  • What's the correct bios for my Satellite A100? Is PSAA9E = PSAA9 ?

    Hi,
I wanna do a BIOS Update. But If I go to the Toshiba-driversite: http://de.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_bios.jsp and choose Notebook-->Satellite-->A series there are listed:
    A100 (PSAA2)
    A100 (PSAA8)
    A100 (PSAA9)
    A100 (PSAAN)
    A100 (PSAAR)
At the undersite of my Laptop is printed: PSAA9E. Is this the same as PSAA9 ?

    Hi mate,
dont worry and download the bios for PSAA9 since toshiba cuts the last digits from the model number because the last digit probably the region or country describes. I am not sure, but what I am sure is that PSAA9E definetively PSAA9 is.
    Cheers

  • V20z:upgraded bios for dual-core support, lsi SCSI no longer works.

I upgraded the firmware of my v20z to latest available(2.4.0.14) to gain support for some AMD 275 processors. Prior to upgrade system was running w2k3 server and XP fine.
After upgrading the bios/processors the boot process stops when initializing the scsi controller, or if the disks are removed, when looking for OS. Boot from the diagnostic CD works fine, if no drives are installed. Dianostic CD hangs with a scsi bus error otherwise.
The problem seems to be that the onboard LSI SCSI controller does not configure the single installed drive correctly. When I attempt to change settings in the controller bios, I receive a message "Unable to save non volatile settings". Changing out drive for a newer drive causes no change. Downgrading to other available BIOS revisions causes no changes.
    any suggestions????

well it is almost the original state--I can't find the original bios for download. I also checked if LSI had a bios that I can flash to the adapter, and while they do, the flash procedure doesn't work. Probably because this is an integrated, and not standalone chip.
I do get the bios prompts, etc. I can go in and make changes, but I can't seem to make them save. I get "unable to save non-volatile settings".
I think I will check through the docs some more, and look for the download site for older bios

  • Custom BIOS for GE60 2oc

    Hello!
I would like to request a custom bios for my laptop (MSI GE-60 2oc).
I have had problems with low CPU utilization after updating the embedded controller with official MSI firmware update. At the same time I was supposed to update the BIOS, but I couldn't, using the official driver found on MSI download center, since my system told me it's not the right version.
I wanted to try this new approach as a new bios might help, I figured. I can't find any downgrading for the embedded controller. Would a custom bios be good thing for me or am I doing this all wrong?
    Current bios: E16GCIMS.509
    EC firmware installed: 16GCEMS1.506
The BIOS update that did not work: E16GCIMS.611

I know got my current version of BIOS and EC by MSI support so I will experiment with them. Downgrading to EC v. 5.00 helped I think. I have started to meassure now and the thing is that my GPU seems to have a real low core clock. The GT750m is marketed as 967 mhz but GPU shark and 3DMark 11 shows that I have 405 mhz. When playing Starcraft 2 I get real low FPS considering the settings (25 fps while playing medium quality and 1080p res.) hard to find comparing stats on the net. When meassuring with 3Dmark 11 I get a 2800 score which is comparable to other machines like mine.

  • How to install the new BIOS for Satellite Pro M50 running Ubuntu

I am running Ubuntu on my Pro M50. Could someone advise me what the latest BIOS is and how to install it?
The BIOS upgrade site here seems to havean exe file but I couldn't see the BIOS file within?
    Thanks

Why do you want to update the BIOS?!
Do you have any big troubles with your notebook?!
The Toshiba European driver page provides BIOS for XP and BIOS for Vista.
Both BIOS versions must be executed while the operating system is running!
If you use the Linux on your notebook, you will be not able to update the BIOS!!!
    Do you understand?
Once again; The BIOS update should be done ONLY if its absolutely necessary. In other case dont update it!

  • Need original BIOS for G530A

    Hello,
I tried to connect my laptop to a tv for the first time but unfortunately there is a problem with the laptop's HDMI output.
I purchased Lenovo G530A about 2 years ago. I updated its BIOS via a setup I downloaded through Lenovo web site. But recently I found out that my laptop is G530A instead of G530 which is the only model on driver list on Lenovo web site. And the big difference between two is that G530 doesn't have an HDMI output while G530A does and through reading a few forum posts it looks like the BIOS is the problem.
I searched everywhere but I cannot find the original BIOS for model G530A. What can I do?

you're saying you flashed g530's bios instead of g530a?
if you succeed to flash it, i can say they are same models.
you can check g530 download page.

I recently got a phenom 2 720 black edition CPU, and I flashed my bios with the beta bios for my board(7390v123).
Everything runs fine, except for now I can't change the CPU multiplier or CPU voltage(there locked on auto). Yes I do know about +/- and pgup/pgdn, the problem is it won't allow me to even select these options, it skips right over them to the next option. My motherboard is K9N SLI V2(Ms-7390). If anyone could help me out I'd be grateful thanks.

It's just the version no. Like .221 instead of .rom when vbios is version 221. You just need to rename it to .rom for flashing .
    Ah, I see.
Thank you very much, now I have even faster boot times! And I love the native res look.

  • How to flash bios for aspire 5745 when you have a black screen

I attempted to update my bios for my Acer Aspire 5745 notebook and chose the wrong file.  The computer is giving me a black screen now. When I push the start button the lights come on the fan blows and thats all. I found a few sits on line giving me the procedure to flash an aspire one system. Here is the steps I took to do so to no avail. 1. When to the acer site and put the SNID number to my laptop to pull up my suggested downloads for my system. 2. I downloaded the file to my working computer. 3. I extracted the file and opened the file that said DOS. 4. I renamed the file zg5ia32.fd 5. checked my flash drive to make sure it is set to ( FAT ). 6. Transfered the file to the flash drive. 7. Pluged in the flash drive to my dead laptop while it was pluged into a powersorce. 8. Held down the FN and ESC buttons while pushing the power buttons. 9. Released the FN and ESC buttons when I noticed the power light blinking and the flash drive light up. 10. Waited for over 15 min.  but had no success. If anyone could tell me what I may have done wrong I would be much appriciated.  I also opened up the backside to the laptop and removed the little battery that was plugged it with a small white connector assuming it was the cmos battery but still nothing happended.

I was never able to properly flash my bios. I had wondered if when I tried to update it I may have destroyed my bios in the process. Anyways I had purchased a motherboard for I think around 50.00 on ebay. It was used but was complete. All I had to do was take out the old motherboard and replace with the other one. It all came on after that with a new knowledge of not fix something that is not broken.
