BIOS Recovery procedure for Satellite A505-S6005 PSAT6U. How I do it?

Hi there!
I have a Toshiba A505-S6005 PSAT6U and have an update corrupted while update the BIOS of my laptop.
Since that time my laptop overheated and I want to lower it to version 1.3, ie the above that worked well.
During the upgrade process, my laptop was turned off and then started, but too hot.
What would be the process of recovering a BIOS in case of crisis, not boot after updating the BIOS?
Thanks in advance.
Best regards.

  • Recovery DVD's for Satellite A505-S6005

Hi, I've just bought this laptop and it hadn't occurred to me that I should make the recovery discs until after I've uninstalled some of the trial programs and messed with the settings. If I create a recovery disc now, would it still turn the laptop into its out-of-box state or would it just turn it to the way my computer is at the point where I made the recovery disc?
I suppose it doesn't really matter, but I would like to know.
Also, is it possible to use the recovery disc without logging in to a user? Like having it inside the disc drive and pressing a certain key as it turns on.
And is it possible to turn this laptop into its out-of-box state without the disc, as long as there aren't problems like viruses and the like?

the recovery data is all on separate partitons. it doesnt matter what has been changed before you make the recovery media. but MAKE IT NOW!
to use the recovery media just hit F12 during boot and then select to boot to dvd drive first.
to do the recovery using the hd partitions instead of the disks hold zero above P during boot.

  • Problem with windows 7 on a Satellite A505-S6005

About a year ago I bought that model, everything worked fine, sound, video, everything.
About 2 or 3 months a nasty virus attacked my laptop and I had to reinstall the windows 7 home premium 64 bits.
And after reinstalling the OS I downloaded and installed all the drivers, but the Problem I came up with is that although I installed the drivers I couldn't make use of any programs that required the use of the graphic card, I would really like some help with this Problem, because I really need to use the graphic card for some programs at the university help please.

I had to reinstall the windows 7 ... I downloaded and installed all the drivers
Your best bet is to restore the hard disk to its original out-of-the-box contents using Toshiba recovery media.
If you don't have the recovery partition and you didn't burn recovery discs, then order the discs from Toshiba.

  • Satellite A505-S6005 wont boot up

    Let me expain what happened.
I graduated yesterday and as a graduation present I recieved this laptop. I have only had it for about 1 day and it already crashed. My father was helping me install some security software called Panda. After installing it we had to shut the computer down for it to take effect. It took forever to start back up and sat at the welcome screen for about an hour. This morning I was able to use it just fine but then shut it off to conseve power and so I could go do something else. When I came back to it the screen still said it was shutting down. My father used to work for a computer company and told me to hold down the power button and turn it off. So I did. Ever since then it will take me to the Windows is starting page (I have windows 7) and it will sit there for hours on end then the screen will go black. I have tried restarting it but it will not let me start it in safemode. The number lock will work but it is delayed. I know it is not completely dead because the number lock works. Please please help me. I'm desperate. I dont have a back up disk or anything. I was going to do that today but then this happened.

It may very well be a hardware problem, in which case you would want to return the computer right away.
But first try restoring the hard disk to its original factory-new state using Toshiba recovery media. See the section Recovering to out-of-box state (recommended recovery method) starting on p. 61 of the User's Guide.

  • Restoring a Toshiba Satellite A505 S6005 Drivers

    Hello,
I've just wiped my dad's computer, deleted the partition, created another one, reinstalled Windows 7 Home Premium SP1, and am looking for drivers to install. I went to Intel's website and installed the Intel Driver Update Utility. I've been able to update the Intel Display drivers just fine but I need all the rest of the drivers for the laptop motherboard.
I've found the drivers area on the support portion of this website. I'm looking for a zipped folder that will contain an .exe file that will install the needed drivers. Does anyone know if something like this exists or if I could be pointed to the correct files?  The list of device's that need drivers are indescript in the Device Manager.
    Thanks for your help!

I'm looking for a zipped folder that will contain an .exe file that will install the needed drivers.
No such thing. In addition, the order of installation matters. Why struggle? When you restore the hard disk to its original out-of-the-box contents using Toshiba recovery media all of the drivers and utilities are properly loaded. And Windows is preactivated.
If you failed to burn recovery discs, you can obtain them from Toshiba. Scroll down to Get Recovery Media here .
For instructions, see the section Restoring from recovery DVDs/media, which begins on p. 70 of the User's Guide.

Could somebody verify that procedure is correct, or pass correct one?
Recovery procedures for s10, mini, ... didn't work also.

I found some info on the Toshiba US site but nothing about BIOS designed for the European laptops.

  • BIOS recovery process for HP systems with AMI BIOS?

    Hi,
I'm trying to fix an HP a6718uk model PC which has an M2N78-LA motherboard and (I think) and AMI BIOS.  A BIOS update that came through HP Update has failed, and the machine will not boot.
As it's out of warranty the HP Repair Centre want £200.00 to fix it, even though a simple BIOS recovery process should be sufficient - does anyone know the BIOS recovery process for these systems?   Everything I've read (not specific to these boards) says you should be able to put a BIOS update (called AMIBOOT.ROM) on either a floppy, CD, or USB memory stick, and boot holding down Ctrl-Home and it will perform the recovery, but I've not been able to get this to work successfully.  HP don't supply a standalone update so I've extracted the file from the BIOS update SP.exe on the HP support site.
Any help would be most appreciated!
    Cheers,
    Andrew
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

Brilliant idea - I tried AMIBOOT.BIN and that didn't work, but then took the Hex Editor to the file - it's HPBIOS.ROM
Renamed the file to HPBIOS.ROM and all now works.
To recap for anyone reading the thread, this was from an HP machine with a corrupt AMI BIOS, to get it back, extract the ROM file from the SP.exe file from the HP website, rename it from VLE5.22 (or whatever the file is that ends in a numeric) to HPBIOS.ROM and copy onto a floppy diskette.   Put the floppy in the internal diskette drive (in my case a Sony OEM drive attached using a grey floppy ribbon cable) and boot the machine.  You may need to hold down Ctrl-Home, but not 100% sure.   After a long while the machine will give 4 or 5 beeps, and reset itself.  Once it's done that it will boot normally.
Thanks for your help David - much appreciated.
    Cheers,
    Andrew

  • Sound and Mouse Problem on Toshiba Satellite A505 S6005 - Related?

    Hello-
I bought my A505 back at the end of April and have had these two annoying problems that I have been trying to solve for about three plus months now.  The first started right out of the box as it were and it involves the sound "burping" at me periodically.  It's a hard sound to describe.  It's kind of like a digital croak or a stutter all rolled into one.  It now likes to do this exactly at midnight every night, when the CPU usage will spike, but I can't find anything running at that time (I don't have any virus scans, defrags, etc. set for that time).  High CPU usage normally doesn't cause this anyway - I'll be running how many programs and the sound will be fine.
My other problem is a recent one and that is that the mouse pointer will periodically just hang up for a few seconds every so often.  It's not a battery problem (I use a wireless Logitech) seeing as I keep it well fed and I tried using a wired mouse and got the same hang up.
Are these two problems related?  I've tried to find information on this but haven't found anything useful to me.  I've tried turning down the fancy settings on my Windows, turning of my webcam and microphone, everything.
I would greatly appreciate any help, thanks!

  • Downloading a Satellite A505-S6005 X64 Driver

After having used the recovery partition to set the computer back to factory default,
my computer inexplicably went from being a x64-bit to a x32-bit.
A friend told me to download the video driver, which I think is from this resource:
    http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/modelContent.jsp?ct=SB&os=&category=&moid=2515202& rpn=PSAT6U&modelFilter=A505-S6005&selCategory=2756709&selFamily=1073768663
I am not the most computer literate, though.
I have no idea which one(s) to select.
Please help, all. Thank you in advance.

    >my computer inexplicably went from being a x64-bit to a x32-bit.
I think you mixed up something.
I think your has installed the 32bit system instead of 64bit.
So in such case you have to repeat the recovery procedure once again to choose the 64bit system.
I hope you have created the recovery disk.

  • How to get a Recovery media for Satellite L305D S5900

I am a Ghanaian who bought a Toshiba laptop about seven months ago. The model is Satellite L305D S5900. I am also in Ghana. I found out from the documents that came with the laptop and your forum that I can order for Recovery media for it with no charge on the software itself.
How do I get this Recovery media for my machine as I am in a different country? What are the things involved?
    Thank You.

Your T500 can burn CD's at the least and if you can access Windows, you should be able to burn a set of recovery discs.
Other than that, I suggest calling support to see what they can do to help. The number in the U.S. is 1-800-426-7378.

  • What is right Recovery CD for Satellite L300?

I recently bought "Toshiba Satellite L300" which had Windows 7 operating system but the Recovery CDs had Windows XP.
And my hard disk was single partition and Microsoft office was not working on this notebook and I used that CD to fix these problems.
But I lost my previous Windows 7.
Now it is Windows Xp SP 3 on my computer.
But I am not satisfied with XP want Windows 7.
How can i get it again for free?
Please let me know that what is right Recovery CD for "Toshiba Satellite L300". ?

    >I recently bought "Toshiba Satellite L300" which had Windows 7 operating system but the Recovery CDs had Windows XP.
Hmm this is strange I have no clue what Satellite L300 this is but usually an L300 series was preinstalled with Vista Home Premium
So Im wondering why Win 7 was preinstalled and why you get Win XP recovery disk
Usually the L300 should be equipped with an HDD recovery partition which would contain the Toshiba image.
It should be able to recover the new notebook using the HDD recovery and this should help you reinstall the Vista OS.
In my opinion you should talk with your dealer maybe the notebook was a replacement device????
    Who knows

  • Backup and Recovery procedures for production system

I am trying to decide and test a best backup/recovery approach for our DBXML database in the production environment. Right now I am trying to go through the documentation.
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/documentation/berkeley-db/db/gsg_txn/CXX/filemanagement.html
What is the best option among offline, hot and incremental backups?
I am thinking of implementing incremental backups.
What are the constraints in implementing incremental backups? Is there a detailed step by step example to do this?
Can I test the backup and recovery procedures by copying the db files and log files from Linux (production) environment to my local machine (Windows XP)? I see only one log.00000000xx file in production and staging environments. It is of same size 52428800 in all our environments (both production and staging) at this point of time.
What is __db.001 file? What is the significance of this file in backup and recovery procedures?
A detailed input with example is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advancs

    Raghu,
A couple of points, up front:
    1. the __db* files are the environment (cache, locks, various shared memory regions), and are not part of backup, other than the fact that you need to checkpoint or otherwise flush your cache to your database(s) for a full backup.
    2. log files are not architecture-neutral. That is you can't use a log file created on linux and just use it safely on another hardware platform. It's OK to copy them around, but they can only be used on the same architecture that created them. Database files (containers) are entirely portable among hardware and operating system platforms.
I don't know of a step-by-step cookbook for backups. This is because of the variations among application needs. However, the procedures described on this page are pretty straightforward:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/documentation/berkeley-db/db/gsg_txn/CXX/backuprestore.html
I'm not sure what you mean by "constraints" on incremental backups. The only constraint is that you need to have a full backup first, or you won't be able to recover properly. Based on what I said above, the other constraint is that you'll only be able to recover on a machine of the same architecture as the one that created the log files.
As for testing, you can certainly copy your database and log files to your Windows machine, treating Windows as an offline backup. If you want to test recovery, you need to copy the files back to Linux. You'll start seeing additional log files when your log data starts to exceed the configured log file size.
Let me know if you need more clarification,
    Regards,
    George
