BIOS password removal on Tecra M11-11M

I have a Toshiba Tecra M11-11M which has been password locked. I have stripped the notebook and removed the BIOS battery for 10 min but the password still remains ie on the screen it still reads PASSWORD- ****.
There is no way to enter the BIOS via any key combination.
There are no markings or letters on the motherboard whatsoever ie: C35-C36 or J12-J13 to short out which would in most cases remove the password and allow access to the BIOS.
Any techies out there with any ideas would be much appreciated.
Some people asking for help with a bios password are not thieves but just forgetful fools.

As far as I know Toshiba uses several methods for BIOS password removal. On business machines like Tecra or Portege the method is not the same as on Satellite models.
BIOS battery removal maybe works on desktops but not on mobile machines.
Mobile machines must have better protection due to fact that can be pretty easy stolen and it is very important to prevent fraudulent use.

Thats correct but you cannot expect that BIOS password removal method will be described on public forum. Contact nearest Toshiba service provider and they will do this for you. All you must do is to show valid bill and prove that you are real owner of this Tecra machine.

Good question but Im afraid only Toshiba marketing division has right answer to your question.
I just presume they create own decision based on market research.
You can try to install own 64bit version if the drivers, tools and utilities are available.

Tecra M11-11M - Resume failure

My Tecra M11-11M does not resume to the position I left, once it goes into harbenation. It resume a few times, but after few times, the Windows 7 32 bit systems resumes, but does not log into my user progile, hence I have to do a cold reboot of the system.
I need help how to over come this problem.

Im a little bit confused about your posting
How do you get into hibernation mode? Do you press FN+F4 key combination or do you choose hibernation from start menu?
And if you try hibernation, does the notebook power off or is it still on?
How do you wake up your notebook from hibernation? Do you just open the lid or press power button?
Why it does not log into your user profile? Does the notebook freeze or what happens exactly?
A lot of questions I know but otherwise its not possible to give you detailed answer.

BIOS password issue on Tecra A9

All problems with BIOS password must be clarified with Toshiba service provider.
If your notebook is blocked by password and you cannot access it please contact nearest Toshiba service and they can remove it for you.

G560 BIOS password removal

I have a g560 with a password on the BIOS. I have tried
-removing CMOS
-altering the platform.ini on the new BIOS flash
-trying to find the hash and using a pw generator
I can boot up to windows 7 just fine. But when trying to perform any BIOS operations (boot menu, etc.) it asks for the password. If someone know the location of the eeprom for me to jump it or some other way to bypass it it would be much appreciated.

TOSHIBA P750 BIOS PASSWORD REMOVAL

what I am trying to do is, remove the pasword from my toshiba p750, everytime i start my computer it keeps asking for password and its headache to type it everytime, I do know the password and it lets me change it, but when going to BIOS F2 it does not give me the option to remove it or to delete it, just change it, even to reset to default f9 does not do anything.
anyone has any idea?

Hi This forum does not assist with BIOS passwords. You will have to have proof that you own the computer and contact Toshiba Support.

Bios Password on a Tecra A2

I want to setup a password that needs to be entered in order to make changes to the bios setup.
However when I try to do this the password is needed in order to boot the computer - which I do not want.
Unlike other computers I am unable to find a setting so that the password only effects setup (i.e. the BIOS) and not the system (i.e. when its booted up)
The security option within the toshiba console is unable to do this aswell, as it reports that the facility is not available on the computer.
Could someone please advise me on how to achieve this.

there are 2 ways to set 2 different password types!
There is the USER and SUPERVISOR PW. As far as I know you had used the User password to protecting the system. The Supervisor Password protects the BIOS!
Here is a short description:
To enable or set a registered password:
The following procedure will enable/set a BIOS password, which will subsequently be required when cold booting the computer or when using the reset function to boot the computer.
Power up the computer from an "off" state with the ESC key depressed. The unit will display "Check system. Then press the (F1) key."
Release the ESC key, then press the F1 key. This will set the unit to the BIOS setup screen.
Using the arrow or tab keys, move to the password field, and highlight NOT REGISTERED.
Press the SPACEBAR, enter the password at the "Password = " prompt, and then press ENTER. The computer will prompt for the password again (verification). Type in password and press enter. At this point, the password field will change to REGISTERED. Subsequent boots will now require the password.
Press END to save and "Y" to exit.

Portege M300 BIOS password removal

We from UsedPC a company in Holland thats sell second handed Notebooks en Computers just bought 4 of Toshiba Portege M300
We only have one problem on all of the machines, They are locked with an start up password ( bios password ) so we cant install them
Only we need the responses codes that we dont know.

BIOS password ist most sensible security feature and you cannot expect help in public forum where everyone should find out how it works.
Then every stolen Portege M300 can be unlocked.
What I can say is that unlocking method is pretty complicated and just authorized service can help you with this. Even they don't have these codes. Just Toshiba can send them codes following specific procedure.
So forget it. Go to service, show evidence that notebooks are not stolen and they will help you with this. Of course it will not be for free.

It was recently purchased two secondhand laptops Toshiba Tecra A8with serial numbers Y6091612H and Y6091296H. Both were passworded (there is no opportunity even to go into the BIOS). On the Internet I found the information that it may reset the password using the response code.

As far as I know Toshiba uses several methods for BIOS password removal and one of them is based on entering response code.
With other words Toshiba service provider sends unique code to Toshiba and after short period of time ASP receives response code that can unlock certain notebook.
With other words: notebook owner cannot do this on its own. It can be done by Toshiba service only.

As you can see there is no much to do and only service can help you. I am really wondering that people here believe that removing CMOS battery will help. It is not the desktop and some things on laptops work a little bit different.
One more thing for you and all people who want to remove BIOS alone. BIOS password removing procedure is not the same for all notebook models. For some models it is so complicated and works similar like on mobile phone. To delete existing password you need to enter special generated code using special tools.
Please contact nearest service provider in your country and they will help you. If the notebook is your private property and if you are owner it should not be the problem.

If the unit prompts for the BIOS password, you need to call up support to report this issue. You will need to send across the POP (Proof of purchase) for your notebook, and most likely the unit needs to be sent in for a repair to have the BIOS password removed.

Portege R700 protected by unknown BIOS password

Can anyone help with this problem.
At our site we have approx 300 of these laptops and they are all bios protected.
Recently had a problem where when inputting the bios password and it says its incorrect even though its the standard password we use on all our laptops. The user also confirms they didn't set a password...
Is it possible for the bios to somehow have become currupted (the machine was experiencing blue screens before) or how can I factory reset the bios password.
Before anyone says yes we own the machince and can prove it!

Maybe it sounds stupid but I think you should clarify this with nearest Toshiba service provider.
I use Toshiba notebooks for years now and I know for sure that Toshiba doesnt sell notebooks with any kind of password or such kind of protection.
If you have such amount of notebooks maybe there was some special dial about configuration or protection. Anyway, BIOS password removal cannot be theme on such public forum. BIOS password protection is very important security feature and if there is some problem it must be clarified with authorized Toshiba service provider.
BIOS password cannot be set or changed from alone and, as far as I know, there is no kind of factory reset. I just know that BIOS can be set to default settings. Thats all.
Contact nearest Toshiba service provider and clarify this issue.

A power on password is called a Bios password. You can go into the Bios and set it. Depending on the computer, there maybe just a user password or a supervisor password too. The password is there to prevent unauthorized people from accessing your computer or seeing your files. You can get the Bios password removed by going to a Toshiba Authorized Service Provider and having one of their Toshiba-trained techs remove the password. Two things to keep in mind. One, removing a Bios password is not covered under warranty, so expect to be charged. Two, have some sort of proof that the computer belongs to you. If you bring a computer and "can't remember" the password, how does the tech know that it wasn't stolen?
