Bios/unlock second core GF615M-P33 V2

Hello,
i messed up a little trying to flash the bios hoping to unlock a second core of my sempron 140.
My current bios version is 10.2.
I cant run the Live update tool because im using Linux and i cant check witch is the newest bios version also i cant download the bios file and flash it via usb stick because i cannot find any list of bios versions.: )
So can you tell me where to find the list that im looking for and is it possible to unlock the second core with the GF615M-P33 V2 motherboard?
thnxs : )

Here it is.
1.Set 'CPU LED Phase Control' default = disabled.
2.Remove small logo.
1.Fix the issue that sometimes it will inform the need of password when entering setup,
when update a new bios which never set the password.
1. Fix "chassis intrusion" function error after clear cmos.

    mainboard S/N is MS-7597 VER 1.1
That's not the S/N. You can find the S/N on a white sticker on the box or on the back of the board:

HELP !!!!!! NEED FOR ORIGINAL bios GF615M-P33!!!
I goof is kept to the old firmware bios, firmware and after computer started to hang every couple of minutes. Tumbler for overlock, those on the motherboard, when they switched to other modes motherboard does not start. I think you need the original bios. But I have neither version nor the old bios file. Now instaled this version of bios: 2.A0

BIOS is correct one, read >>Posting Guide<<
If the bios is correct, then why not work switches for overclocking??? With their switching to other modes (10%, 15% and 20%) than default motherboard does not start. How do you explain this? In BIOS firmware is working correctly.

  • GF615M-P33 Thuban support ?

    Hi all,
just bought a MSI GF615M-P33 v2 and a Phenom II 960T for a small rig.
Due to curiocity (the cpu is powerfull enough on 4 cores ) i tried to unlock the two extra cores.Well it does but it is a slow starter
It doesn't recognise the cpu as 1605 during the post but only as AMD unknown cpu.
Always , when i power up the pc i get stacked on the windows 7 (64bit) loading screen at the first boot.
As soon as i restart (cold) it and for the following restarts (if needed) it loads and works like a charm (prime95 says so  )
    CpuZ validation pages :
    http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=2189307 4 cores
    http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=2189319 6 cores
At cpu support list it seems that the Thuban platform is support.Only the 1605 is missing.
Is it possible that due to the "unkown cpu" issue, i have that annoying issue ?
The bios is the A20 . Is there any newer with updated microcode ?

Unlocking can give weird results in CPU-z, nothing to worry about.
If you put Thuban 1605 in Google you will find nobody has a known model listed in CPU-z.
That's because AMD never released this 1605, so CPU-z and the micro-code don't define it.
Nothing you can do but be happy with your unknown 6 core

  • MSI GF615M-P33 problem with sb audigy se

    Hi everyone
First of all in case it's useful, here's my system:
    Windows xp sp2 32bit
    AMD Athlon X2 240 2.8GHz Socket AM3 2MB
    MSI GF615M-P33 GeForce 6150SE Socket AM3
Asus Radeon X1550 512mb (old card works fine)
    Sound Blaster Audigy SE
    Crucial 2GB DDR3 1333MHz/PC3-10600 Memory CL9 1.5V
    0 Maxtor 80GB  SATAII 7200rpm 8MB Cache
    1 Maxtor 250GB SATAII 7200rpm 8MB Cache
    G7 680 watt psu
So this is my third msi board and everything is fine except windows is giving me this error code: Your computer's system firmware does not include enough information to properly configure and use this device (sound blaster audigy).  To use this device, contact your computer manufacturer to obtain a firmware or BIOS update. (Code 35).
I had a look at what I think is the bios version according to the boot screen A7597nms V2.0 123109 (does this look right?). Also, the advertised version of my board had a red pcb, mine is black and the version is 1.2, don't know if that's important, mentioning anyway.
Now I know the card works with the board because I did something slightly different, (just to see if it would work and save time). After building the computer I didn't reformat the hard drive from the previous mother board, just plugged it in and installed the new chipset drivers etc. Everything fine, soundcard working, except the cpu was only in single core and running very cool; less than 30 degrees c. So, decided to reformat properly, all good, cpu in multi and running around 40 degrees c, but just this problem with the sound card.
Another difference I notice is in windows control panel under Power Options I can't enable 'advanced power management' the option isn't there, so have to switch of the computer manually (which isn't a major problem). In the bios I always disable ACPI as I run a lot of audio processing software and according to some stuff I've read, can cause problems with irq's and all that technical stuff that I don't know much about.
Anyway, to the point. My question is: do I need to update the bios to 2.1 or would it be better to buy a new sound card. I've tried various bios settings and updating the drivers but makes no difference. I've even reinstalled windows with acpi enabled, again, the same error code.
Any help/questions much appreciated. Hope I've explained this well enough.

  • MSI's Unlock CPU Core Technology

Core unlocking of AMD processor has been a very hot topic of forum discussion. The possibility of spending a mere $100 dollars for a Phenom II X2/X3 CPU and unlocking the disabled cores to yield a $200 dollars Phenom II X4 is exactly like the goal of every overclocker around .Due to this demand, MSI official introduce the exclusive technology of Unlock CPU Core.
MSI’s Unlock CPU Core technology became available with the introduction of AMD Phenom II CPU series. No matter dual-core, triple-core or quad-core, all fall into the same series, and the only difference in number of cores is the difference in normal operation. However, MSI has since offered a BIOS capable of taking advantage of the Unlock CPU Core ability in order to offer its customers an even better user experience. Simply by enabling the related function, users can easily activate concealed core(s). Additionally, in order to prevent any instability from activating the concealed core, MSI’s Unlock CPU Core technology can be turned both off and on, so the user can decide whether to overclock a single-core or run a multi-core setup.
[The Benefit of Unlock CPU Core]
    • With the same price, one can get an even better performance
    • The cost-performance ratio instantly increases 70% at least.
    • Just turn on this function, unlock CPU Core for freely
[How to Use MSI's Unlock CPU Core Technology]
STEP 1: Enter the Cell Menu option list in the BIOS
STEP 2: Enable the Unlock CPU Core function
STEP 3: Enable the ACC (Advanced Clock Calibration) function, and, at this time, you will see the originally two core list will become a four core list with the options of enabling/disabling any of Core 2
At this time, though Core 1 cannot be disabled, all other cores have the options of being enabled/disabled, but should any of the cores be unstable, the user may be unable to start his/her O/S, and the system may even crash.
STEP 5: If the cores are unlocked successfully, the user may try entering the system information and discover that what was first a dual-core CPU has grown to a quad-core , and the performance has highly increased.

Could be the option is missing because your CPU hasn't got a 4th core?
    I don't know, just guessing.
Im not sure either, but there are reports outthere that say that AMD is lasercutting the extra cores on the X2/X3 range, because of the unlocking of them.
So they physically remove any connections to other cores or the core itself and thus you cant unlock it, cause they rendered it useless and/or its not there anymore.
This has to do with the fact that most of the cores that are disabled are flawed.
Dunno if thats the case with your for sure though, you might get lucky and get the extra core to run, but there is NO guarantee it will work flawlessly.

  • Athlon X2's Second Core? **SOLVED**

    Hey guys,
I've been looking arround at some other forums and found out that my new CPU is'nt running at its full potential. Although MSI's webby say's the Neo2 Plat supports the new X2 processors i cant seem to get the second core to fire up :/. I've updated the BIOS to ver 1.8 and downloaded that processor drivers from AMD's website. I'm probabley doing somthing dumb somone sort me out
From what i've read everywhere elce i should have 2 perfomence graphs in the task manager when its working. also the system is only deteceting the cpu as a Athlon Hammer Famaley - Unknowen Modle. Oh and its the 4200

    Quote from: syar2003 on 19-July-05, 05:54:07
You also need a bios to support dual core for Neo2 , which at the moment is out just as beta version 1.98 .

  • GF615M-P33 v2: Voltages disabled

    Hi!.
I have a GF615M-P33 v2 and some GEIL DDR3-1600. Problem is, if I want to put this memory at 1600 Mhz, I need to change the voltage, but all the voltage options are disabled in the BIOS. Also, I don't see where to change the FSB/DRAM ratio, as written in the manual.
According to LiveUpdate, my BIOS has the last version (10.2 - 14/3/2011). I don't see anywhere how to make it work.
    What am I doing wrong?.
    Thank you!

    Quote
Ok, I was able to change the voltage, but I don't have the option of putting it at 1.6
What options do you have instead?
    Quote
I assumed that I was using 1.5 since CPU-z said that that was what my memory should use when at 666 Mhz speed, but I'm not so sure anymore that I wasn't using 1.6 all along. Neither CPU-z nor AIDA64 give me a reading of what voltage the DRAM is set to right now.
There is no software tool out there currently, that is really able to monitor the current DRAM voltage.  What CPU-Z shows you is not the current DRAM voltage but the recommended DRAM Voltage programmed into the SPD tables of your memory modules.  That value will never change.
    Quote
Still can't find where to change the DRAM speed in the BIOS.
    Use this option: FSB/DRAM Ratio

    Thanks

    Hi there!
My computer broke down a couple of week's ago and i have been using my laptop meanwhile.
Now i finally got some new parts to my computer.
    So the current computer:
    AMD Athlon X2 250, 3,0 ghz, AM3, 2MB, 65W
    MSI GF615M-P33, Socket-AM3, m-ATX, GeForce 6150se, DDR3, SATA II, GbLAN, PCI-Ex16
    Sahpire Radeon HD 4670 512MB GDDR3 PCI-Express 2.0, DVI-I, native-HDMI, HDCP, Lite-Retail
    Kingston ValueR. DDR3 1333MHz 4GB, CL9, Kit w/two Matched ValueRAM 2GB DDR3
    Samsung HD501LJ, 500GB, 7200rpm, 16M
Windows XP Pro 32 bit, right now, will upgrade later to Windows 7 Ultimate.
    Huntkey Delcato PSU-422 450W DC Output: "+5V=35A(RED), 12V1=15A(YELLOW), +3.3V=30A(ORANGE), +12V2=17A(YELLOWBLACK), -12V=0.5A(BLUE), +5Vsb=2.0A(PURPLE), PG(GREY)
So the problem is that when i inserted all of my components and then just went to boot it, it gave me 3 beeps and a black screen.
My flatmate has the same motherboard and i tried the RAM, CPU and Video card on it, and it worked fine with one beep and i got a screen and came to BIOS.
I tried his RAM, CPU and Video Card on my motherboard and it still gave me 3 beeps and no screen.
So i have no clue how to troubleshoot anymore.
Tell me if you need anymore information
    Please help me!
    Thanks in advance!!

  • GF615M-P33 boot issues

    Hi everyone,
My son has the following configuration:
    AMD X4 630
    GF615M-P33
    4GB matched memory.
    ATI Radeon X1800GTO
    Samsung 1TB Hard drive
    500W power supply
    XP Home SP3
The PC is rock solid, when booted, but for some reason never boots first time. It can take 2-3 cold restarts (soft reset doesn't work) before windows boots and when it does we have never had any kind of lock up or anything.
This happens without anything else plugged in and with USB or PS2 mouse & keyboard. It runs fast, cool and quiet for hours on end.
The board is only 2 months old and has always done this.
Does anybody know what might be going on?
    Thanks in advance...seppo

    Hi Svet,
Thanks for the very quick reply.
I'm confused. The PC is rock solid when you finally get it to boot. You can play hi-demand DX9 games for hours without any problems. So presumably the PSU is able to drive the hardware - even after the high-load DX9 VGA kicks in, but not the first 1 or 2 times you switch it on? When the PC is still running DOS/BIOS/VGA only?
I'm not an electrical engineer - do PSUs deliver more/better quality or smoother power when warm? Surely the delay during POST is sufficient to get the PSU warm? It often makes it through POST and sometimes into the windows boot and then locks up. A couple of power-downs later it boots fine.
On the RAM issue. Surely RAM would become more unstable with heat/use, not the other way round? And it would show some signs of instability in windows - but I'm not exaggerating when I say not a single crash in 3 months and my son works his PC very hard.
You are probably right, but £50/60 to possibly solve a minor irritation on my son's PC, as a friend would put it, is the juice worth the squeeze? No probably not...
I was kind of hoping there was an obvious and free solution. BIOS setting / jumper switch - delicate tap with a hammer!
I do want to thank you for your time - much appreciated.
    Seppo.

  • 970A-G46 Question: Unlocking 960T cores

    Hi,
I have just bought this board for a Phenom x4 960T BE and was looking to see if one or two extra cores would unlock. I know they are not guaranteed to unlock, but only 4 cores are showing in the Bios and I just don't know if I'm missing something obvious or if this cpu only has the four cores. Can anyone help?

  • 785GTM-e45 enable Unlock CPU Core - won't post past sata harddrive detection

I recently bought a 785GTM-E45 and have a Phenom II x2 560 in it.  I have a sata harddrive drive attached with the Raid setting to AHCI.  I have windows 7 x64 running fine, but wanted to see if I could unlock any cores.  If I enable ACC but leave Unlock CPU Core to Disabled, I can boot fine.  But when I change Unlock CPU Core to Enabled and reboot, i get the Post messages and it identifies the CPU as Phenom II X4 B60.  Its goes through the whole posting until it get to initializing the sata drives.  It will sit on that screen for a few minutes and then say that no drives are found so it cant boot.  If i do the same thing with the harddrive unplugged, it immediately says it can't find any drives.  I have tried changing the Raid setting to IDE with similar results.   I am running bios version 8.8  One thing I noticed that I thought was strange is that when I do the save after enabling CPU Unlock, the computer totally shuts off.  The power light turns off, all drives and fans turn off, then it turns it self back on and does the reboot.  It only does this with CPU Unlock enabled.

I believe that AMD is doing a more thorough job of disabling defective cores on those things and you will not be able to unlock. We've been seeing more and more of that recently on the 5xx series. If you want more cores then you will have to pay for them, looks like no longer a free ride for extra cores. Can't blame MSI for that.
