BIOS flash for Satellite A20-S103 needed

Hello,
I need a BIOS flash for a Toshiba Satellite A20-S103 notebook. I already downloaded the one on the download site.
But this one i can not use because i need windows to be installed. And that is just the problem.
I can not install windows because the BIOS is not fully ACPI compliant.
The BIOS version on the laptop is V1.10.
To update i need a dos version to flash the bios.
Is it possible to get a bios update which is written for dos?
Thanks a lot,
Jean

i did Have same problem. found nice resolve on it
Satellite A200 (PSAE2), all partitions killed (include hidden) so i can't use BIOS (windows based) update :-(((
aim = win XP SP2
steps:
1) Win XP disk in CD, scsi drivers ICH8M_32bit on USB FDD (Mitsumi btw) attached to notebook.
2) booting from CD. F6. When windows installator found ICH8M_32bit drivers. I am creating disk C: (NTFS)
3) He begins to copy temp installations files. During this procedure it says what it couldn't copy all files from usb FDD to HDD. It says to me what i will have problems in sucesfully complete installation. In spite of that installator succesfully transfering windows files onto C:
4) First planned reboot. I see blue death screen. End? Not so soon!
5) i have begin new installation. Again give to installator ICH8M_32bit drivers from usb fdd disc.
6) i choosed "leave current NTFS on C: without changes".
7) This time all drivers from fdd disk has been transfered succesfully.
8) After reboot installation of Win XP completed succesfully!!!

  • Satellite A20-S103: LAN cable disconnected

    hi
i cannot get access to my LAN or internet.
I'm using a Satellite A20-S103 with a Realtek RTL8139/810x Family Fast Ethernet NIC.
When I connect the Lan cable to the LAN port, appears the message "LAN cable disconnected".
The same message appears using de ConfigFree-Connectivity Doctor.
I changed several cables, used cables that worked on others computers and the message still there and no access to the router/modem.
The LEDs near the LAN port are not lightning (neither orange or green, none)
I have already read the posts here in the forum (and in others forums) and i cannot make the ethernet card work.
Do you think the problem is with the card or the OS.
    Can you help me?
    Sorry for my English

Check firstly if the LAN card was recognized in the device manager.
Under Network Adapters you should see the LAN card.
If there is an yellow exclamation mark near the LAN card then either the driver was not installed correctly or there is another serious error.
In first case I would recommend removing the LAN card from the device manager and after new reboot you should try to reinstall the driver downloaded from the Toshiba page!
Furthermore you should set the TCP/IP settings to automatic because the router assigns the IP address automatically.
Please check this and report the results
    Good luck

  • Satellite a20 s103 wifi problem

    Hi!
I have inserted a MSI mp54g2 mini pci wifi card into my Toshiba Satellite a20 s103 computer and it doesn't work properly. The signal level is very low, though i have been testing it in the same room where was my AP (dlink dl-624+). I found, that there are 2 cables inside the computer (brown and white) and two slots on the wifi card (aux and main). I do not know how I should connect them, yet I have tried all the combinations and none of them changed the signal level. I found also, that even if the antena is not connected at all, the signal level is the same.
Can anybody help me with this one??!!
    Please help me!!!
    THX :)

    Hi Horwath!!
    THX for a fast reply!
I connected the cables as you advised, but I'm afraid it didn't change anything. The signal level maintains at very low level, though I'm in the same room where my AP is :(
I have heard that some problems may occur, as my AP is from US and I have bought my computer in Poland, but I have tested the AP with a another notebook bought also in Poland and it worked fine!
At least I know now how to connect the cables :) Guys from shop didn't have a clue how to do it :)
    So BIG THANX for that!!

  • Satellite A20-S103 - how to find VGA driver?

    Hi people
I am using WXP, I could not find VGA driver for my laptop. I know it uses trident cyberaladdin but I could not find its driver.
How can I find it? Thanks.

    Hello
It is really strange you cannot find it. I found it in 1 minute only.
You will find it on Toshiba support and download page under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com Support & Downloads.
In Product type choose option ARCHIVE.
You will find display driver for your Satellite A20-s103 (PSA20E). It is Trident version 6.14.01.0010.

  • BIOS flash for KT4-Ultra FISR

    Hi
I have a question about BIOS flashing for the KT4-Ultra FISR board.  I currently have version 1.1 of the BIOS and was told that I need at least 1.2 to recognize my AthlonXP 2500+ correctly. (It currently shows as a 1.1Ghz athlon with the FSB set to 100MHz * 11 multiplier)
Is it worth moving up to 1.3 or 1.4 instead of just 1.2?
    Thanks
    KT4-Ultra FISR (MS6590 v1.1)
    AthlonXP 2500+ (barton)
    Zalman Copper flower heatsink
    512 MB DDR333 RAM
    Powercolor Radeon 9700 Pro
Antec Soho 1080 case (430W truepower supply)

I would have to guess BIOS may make a difference. Although XP2200+ and XP2500+ Barton both run at 1.83GHz, the BIOS may be confused as to the processor type if the Barton was released after the initial BIOS version. Only 2700+ and 2800+ were 333 FSB at the time of BIOS release maybe... then again, I am a useless tech... just a guess is all I have to offer.

  • 1.90 BIOS Update for Satellite A215-S7437 doesnt work

I tried updating to the latest BIOS 1.90 on my Satellite A215-S7437 laptop but i found out that it froze at saying it was reading Old Bios, i let it sit still for 2 hours and then i did a hard shutdown. Then rebooted laptop, thankfully i did not bricked it had i done so my motherboard would be useless or would it?  My knowledge about BIOSes is limited but i do know something didnt go right.  Well only reason i was updating was because i saw that it added compatibility with Windows 7 and i plan to get Windows 7.  So is it worth the risk or would i be fine installing Windows 7 without the latest update which introduces 2.1 slic.
Also is there a way to check if my old bios didnt get affected, i mean i know laptop is working right now but who knows. If my Bios ever gets bricked what would i do to fix it?
BTW this is the update that i found not to work for me. Even though its for my model of laptop.
ACPI Flash BIOS version 1.90 for Satellite A215 (PSAFGU/PSAFHU)
    http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/modelContent.jsp?ct=DL&os=&category=&moid=185272...

If it's working correctly your old bios wasn't affected.  Since if froze while READING the bios it hadn't had time to actually write any new information yet.  That is what saved you.  If it had frozen while WRITING the new data it would have required sending it in to Toshiba for a repair.  If you decide to update the bios again you need to read the instructions for flashing From the bootable BIOS installation CD-ROM.  That is a MUCH safer way to accomplish this.  ALso make sure you are running on AC power.  NEVER FLASH WHILE ON BATTERY POWER although you do want the battery installed.
I wouldn't update it unless you have to.  Wait to see if Windows 7 is NOT able to install or activate.  This is especially true if your system is out of warranty as you'll have to pay to get it fixed.
If you don't post your COMPLETE model number it's very difficult to assist you. Please try to post in complete sentences with punctuation, capitals, and correct spelling. Toshiba does NOT provide any direct support in these forums. All support is User to User in their spare time.

I want to update the bios of my Satellite A100-SP2022 (PSAA5U-02G00G) with windows XP SP2 Spanish, because Im installing windows Vista (dual boot XP/Vista).
The question is, if this BIOS file is correct for update in my notebook?

I have download the file of Toshiba USA website, because my model doesn't exist in the Toshibas supports sites, but exist similar models (example: Satellite A105-S2194 - USA model - ).
    Thanks,
    Jon

    Hi Jon
According the notebook description you must be from Venezuela. Am I right? ;)
I really do not know if there is Toshiba some support page for South America but few guys from there have had the same problem like you. I can not say for sure if you can use BIOS update from US support site. I recommend you to call Authorized service partner in your country. They work with this stuff and I am 100% sure they will be able to give you right info.
The addresses and phone numbers you can find under http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/su/su_gaspLocator.jsp?pf=true

  • BIOS Flash on Satellite A215

I have a Satellite A215-S7444 that originally came with Vista 32 bit, I have since done a custom install of Se7en 64 bit. There is an issue of when coming put of sleep mode that the audio device disappears. OK, so there is a Bios update for my model that is supposed to correct this issue.
If I remember correctly in the forums someone had posted "not to boot from within windows or u could completely bork your system." I have dl. The Bios update and created a "bootable" CD per the instructions using windows disc image burner but that is as far as I have gone.
So I would like some someone to post step by step instructions for me on how to SUCCESSFULLY flash my Bios. As far I know u have to hit F12 during bootup, then select the "boot" tab, then select Boot from disc." Then u have to select "Save and Exit with changes" or something along those lines. And then reboot. Is this correct or am I missing a step? I know that there is only ONE shot at this so I want to get it correct. Has anyone else successfully flashed the Bios?
Thanx in advance for all usefull information.

First off thanx for the replies. And yes I know that the Bios update must be specific to my model but near as I can tell it is: Satellite A215-S7444, Model # PSAFGU-02L002. And the link to the dl. page: http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/modelContent.jsp?ct=DL&os=&category=&moid=1852729& rpn=PSAFGU&modelFilter=A215-S7444&selCategory=3&selFamily=1073768663
So I should be good to go eh? But I am still reluctant, I have never flashed a Bios before. I wish that someone who has actually done it successfully would post, because I know that if anything goes wrong my laptop will be scrap...lol. So I just hit F12 at startup and click on the Boot tab and select "Boot from CD", then restart? I don't have to "Save changes" then exit? Hmmm....
    Awaiting confirmation and thenx again.

  • DOS BIOS flash for MP Miini 1000, Vivienne Tam (HP Mini 1020TU) ?

    Hi,
I have a gorgeous Vivienne Tam HP Mini 1000 (Mini 1020TU) that will not boot windows. I can access the BIOS settings and I can boot to a DOS USB stick.
So the normal BIOS flash is out of my reach. I need to do it from DOS. Yet though HP gives the instructions on how to do this, it doesn't seem to offer the actual ROM file or its loader.
Is there any way out of this dilemma?
    Thanks,
    Paul

  • What is new in the Bios aviable for Satellite A100-PSAA9?

    i canot found a chanlog :(

    Hi Bela
What do you search for? Do you need informations about new BIOS version or what?
At this time you will find a newest version of BIOS on the Toshiba page.
I have checked the site and it seems the 5.10 version was released on 25/01/07 and its OS independent.
Unfortunately, you will not find any information about modification of the new BIOS version.
It seems Toshiba European site doesnt provide such details.

  • Where can I find a BIOS update for Satellite A200-14D (PSAEC)

    Hello,
Where can I find a BIOS update for this model?
My bios is 23/10/07 Windows Vista 32 Bit 1.80-WIN

    Hi
Did you check the Toshiba European driver page?
There you could find all drivers and BIOS for the Satellite A200-14D (PSAEC)
But I checked the page and the BIOS 1.8 for Win Vista 32bit is still the newest one.
Seems you are already up to date buddy ;)

  • BIOS uppdate for Satellite S1400-253S

I have a Toshiba notebook model Satellite S1400-256S, model number: PS140E-0CR36-SW. Does anybody know were i can find the latest BIOS update for this model?

I dont know if you will find a latest BIOS for this notebook but if you want you can search on the Toshiba European driver page in Archive area.
Seem its a older notebook and therefore the drivers were moved to archive.
But to be honest I would not recommend any BIOS updates if the notebook runs troublefree.

  • Satellite A20-S103 and SDHC support

    Hello,
Are there any chances to make my old A20-S103 support SDHC cards?
I googled and checked Toshiba support page for the latest drivers but it doesn't seem to work.
I know I can buy an external USB reader, but I'd like to use the built-in reader if possible.
I hope it's just a matter of new driver, not the hardware itself.
I'd appreciate any help regarding this.
    Thx

I am 100% sure something like this is not possible. It is old notebook model and it is not supported anymore.
You can try to install driver designed for some newer notebook model but I dont believe it will work.

  • Satellite A20-S103 - crackling noise with new HDD

    Hello together
I upgraded my A20-S103 laptop with a Western Digital WD2500BEVE 250 GB hard drive running under Windows XP Pro.
Since then I have problems with the sound and the mouse movement when the CPU usage is high.
Lets say up to 50 % usage everything works fine but above I have cracking noise and the mouse sticks and makes jumping movements.
The drivers and the BIOS are updated to the latest Toshiba versions online.
After some time and alot of search I got also the hard drive running in DMA mode with the ALI IDE4008.exe tool so it is not that the hard drive is running in PIO mode.
Further I think that the hard drive speed is low when the CPU usage is high.
Please read also http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=89990&#89990 which is showing I am not the only one with this problem.
    Does anybody knows a solution?

I agree with Akuma. You should try to update the BIOS and the chipset drivers and see if it works or not.
    It worth a try ;)
    Both you can find here:
