BIOS Update Satellite Pro L10

I downloaded a BIOS update for my Satellite PRO L10 notebook, when I try to install I receive the following message
The input file EW3I1A04.WPH cannot be found, a valid filename must be specified to continue.
Any advice appreciated
Regards,

Hello guys
Mochitas I don't have SP L10 but I would like to know how you make BIOS update. SP L10 is old notebook models and if there is something wrong Toshiba have had enough time to replace offered BIOS update. I cannot imagine there is something wrong.
Pavlaras if you open zip file you will see exe file and it is logic to use this file to start BIOS update. I really don't understand how you come to EW3I3A26.WPH file. If you are not familiar with BIOS update why you make such risk before picking up some info how to do this.
I must say that I believe you have damaged BIOS chip and because of that you cannot start your notebook. Sorry but only authorized service provider can help you.

  • During BIOS update Satellite Pro A60 went down and hasn't started

    Hello everyone,
I have a Satellite Pro A60 and I updated the bios. Halfway the update, my laptop went down and hasn´t started since. All it does is give a couple of beeps (trying to tell me the bios is corrupted, I suppose) and shuts itself off again.
Tried to start with the (~) key pressed down (a tip I got from a friend), but no succes.
I currently live in a country where there is no Toshiba dealer available and I rather not ship the laptop to have it repaired.
Does anyone know of a way to fix this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

    This sounds not good.
If during the POST the BIOS detects a problem it will normally display a visual error message on the monitor explaining what the problem is. However, if a problem is detected before the BIOS initializes the video card or a video card is not present or not detected then the BIOS will play several BEEPS through the speaker to let you know there is a problem.
Depending on the type of the BIOS you have the BIOS may play beeps in a specific pattern to indicate what the problem is, or play the same beep a number of times indicating the problem.
In your case its possible that you have used a wrong BIOS or a wrong BIOS procedure. Both can damage the motherboard.
To prevent such damages and any mistakes Toshiba has published the FAQ document.
How to update the BIOS on most units!
This you should read before doing any BIOS updates!
Unfortunately I dont think that you can solve it yourself. I think you should ask the ASP for help.

  • After v1.90 BIOS update Satellite Pro A300-1EA wont boot up

I have just upgraded my laptop to the new BIOS as stated in the title but after doing it my computer now wont boot up at all. I just get a blue screen with it asking me to do a CHKDSK because there might be a virus or that the hard drive isn't connected properly (when it is), and it just keeps rebooting.
It wont start in safe mode either. Anyone else had the same problem and if so, how do I get my laptop back?? :(
    Thanks for any replies.

Please don't be mad on me but I think you really didn't read users manuals you got with your notebook. There is exactly described how you can have factory settings again.
So, now you are 100% sure that recovery image is not on the HDD but you don't know how to have factory settings again. Strange.
Remove battery, connect AC adapter only and disconnect all attached external devices.
Start your notebook and enter BIOS settings. Set it to default settings and try to start OS again.
    What happen exactly?

  • Satellite Pro L10: sound card does not support Windows 7

    Hi
i have a Satellite Pro L10 so i installed a Windows 7 on my system but my laptop can not support Windows 7.
I need update of sound card for Windows 7.
The model of sound car is Conexant CX20468-31 AC97 Audio Sound Card.
    Please help me

    Hi buddy
What to say first of all you will not get official drivers for this notebook for Win 7 or Vista.
This notebook is oldie and I doubt the drivers will be released.
Reading through this forum threads Ive noticed that most of the user use the Vista driver on Win 7 OS.
Maybe you should google for the Conexant AC97 Vista driver and should try a Vista driver on Win 7
    Good luck

    Hi buddy,
there are such special "VGA-to-TV" Converter like this one http://www.smarthome.com/7743.html . The benefit of this box is, that you can make some accurate settings for your picture.
Otherwise you can try that thing which pedro suggested.

  • Satellite Pro L10 - Unmountable Boot Volume

My Satellite Pro L10 loops at the boot process. After the Windows XP splash screen, the following error messages comes up: .... Unmountable boot volume... Technical Information: Stop: 0x000000ED...
I know this is nothing exceptional and doing a full recovery would solve the problem. But I don't want to loose the data (which of course is not backed up). I tried a Windows XP disc, but it won't boot from the cd/dvd drive pressing F12 or <0> and changing the boot order....
    Can anyone help please?

    Hi
Hmm the error message unmountable boot volume appears mostly if the HDD cannot be recognized during the booting. Why? Well, possibly the HDD malfunctions or the master boot record is faulty!
If you dont want to recover the notebook you could try to boot from the XP CD (press C button immediately after notebook powering) and to start the repair console.
In the repair console you could use the command chkdsk /p and after this you could fix the master boot record using the command fixboot or/and fixmbr.
If it does not help, the new OS installation is you last resort.
Ps: if you want to backup the data you can try to remove the HDD and try to connect it via external USB HDD controller to another computer.

  • Satellite Pro L10-103 - USB ports not working

Hi, my Satellite Pro L10-103 USB Ports are not working. I've tried various things and lastly my advisor scrubbed my computer clean of all programmes and operating system. After reloading from the set up disk and having lost my some expensive programmes I am no further forward. Still not working.
Does anyone know if this means it is a mechanical problem with the computer? (I'm using Windows XP). Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Try please just to install chipset driver .

  • Satellite Pro L10: How to make WLAN status to be always ON?

We have Satellite Pro L10 laptops at school. The button on the front of the machines that allows you to disable the wirless network is a real pain because it is an extra thing to go wrongwhilst trying to get a laptop to access our school wireless network.
Is there anyway of disabling this button so that the laptops will always access avaialble wireless networks?

try removing the Wifi mini pci card and isolate pin 11 and 13 on the card with a small piece of tape or nail varnish. This worked for me in my satellite to force the card to be allways on. You can still disable it with the software though. You count the pins odd numbers on the top of the card (aerial connection side) and evens below. Dont forget the pin on its own on the left of the card (this being the number 1 pin) Hope this is some use to you and works.. :)

  • Intermittent WiFi on Satellite Pro L10 /D-Link WAP

Equipment: new Satellite Pro L10 with Centrino & integrated Intel Pro 2200BG wifi and D-Link DWL2100Ap wireless access point. The new laptop works on a neighbour's wireless network (all day), and my Sony laptop works on our D-Link based network. However the new Toshiba works for a while first thing in the day (maybe 2 hours) then stops working with increasing frequency. By afternoon it won't work for more than a second or so.
Mostly, however, the icon says it's connected and config free says it's connected; show wireless networks varies - different bits of the system disagree about connection status, but no data flows.
The D-link WAP always says it has the Toshiba as a client. Selecting "repair" normally makes it work for a second or two.
It always seems to have an allocated IP number, according to IPCONFIG - however, if I try connecting late in the day and it doesn't already have an IP it can't stay connected for long enough to get one.
    Very frustrating. Any help appreciated.

    Hello
    Well its very strange.
You said that the notebook works on the neighbors wireless Lan very well.
In this case I dont think that its a problem of Wireless Lan card.
Try to check the settings on your rooter.
Maybe you can compare your settings with the neighbors.
    Bye

  • Satellite Pro L10: Can't update BIOS

Hello, I've tried (three times) to update my BIOS using the Windows version, however each time I try, it fails and sends a report to Microsoft - does anyone know what the problem is and how to fix it?

    Hi
Firstly you have to know that if you use wrong BIOS or wrong BIOS update procedure you can damage the notebook (motherboard)
I have checked the Toshiba page and it seems that at this time the news BIOS release is from 25/04/06 - version 2.6
Please check this BIOS FAQ document:
    http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/faq.jsp?z=234&service=EU&from=faq_selection&CFID=B IOS&FID=TRO0000000b07
There you will find how to update the BIOS.
According to this document you have to use the traditional BIOS update (BIOS Upgrade Procedure 2).

  • No AHCI in BIOS in Satellite Pro A200

I just installed an ssd and would like to change the bios utility to ahci however there isnt an area that i am able to do this. the Computer is a Toshiba Satellite Pro A200 (psfa1a-003002).
Do I need to update the BIOS? Where do I get the update and how do I update it?

As far as I know BIOS update doesn't offer some additional options. Please check BIOS settings again. In advanced BIOS options there should be SATA option and there you can change between compatibility and AHCI mode.
I have it on my P200. It is almost identical machine but 17 and your is 15 model.

  • ACPI Compliant BIOS for Satellite Pro A30

Hello, I have a Satellite Pro A30 which has 1GB RAM and P4 2.8GHZ CPU. I was wondering when toshiba would be supplying ACPI compliant BIOS upgrades for these machines? Because I would like to upgrade to Windows Vista, upon running the Vista Upgrade Advisor, my machine will run Windows Vista Business, but I just want to use Windows Vista Basic.
So I began the upgrade from within Windows XP and once the machine re-booted to begin the Vista installation I was confronted with the Blue Screen, stating that my BIOS wasn't fully ACPI compatible.
This seems like such a shame as the machine is upto running Vista, but Toshiba have not provided ACPI bios upgrades. My bios revision is 1.80.
    Any idea?

    Hi Keith,
I have an A30 also, after Googling around I've found that the A30 is ACPI 1.0 compliant and Vista requires ACPI 2.0, there is little difference and there are workarounds published on the net but they seem too complicated for me. The websites I've read think it is unlikely Tosh will release an updated BIOS as they would rather users upgraded their computers.
I've been to the BIOS (Phoenix) makers website and followed a link to BIOS agent. They informed me they haven't produced an upgraded BIOS yet but I should try again in 6 months.
I hope this helps a little, if I find anything constructive out I'll post it.

  • SD-C2612 IDE#1 Error after wrong firmware update - Satellite Pro A10

    Hi
I've got a Toshiba Satellite Pro A10 which has been flashed with the wrong firmware (i dont know which one as i didnt do it).
I've tried flashing it with the correct firmware (1315) but get the message for the Primary Master and Slave as 'Not ATAPI Device' and 'Drive Not Connected'.
NB: On boot up, even with the DVD ROM removed, I still get the IDE#1 Error.
Would updating the bios to the latest version help or are there any options open to me to resolve this issue other than resorting to the pin 47 & 45 connection? Would this even solve it?
Thanks in advance for any advice you can give.
    Best regards
    Angus

    > I've got a Toshiba Satellite Pro A10 which has been flashed with the wrong firmware (i dont know which one as i didnt do it).
Lol :D I dont wonder that you get the IDE#1 Error message.
As you said by yourself you have flashed the drive with the wrong firmware. This has damaged the drives master/slave/c-sel settings and therefore the BIOS doesnt recognize the CD/DVD drive. But I ask myself why someone flashes the drive with a wrong firmware ?:| It's always known that a wrong firmware can damage the CD/DVD drive... and mostly it's not necessary to update the firmware.
    > Would updating the bios to the latest version help
The BISO update will not help you because youve got already right BIOS and its NOT a BIOS issue but the wrong and not compatible firmware is stored.
    > or are there any options open to me to resolve this issue other than resorting to the pin 47 & 45 connection? Would this even solve it?
I dont know if this helps but I know that this is not advisable because this can damage the CD/DVD drives hardware
I would recommend contacting the ASP in your country maybe the guys could bring the CD/DVD drive back to life. Lets hope

  • Blank screen after display driver update Satellite Pro P200

I installed the latest ATI Mobility Radeon HD2600 display driver (8.432, from the Toshiba site via Tempo) on my Satellite Pro P200 yesterday. On rebooting everything looks fine as far as the Windows Vista Business "Please wait ..." screen, but instead of displaying the login page I get a blank screen (with a mouse cursor that moves around as normal). All I can do at this point is power off, and I've run out of ideas on how to get any further.
    Things I've tried:
    # booting into safe mode, low-resolution video or last known good configuration all result in the same blank screen.
    # connecting to the system using remote desktop (to disable the driver) isn't possible because the system hasn't loaded the network drivers yet.
    # I can't revert to a restore point because Vista can't find any (I made a manual one after installing windows updates on a couple of days ago).
I can run a command prompt from the system recovery options and would prefer to use that to disable the driver +if+ I knew how before resorting to the more drastic options.
A web search (http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=ati+catalyst+vista+blank+screen&hl=en&sa= N) reveals that this has happened on a wide range of laptops with
previous releases of the driver, but none of the links I've looked at give a solution that's available to me.

No joy with an external screen so I bit the bullet and reinstalled from the product recovery disk. I tried expert mode to retain the data partition but that failed twice, so I had to restore it from the previous day's backup after doing a full reinstall. Two consolations, though.
    # It allowed me to increase the size of the data partition.
    # The display driver update worked fine on the fresh install.
Needless to say I've since found [http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927525] which describes how you can disable a problem device driver (atikmdag in my case) from the system recovery command prompt :-(
Hopefully the instructions in there will help anybody who gets caught with similar problems.
