BIOS problem? MSI Neo P35 F

Hi,
I need help regarding some problem.
My PC has the following specs:
Motherboard: MSI Neo P35 F
I replaced the old CPU (Intel Core 2 duo 2.13 Ghz, E6420) by a new one (Intel Quad Core Q9650).
From then, the pc didn't recognize the new CPU
so I updated the old BIOS with the latest version (2.1) according to recognize the new CPU.
Now the pc boots, recognizes the CPU, but BIOS does not have the AHCI options possible, and I always get a "no hard disk detected" kind of error.
I only have IDE available, not even RAID.
So I need the AHCI too, to get a good connection to my hard drive I read somewhere.
(so I need a modded bios for that I suppose, can I find that anywhere?)
Other problems to mention:
Each time I change something in BIOS, like time/date or boot sequence, and I save, he does not boot further...
Each time I want to reboot it, I have to remove battery in order to get him rebooted again. (it's new battery)
With some workaround (in GRUB, running a linux os), I can get the OS started, so the hard disk and OS still work fine. But when shutting down the computer, he doesn't boot the correct way, and have to remove battery again. So maybe the BIOS is corrupted, or the shutting down method is wrong?
What could be the problem? Could I solve it by a modded bios?

I sometimes get an error message: "no hard drive detected".
i don't expect changes
go in BIOS Setup and check if your HDD(s) are detected
if yes, adjust boot priority and make 1st boot the one who contain your OS
reisntall OS if needs

  • Does GTX295 VGA work with MSI Neo P35 mainboard?

I have a MSI Neo P35 mainboard (BIOS 1.A0) and GTX280 VGA. I think about changing the VGA to GTX295, but don't know if it will be compatible with my MB. Has anybody tested it yet? Or any information/thoughts?

The P35 has no PCI-Express 2.0 Support.  The video card should be downward compatible to the older standard, however, you may have some slight performance losses due to the bandwith limitations of the PCI-Express 1.0a Standard.
In short:  The card should work.  Just make sure that you PSU is strong enough (suffiant current limit (A) on the +12V voltage rail.  Post information about the rest of your system and have a look at the PSU sticker to write down the main specs (brand, model, current limits (A) on the main voltage rails (12V, 5V, 3.3V).

  • BIOS Problems with NEO 875 FISR2

I have a NEO 875 FISR2 motherboard I am trying to install.  At initial bootup a line comes up saying "BIOS not installed".  Of course windows XP will not boot up if their is no bios but a screen will come up saying that windows has noticed hardware changes and asks if i want to start the computer normally or in safe mode.  When i press delete and enter the AMI bios screen I set it to normal low performance factory defaults through the default bios settings button.  I save and exit but still no luck, windows still asks if i want to start in safe mode and auto reboots when it cannot start windows whereupon the same message "BIOS not installed" pops up again.  I've tried everything I can think of with no luck.  the mobo didnt come with a BIOS reinstall disk either.  Thanks in advance for any help on this topic.

:wall:YEP; TRY TO REPAIR I know it stinks, but this USUALLY HAPPENS when installing such a critical componant like a MO-BO. That is why it is recomended to do a clean install when swapping a MO-BO..Sean REILLY875

  • Microphone problem - MSI NEO FIS2r

    Hi all,
My microphone is not working anymore :
    Situation :
    - Realtek_ALC5970 installed
    - Mic muted in Volume control
    - Mic selected in Recording control
    - When I use the wizard via control panel > sounds and audio devices I can not increase the mic volume, it automatically drops to the lowest level
    - When I try to record sound, I have this :
    - I tried installing Via Vinyl Codec, and got this :
    - The mic works, I tested it on another computer
Can anyone give me some tips ?

    - Mic Boost is unchecked
    - Already uninstalled Realtek driver and installed Via Vinyl Coded. No result
    - even installed realtek over Vinyl Codec (read it on another forum). no result
    - Installed realtek driver on a clean windows 64-bit installation. mic not working
    - mic is plugged in completely
    I got once a small result :
    - turned of Mute mic in volume control
    - selected stereo mixer in recording control
Then I heard myself through the speakers, but my correspondent heard me 'far away'
I am not able to reproduce that however. But that gives me some hope that it has to do with drivers, but I have no ideas left of installing and uninstalling them.

  • Problem with NEO 875P FISR2 BIOS v1.8

    Hello,
I own a MSI NEO 8750 FISR2 mainboard and really like it
a lot. I just recently updated the BIOS to version 1.8
(which I obtained from MSI website). The updation went
on successfully. Windows seemed to be working fine. But
all of my 3D games became very slow. I tested the
performance under 3D Mark 2001 SE and the results had
been cut down by half! Here's the configuration of my PC:
    Intel Pentium 4 - 2.4 GHz
    MSI Mainboard NEO 875P FISR2
512 MB DDR - 266 MHz (single dimm)
    MSI Ti4800SE-VTD8X Graphics Card
Western Digital 80.0 GB UATA Hard Drive
Creative SoundBlaster Live 5.1 Sound Card
    Windows XP Service Pack 1
I re-flashed the BIOS back to version 1.7 and everything
    became fast again!
I don't know the reason for this but surely the update
doesn't suit me. Can you tell me what is it that I'm
doing wrong and whether I should stick to the old
    version.
    Regards,
    Kamran

I installed the Intel INF update both from the supplied CD and from the website. It doesn't indentify the Intel SATA controller. When I install the Intel Aplication Accelerator RAID Edition, it halts at the start of the setup and exits by displaying a message. I can't recall the message exactly, but it was something like "Chipset not supported ..." I have tried to set the mode to both Legacy and Native but still no results.
Do I need to connect a hard drive to the Intel SATA controller in order to get it detected in Windows? And while I was going through the manuals, I saw a setup menu for Intel SATA controller (similar to Promise controller) before the PC boots to the OS. It doesn't appear in my PC. The Promise menu appears and I can use the Promise controller without problems. At first I thought that either the Intel or the Promise controller can work at one time. So, I disabled the Promise controller. It was no use. It just seems to appear that the Intel controller is simply absent !
Wondering if the samething has happened to anyone else?

  • Power of the Press - MSI Neo4 SLI Bios Problem

For those interested, I just sent this to hardocp because they did the review on the MSI SLI Platinum.  Since MSI headlines this review on their website, maybe hardocp can do something about this bios problem.  Enjoy and please send more emails to hardocp so we can get this problem addressed!  Believe me, Ive seen this works with washington politicians, I know it can work if we all do it.
I appreciate companies like yours doing extensive reviews about products.  However, your review caused me and a whole bunch of others to purchase this board with enormous problems associated with it (check out the msi forums).  The problem is that this board works only for 130nm chips in which you tested on.  On the newer amd 90nm chips, this board is the worst performing sli board out in the marketplace (for both winni and venice core chips).  You need to do something to stop people from buying this board because its just awful and the folks from MSI are silent on the subject.
It's gotten so bad that people have gone out and purchased other sli boards, transferred all of the equipment out of it and into the new one and guess what...voila, no problems.  Anyway, some of those in the other user forums had the same problem but those other manufacturers quickly fixed the problem.  Its just getting worse and worse.  I feel like both msi (and I am MAD) and reviewers like you (unless you don't know about the problem) are silent on this and its cost me hard earned MONEY ($175 for the mobo) and hours and hours of time...
You have a LOT OF POWER with MSI and I can see it because they headline your review on their website (power of the press).   For Gods sake, please do something before others make the same mistake or if you can get MSI to allocate resources to fix the problem...you would be HEROs!  Thank you.

Ok, I guess I am confused some, where is the issue with the new cores? I have no issues running the San Diego core and the my memory at the listed and published speeds.....

Also is your MOBO the SLI type? I run the SLI Neo4 with a San Diego core without any issues. In fact I dropped it in and booted using the San Diego as a direct replacement for a older (if 6 months is old!!) 3500. I have OC'ed with Corecetner as far as I can push it and runs awesome!

GUys, I am not sure exactly what issues you are experiencing as there can be MANY factors! But my SLI Neo is running awesome! It overclocks (no Tiresmoke, i won't go into that in this forum  ) and has NEVER once BSOD, or rebooted or even crashed! Not once and I push the crap out of this as it is my gaming box.  Also TS you are SO correct on the clock settings on the ultras, you gotts make sure they are the same or it will cause issues. The only thing I am kinda bummed about is the lack of real performance with the dual 6800 Ultra's, but that is a Nvidia issue not MSI. Guys I may be blessed, but I have run three Neo MSI brds, 2 939 and 1 754 and never had any issues....

Look, I have already been threatened to be banned because of my sarcastic replies to you.  Read every one of your responses I listed.  Obviously OTHERS are having problems.  WHY don't you help them instead of TAUNTING people that yours works.  They are upset, and you make them feel dumb like it's their fault.
Man I have tried to contribute so much to this issue that at least 20 different members here are having, I have tested with an Asus SLI board, I have tried different BIOS's and posted results, I have theorized with others and I feel like you are slapping me in the face by restating time and time again "what problem mine works great"i
I'm on a verbal warning because I didn't have respect for you.  Well how are you respecting the other people who have problems by saying you don't know what their issue is.  Read up on it or help them, instead of creating tension. Please?

    Good afternoon.
Why on my mainboard msi neo2 P35 fir (v1.0),after I have updated bios 1.7 (1.9,1.10)I cannot raise up voltages of processor???
i can atjust only from 1.5volt to 1.9volt??? but i want do a little overlock of my e8400 C0 and raise up voltages to 1.2v or 1.3v...
all people who have e8400 have same problem...but who have quad core all is good, they can atjust from 1.2volt to 2.0volt
so pls fix up 1.10 vesrion of bios or what

"Clear CMOS with main A/C power cable removed from PSU.  After that load "Optimized Defaults" in BIOS."
    1. after that INTEL EIST is Enabled and now default cpu voltages 1.22v ,and i can set from 1.24 to 2.0125v..and  there is no AUTO mode...(auto mode only in memory voltage and VTT voltage)
    2. and after intel eist is enabled i can set cpu clock ratio this option is disabled.....
    3. and i still cannot set cpu voltage to 1.14 1.15 1.16 1.17 1.18 1.19 1.20
4 when intel eist is disabled default cpu voltages is 1.500v but all utilities like CPUZ show 1.135 cpu voltages its ok , but when EIST is enabled default voltages are 1.22v and all utilities show that tempreture is 1.200v...its not ok...
or if i dont want to overclock my cpu i must set eist disabled ? and if i want to overclock cpu i must set eist enabled...and after that set cpu voltages to 1.2v or more...yes or no? ;/ and why if eist enabled clock ratio option is disabled? only way its manually set fsb clock,or its should be like that?

BIOS v7.4b2 is a BETA-Release of the BIOS-Series that prepares the upcoming v7.4 Final Version. It is not available for public download and MSI Live Update is not programmed to find it for you.
Also, as every Windows based flash is inherently risky and much more dangerous than any DOS based flashing mething, I suggest you do not use MSI Live Update for BIOS Updates.  Unless you are prepared and ready to face the increased risk of a bad flash resulting from using this tool, it is in your own best interest to choose a flashing procedure that will update the BIOS from a plain DOS environment.
I have uploaded the 7.4b2-BIOS (BETA) in the following post.  Flash it at your own risk!

  • Bios 1.9 on P35 Platinum Problems

As i stated, I recently purchased a 8400 cpu and I'm having issues with the bios.  No matter what I do I can't get the bios to change my ram settings from 5 4 4 12, I am running 4x1gig of crucial ram.  I have tried to change it manually and let the bios due it in auto and it always goes back to this setting.  Is there another bios update on the horizon for this issue?

It seems that there is another beta bios in msi site (A7345IMS.P09 / 2008-08-06), but why don't you try v1.8 ?. When I had 4 x 1GB I could set the memory at 4-4-4-12 without any problem.
Just downgraded the bios to 1.8 and no change.

  • MSI NEO 3 P45 PROBLEM

    Hi guys,
I have an MSI NEO 3 P45 with a Q6600, geforce 8800 gtx, and 4 gigs of OCZ ram which can run up to 1066MHZ. My southbridge is on auto, northbridge is on 1,2 VOlt and FSB voltage is at 1,3. My cpu voltage is at 1,46 voltage and my cpu is overclocked to 3 ghz.
Sometimes when i overclock my cpu, it works on the first boot perfectly but then i have problems in booting and it says that it cannot read my harddrive. THen i have to reset the cmos and start again. it is very annoying. do you guys think that the northbridge is damaged?

I agree with loonym,1.46 seems way too high for only 3ghz on a Q6600...Ive never overclocked a quad yet but i think 3ghz is easily obtained with stock volts (or a very small increase in volts)
I also agree that there is no way you damaged your NB (at least the chances are extremely little)
Ive done a google search for the PSU you listed and came back with this .....(Voltage max +5V-30A...+12 V1/V2-16A/16A....+12 V3/V4 16A/16A)
if this is your PSU than it says your +12v rails are @ only 16amps (this is extremely low for just running your system nevermind overclocking)
you need to get a new PSU ASAP if you want to overclock...If I was you I would get a new PSU ASAP regardless and get something that's a single rail PSU with a +12v rail above 30amps...the corsair vx/tx are great choices and we have seen many many people switch to these in the last year(  not a single complaint yet )
regardless of the PSU I would definitely remove your overclock and start again.....how did you come to this overclock?....did you do it correctly by slowly raising FSB while running stability tests? or did you just crank it up to 3ghz and throttle it with volts till it booted?
I'm positive that your overclock is unstable...and this is the heart of all problems
another question: what kind of cooling do you have?
