BIOS Vcore set to Auto

Hello I have a K9N SLI V2 Mobo and for some reason my Vcore option is set to auto and I can't change it nor highlight the Vcore Voltage option. I have Tried everything from contacting MSI to clearing the CMOS, updating the BIOS to 1.1, and nothing happens it still is at Auto. I used to have a AMD Athlon 64 X2 5200+ and the Vcore option wasn't set to auto I could actually change it but to only 1.25Vcore but ever since I upgraded to a Phenom 9500 I can't highlight it or anything. I read about other people being able to get there Vcore all the way up to 1.35V with my board.
Specs:
AMD Phenom 9500 Quad Core
4GB's DDR2 RAM
2 MSI 8800GTS's OC in SLI
2 1TB HDD's
Corsair 650W PSU

This works for me for nVidia chipsets.

Voltage options in bios all set to auto and greyed out

I have a MSI X48C motherboard. The bios allows me to change the FSB, FSB/Memory ratio along with a couple of other values, but all the voltages are set to auto and greyed out so I can't change them. I don't understand why this is the case. How am I able to change these voltages. I have tried enabling and disabling various functions in the bios, but nothing seems to unlock the voltages. What do I have to do?

It states this at the bottom of each bios screen, the help menu states this information, and the manual states it.

Z77MA-G45 Vcore resets to auto bug

Hello,
i've discovered a bug in the bios of this MB where the Vcore setting resets to auto no matter if i set it in BIOS or clickbios, MB has the latest BIOS (V1.9)
please adivce(or if i should open a support ticket not in this forum as well), as this bug is making it impossible to resolve a stability issue where i need to test vcore settings
edit: i downloaded Control Center and it does show the offset i set in the bios... so it's definitively a BIOS bug

i have somewhat/somehow stabilized my OC.
i won't disable enhance turbo as i want ALL my cores at max turbo all the time, it's a dealbreaker for me to disable that. Same with EUP(my machine is not shut down it's left on S3 so i want eup)
Essentially the only change is that i disabled "intel C-state".
i'm now running with multis set at x43, won't go higher without crashing or reaching ~95°.

That is how I run mine, and it is stable at 4.6, it throttles down to 1600 the boost to 4.5 under load.
Maybe with these setting your v-core wont go back to auto. I also leave my long duration at 77 wats

K9N Platinum vcore setting

i have the K9N Platinum MB, with an AMD 4200 X2 cpu, i have tried to overclock
this chip and have been successful to 11x240 settings with vcore 1.45V, if i try to go
any higher the system just shuts down,what is the max vcore(set in "cell menu") that
i can go with this cpu/MB combo, i have the newest bios, v1.60...?
also anytime i try to manually set the memory timings, the board won't boot...i have OCZ PC2 5400 DDR2 memory
the Gold edition with heat spreaders...can you make some suggestions for setting the timings?

Z87-G45. VCore setting ignored. Set to 1.147V but maxes out at 1.3V!!

Hi guys, first post here and I couldn't find any similar threads. I'm a complete noob with overclocking, but I had a 4.1GHz overclock on my i5-4670K with 1.147V (1.195V w/ -0.049 offset, adaptive mode) stable for over a year. All other settings were at default.
I reinstalled windows 3 weeks ago, updated the BIOS from 1.8 to 1.9 and the ME drivers. I didn't touch the overclock settings afterwards due to studies, but when I did try a few days ago, the vcore setting I enter in the BIOS seems to be ignored. Using the same settings as before the reinstall (1.195vcore, -0.049 offset, adaptive mode), it is reported by CPU-Z to be 1.28-1.3V during a Prime95 stresstest.
Unlikely factors:
-error in CPU-Z voltage reading = not likely as the temps are about 20 degrees celsius higher than they previously were (70+ previous, 95-99 current)
-prime95 = i used this same program to stresstest the CPU before the reinstall without similar issues
What I've tried so far:
- Changing CPU multiplier to 41x vcore to 1.147 without offset = 1.33V reported by CPU-Z (Picture shows these settings)
- Tried rolling back the BIOS version to 1.8 using MFlash = no change
The attached picture shows the settings, but the CPU meter temps are still 80+ as I only ran the test for 5 seconds for fear of overheating.
I hope there's a solution to this. I don't have much understanding of what controls vcore (bios, OS, ME, etc) so I don't know what else I can do to diagnose and fix this. If anyone could offer any solutions or help, I would appreciate it greatly.

EDIT: I only used Command centre to show the voltage setting in the screenshot. BIOS was used to change settings. I might add that command centre has always crashed within half an hour of opening it, and thus I've never relied on it.

Hi again, just an update on my situation. I've effectively corrected my problem, but my OC settings are still not functioning exactly like before.
I reinstalled windows (not a system image restore) without installing any of the mobo drivers that liveupdate recommends. I can achieve a stable 4.1GHz OC with 1.168V (reported by CPU-Z). The only error is that my vcore is set to 1.195 (offset -0.049), which used to give a VID of 1.147V, not 1.168V.
Still, I'm quite happy that at least I can run a stable 4.1GHz overclock at below 1.2V, which didn't work when I started this thread.
Now the only question left, since I purposely didnt install most mobo drivers, is whether I need to install the Chipset drivers or "management engine" drivers listed on my motherboard's support page? (http://www.msi.com/support/mb/Z87-G45-GAMING.html#down-driver&Win7 64)

Tecra A11-1EG - cannot access BIOS after setting supervisor password

Hello, I wonder if anyone can help ?
We have just started to put a supervisor password onto our Tecra A11 laptops so our pupils cannot set passwords on the hard drive etc.
To get into the BIOS and set a BIOS password, we press F2 as the machine starts.
We then go into the security option, then supervisor password.
Having entered the password we want to use twice, we press F10 to save etc.
The machine starts ok and goes in to windows without a hitch.
The problem we have now is that we cannot get back into the bios at all.
As the machine starts we press the F2 key as before but unlike previously the screen just remains blank and the 'Toshiba leading Innovation >>>' screen no longer appears.
If we keep our finger on the F" key or keep pressing it the laptop just restarts without ever getting to the BIOS screen where I assume we will get asked for the supervisor password we set earlier?
Is there another key we should be pressing as the laptop starts ?
I should add we have added a supervisor password for the BIOS security screen on three of our laptops and all three have the same issue.

In some cases you need to press the "INS" key while Toshiba logo appears.
Then a prompt for the Supervisor Password would appear and if the password is certified then the BIOS could be entered by pressing the "F2" key.

Won't boot from HP Recovery CD. Bios is set for ATAPI CD/dvd as priority. Boot menu only shows HD.
More detailed:
Purchased HP recovery CD's from Hp. Put the CD in, went into the bios, set it up so the CD/dvd rom would be priorty in boot device. Saved and exited. Computer reboots, I press f9 to select from boot menu, Only the hard drive is shown. The ATAPI CD/dvd rom drive is not...I reboot and let it go past the first screen.
BOOTMGR is missing.
Press Ctrl alt delete to restart.
^^ That is where I am at. The CD-rom drive is functional, it spins, it works. The bios has it recognized.
(This computer DOES NOT have an OS, so I am trying to put a fresh install in it. The CD is bootable, it came from HP saturday. I tested it on my Desktop and it boots like a charm.

Hi! In your situation, I recommend ordering the recovery media from Toshiba. I'm thinking that your OS has been corrupted by a Virus and you no longer have the hidden recovery partition. Also - my battery has been telling me "service battery" for a LONG time and then it switched to "replace soon" som time ago. Can't really see what this has to do with anything but whatever.
That could conceivably explain all the problems you're describing. Replacing a Mac's battery should not be postponed since a failed battery will cause other problems to occur. It is also possible that its hard disk has failed, which means the information on it may soon become unrecoverable.

If that Time Machine backup remains intact, it may be the only viable means of recovering that Mac's information. I suggest you do not attempt to restore its contents to your ailing Mac.
Given that you are having trouble creating a newer Time Machine backup you should stop using that Mac immediately and have it serviced as soon as you are able. Do not take it to anyone other than Apple or a service facility authorized by Apple, for the very reasons you explained. If there are no Apple Stores in your vicinity search for an Authorized Apple Service Provider using the Contact Us link below. Use one of the options that appear under Contact Apple Support. You have had good information here. I will not repeat that here.
I would like to add:
you have incompatible software: start in SafeMode, read Woodmeister and see if it is free of issues.
Akamai is crap software needed or not, Huawei the same.
It is very possible that the keygenerator you used for generating a key for some softwares has infected your mac.
The non-regular software with the false key(s) are not compatible probably or generate malware. Luckily you can not update them automatically because the keygenerator blocked the software for contacting the developer... I propose to consider getting rid of those softwares by really good uninstalling.
You have a beautiful mac, don't degenerate it with crapped software. There are alternatives for expensive software, for example Adobe Photoshop has a free alternative (with a less beautiful interface) in GIMP. And so on.

My iPad suddenly stopped connecting to my home network. It shows the network to. Choose from but there is no IP address or other information on the network page. It is set on DHCP and proxy is set at auto. Do I have another setting wrong?

When I look at details in that network it does not show IP address or any other info for the network. Setting is on DHCP and http proxy is set on auto. Network is active and can connect on wife's iPad and other home computers. Do I have another setting wrong?

Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
