

Hi.  I'm having the same problem with mine - only mine is an 0768 -4ju.  I installed ubuntu 10.4, so that it double boots and am able to access the wireless without a problem as long as I am in ubuntu.  but windows refuses to recognize many of my drivers that it needs,  even though i have done everything to install them.
lenovo wanted the power management app installed to test my battery, which it now says is not installed - go figure.
I can give you the links and info on how to do it.
I basically installed it within windows to get it to work.
    Hope this helps.

To determine current bios version, enter bios setup

    Look for bios version.
    Newest XP version is 2.06

  • My Lenovo n200 3000 power on problems..plese read more for full error story.

My lenovo n200 3000 on switches on when i press the power button wait for the windows sign to appear. it then shuts down. then i press the button again and select start windows normally. i have to do this 3 times every time i switch on my laptop on!!! please help this is very annoying.

This one looks like a hardware/software conflict. Go to service or you can try to do something yourself.
    I can give these advises:
It can be software problem, so you can do this:
    1. You can restore your OS with last saved (fully working and starting) restore point.
    OR
    2. You can try to start Windows in SafeMode and: 1) try to find coflict driver in My Comp>properties>device manager (look for yellow "!"); 2) try to delete all lately installed drivers.
    OR
    3. You can reinstall Windows in "clean" install. I mean with disk format.
OR it may be hardware problem, so you should do this:
    1. It may be problem with power.
        Solution:
           - Try to start laptop without battery. Just with AC-adapter.
           - Try to start laptop just with battery.
    2. Maybe some detailes get out from slots.
           - You should open laptop and check every detail (hdd, ram etc). Get them out clen it and than put them in.
N.B. In my desktop PC such thing was because of "Microsoft UAA High Definition Audio driver". It conflicted with my video. Also in my old laptop it was because my lcd was not fully plugged in.
If nothing of these solve the problem go to the service.

  • T431s - Can't update BIOS - WINUPTP.exe "Error code = 183"

Tried to update the BIOS on a new T431s. Downloaded the latest BIOS flash utility from Lenovo's support site, everything extracts fine, but once the flash utility starts and attempts to flash the BIOS it gets an error and re-attempts it (3 times), before giving me an error message: "Failed to Microcode update. The utility process has not completed.".
Looking at the log file shows an "Error code = 183" after each attempt.
The existing BIOS is ver. 1.04, and version I'm trying to update to is 1.06.
The ISO image for the BIOS update seems like a nogo since this machine doesn't have an optical disc drive. Unless there's some way to copy the [BOOT] partition on the iso to a USB drive.
    Solved!

    hi all
thanks for posting. Was reading through this thread and to be honest I'm not sure why you're receiving the error message when updating the BIOS. I will have to consult the team first to see if anything went wrong. In the mean time could you try updating the BIOS downloading the BIOS from the link below to see if you still face the same error message.

  • Windows 8 Recovery USB causes UEFI error: "Grub error: Can't find gpt 7" [FIXED]

    Hello everyone,
Here is my situation.  I had a dual boot setup on my toshiba S855D (Win 8/Ubuntu 12.10).  After a few months my win 8 install was giving me strange errors.  I decided to do a full reinstall using the recovery USB I made. (I had reinstalled once before)  When I plugged in my USB after restarting the computer (in USB as first boot), I got the error: 'Grub error. Can't find gpt 7' If I tuned off UEFI, the computer could at least detect the USB but not do a reinstall.  Thinking it was a Grub error I formatted the HD (using an ubuntu liveUSB).  The problem persisted. I installed boot-repair on ubuntu and tried that, but no effect.  I have tried to install an updated bios from the CD image in the bios zip, but it wouldn't execute the commands in the ini file.  I even tried to install an old xp disk I had to see if I could install the bios update that way, but the windows install  repeatedly froze.
Quick version: dual boot (win8/ubuntu)->try to reinstall win8, "error: Grub Error: Can't find gpt 7", when usb is attempted to be booted from. ->Wiped hdd, but problem persisted. -> tried many ways to fix, but nothing works.
I have been reading many forums for the past few days, and nothing looks to work.  Any and all help would be really helpful.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    I finally got it!
After much poking around the internet, I was finally able to identify my problem.  My bootx64.efi in the EFI/Boot folder wasn't working.  I found this out by putting UEFI shell on another usb and using that to test my *.uefi files.  Thankfully, I had a backup of my EFI folder from my initial Ubuntu install.  This had a backup made my ubuntu. (bkpbootx64.uefi) I ran the backup and the USB worked!
On another forum someone (Agent268) said this, which may help.  I'm guessing you need to have a windows pe DVD/USB to make this work though.
"You should be able to use DISM to manually reimage this bad boy using the WIM or SWMs on that USB recovery flash drive."
Hope my research helps someone out there.  Cheers to everyone who looked.

  • NI 845x USB: Error -301713 occurred at Property Node (arg 2) in General I2C Read.vi

    Hello,
I am currently working  with digital accelerometer LIS35DE from ST Microelectronics. I want to start with tests of this device. For that purpose I used NI 845x USB to connect with accelerometer via I2C. Unfortunately, when I made electrical connections and set up parameters of communication and run the program (I found it in examples) the following error occured:
Error -301713 occurred at Property Node (arg 2) in General I2C Read.vi
    Possible reason(s):
NI-845x:  An input parameter, or combination of parameters, is invalid. An example of this error may be setting an invalid baud rate or enabling I2C ACK polling while using 10-bit addressing.
The code can be found in attachements. I couldn't find any extended description of this problem. What could be a problem: incorrect device address, register address, configuration parameters?
    Any help is appreciated!
    Best regards,
    Michael

    Hi MicMac89!
First of all could you please post which version of LabView are you using?
Could you please tell me which version of 845X hw are you using? (8451 or 8452)
I opened the example you attached. As you wrote the error occurs at the second argument of the property node. (I guess this is the first property node where the error occurs.)
This argument of the property node enables the onboard pull-up resistors. But not all NI-845x hardware support pull-up resistors. (Because of this is important to know which hw version are you using.)
Did you try the example with disabling the pull-up resistors?
I suggest you to go through the Manual of this product, (if you did this not yet) This could make it clear where and when to use what kind of pull-up resistors.
For example: If you are using 8452, you must enable pull-up resistors, for Vref ≤ 1.8 V for the FPGA to properly detect a low-to-high transition
    Manual: http://www.ni.com/pdf/manuals/371746d.pdf
    HW specification: http://www.ni.com/pdf/manuals/290598a.pdf
Please post if my suggestions helped. Of course if you have any questions, don't hesitate to post them.

  • USB Errors while trying to install 64 bit Arch

I'm trying to install Arch onto some brand new hardware. I am installing using the Arch Netboot environment.
When I try to install 64 bit Arch, I get the following errors straight after archiso.img is downloaded and the kernel is booted:
    usb 2-5: device descriptor read/64, error -32
    usb 2-5: device descriptor read/64, error -32
    usb 2-5: device descriptor read/64, error -32
    usb 2-5: device descriptor read/64, error -32
usb 2-5: device not accepting address 4, error -32
usb 2-5: device not accepting address 5, error -32
hub 2-0:1.0: unable to enumerate USB device on port 5
The same lines appear for usb 4-1, 6-5 and 7-1. The only USB device that is plugged in is the USB key that I booted ipxe.lkrn from.
Googling seems to point to a kernel module that needs to be loaded earlier or a faulty USB controller. I do not know how to change what kernel modules are used during installation, and I'm fairly certain the USB controllers are fine. Its a brand new motherboard and I can access my USB key fine (I can boot from it) in any of the available USB ports.
I was close to giving up until for some reason I decided to try and install the 32 bit version of Arch instead. This worked as expected and I am sent to the archiso installation prompt without seeing any of the same USB errors.
Can someone please assist me with this? I would really prefer to have the 64 bit version installed.

    https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=158206
This seems to be related, although my errors are giving error -32 instead of -110.
Is there a way I can force the installation environment to use kernel 3.7.6? Does the 32 bit installer use a different kernel to the 64 bit installer?
Is there a way I can use the 32 bit installation environment to install 64 bit as well as the 3.7.6 kernel?

  • W500 not starting - HELP - unable to locate BIOS ROM; Fatal error during GPU init

    hi gurus,
    Following problem:
when i start W500 (ubuntu) it stays with the black screen, not even displaying initial ThinkPad message, where you might press the ThinkVantage blue button, to go to BIOS. It just stays black and does nothing.
Than I press Power button for a few seconds to shut it down and try again. Still black screen.
The same procedure again and again and sometimes  W500 boots up, sometimes wants to go to recovery mode, sometimes not.
Sometimes, after the black screen it displays the message:
    Invalid ROM contents
ERROR Unable to locate BIOS ROM
    Fatal error during GPU init
    Anyone had the same problems?
What are the possible checks i might execute, to check up W500?
    cheers

Update: I have now tried compiling vbios.bin and int10.bin directly into the kernel. No success.

    Dear Sir,

    Errors compiling:C:\temp\docroot\3000\default\defaultWebApp\persistence\_pages\\_RC_2g_000405352.java
    How can i solve this?
Pls help me on this issue..
    Thanks

Ahhh after experimenting I realized what happened:
1.) The search does not look for words in the Title (only looks in the Body)
2.) The search does not look for occurances of words if they appear anywhere in the doc but rather only for exact phrase.
So for the doc you gave me (http://forums.oracle.com/forums/message.jsp?id=767439) here is a test:
[Search phrase] [did the doc come up?] [comment]
[oc4j doesn't compile JSPs with JDK 1.4?] [no] [the doc title]
[JSPs shipped with oc4j] [yes] [exact phrase in body]
[JSPs shipped oc4j] [no] [words in body but not exact phrase]
OK I have way to much time on my hands I see -- he he ... but I'm just putting this info out (respectfully of course) just so the forum owner will have the info so maybe he/she might want to change way search is done (add title, etc).

  • Error: USB Headset not recognized

HP Pavilion dv7 Notebook PC  WV703AV
    OS: Windows 7 Home Premium - 64bytes
Error: No error... just not working
Hello, I just bought an USB headset SOMIC and after plugging it to the PC I realize it wasn't working. At the beginning I got mad thinking that it was about the headset, however after testing it in several computers with different Operative Systems(windows 7 x64, windows XP x32 & x64) I realize that actually they worked perfectly... so whats is coming on with my PC? - I thought.
I tried by doing the following:
1st - Changing it of USB Port - I tried the 4 of them.
2nd - Updating the sound Drivers.
        3rd - Installing the Headset's drivers.
4th - Downloading & Reinstalling the sound drivers.
5th - Disabling the computers drivers in order to only use the headset's drivers.
I am getting so angry that I am planning to reinstall my OS, however before doing it I would like to know if you could help me in this matter . It is clear that it is ABOUT THE USB CONDITION OF THE HEADSET as I have others with normal connectors and they work perfectly. Moreover, I JUST REALIZE that AUDIO BEATS monitor the sound settings and it has NO USB CONNECTOR COMPATIBILITY (only HDMI or NORMAL MALE CONNECTORS).
So I tried disabling/uninstalling HP BEATS however it doesn't appear anywhere. Now I dont know what can I do to sort out this issue I am having please help me before I burned my PC . Pleasee I really need your help.
I look forward to hearing from you, thanks in advance.
    Santiago.
