Bios flash windows boot freeze/problem Neo2 Plt.

Hi i'm new here so be kind and helpful please
Ok my problem is I got my Gskill LE kit yesterday and decided to upgrade the bios from 1.3 to something more TCCD friendly (apparently) i tried, 1.4, 1.41 and 1.51 and i have the same problem with all of them. The flash is successful but i cannot get into xp. Every time whether in safe mode or not, it hangs on the Windows XP loading screen, the boot screen is very faded and only just visable on my monitor.  The same problem occured with my previous ram when trying to upgrade the bios.
I have tried everything i can think of except a clean windows install, all the bios options i can think of, it was flashed when not overclocked, tried changing the hard disks from sata 3&4 to 1&2, tried different flash methods (floppy and previously tried using the live update in windows to 1.4 from msi and the same thing happened), resetting the cmos after the flash.
Computer as in signature
Any help/ideas would be much appreciated.
i would rather not do a clean xp install as i have just got it running nicely, but i suspect this is the only option. if it doesn't work, i'm going to crack the shits and try get another one.
I have looked through this forum and have found no definitive answers so i decided to create a new post.

Try to reset your bios by setting the jumper to the 2-3 pin position for about 5 seconds then back to its normal 1-2 position, then try to boot.  If that makes no difference then i belive your left with the only option of formatting it again.  I've had this problem before with an older system but i never took the time to troubleshoot it.  I just reformatted the drive with a fresh install of XP.
Hopefully other people here can help you out with your problem but i'd check the manual and find out how to use those jumpers to reset the bios.  If you cant seem to get a hold of the jumper (located below the las pci slot, its a small green plastic) then i'd remove the motherboard battery and leave it out for about 5 minutes so the capacitors can discharge properly then put it back in and try to boot.  That's all i can think of right now.  Or even try to repair your installation with your xp disc.
Sorry thats all i can think of right now

    My Problem:
I have been trying to ascertain if I had USB2 drivers on my board and was following the installlation CD that came with the board which informed me that I had to use MS Windows drivers. As I already had SP1 installed it was no help I therefore went to live update to try and update my drivers etc. This I did initially having to upload Live update 3.  I then downloaded and installed the drivers for the MB and followed by downloading the new BIOS.  On Flashing the BIOS I got the message "erasing" follwed by "programming" and Programming complete" and then "verifying ROM" and eventually "complete" On Boot I now get instructed to install the resue disk which I dont have. Confusingly I also get a flash of the Win ME boot screen - I have never had Win ME & the system was built from scratch & with WINXP installed drom the start. I have tried to rename the boot file but it is already called AMIBOOT. Do you have any other suggestions. - On revisiting the site courtesy of deathstalker I note there is a different AMI bios update for the FISR 2 I suspect I dowloaded and tried to install V2.0 but am not sure where to go from here
    Thanks
    GG

OK Have done that but I get the message
"Insert Rescue disk Can't find Sys.ini"
It would appear that the windows boot log has been erased - the folders are there but are empty.
Retracing my steps in trying to load the USB stuff I looked in a folder on the MSI master disk which directed me to run a Win3XPatch ( sorry not sure if that is the exact name the disk isn't here right now) This installed and in turn directed me to a file called win9x-me (again I think) which it lead me to believe the drivers were in - I'll try to get the disk back and post the exact file names
    Thanks

  • HT201321 Finder flashing, "Window Restore", desktop problems

I've never seen this happen before. My finder icon bounces in the dock while a window with this warning is up, "Window Restore problem would you like to restore or not restore?" Since it is flashing on and off you can't click either button. What we found was there was a file on the desktop it did not like, I made a folder inside the main HD and put the items from the destop in it and deleted what was on the desktop. This stopped the Finder bouncing problem but Indesign and Acrobat keep crashing. I can log in as admin and it works well but need to fix the desktop problem. Any ideas?

    Hi,
Does the issue occur just after the installation or after some changes?
Please try the follow step to see if it works:
1.Open Task Manager by right-click on Taskbar and select Start Task Manager or by using keyboard shortcut "Ctrl+Shift+Esc".
2.Click on More Details button and go to "Processes" tab.
3.Now look for "Windows Explorer" process. As soon as you click on it, you'll get a new button "Restart" at the bottom-right corner of the window.
4.You can also right-click on the process and select "Restart" option.
If it doesn't work, please try the safe mode and clean boot mode to check the result.

  • Z87 GD65 bios flash result in freeze.

    Hey guys,
    First time MSI customer here.
I bought the GD65-Gaming, it came with bios v1.1, downloaded v1.9, formatted a USB stick to FAT32, copied the file E7845IMS.190 to the root of the USB stick, went to bios, m-flash chose the 2nd option (bios + ME), chose the file and it just froze. I waited 3-4 minutes and nothing was showing on the screen and i was not able to move the mouse cursor. I tried two different USB keys, one NTFS and one FAT32. none of which worked.
    Am Running 4770k , gtx 670, 16gb kingston beast @ 1333mhz and Windows 7 ultimate 64bit edition.
Please help me resolve this, I'm pleading you.
    Thanks in advance,
    Mike

i didn't told to use a floppy disk [BIOS is too big for floopy too, won't fit and its not relative storage and its something retired not used from long time]
    use an USB key instead

I found bios v1.9 the best so far, only a few fsb points difference between this and 2.0 and 2.1 but much better than anything else below 1.9, also the most stable for my setup ( see sig ).

  • 270x Faulty behaviour after Windows boot

Hello i own a 270x from January 2014, the unit that im using is the 2º, the first one broke in the first 4 days of use.
Until now it was working fine, but yesterday when i was playing cs go, the screen freeze in 1 solid color, and i was forced to doa hard reboot to the pc.
After that, every time the Windows boots, the image in the bios and windows boot screen is fine, but after the that, when the windows load , the image freezes, sometime in a solid color, other times the image is full of artefacts or vertical strips.
The strange thing, is that in 2D mode (safe mode), the PC boots fine and the image doesn't distorts. I have tried to reinstall the drivers(v13 and 14), tried to run a linux live boot, tried the gpu in another PC(different mobo, psu, cpu, ram) and the behaviour is the same.
I suspect that the ram off the graphic card is faulty, does anyone in here have another suggestion i can try, before sending the card to rma.
    Best Regards

    Hello,
You can upgrade the BIOS in Windows 8, no problem, but should you is another matter.
I've always had a "if it ain't broken, don't fix it" attitude towards BIOS upgrades, however
I do try to keep my ThinkPads current.
The BIOS updates are here for your machine, pick the 32 or 64 bit installation, depending
    on your OS.

  • Neo2 not booting after BIOS flash

    Darn - after upgrading to v1.3 BIOS, my Neo2 FIS2R won't boot.
I got a brand new set of components - new CPU, Neo2 FIS2R, and 1GB of Kingston HyperX PC3200 memory (22261T).  I put everything in my system (Antec case, 400W P/S) and it booted fine with the v1.0 BIOS and I was able to install WinXP to my new 120GB SATA drive and my ATI9700Pro.  Great - I know all my components work.
I install LiveBios and it shows me that v1.3 is out and enables MAT and DOT - the two features I bought the mobo for.  So I download the latest via LiveBios, build the floppy (my system uses NTFS to boot) and reboot.
The BIOS flash process goes smoothly and I wait all the way to the end.  I shut off the system and reboot - nothing, just a blank screen.  So I shut it off, clear CMOS, and reboot again - still nothing.  I try several more times, still nothing.  However, recovery mode works so I reflash 1.3 a couple times to see if that will help, but it does not.
Finally, I build a floppy with v1.2 BIOS as the recovery BIOS and use recovery mode to load that.  Still no go.
It is at this point that I discover and plug in those diags LEDs (I was using the onboard USB header to bring the USB ports to the front of the case) and find that it is stopping almost immediately at the 'early chipset identification' phase.  Ouch.  Oh, and at this point the BIOS recovery mode no longer works.  Ouch.
Any thoughts?  At this point I got an RMA number from the vendor and I'm thinking I'm just sending it back.

Unfortunately I can't even get to that phase - the system won't show the post splash screen or post at all.  It just sits there blank (I know I wasn't clear on where the boot process was stopping - it doesn't even allow me to enter rom-based setup.)
So I'd love to set vdimm to something else, but I can't.

  • Won't boot after using windows Bios flash utility

I used the windows bios flash utility i found on the toshiba website for this sat a135-s2386, all looked good until reboot, now just a white screen.

Attitude is not going to get you far.
Let's try a proper system reset, and see if this helps bring the unit back.  Power off your system, unplug everything including the AC, remove the battery, press and hold down the power on button for 30 seconds, replace battery and AC, power on, if you see the Toshiba logo press the 'F2' key to enter BIOS Setup, in setup press 'F9' to load setup defaults, press 'F10' to save and exit, then try to boot into Windows.
Please let us know what happens. Good luck.

  • So why wont my bios flash allow windows to start (raid 0 array).

Hi .. I have been running 1.36 beta bios ever since I had this board (K8N Neo2 plat), but have had the odd problem once in a while, after trying various things, I thought I would flash the bios to the newest official version ... but heres the problem.
It boots, gives me a "healthy" report on the raid array .. but right where the windows boot screen should appear it just stays black.
So I try safe mode .. it loads all the text then hangs.
I tried rebuilding the array, but no go .. still the same result ... flash back to 1.36b and windows loads fine
Bios was put back to defualt settings before the flash .. so I am a bit confused as to why I am having this issue, can anyone help ?

    My fault Syar2003
I was looking at the scsci bit .. not the sata bit under ide controlers ... 1.4bios on and windows loaded (after a few secs blank screen when i went nooooooooooooo !!)
Great stuff thanks for all your help
Odd that installing the 5.1 drivers doesn't do these too ... but thats nvidia for ya I guess

  • K8T Neo2 BIOS flash stops TV card from working

    HI
I've just flashed the BIOS on my K8T Neo2 (6702E) from 3.2 to 9.3 and swapped the processor fron a 3200+ Winchester to a 4200+ X2.  This all went fine and on boot up Windows detected the new chip and installed the multicore HAL.  The computer also redetcted all the other hardware such as graphics sound card ect without problem.  However I also have a Nebula Electronics PCI Digiatal TV card.  When this reinstalled its drivers the computer crashed and rebooted.  All subsequent attempt to reinstall this card result in the same behaviour. I've tried differnt PCI slot and even a complete fresh reinstall of windows but no change, the moment the drivers finish installing it crash's.  Nebula's support told me that there is a recognised incompatibility between there PCI card and the K8T Neo2 in fact they say "the MSI KT8 Neo series will not allow the installation of any Fusion based 878a-based drivers (as used by our DigiTV PCI card). As such, we regret that you cannot use our card with this motherboard".  However I used the card and board together for over a year using the 3.2 BIOS and Winchester.  Nebula now say that they have had lots of customers with the same problem installing there PCI card into this board and think my evidence may suggest that the BIOS is the problem.  They have asked If I would swap back to an earlier BIOS to see if it starts working again.  However I'm a bit reluctant to start messing about Randomly with different BIOS version as the possiblity of a complete disaster will go up.  Anybody any idea why a BIOS change should stop a device working, or any any experience of which BIOS might work??

OK MSI support have responded as follows
    "Hi,
Now we also suggest you flash BIOS to the old version 9.1 to verify, since BIOS 9.1 can support dual core processor. If you don't want to flash BIOS under DOS, it is easy to use another tool to flash BIOS under windows. Please download the tool from the following link:
    ftp/BIOS folder/AWSFI305.
Please download the BIOS from the following link:
    http://www.msi.com.tw/program/support/bios/bos/spt_bos_detail.php?UID=608&kind=1"
I'll have to have a think about this, although I guess it might fix a few other problems that I have.  I assume the windows tool they are referring to is the "live update" If so I thought the general consensus was to avoid using it?

  • MSI X48C Platinum Windows boot problem

    Hi,
I tested the MSI X48c Platinum motherboard with windows xp Pro 64 bit, Windows 7 RC1 and Windows 7 Retail, all of them share the same problem so it has to be caused by hardware.
When I boot up at the logo of windows it freezes, when I reboot and chose to start the operating system normally it runs through. This freezing up seems to be random, sometimes when I power my machine it runs through it with no problem.

    For testing only:
    - use only one memory stick and one DDR2 Switch Card
    - reduce the memory frequency to DDR2-667 in BIOS Setup and set the Memory Voltage to 1.9V
    - disable Spread Spectrum
See if that changes anything.  If it does, we have reasons to look for a memory problem
I run 64 bit operating system running it with only 2gb is not a problem? (i'm testing boot so gues not?).
memory frequency , voltage and Spread Spectrum should be all set or test them individually?

What is your current BIOS Version?
    7.30 11062008
I have disabled Spread Spectrum and rebooted 12 times and all went good, have to test still with complete power down and boot to see if that works

  • Bios flashed, rma, windows still wont load

    Evening,
I flashed with live update (yes i know now..) and it went wrong. Board, P55-cd53, sent to MSI who reprogrammed it. Unfortunately windows wouldnt load. I think i have tried every described method posted here, even flashed back to the old version, to no avail. I even tried a boot dvd with ubuntu but even that OS wont run (either with or without installation). The pc simply reboots when trying to execute these commands.
If i were to replace any hardware: what would it be?
    System specs
    P55-CD53
    intel i5 750
    ocz-gold-low-voltage-ocz3g1333lv4gk
    Msi hawk 5770
    Samsung spinpoint f3 500gb
    Cooler master real power M520
    Thanks,
    Harry

Before this bios flash it was worked fine?
I was having regular BSOD, especially when leaving the pc on overnight. Other than that everything worked fine.

Do >>Clear CMOS Guide<< with power cord removed.
    Then Load BIOS Defaults
I did this before sending it back to MSI. I haven't done this after i received the mb back from MSI. Will try today.

Check memory voltage in BIOS setup, you may need to apply voltage recommended by your memory vendor for your sticks
    Also do check with >>Memtest86<<
Memtest came with the Ubuntu-disc. I ran it and the Memtest results were shocking. I only did 5 runs but received thousands of failures.
I will replace the OCZ rightaway instead of finetuning them in BIOS.
Also adressed to Jack: Would the G-skill F3-12800CL9D-4GBNQ be a good choice? Right out of the box without adjusting anything inside BIOS?

    Else reinstall OS
So far i haven't been able to reinstall or repair (from disc and usb) my windows 7 at all, not even Ubuntu.
System just keeps telling me 'the ntoskrnl is missing or corrupt' and keeps doing restart loops.
Would replacing the DRAM solve my problems likely or would it cost me a new MB or HDD too (if al else fails)?
    Thanks,
    Harry

  • Z87-G45 Ethernet and USB problems. And BIOS flash problems

Hi. I kind of have a problem and hope you guys can help me.
I got this motherboard yesterday but I got a major problem with the Ethernet connection. It will simply not work, it’s totally dead. I have tried to enable everything that has to do with the Ethernet (Settings/advanced/intergrated peripherials) but it still will not work.  There is no light at the back side that indicates that there is signal when I plug in the cable. I have tried the cable on my laptop so I know there is signal.
There is no problem installing windows, but I can’t install the drivers for the ethernet. I get an error message then that there is no hardware that can use this drivers.
Are there any places in the BIOS where I can enable it? How can I get this up and running?
And my USB driver is kinda messed up too. My 120MB UBS pen is found and can be used, but my 64Gb flash pen and my 500Gb USB HDD will now work with the USB. I only get the USB "ping" connection sound over and over and over and over again with the windows error, drivers not installed.
The other thing about the USB is that every time I restart the PC, I have to unplug the mice and put it into an other USB to activate it.
I have tried to flash the BIOS, but when I try (after pushing m-flash and connecting the USB and finding the file), the whole BIOS just freezes up and nothing happens. I try to wait a bit but nothing happens. I have to manually restart the machine by "force" (Turning the power to PSU off and on again. Ayone know if there is a problem with flashing the BIOS from USB? Or maybe that the USB system is messed up? Any other way I can flash the BIOS?
I have downloaded all the latest drivers and updated.
    Best regards
    Robert

Again do not try to use MFlash. Try the board outside case like suggested.
THis is making me frusterated now......
I have now had the motherboard on my wood table with a antistatic tablecloth and antistatic armband.
I only plugged in 1 ram, power, a monitor and mouse/keyboard(USB).
I manage to get the USB pen bootable so I could do the memtest and biost flash.
The USB ports are still unstable. I still have to move my mouse and keyboard from slot to slot when I restart the machine. It feels like if random USB conection is being turned off and on for every time I start the computer.
    I connected a HDD to install Windows 7 64bit.
The computer will still not read USB storage with larger then my 120mb storage in both the BIOS and Windows (I suspect that 1GB is the limit for some rason). It only shows that USB device was not installed.
After I isntalled the USB 3.0 drivers that came with the mother board, the USB 3.0 system just stoped working. I tryed to update the drivers to the latest ones, but they still dont work. The USB 3.0 drivers do work in BIOS, but the drivers that came with the motherboard does not support windows 7 64bit. Or this motherboard.....
The ethernet conection is still FUBAR. When I try to install the drivers from the CD, the "LAN picture" is still grayed out. And when I try to force install the drivers, nothing will accept the network connectin. Trying to install the Killer Network Manager just ends up in "No supported hardware found in your system". It is like that the ethernet system is turned totally off.... But in the BIOS is marked as enable.
I have tryed to installe Realtek drivers, Intel drivers and the Atheos drivers, but non of them will install, all just say that there is no network that supports this drivers.
I am at my wits end right now. During the last 15 years I have build about 20 computers and this motherboard is taking 1st price for being the worse one ever.

  • Java Update does not install latest build

Kind of an odd bug I suppose: Java Update only installs up to build 6, even though build 7 is listed on the site. It's possible that the latest build hasn't been placed on the update servers yet, though personally I think there's a problem with Java
