Bios Update on R61 with Win 7

Hi!  I'm trying to update the bios on a R61 7733 to the latest.   But when I run the flash bios update or the bootable CD bios update they fail with a message flashable.rom not found or system program file not found.  I found a log file WINUPTP.TXT  that has the message "OS = Windows Vista  Driver Loading....Driver Loading failed !"
Seeing as the OS is Win 7 Home Premium x64, how do I get past the driver loading for Vista?
Thanks,
Mark

  • Tecra A9 and BIOS update - No sound with Win 7

    Hi,
I installed Windows 7 of an Tecra A9 Laptop and everything works fine except the sound. The sound card driver for Windows 7 is already installed. The Speakers as well as the microphone is detected. While playing music, under sound devices the green bar beneath the speakers raises up and down but I can not hear anything.
I read that the BIOS update may help but it do not work under Windows 7 or with a Windows XP Live CD or in Windows XP Mode for Windows 7.
I do not want to reinstall Windows XP.
Do anybody know how to get the sound working correctly?

Even with headphones, I had no sound.
I already checked all sound settings serveral times, nothing is muted and all is as loud as possible.
I can't install the BIOS update because I installed WIndows 7 before. Thus, I don't know if it would work. However, it is the only solution I found and maybe it works.
Is there no other way to update the BIOS? I mean I can start the BIOS update(P0054v210.exe), the extraction of the files works but after that I got the message: 'The Computer is not supported'. I noticed that there are Laptop models for which other procedures for updating the BIOS exists. Could anyone of them also work for Tecra A9?
Has anybody an idea what the cause of the sound problem could be?
    Thanks.

  • Re: BIOS update on Tecra with PGP WDE

    Hi,
I want to update the BIOS of my Tecra S11. The harddrive is encrypted with PGP Whole Disk Encryption. Is it safe to run the Toshiba BIOS update program without first decrypting the disk?
    Thanks for your input,
    Patrick

    Hi
Only the most naive person would say "yes it is safe".
From years with computers, nothing is perfectly safe.
However, if You're not using a TPM for encrypting your data I would say it is safe enough. Even if the TPM was involved, I would be very surprised if it was in any way affected by an BIOS update.
At the same time if your data has any value - always back it up.
So to sum it up - if your not using a TPM for encrypting services I would say there should be very little risks involved.
But always always back up your valuable files. Regardless if your doing a BIOS update or not.

  • Bios update fails on G510, win 8 preinstalled

Even though I have downloaded the same from Lenovo support page for G510, it says invalid firmware image, and reverts to the old version. Why is this happening? Is there any alternate location for bios download?
I have bios back flash enabled and secure boot disabled.
    Thanks

Quite possibly the download is not completing successfully. Do you have access to a different computer, and a flash drive? If so, use that computer with a hard line internet connection (wired, not wireless) and download the bios, save it to the flash drive and then move it to your notebook.

  • New Bios update for S10e compatible with original S10?

I saw on S10lenovo that they said the fan problem is now fixed with the new bios, so it runs at a low speed all the time instead of going on and off(which is quite annoying). I was wondering if the bios update is compatible with the original S10? if not, then when will the original S10's bios update be available? Thanks!

If your not familiar with bios updates, be very careful. Make sure your 100% positive its the proper one and it works, flashing an incorrect bios will essentially cripple your system.

  • How to disable Toshiba TEMPRO alerts about new BIOS update

Hi just installed TEMPRO on my W8 Satellite L875 laptop, ant it's saying there's a new bios update available - (1.60-WIN) which is the same version as I've already got.?:|
    Q: how can I make this alert go-away ?
    -Tom

Thanks, but that's not quite what I had in mind ...
I would have expected tempro to examine my system & installed components, and to alert me when a new/updated driver is released. I would then install the new/updated driver, and then tempro should dismiss the alert - or perhaps I'm just not understanding how tempro works ?

  • [(un)-SOLVED] BIOS update with wine?

    Hi all,
I'd like to know if it is safe to update the BIOS via Wine. The problem is that my BIOS update does not run from DOS and I don't have any Vista partition on my HD (the BIOS update is only for Vista it seems). However, the program launch with Wine.
    Thanks
EDIT: Nevermind... Wine can't reach the BIOS.
Although, if anyone has an idea as to how to upgrade a BIOS with an utility made for Vista... Please tell me.

I reflashed the firmware in my DVD writer via WINE the other day, without really thinking. About halfway through the process I came to my senses and spent the rest of it biting my nails and holding my breath. But it worked. (Didn't solve the problem I was having with it, mind you, but the thing still works as well as it ever did.)
I'd never try a BIOS update, though. Too risky even under "real" Windows, unless it's absolutely necessary.

  • Update BIOS with Win 7

hello everyone, it's been awhile. i've been having a few problems with my SR5505F, i am going to run Memtest +86 on one stick of RAM at a time (2x2GB), but first wanted to check/upgrade the BIOS in case that was the problem, trouble is, i upgraded the OS from Vista to Win 7, and the BIOS for this model only offer the choice for Vista 32 and Vista 64, what should i do, my last BIOS update shows 2008. thanks for any help.
    This question was solved.

    Hi:
In all probability, you will kill your PC if you attempt to flash the BIOS using Windows 7.
You should only run the BIOS flashes using the operating system(s) listed as supported on the download file notes.

  • BIOS Update Fail - Aspire XC-603G Win 8.1

Hello,I have searched here for a couple days and read a bunch of posts - some of which I have tried.   I am NOT trying to go back down to Win 7 (though I really like Win 7)  I am trying to stick with Win 8.1. I was running BIOS P11-A1 and suddenly started having trouble with the USB 3.0 controller.I read some posts here and on other forums that stated I should see if there is a BIOS update. There are actually four for this machine and so I started with the oldest one P11-B0LTTo be honest the instructions in the README pdf file were not that helpfulbut I found soem great data on the AMI website that helped me update to P11-B0L. I ran the BIOS-DOS.BAT file first but got this error: "4 - Error: ROM File ROMID is not compatible with existing BIOS ROMID"So I went ahead and ran the AFUDOS file without all the parameters in the batch file and everything updated fine. But I am still having troubles with the USB 3.0 controller and the process just seemed to be fairly complex. Both my HP's and three other Dell's had Flash BIOS programs, or simple instructions that worked with no problems. Was I just getting lucky with them and there is some hidden UEFI and/or MS-DOS secret ritual that I am missing here ?Am I perhaps using the incorrect BIOS update file - and if so which one should I use ?  Thanks,-Bil

Thanks that makes sense.  Would of course be nice if Acer didn't offer them as options when one selects Win 8.1 as the OS.Or at least put that note in the description for each. I of course got jammed up when I forced the next BIOS version (with the "L") after B2 worked fine. She was hanging up at the POST so I cleared the CMOS by swapping the jumper pins.I then put the B2 BIOS on the USB and renamed it AMIBOOT.ROM and I am back to a functioning box. USB 3.0 controller is still DOA but I am probably going to dump this MB for one with a couple PCI slots.I have been wanting to dump the Celeron POS anyhow - and this will be my tester for Win 10. Thanks again for the info and maybe it will help the next poor soul...Consider this one resolved -bil

  • Re: Satellite Z30-A with Win 8.1 - Driver update confusion

    Hello,
I have a question regarding driver updates. Currently, Windows Update recommends me to update the audio driver (important) and the LAN driver (optional). Toshiba Service Station, however, doesnt offer new drivers for these devices.
My question is whether I should install these updates (particularly the important one) or if they are not approved by Toshiba yet?
Moreover, does anyone have a changelog for the new 3.8 Bios?
    Thanks!

Thanks for the quick replies! I was just tempted because one of the updates was classified as "important", for whatever reason, which are normally those updates that should be installed (e.g. for security reasons). In fact you are right, I dont have any problems with my laptop.
Sorry, forgot to state the model: Z30-A with Win 8.1
Any ideas about the bios update?
    Thanks!

I want  to know if I can install "BIOS update for win 8" in my lenovo t410 with windows 8.1..
    thanks everyone for helping..
sorry any mistake in english, I am from Kosova <3

    Hello.
The Windows BIOS upgrade isn't OS specific, it runs on all OS's between XP-Win8.1, even if it doesn't list 8.1 specifically.
You can either update it manually, using the update here:
BIOS Update Utility for ThinkPad T410, T410i
Or make a bootable CD/USB with the ISO file here:
BIOS Update Bootable CD for ThinkPad T410, T410i
Either way works like a charm on a Windows 8.1 machine, but be aware of the risks involved in updating your BIOS.
    Good luck!

  • Portege R500 BIOS update 1.60-WIN

    Hello
I was looking at the 1.60-WIN BIOS update available on the download pages since 25/03/08.
Anybody know what the update does?
The explanation on the download page just says: +"This Bios Update adds increased functionality to your system."+
    Thanks in advance.

Yeah, 0,85V is locked by the CPU. It's Intel's mistake that the CPU runs so hot and doesn't accept halt commands. I tried maybe 5-6 available apps and no luck. Also, Win XP makes the R500 much snappier and faster, and even thought it consumes less resources than Vista the CPU gets to 62C and fan start whining. Then the temp drops to 55C and the fan stops. It takes3-5 mins and the temp rises again to 62C and this goes on and on. With an idle system and the lowest cooling method! Crazy!! I'm afraid BIOS update and the higher temp threshold would not help because the limit should be somewhere near the absolute max temp that the CPU can handle and that would make the whole laptop very very hot. 80-90C?
I wonder is it possible to force (hack) the CPU to accept low voltages like couple of years ago pencil tricks worked nicely.. or custom code for the halt command...

  • BIOS Update 6.70 problem with Satellite Pro C850-172

I have two problems with updating the BIOS (the 1st is more important then the 2nd one):
    1. While trying to install BIOS Update 6.70-WIN (29/11/13) it says that:
"The version of ROM file is the same as that of BIOS"
and it stops. In the DOS window it shows one phrase:
"NOT Windows 8 Platform, using Windows 7 update...".
I use Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit system but recently there has been major automatic update done to it.
I got lost. Is there anything I can do to update BIOS?
    2. Earlier it says that Flash process will be terminated and I need to "contact OEM BIOS engineer to add the NV storage location by HISII interface". But if I want to risk I can continue etc.
Previously I took the risk and updating went well.
But is there possibility to contact OEM BIOS engieneer?

    Hi
    >While trying to install BIOS Update 6.70-WIN (29/11/13) it says that:
    >"The version of ROM file is the same as that of BIOS"
What is the present BIOS version which is available on your notebook?
In case the BIOS is already up to date, the BIOS flash procedure will be interrupted.
    >"NOT Windows 8 Platform, using Windows 7 update...".
Im not quite sure about the meaning of this information but it looks like the BIOS update was released for Windows 8 system and probably its required to upgrade the system from Windows 7 to Windows 8 in order to be able to flash the BIOS
By the way: why you want to update the BIOS? Just because new version is available?
Please note that BIOS update does not improve the notebook performance but fixes some issues. In case your notebook runs properly, the BIOS update is not very important

  • Invalid Partition Error with each boot after BIOS update???

    Need help from the experts:
I have all of a sudden had problems with every boot, receiving an "invalid partition" error every timeI start my machine. ONly significant thing I have done lately is flash bios to v 1.1 on the K8N Neo2 Plat board using MSI tool. I had no such problems prior to flashing to 1.1, though I have had other problems related to memory voltage...
What, if anything, does BIOS have to do with it? my drives are both 160GB, formatted NTFS each a single large partition...is the system thinking that's an invalid partition size?
At any rate, I have already tried a complete low level format of my drives and re-install of Win XP Pro from scratch to make sure nothing was corrupted, and sure enough, upon next boot (needed to complete some driver installs) I get the same error. Of note, I also get an error re: one of my 2 DVD drives...related?
So, for now, the only way around this is to boot using XP CD, execute 'R' for recovery, then use DOS command 'FIXMBR' to write a new boot record, and then I am able to get back in...until the next re-boot.
Have had numerous issues with this board / bios, though this is the most profound one.
Need help...this is confounding me. What should I be looking into, trying next?
    system:
    AMD 64 3500+, stock cooling
    Zalman 400B psu
    MSI K8N Neo2 PLatinum mobo
    2 GB Corsair XMS C2PT ram (4 x 512)
    2 x 160 GB Samsung HDD
    Asus E616P1 16x DVD rom
Plextor 712A DVD RW / CDRW
    MSI 9800PRO 128
    Audigy 2 ZS

How did you'll updates your bios?? using liveupdates or what?? what version are you trying to updates? the old to the new version of bios..btw keith can you lists down ur spec's like seacoast guy including the psu (watts and rails) in full details. Gd luck
