BIOS startup password

My daughter uses a Mini 311 laptop and a guy friend of hers was messing with it. He enabled a bootup password and now we can not get in. I have already been down the route of asking the pot head but he "doesnt remember the password".  I get a System Disabled screen after 3 tries with a code 67700568. What steps do I need to take to bypass this?

    Hey guys,

  • Forgot startup password

    Forgot startup password

It is not so simply as you think. If BIOS password must be reset it must be done by authorized service and you must also prove that your notebook belongs to you.
As far as I know there are different techniques for BIOS password removal. I dont know which one will be used for your notebook but fact is that they will not tell you this so simply at phone or mail.
You must bring your notebook to the service.
Call nearest service and ask for help. They will explain you how it works.

  • Satellite C855D-16V - BIOS & HDD Password - Need some information

Hi - just bought a new C855D-16V, wiped the Windows 8 OS and installed Windows 7. I see that the BIOS has options for BIOS and HDD passwords, and I would like to use one of these to secure my data.
I am looking for a detailed explanation of how they work, what effect they have, how reliable and secure they are. Does HDD password protect the disk if removed and mounted on a Linux system, for example? Is it possible to export a back-up key for emergencies? Does BIOS PW lock the HDD, or just stop the mainboard from booting? Can't find anything via google, and the "user manual" is useless.
As above, I am NOT trying to bypass or remove an existing password. I am deciding whether BIOS or HDD provides sufficient protection. I would have used Truecrypt, but it doesn't work well with backup utils like Macrium & TrueImage.
Can anyone link me to a good, detailed explanation of these options, please?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
    Normally this combination should work.
    Anyway, try this out.
    In the command prompt,
    set ORACLE_SID=<sid name>
    start server manager/svrmgrl
    connect internal.
At this juncture , if you are getting errors, exit the svrmgr application.
try to reset the password for internal with a new password file. (Backup the old one).
    Tr connecting.

  • Macbook pro will not recognize startup password

my macbook pro  ( one month old)is running the latest yosemite and suddenly will not recognise my startup password. after trying a few times it does not give me option to use my apple id to change the password. It just jitters and doesn't start up. How do I recover.

First, make sure caps lock is not on.
Another reason why the password might not be recognized is that the keyboard layout (input source) has been switched without your realizing it. At the login screen, you can select one of the available layouts by choosing from the flag menu in the upper right corner, if it's showing, or cycle through them by pressing the key combination command-space or command-option-space. See this support article.
If the user account is associated with an Apple ID, and you know the Apple ID password, then maybe the Apple ID can be used to reset your user account password. In OS X 10.10 and later, this option also works with FileVault, but only if you enabled it when you activated FileVault. It's not retroactive.
Otherwise*, start up in Recovery mode. When the OS X Utilities window appears, select
              Utilities ▹ Terminal
from the menu bar at the top of the screen—not from any of the items in the OS X Utilities window.
In the window that opens, type this:
    resetp
Press the tab key. The partial command you typed will automatically be completed to this:
    resetpassword
Press return. A Reset Password window opens. Close the Terminal window to get it out of the way.
Select the startup volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if not already selected. You won't be able to do this if FileVault is active.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Follow the prompts to reset the password. It's safest to choose a password that includes only the characters a-z, A-Z, and 0-9.
    Select
               ▹ Restart
    from the menu bar.
You should now be able to log in with the new password, but the Keychain will be reset (empty.) If you've forgotten the Keychain password (which is ordinarily the same as the login password), there's no way to recover it.
*Note: If you've activated FileVault, this procedure doesn't apply. Follow instead these instructions.

  • Contribute CS3 Requires Startup Password

I administer 30 or more websites. Have been working with
Contribute since version 2. Never required that I type in a
password to open up the program. Yesterday when I installed
Contribute CS3, and opened it up, it required a startup password. I
have no idea what it wants as I have never set a password. The
program is now unusable to me.
I sat on the phone for 6 1/2 hours yesterday with Adobe
support waiting for someone to come on to help with this issue. My
phone battery finally quit. Have also sent out a request for help
    on this issue. No response.
I am getting a bit desperate as people are depending on me...
does anyone have a solution to this?

Make sure it says "Enter Password, please enter your
Contribute startup password try the following" If this is not the
prompt you get, other prompts could be asking for CPS or your FTP
login, so make sure the prompt is what you are getting before going
any further into this registry fix. If you are not a local
administrator on your computer you may not be able to make this
    fix.
    1. From the Run command, type in regedit to bring up the
    Registry
    2. Drill into the HKEY_CURRENT_USER >SOFTWARE
    >Contribute 4.1> Security Preferences.
    3. Now select this folder and go to File> Export > and
name this file something like backupsecuritypref.reg
    4. Once the export is done, right click on the Security
Preferences, check Permissions, make sure your user name is part of
the security group. Highlight your user name and then verify that
you have Full Control to the folder.
    5. Now double click on the blue key Always Prompt for
StUpPWD, you'll see a value name Always Prompt for StUpPWD. Toggle
the Base set to Decimal from Hexadecimal, and change the value data
from 1 to 0 with the.
    6. Go to the next blue key, Require PWD, and do the same
thing. Toggle the Base set to Decimal from Hexadecimal, and change
the value data from 1 to 0.
    7. Try to open Contribute again, if it is not opening, try to
import the backup file backupsecuritypref.reg via the
    registry.

My mac do not request a pass word on startup. How do I re-enter my startup password.

Open System Preferences>Users & Groups fourth line down. At the bottom of the left side select Login Options, you may need to unlock the panel to make changes. At the top in Automatic Login set it to "Off", meaning it will ask for your password to log in.

I have never heard of what you are asking for.
You probably meant  admin password or backdoor bassword.
Unfortunately, business class notebooks, such as yours have very robust security.
Only an HP Service Center or a BIOS company can help you by removing the BIOS CMOS chip. They wuld have to replace it with a chip programmed with the appropriate BIOS ROM file that is by default without a password.
    Contact HP directly.

  • How do I remove my startup password, it's really annoying

How do I remove my startup password, it's really annoying

You don't. Without it your computer has no security, you will not be able to make certain system changes, and you will not be able to install new software. If you don't like using a password at startup there is a solution although it renders your computer unsafe from others.
Open Users & Groups or Accounts preferences. Click on the lock icon and enter your admin password when prompted. Click on the Login Options button. On the top right you will see Automatic Login: and a dropdown menu. Select your username from the menu. You will be prompted again to enter your admin password. Then you are done. From now on your computer will startup without asking you to enter a password.

  • Dell M1330 BIOS Admin Password

Check out the sticky post in this group from Dell; they can't help with that here anymore, you have to contact support.

Need help clearing the BIOS Admin Password. Not Windows password, not BIOS "system" password.  This is the BIOS Admin Password.  I have already tried removing the CMOS battery to clear and that did not work.  I understand there is a way to "break" the password for these systems.
Can you help with a password for this system?

  • BIOS Administrator Password

I'm using HP SoftPaq software to get my updates.  I went to try to update the BIOS and I got the message of doom, "The BIOS is protected by a Setup password. You must enter the BIOS Setup password before the system BIOS can be updated." I bought my laptop on State Surplus.  BIOS password?  Any ideas on how to recover or remove it?

The previous user of this PC may have setup the BIOS password. You will have to log a ticket with HP to get a reset file.
