  • BIOS updating issue on Satellite 3000 -X11

    Hello,
I found a lot of people complaining of this same issue.
I found no solution posted. Most threads (now locked) ended with people saying "Don't update your bios if it is running okay"
This computer is not running okay and I would like to update the BIOS.
The issue is that the bios update says it failed due to the update not being for this model of computer.
The laptop is a Satellite 3000-X11. I have downloaded the v1.6 BIOS update for the Satellite 3000-X11
So I am not sure why it makes this complaint.
Please advise if there is something more I can do here.
Also please know the BIOS update procedure I followed was exactly per the instructions.
    Thanks,
    Jonathan

(sorry about the name change. Somehow ended up with two profiles when I accessed the forums via a different country site)
As per my original post... the computer does NOT run okay.
That is why I wish to try updating the BIOS.
It has issues with it not starting or starting but with a screen that is so dimmed it looks blank. Looking really hard at it I can see it is not blank, just VERY VERY dim.
I wish to update the BIOS just in case that fixes things.
The BIOS update complains that the PC is not the right model for this update, when it is the right model.
    Thanks,
    Jonathan

  • BIOS update problem with satellite C660

I have a satellite C660, and was sent a ' ''BIOS update C660 Version 1.80'', but when I try and install it this message comes up:
    ''THE PROGEAM WILL BE CLOSED
There is an erroroccured, please check the below items.
    BIOS version above 180
    Battery capacity more than 10%
    AC is attached''
The AC is attached and there is also plenty of battery power, so what more can I do ?
    Solved!

Hi Please post your full model number found on the bottom of your lap top. Does any one ever read any of the messages posted before posting a new message??
    Dokie!!
IMHO if your not having a problem, you don't need to up date the BIOS. That is a very serious procedure and can end in a bricked PC if not done exactly right.
    Dokie!!

  • BIOS update issue on Satellite Pro L40-15A - Old BIOS can't recognise EEPROM

    Hi
I'm having trouble flashing my bios.
    I have a Satellite Pro L40-15A.
The Toshiba winflash tool that comes with the bios file tells me that the 'Old BIOS can't recognise EEPROM'
I was recommended to use AFUDOS on another forum but that tells me the bios has an invalid boot block.
AMI flas for dos tells me the flash rom is write-protected??? There is no option in bios to disable it and I don't think anyone would be dumb enough to put a hardware Bios protect jumper on a laptop.
    Please help
    Thx

    Hi and thanks for reply
The 5.10 bios update is only for XP laptops, my one came with windows vista installed so I need v2.20
"old BIOS cannot recognise EEPROM" is the error message i get when i try to flash the bios with the supplied software from Toshiba
    _+UPDATE:+_
New verion of BIOS update has worked!!

  • SQL SERVER 2014 - Project consistency check failed. The following inconsistencies were detected: package.dtsx. has a different ProtectionLevel than the project.

I am getting the following error when I right click on a package in solution explorer and execute using SQL Server 2014:
Project consistency check failed. The following inconsistencies were detected: package.dtsx. has a different ProtectionLevel than the project.
Luckily my solution only has 10 packages.  I have verified and re-verified that everyone is set to dontsavesensitive.
I have verified and re-verified that the solution has the protection level to dontsavesensitive.
What on earth is going on here?  I am using windows authentication and have no need for the package to save any sensitive information, nor should there be any.
Can someone please help me out here?
    The Degenerate Dimension

    Hi MMiligan,
Just as the error message said, the exactly issue is that the package package.dtsx has a different ProtectionLevel property value than the project.
So please double check the value of project ProtectionLevel property, like DontSaveSensitive, then make sure all packages in the project use the same ProtectionLevel value.
If there is still an error message indicated that some packages use a different value, please right-click the indicated package to select View Code, then make sure there is a line like below(the DontSaveSensitive
protection level corresponds to the value of 0):
    DTS:ProtectionLevel="0"

    Hi
The BIOS for this unit can be found on Toshiba EU driver page:
    http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=EU
Currently it looks like the BIOS 1.50-WIN is the newest one.
    According to BIOS access:
Press F2 while powering on the unit. This is the right and only method to access the BIOS. Press F2 several times in the row

  • MSI-6712 BIOS update issues

I have a PC, running XP Pro SP3, which was built for me nigh on 9 years ago.
    Motherboard: MSI-6712 (KT4V-L) Version 1.0 (North Bridge KT400A Rev 80, South Bridge VT8235 Rev 00)
    CPU: AMD XP2800+ CPU (Socket A 462, 3000 MHz)
    Memory: 1.0GB DDR
GPU: nVidia GeForce FX-5200 (128 MB)
About 4 years back I considered updating the BIOS, but the MS LiveUpdate utility (v 3.5 I think it was) no longer worked (wrong URL). Tried updating it, but the update (can’t remember the version) shut down my system whenever I tried to use it. So I rolled back and left it.
Recently, a program I was evaluating (running on .Net 4 Client Profile) caused my PC to freeze up and after uninstalling I discovered all manner of problems with USB peripherals (recognition and auto-play issues).
Tried to restore a backup (Retrospect Express HD) from a Maxtor One Touch III external drive but it wasn’t having it, presumably because of the drive recognition issues, and a straight System Restore wouldn’t complete (because XP would freeze at log off).
I feared there had been hardware damage, but decided to try a clean re-install of XP Pro. The person who built the PC had left a folder of system set up files (VIA chipset 4in1, LAN, RealTek AC97, nVidia drivers, utilities etc) on the hard drive (which I backed up) but when it came to installing XP, I couldn’t figure out which chipset drivers to install, as there were multiple versions (presumably for his purposes). So I let XP install the default windows drivers and then replaced them with the latest VIA 4in1 set for the KT4V-L from the MSI download page (can’t post link) – driver version 5.11a, release 20.4.2007
Seemed to go well, but it was suggested to me that it might be a good time to update the BIOS. So I installed MSI Live Update 5 and ran a scan. Strange thing is that an automatic scan (which pulls up just the nVidia driver and utilities) reports that none are installed and a manual scan reports that the BIOS, Drivers and Utilities are the latest version and no there is need to update. How can that be? I’ve never updated the BIOS and the only other utility I re-installed is PC Alert 5.
Yet when I run a SIW (System Information for Windows) scan and it reports the following:

How is it that Live Update 5 doesn’t pick this up?
So, apologies for the convoluted post (thought it best to explain the events leading to this), but what to do?
    1.   Do I need to update the BIOS, given that it has never been done and I now have the latest VIA 4in1 drivers installed?
    2.   Why is Live Update 5 not reporting the status correctly and is there anything I can do to correct this.
    3.   Otherwise, if a BIOS update, is warranted, should I go ahead and download directly from the Global MSI webpage and then which version? (can’t post link). I note from the version descriptions that it was v1.7 (26/12/2002) that added support for AMD XP 2800. Strange then that the guy who put together my PC, would not have updated the BIOS from v1.0 to 1.7 at that time!!
    4.   Should I also update the nVidia driver, and if so, when? Before or after a BIOS update or is that irrelevant?

Edit: Actually, looking at the original SIW scan report I see that there are some errors relating to DirectX. Not sure if I need to update DirectX (surely MS Update does that automatically) and/or the nVidia driver.
    5.   One other thing that concerns me is that the SIW scan reports that the BIOS is reporting wrong values for the DDR memory. What’s that about?

Sorry for cross-posting to another forum, but this has got me in a twizzle
    http://www.windowsbbs.com/pc-hardware/89688-need-ram-recommendations-msi-kt4v-l-2.html#post493343
According to the poster (Post #30), the KT4V-L can support 3gB DDR400.
I looked at the MB in my PC and it is in fact stamped MS-6712 KT4AV v10A (assumed 1.0A ). Both CPU-Z and SIW report it as a MS-6712 v1.0 (BIOS 07.00T  04/02/01, Firmware 101.114)
According to the MSI product webpage, the only difference between the KT4AV and KT4AV_L is that the latter includes an (optional) on-board 10/100 LAN.
    http://www.msi.com/product/mb/KT4AV.html#/?div=Detail
The ethernet port on my PC is (as described in Device Manager) is a Via Rhine II Fast Ethernet Adapter, whereas in the listed MSI specifications, the optional 10/100 LAN is stated to be a VIA VT6103 LAN controller. So possibly then I was mistaken in assuming that my MB is a KT4AV-L.
Even so, if the statement about the KT4AV-L supporting 3gB DDR400 is true, surely this also applies to the KT4AV ?
Looking at the available BIOS updates on the MSI page, I can see no mention of an upgrade in DDR400 capacity:
    http://www.msi.com/product/mb/KT4AV.html#/?div=BIOS
Edit: Ah, the guy in the post specifically refers to a KT4V-L v1.1 not KT4AV-L and I see that it is different product:
    http://www.msi.com/product/mb/KT4V---KT4V-L--v1-0-.html#/?div=Detail
What's confusing is that they all designated as MS-6712. So if anyone, like me, does a look up under MS-6712 they could pull up either version, and since the KT4AV/L and KT4V/L have different BIOS update series, I can see how someone could easily flash the wrong BIOS.
That aside, the memory specifications for the KT4V/L are essentially the same as those in the User Guide that came with my KT4AV:
Supports up to 3GB PC1600/2100/2700/3200* DDR SDRAMs
*See Glossary for recommended DDR400 modules - with the largest listed module capacity being 2 x 512MB
So where does this "up to 3GB DDR400 capacity" notion come from. I'd really want to believe it. And if the guy in the PC shop is to be believed, I'd settle for just 2GB.
Edit 2: Oh, boy, so there is a separate product listing for the KT4V-L v1.1:
    http://us.msi.com/product/mb/KT4V-L--v1-1-.html#/?div=Detail
Yet, the memory specifications appear to be the same as those for the other MS-6712 versions and BIOS updates are the same as those for the KT4AV-L (very confusing). In fact the downloadable User Guide is the same  - 'KT4AV MS-6712 (v1.X) ATX Motherboard'.
    Am I missing something here?

  • Where are the BIOS update release notes - Satellite P300-Q01

I have a Satellite P300 Q01 - there have been two BIOS updates since I bought it W360 and W390.
Where can I find the release notes detailing what is fixed/changed in each release?

  • X220 BIOS Update issue

    Hi
I recently flashed my BIOS (going from 1.26 -> 1.31) prior to installing Windows 7 x64 on a new SSD on my X220. The BIOS update seemed to work OK (I used the lenovo Windows utility to do it), but now I can't save any changes to any BIOS settings. I also cannot reset to defaults - I can't even select some options in the BIOS (e.g. anything to do with UEFI) - the cursor just skips over the lines on screen - and those I can select don't respond to any changes I try to make. I don't get any errors either in BIOS or in Windows, and my X220 boots OK, but obviously there's something wrong there.
After updating the BIOS, I installed the SSD (a Samsung 830) and installed Windows on it - all this worked OK although I was planning to switch to UEFI for the new install and couldn't do so because the BIOS is now uneditable. Everything in Windows seems to work OK.
I've tried re-running the BIOS utility but it reports that the BIOS is up to date and it won't re-apply the current update.
I've checked to see if anyone else has reported this issue here, and found a few reports with similar issues but different situations (e.g. people running Linux rather than Windows, or Wifi not working after the update) - but not this issue exactly.
I'm wondering if this will fix itself when a new BIOS version is released and applied - if that's likely, I'm happy to wait until then (so long as nothing breaks in the meantime). I'd rather do that than pull the CMOS battery (which has been recommended on a few similar threads on here) - but given that the BIOS seems to now be frozen on my machine I'm not sure if future updates will even work.
Has anyone else seen this issue?

    Hi
    Welcome To Lenovo Community
Please try updating the Bios using bios.bak file which is created during bios update .
You need to locate the bios file folder on c drive  , then find bios.bak   rename  it with FLASHABLNew.ROM
And click on winplash.exe ,  use Browse  option  to " Specify new Bios file "  and select FLASHABLNew.ROM
Then click on flash bios  , it will flash a message that the bios you are trying to update is older than current version , Press Yes to continue
Press Yes , If every thing goes well , your system will restart and you will have your old bios were you can modify or change any option
Now delete the folder which has the latest bios
Download the latest bios and try to flash to check if you are able to modify or change any option under Bios
    Hope This Helps
    Cheers!!!

  • BIOS update issues

    I've got two N770 TF 2GD5/OC's.
I ran Live Update and it suggested a BIOS update to NV282MH.301.  I'm not very BIOS savvy, so stupididly I said ok, everything went smooth and computer restarted.  My issue now is when I have SLI on and a game in full screen it shows what its supposed to but with constant quick flickers.  This doesn't exist when SLI isn't on, and I have swapped the cards and pinpointed it strictly to SLI.
I have no idea what to do and don't want to mess with the BIOS unless I have some help.  What do I do!?

The BIOS version is NV282MH.301 for BOTH cards.  I'm sure my problem is 1 is incorrect for one of my cards as to they were purchased at slightly different times.  If you come to the conclusion that this is true (I did find you answer someone else with ROM's to install) and you give me ROM's I need a little explanation as to how I install them.
after checking, yes the 1st card has the wrong BIOS installed

  • 700-410xt bios update issues with sp70148

The HP support Assistant program notified me to install the Bios Update SP70148 Version 80.20Ap1.  I have tried to install it many times to no avail.  I've even went directly to this support site and downloaded it directly and it still doesn't install properly.
I've tried running it with my Norton 360 AV turned off - It didn't work
I've tried opening the machine in Windows Safe mode and insatlling, and it didn't install
I've checked the Bios version and it says AMI 80.19  7/18/2014
Each time I go to install it, it will ask me if I want to overwrite existing files and I say yes to all
It then opens up a Command Prommpt windows, it does something and than automatically restarts the computer.
Each time I've checked the Bios and it doesn't change.
    Can you offer any advice

Same issue here.  Have tried allowing the automatic update and also manually updating.  Not sure what the problem is.  Also, the bios update alert indicates that this is a critical, security related BIOS update.  I'm not sure what in the BIOS would relate to system security, but it seems very important and I hope this is resolved soon.

I need to update bios version from 1.10 to 1.58 today, and i download last bios cd iso version labelled j4uj53wd.iso, i burned cd with imgburn and from windows 7 burning software, and cd is booting from bios menu but i saw a message just before Main menu bios... unable to control A20 line xms driver is not installed!.... after this message i get Main menu bios with chooses 1..2..3...  and i choose 2 update system program, press Y, red windows error message appear, the system program was not found on the cd.  Insert the correct cd in the drive.  I tried to different cd burned with two different burning software and the same error coming back all the time.  I really need to update bios because i have some LAN PXE boot failed and other littles bugs to fix.  I think that no rom file inside the update file iso, and no XMS driver (a20 control line!) present causing error update file was not found on cd.

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Things to try:
    1.  go into BIOS setup
    2.  go the Security menu -> Secure Boot and make sure secure boot is disabled
    3.  go to the Startup menu, change the option for "UEFI/Legacy Boot" to "Legacy only"
    4.  press f10 to save and exit
Does the BIOS update CD work now?
If not, try changing step 3 to set "UEFI only" and retry

  • Re: Installed BIOS update to my Satellite Pro L300D and now screen doesn't work

    Hi there,
I installed the BIOS update 3 days ago, I did have a couple programmes open at the time and also an external USB mouse in at the time. The hard drive crashed and then blacked out, but the power was still on with the fan working at full pelt. I attempted turning the computer off by the power button, but it wouldn't, so I let it run out of battery. Since then the computer seems to turn on but the screen has been blacked out ever since, so I cannot see what state the hard drive is in.
    Any ideas?

Oh buddy, this sounds like that your ROM module is damged due a faulty BIOS update :(
Normally a BIOS update should *not* be done with running background programs (also antivirus). I think this was the reason why the update wasnt successfully.
However, you can do nothing. You will need help from a notebook technician that can try to reflash the ROM module. On the Toshiba page you can search for an ASP:

  • BIOS Update Issue For MSI 7058 rev 1.0 915P/G Combo

I updated my bios from 1.0 to 1.9
and the monitor screen went black while updating. Now the LED Diagnostics in the D-Bracket shows two horizontal position orange LEDs at the bottom portion and two yellow green LEDs at the upper position.  what is wrong as i cannot boot as there is totally black screen only. And it seems the BIOS update failed and i have no rescue disk.
Can you please advise me or can something be done? perhaps direct me to where i can get a new BIOS.

    BIOS Recovery Feature
    For AMI BIOS
       1. Rename the desired AMI BIOS file to AMIBOOT.ROM and save it on a floppy disk. e.g. Rename A569MS23.ROM to AMIBOOT.ROM
       2. Insert this floppy disk in the floppy drive. Turn On the system and press and hold Ctrl-Home to force update. It will read the AMIBOOT.ROM file and recover the BIOS from the A drive.
       3. When 4 beeps are heard you may remove the floppy disk and restart the computer.

may you please advice AMI BIOS Ver. or release # to use? as the most appropriate to use to recover the BIOS available download is ver. 1.1 to ver. 1.9.There is no release 1.0. Your advice is most welcome!
