Bios NOT installed

Built up machine last night the but i get a message saying no bios installed and then it reebots this goes into a cycle, i can get into setup and found that the hard drive & dvd/cdwriter has been located. i have disabled promise & removed the d bracket. this has made no diference. i have looked through the stickys so if i have missed this then i am sorry could you please help as i have now a bad headache.

i have tried the clear cmos option, made no diference unfortunatley as did swapping the memory, as i said the memory is 266 an dthe cpu is 800fsb is ther a ratio i should check or a voltage i should change, although it says bios not installed i can get into setup and alter the bios from there. headache not any better lol

  • "BIOS not installed" error message.God help me!

Greeting all. I was so damn exited about getting this NEO875P-FI2SR board. I am beginning to wonder if the effort will ever be rewarded. Got everything plugged up tonight and fired it up and it says "BIOS not installed". I reset CMOS a couple of times and loaded the default set of parameters in the BIOS setup. Same stuff. I have been searching the forum fo other folks that have had this same issue, but no luck. Has anyone had any experience with this particular error message? Thanks guys.

I don't have your motherboard, but I have a question
Is the BIOS NOT INSTALLED message you are getting being showed after it displays FASTRACK.
Also does your computer still start Windows ??????
If so, then the message you see you do not have to worry about, I think it has something to do with RAID and no devices connected to it.

  • BIOS NOT INSTALLED message on boot

Help! I have just put together a new (used) system with a P4 2.88 Ghz cpu & MSI 875 NEO FSR mainboard and I get the message 'BIOS NOT INSTALLED' on boot immediately after the first line. (before POSTS?) ANyway, it doesn't seem to stop or impede the system in anyway but is just an annoyance. Any advice would be very welcome. Thankyou, Chris

Like pharao said, you need to go into the BIOS & disable the Promise chip if you're not using it.  I used to get the same message & it puzzled the bugger out of me.

  • ICH5R - bios not installed?

Sorry if I am going over old ground but I assume I get this message on boot up as I have no Serial ATA devices? It saus 'No devices found' then 'BIOS not installed' and boots just fine.
Just want to make sure this is not a problem with the board?
    Thanks.
    Matt.
    ps..bios is v1.4

You really should use the search function of this board before posting. The boards are full of the same questions asked over and over. This would be a better approach then asking the question again and then saying your sorry. 8)
It would also really help if you posted how many, the type of drives you are using(PATA or SATA), whether they are set up RAID or not, and finally how are they connected.
With out this info it is hard to give you a precise answer but I will take a shot. :P
If you have no devices attached to the Intel SATA disable it in the bios. It is under the integrated peripherals section "On chip IDE configuration".
If you have a PATA drive or drives connected on the Promise controller disable SATA on the controller.
Double check that the promise controller is set for the proper mode "P-ATA only"
Just look through the bios settings boot section carefully.
Post more specific info on your configuration if you require further assistance.

  • Bios not installed, device not found

I'm sure someone can answer this, but I can't. When booting, I get the message "bios not installed" and "device not found." Now, I know it doesn't pertain to the actual bios, but what exactly does it mean? And how do I get rid of the message?

  • RE: : "AEC-6880 BIOS not install" error - fixed for me.

To anyone receiving the POST error : "AEC-6880 BIOS not install" on a 645Max2, my problem was a dead Maxtor Plus9 disk.
Both disks in the mirror array were brand new 80GB parts, within three days i was getting the BIOS not installed error instead of the Acard utility telling me one of the disks was bad.  Pretty major ehh?!!
I removed the dead disk and managed rescue the data from the working disk, so don't reformat them before you've checked that both disks are good!
Hope someone out there finds that useful.
    Ben

Welcome to the Club! Got the same Problem and had a really hard time reaching the Customer Support because they were down due to maitenance! Just wrote to their experts chat and hope to get an answer in this life!
I tried to authorize my Computer and eBookreader with a new Adobe-ID, but it says I've done used this ID too often, even though it was brandnew! Can't copy my just-purchased eBook because "Copying is not allowed".
I hold my thumbs for you that Adobe solves this Problem fast enough. Other ways I'll sell my eBookreader and buy the Kindle-Reader from Amazon and say GOOD BYE to Adobe!

  • MSI-6565 "BIOS NOT INSTALLED"

Running a MSI-6565 with a PCI IDE Raid card using Raid 0 with 2 Maxtors.  No hard drives attatched to the board itself.  The system boots and runs fine.  However, i cannot enter the Bios.  I'm getting an error, "No drive attached to the FastTrack Controller.  The Bios was not installed"  Any thought on how to get into the Bios?  Thanks, Chad

That's the o/b RAID bios.  Enter the main bios and disable the o/b RAID since your not using it.

  • BIOS not installed to blinking dot black screen =|

I had the problem outlined in this thread here with the msg that BIOS was not installed, the only difference was that my computer wouldnt boot at all after and would get stuck on the No SATA devices found screen.
    https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?sid=&postid=235472#post235472
I followed their advice, reset CMOS to get into BIOS and turned off the 2 SATA options.
Now when I reboot I get the MSI logo screen and then my monitor flicks off and on, and then I get a black screen with a white blinking dot in the top left corner.
    Any ideas?

    nevermind...
booted from cd and its all working now :D

  • BIOS Not Installed issue

My computer runs great but when it starts up it says that BIOS is not installed even though I flashed BIOS 1.20.  Whats the Deal?

    Hi
Thats normal, there are several options on that post screen. After a Bios update the system is set back to factory default. You will need to set up Bios again, best use the safe defaults, and set the boot sequence to suit your machine. Remember to save the settings before rebooting.

  • POST - BIOS not installed

I am running XP, all updated and patched. I have installed a Maxtor 120Gig drive (OS/Boot) on my IDE1 chain and trying to add a Maxtor 120Gig SATA on SATA 1. The manual instructs to hold Cntrol+i to enter SATA/RAID config, but I see a "No BIOS installed" at POST, then my OS loads. My BIOS Integrated Devices OnBoard Promise ATA is set as SATA and XP's device manager reports the SATA driver functioning properly.  What am I doing wrong?
Could someone please tell me what I need to do to get my SATA drive installed.

Quoting from the manual, since I have it right in front of me now (was reading up about the RAID, 'ent built my computer yet):
Get into the BIOS by pressing Del during start up, then:
"Once you enter the BIOS Setup Utility, the Main Menu will appear on the screen. Use arrow keys to move among the configurable functions on the Main Menu and press to enter the sub-menus. The Promise IDE setting function is inside one of the sub-menus.
Set the onboard Promise IDE Controller (FastTrak 378) as... RAID."
Then reset your computer. According to the manual it'll then pause during start-up with a message saying "No Array is defined..."
So it looks to me like you need to set it as RAID and not S-ATA.

  • Error "No drive attached to fastrack controller, the bios is not installed"

Having recently purchased a K7N2 Delta mainboard I now get the above error displayed during bootup. Shortly after the message has been displayed the windows boot process hangs.
What have I done wrong or what havn't I done right?

    Hi,
    Technomarv:
Listen to what others are saying! "The BIOS not installed" message is NOT a problem My machine says this EVERY time I boot Up! There is obviously something else wrong.
    You say:
    Quote
The problem does not appear to be with the boot sector as when I put the hard drive into another machine it boots perfectly. Once back in MSI machine the boot process hangs again. I therefore find it difficult just to ignore the PC when it tells me "The bios is not installed".
Am I to understand from this that your trying to boot the same hard drive using two different motherboards? If so - I'm not surprised it doesn't boot! It is advisable to do a full and new install of your OS - to your HD - when installing a new board.
You can't just move a hard drive from one machine to another and hope a boot will be successful (this can only be done when the motherboard and or add-ons are the same or very similar).

  • BIOS not inatalled??

    Hi,
I have just built my first pc using a K8T Neo-FIS2R. Everything has gone really well.
Whenever i start windows however i get the message "Bios not installed" come up before it proceeds to boot up Windows.
Why is this? have I done something wrong

    Hi
No the IDE3 HDD connector is on promise controller (P20378) along with the SER1 and SER2 SATA connectors.
The via chipset controls IDE1 and IDE2 ( PATA IDE) along with the Via SATA controller SATA IDE.
The Via is the better controller, so unless you need the promise connectors for more drives then just leave it disabled.
