BIOS Setup/System Reset

In attempting to reset my laptop, I came across an article to go to the "BIOS" setup option by pressing f10, however it asked for an admin password, but I've never created an admin password. Now it reads "System Disabled" with the code 93090077

Hope my response didn't seem sarcastic. I was being serious...when it comes to computers, I'm pretty lost! I barely know what BIOS or CMOS means and definitely have no idea what UEFI is. Lol. I was just hoping someone could tell me why I am getting the error message I mentioned above. I assume it has to do with me replacing the RTC battery because I have never seen that message until after that.OK, no nothing wrong if one is lost on the Computer terminologies. CMOS was used in the computer past for storing your BIOS settings changes and if one accidentally shorted the CMOS reset pins all BIOS settings were lost and one had to reconfigure the BIOS settings again. BIOS is the Basic Input and Output Settings of how your system internals are configured with limited changes the users can do like boot options devices to time and date changes and to HDD password lock. UEFI is the newer BIOS update and allow realtime changes to be done on the Windows Desktop but in UEFI settings and the GUI (graphics user Interface) is more user friendly to use and make changes and updates to. Are you sure the CMOS battery that was replaced was on working order? And what messages did you get before that lead you to change the CMOS battery?

  • Z87-G43, can't enter the BIOS Setup, system is not running

    Hi everyone,
I was working with my pc for about 2 months. Since the very first day i had few problems with mobo but now i can't even run the system and enter the bios. First of all, i had problem with running the system after disabled the MSI logo. I had to enebled it again, because it was the only way to turn on PC (bios stopped at the screen with black screen and a2 code) but it was about 1 month ago. I also remember that from the very beginning option "Hardware Monitor" wasn't working, i mean bios was freezing too and i had to restart PC. Furthermore i have noticed that after choosing language to Polish, few more options in "Settings" appeared, but after switching language back to english they were gone. Unfortunately i can't say now, which one it was because now i got the biggest problem...
BIOS is not running at all. I mean, it all stops with A2 code in right bottom corner of the screen. I can't even enter the bios setup. It shows "Setup is preparing to start" or something like that, but it doesn't run... Can't do nothing atm. BIOS version was the latest - 1.6 . It all started to happening when i had entered to option in bios with disabling or enabling MSI logo, i didn't choose nothing, it freezed, i have resterted PC, and now i nothing is running...  Btw sometimes, i coudn't run the system and bios was freezeing also, if my TL-WN722N wasn't connected to USB port in front case's panel. But now, whenever Tp-LINK is connected or not, it's not running...

A2 is IDE detect <--- that is a HDD/SSD problem or its cable (try a different one)
if the above doesn't work try to foll0w >>Clear CMOS Guide<< do that to reset the BIOS to defaults with power cord removed from your PSU!
after performing the above steps make sure you enter BIOS and reset the SATA mode (AHCI/IDE/RAID to what you installed your os at) and boot order to your SSD first!
Ye that's the reason, I have a new brand 1tb sata 3 where I installed the windows, but the old 320gb sata 2 is causing the same error, so I have to remove the cables from the sata 2 hdd, than the pc boots ok. I shutdown & reatach the old drive & evrething works untill the PC enters stand by again.

  • Can´t enter bios setup/system does not boot

    Hi,
I got a problem with my new KT6 Delta MS-6590 board.
Sometimes after a prog is crashed and its better to restart windows, my System doesn´t boot anymore. It hangs after searching RAID-Disks. The Broadcom Dialog does not appear and the System stands. When I try to reset and would like to get into the bios setup I can´t enter it. The Delete Key do not work. After clearing cmos and going on with default values the systems works correctly until the next crash.
    The bracket says "Boot attempt"
Whats the problem please help  ?(

  • K8N Neo3 Unable to use keyboard in BIOS setup

    System info:
    1 gig memory
AGP GeForce FX 5500 128 MB DDR AGP 8X
    AMD Sempron 3000+
I start up the system and I hit del key to get into the bios setup, the BIOS setup screen appears but when I hit enter key on my keyboard nothing happens, I tried several other keyboards with the same results.  If I do not hit the del key at start up it asks me to hit the F1 key which I do and I get no response???
The memory and CPU info comes up at boot and no problem there??
    Please advise, many thanks

  • System Resets itself after about 1 to 2 hours use

    Hi guys,
I had setup my system for about 2 months now.  Bios is version 1.90.
I encountered my system resetting itself without warning, sometimes after 1 to 2 hours use, sometimes, even 30 minutes use.  I am using Intel CPU stock fan and getting startup CPU temperature of 44 deg C and about 50 deg C after a few hours use.  Sometimes, the system is stopped and shows the blue screen warning.  A warm reset brings my system back up again.
    Suspect:
    1.  Since I have many peripherals, I am worried about my PSU whether it is able to take it.  The power calculator at http://www.adecy.com/psu/ recommended 570W.  No way to get that man!  I am willing to consider a new PSU of maximum 480W (within my budget) but if it means that I can continue to use the current PSU but with risk of shortened lifespan, I'm ok to stick to this.
    2.  Maybe the Y-Connectors cables might becomes loose sometimes.  Thinking of changing the cables to better tight fitting ones (difficult to find though).
    3.  Overclocking - Don't think so because if I didnot remember wrongly, even at 2.8GHz without o/c, the sudden resets did happen before.
Hope someone can give me a suggestion.  Thanks in advance.
    System Configuration:1.  Mobo 875P Neo-Fis2R
    2.  Intel PIV 2.8c --> 3.03GHz (FSB = 217)
    3.  DOT: Capturn
    4.  PAT: Fast
    5.  Kingston 2.5CL ram, 2 sticks of 512MB
    6.  2MB Cache 120GB hdd to ICH5R as raid 0 using HighPoint's RocketHead convertors
    7.  Seagate SATA 80GB Hdd to Promise 378 raid 1
    8.  WDC 800JB 80GB Hdd to Promise 378 raid 0
    9.  Intel OEM modem
    10.  Canopus Storm 2 PCI card
    11.  Enermax Power Supply 350W,
    +5 V = 32A
    +12 V = 17A
    +3.3V = 32A
    -5 V = 1A
    -12 V = 1A
    -3.3V = 2.2A

When you use the calculator, you have to decide how much you want to load your system up. Eg you have 8 USB ports, how many to you actually use?
This is what I calculated (guessed at the fans):
    Recommended PSU: 401W (151W on +3.3v & +5v rails) for:
-1 x Motherboard without onboard devices
-4 x Fans (including PSU fans)
    -8 x Memory (128MB DDR)
    -1 x Graphic Card
    -1 x with powerful 3D Accelerator
    -3 x HDD
    -1 x Keyboard
    -1 x Mouse
    -CPU: Intel P4 (2.8D GHz 0.13 µm µPGA478 @ 1.525 V with HTT)
The 350W PSU does look on the light side. I don't have a good feel for the Canopus Storm 2 PCI card. Looked it up and it looks like it probably draws as much power as a top end video card. Also, the CPU power requirement goes up with overclocking.

  • NB200-110 won't boot nor allow BIOS setup

    Hi there
I am new on the forum and this is my first post.
I am helping my dad with the troubleshooting of its mini notebook.
    Model is NB 200 - 110.
For a few months, the notebook has been having hard time to boot.
But after several trials, it would normally finally boot and work normally.
Two weeks ago the notebook will no longer boot at all.
When powering on, you can hear some noise ( HD or Fan ?? ) then the "Toshiba Leading Innovation" screen will show up, but it won't pass this point.
On the lower part of the screen you are prompted to press F2 to enter the BIOS setup or F12 to modify the booting devices, but it won't answer to none of the keys ( like if no keyboard present ).
I guess some of the hardware is failing, but is there a way to know what part exactly ?
Thank in advance for your help.
    Jean-Christophe

Hi Dr. Lamp and thank you for your answer. Though when I read it I already have solved the problem.
    Lets me explain how.
Since I made the post yesterday I have been "googling" and find some interesting topics in several forums ( including this one ).
Even if it looks strange, basically the steps to follow are :
1/ place the notebook in the freezer for about 10 minutes, then start it. It should now boot correctly
2/ update the Bios to the latest version ( in my case v2.20, can be dowloaded from Toshiba support page )
Well, I have done it and it works !!
I have been able to restart the computer normally afterward.
Now, I am really curious. What can be the relationship between a sotware issue ( Bios is software right ? ) and a physical ( hardware ) solution. For cooling the notebook in the freezer definitely has physical "impact" on the system, and this allows it to boot correctly, but then, updating the Bios is fixing something in the software side....
    Any logical explanation ?
Anyway, even if the mystery remains ( mystery is good sometime...), the good thing is that the notebook is now up and running.
I will update the post tomorrow to let you know if the computer is still running well.
    Best regards and thanks again,
    Jean-Christophe

  • Cannot enter BIOS setup

I bought a new msi amd motherboard it cannot go into cmos BIOS setup it just says entering setup and it doesnt go any further, I have the pc down to barebones memory cpu and msi board.
I have reset bios CMOS with jumper and battery out several times same problem.
Will flashing the bios fix this problem or could it be that I found the memory is 1.65 volt and should of been 1.5 volt thought everything was recognized and working until windows7 said it completed its installation.
Edited title, correct terminology is BIOS setup not CMOS.

I have the same issue. After having pressed the Del key during booting up -  the computer hangs with "Entering Setup" shown in the bottom left of the screen.

  • Why does VersaMail cause system reset after HotSync?

On a clean factory default setup Treo 650, I can set up one account -- my SprintPCS account -- on VersaMail and successfully use VersaMail to download and send emails. Thanks in advance for help on this, PalmOne. SprintPCS technical support has absolutely no experience as yet on this sort of problem. I was on the line for over an hour covering the same ground I had before calling them. Because this is related to two PalmOne software products -- HotSync and VersaMail, I figure you guys would have a better idea where to start troubleshooting and ultimately resolving this.
    Thanks again!

let's see... digging back into the memory banks here...
I think I went to www.palmgear.com, and searched for filez, and found it there. to be more specific about your question, though, are you asking how to install files to palm in general (i doubt that just from reading your thread), or rather how to find the filez file in the first place?
for ease, anyway, here's the URL for filez
    http://www.palmgear.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=software.showsoftware&PartnerREF=&siteid=1&prodID=9992
strange, too - and you might watch out for this if you have agendus installed on your treo - now when i click on the calendar button next to the phone button, the palm does a soft reset - VERY annoying. I haven't gone through the trouble of finding a fix for that one yet, but will search one of these days...

  • Where is the BIOS setup? - Satellite Pro 490XCDT

my wife has a pre-historic notebook 490XCDT and yesterday she came home with a brand new WLAN card
    >> please, best husband of the world, install this <<
she said, and now its me who struggels for hours with this sh...notebook :/
it might help if I could get into BIOS settings, but when I press ESC during power on, this model just say:
    >> check system and press F1 <<
If I do so, the "system" boots (WIN98) and no BIOS setup is available
what can I do? (exept recycling, devorce, etc...)
    Jake

    Hi
I agree with you. This unit is pretty old.
Are you sure that your wireless LAN card is compatible with your unit?
Which card did you use? minPCI or PCMCIA WLan?
You have suggested that your unit is preinstalled with Win 98 OS. Well, Im sure that you need also a right driver.
As far as I know the ESC is a right button to enter the BIOS but check other possibilities; F2 or F12.

  • T540p: BIOS setup not starting

    Hi,
I have a brand new T540p with Windows 8.1. I did all configurations needed, Windows is working.
    Problem:
Pressing F1-Key (+ Fn or not) during system start doesn´t start the BIOS-Setup. Instead Windows is starting.
    My questions are...
    - Is there any problem with my T540p?
    - How can I start the ThinkPad BIOS-Setup?
    - If it is not possible to use the ThinkPad BIOS-Setup: What are the alternatives to configure BIOS?
    Thanks a lot!

Holding Shift while invoking reboot from within Windows will get you to the appropriate "Choose an option" screen as well.

  • HP Pavilion DV6-3029tx Cannot Access BIOS Setup

Hello there, I have used this laptop for nearly two years, if I remember correctly.
Basically, the problem is that I want to disable Function key, but I cannot access BIOS setup.
I have tried every combination of keys at start-up screen, from ESC to F10, none of them worked.
So I thought maybe an BIOS update can solve the problem (My current version is F.07), I downloaded firmware from HP support site and run it, know what, the screen flashed and system get restarted, but nothing had changed, I didn't get even an error message.
The problem is actually found by a HP supporter when I send my laptop for cleaning last year, he didn't manage to fix it at the time and problem became devastating for me lately because certain software I am using rely heavily on function keys. The only things "big" I have ever done to my laptop were updating windows 7 Home to Ultimate (32-bit) and partition, I am not sure if they were the reason.

  • BIOS setup menu is missing in my G580 after installing fedora....

    Dear sir,
    I bought a Lenovo G580 [59337032] laptop about a month ago.
It had no OS installed. I installed Fedora 17 in it.
But after installing Fedora, I can't be able to access the BIOS setup menu by pressing F2.
And also my boot order rearranged.
While pressing F12 during boot, the boot devices list appears.
But the first entry is Fedora, 2nd is Ethernet, 3rd is HDD, 4th is DVD drive.
I found a similar problem in this forum. But the solution [disconnect the HDD and press F2 during boot]
of that problem did not work in my case.
I also deleted the recovery partion of lenovo.
    My BIOS version is 62CN34WW
How can I fix my BIOS?
    Now my OS is Windows7.

    Dear Sirs!
Have the absolutely same problem with one difference - installed OS was Ubuntu 9.04.
According to recomendation HDD mode was setted as "сompatible" (IDE). After rearranging
disk to 3 parts: /, /swap and /user/home and setting up system I have find that BIOS setup
are unaccessible and system won't boot up (Non system disk error).
From LiveCD and USB, both Ubuntu and Windows XP SP3 system boots and work fine,
    HDD read/write accesible.
Local serviceman told, that they have no possibility to reprogram BIOS flash by themselves

  • Satellite 1400-103: Cannot access the BIOS Setup

I'm having problems getting into the BIOS setup. At the 1st bootup screen I press ESC key then message appears Check system. Then press F1 key. Once key is pressed it doesn't take me to BIOS setup and laptop reboots. Any help will be much appreciated.

No it doesn't. There is a problem with the OS and I was gonna do a repair using an XP disk. I have been trying to boot from cd rom by pressing C button and I've also tried pressing F12 key to change boot device. The teacher whose laptop it is has put a bios password on bootup but I'm assuming this shouldn't affect bootup or accessing the bios setup. I'm not sure if it's a supervisor password or administrator password.
