Bip files

Are bip files as the same in quality as wav or aif files. Are they merely just a lesser quality snapshot that should not be used in favor of a wav or aif? Is a bip file something that is recommended to fly into other formats, ie.protools instead of your using original file format?

Actually he did answer your question.
The bip file is simply a WAVE or AIFF file (based on your preferences setting), that has a "bip" acronym added to the file name.
In other words, it IS a WAVE or AIFF file, so the quality is the exact same as any other WAVE or AIFF file
So you can send those "bip" file off to protools... the ONLY difference is that "bip" is added to the NAME of the file.

  • BI Publisher Multiple tray/ Renaming of file / Zipping of BI Publisher O/P

    Hi Team,
    I want to know, whether we can achieve the following task in embedded BI publisher or not.
    Also, if we can do, let me know what are the possible steps to achieve them:
    1. Multiple Tray selection
    Here multiple Tray means different tray available in a single printer i.e tray 1 can have A4 paper, tray 2 can have A3 paper , tray 3 can have pre- printed stationary etc. so our BIP output can be send to multiple tray.
    *2. Checking the groupings - how many levels*
    Embedded BIP can provide a maximum of upto 4 levels of grouping.
    our requirement demand to group upto 7 level, I have suggested that we can achieve this through manual coding in RTF.
    *3. Email Feature - HTML (body is dynamic).*
    BIP has this emailing facility where we can have dynamic body in a mail. We need to figure out what max no of character , we can have in the body.
    *4. Reports that are uploaded to different folders.*
    It means that PDF/RTF files should be able to be copied to different folders like C:\DMU, D:\CTA etc
    5. Inserting records into SQL
    We need to find way for connecting to database and inserting our BIP records.
    6. Renaming files for the Email and Doc Central.
    We need to find out methods where we can rename our BIP outputs.Generally BIP file name gets generated automatically with UBE engine when it generates XML file.
    *7. Integrate with Doc Central (PDFs and Common XML)*
    Client is having one DOC Central software where client keeps repository of all its documents. we need to figure out that can we integrate our JDE with DOC central for keeping our BIP outputs in it.
    *8.Zipping of the files and sending the documents by FTP.*
    we need to figure out ways where we can zip our BIP outputs and send it through FTP.
    Let me know possible ways to achieve above 8 constraints, any java/dot net program if require to meet those above 8 facilities are also welcome.
    Thanks!

    Hi ,
    Do not have an answer yet . but with some research and trials it seems this may not be possible.

  • Logic 9 corrupts EXS insts created/edited in Logic 8

    OK, I thought this issue was limited only to EXS instruments that used the VSL Performance Tool, but I'm finding that many (if not all) instruments I created or edited in Logic 8 are corrupted in Logic 9.
    Something fishy is going on in the EXS architecture between these versions. To be specific, it seems that EXS in Logic 9 doesn't recall certain parameters that I've set in version 8: zone loop on/off, start & end points, crossfade, LFO settings and on and on.
    This is an absolute show-stopper: I have HUNDREDS of custom EXS patches I created in Logic 8 alone that are unusable in Logic 9!
    Anybody else experiencing this?

    Specifically, mod matrix parameters do not recall properly. On some mod/matrix slots, values known to have been saved with non-zero values are recalled as zero. See the following link for an insight:
    http://www.logicprohelp.com/viewtopic.php?t=45379
    "Logic Expert", I admire your optimism though I may note entirely share it. I post feedback because it's one of the few channels we have to report bugs. The value in the forums -- as Jim said -- is to make others aware of problems, get confirmation from other users experiencing the bugs, and, dare I say, vent on occasion. And, of course, to occasionally have a laugh.
    For bugs there's also the ADC Bug Reporter, but there isn't enough time in the day to write up reports in the format they (understandably) request. If you're going to go the ADC route you're basically agreeing to be an unpaid beta tester. And the reality of using the Bug Reporter is that you won't necessarily get confirmation of the bugs you report. So you're feeding information into a system that promises basically nothing in return, not confirmation, not a 'thank you'. Only if you're really lucky will you get a response or a request for additional info.
    What I don't quite understand is what is so inappropriate about people occasionally expressing their anger because the software they just paid hundreds of dollars for doesn't work as advertised or as expected. Not saying that continual rant-fests is the way to go... far from it. But the frustration is there. It's visible everyday, world-wide on the 'Net vis a vis news articles, blogs, forums, on any number of issues related to Apple products, from laptop batteries blowing up to über-buggy software titles. And Apple's reputation for non-response is legendary.
    So what is it about Apple that they should be approached walking on eggshells, or not apprised of the tens of thousands of cumulative man-hours of wasted time and frustration assumed by customers unwitting of the beta-like software they just paid good money for? What is clearly not understood by some power-that-is (and I would also opine that the Emapple guys are not at fault here) is that _people make their living using these wares_. Logic is not a toy! But to advertise it as ready for public consumption and then to see things like this EXS mod matrix bug literally prevent people from making their living is reprehensible.
    You speculate that Apple reads the feedback. Sure, I think sending feedback is very important. However, I speculate that the Emapple guys are already aware of some (but not all) of these bugs. But I can't help but think that their hand was forced in putting Logic 9.0.0 out to market when it really should have been put out to pasture with a lot of other RC's.
    In terms of being hopeful, yes, let's hope that 9.0.1 comes out REAL quick and fixes, amongst other things:
    • EXS modulation matrix recall bug
    • UNDO history non-recall bug
    • no way to avoid creating take folders when punching into a track bug
    • remainder of punched-into MIDI region shortened when coming out of record
    • tempo event behavior that's vastly different from L8 (a confirmed bug with a fix purportedly in the works)
    • using "select unused" removes BIP files from the Arrange area
    • global track display doesn't function properly in the score editor
    • video thumbnail doesn't display in any Global tracks except those enabled in the Arrange page
    The bugs are real, but the rest is my opinion, which may differ from your opinion, YMMV, etc. etc.

  • BIP Report Output File

    Hi,
    Can a BIP report be automatically launched (PDF) from Siebel, after being generated from a workflow using the GenerateBIPReport Method of  the “XMLP Driver Service” BS.  OOTB the BS  saves the report in the Siebel file system and the user needs to navigate to my BIP and open the report.

  • Can we join external Excel file with data to an existing report in BIP

    Hi,
    I have created a report in BIP and the output being previewed is in Excel.
    ex : i'm trying to get emp_id , emp_name, emp_Address from a datasource called "EMPLOYEE_DEV".
    Now i have an external excel file (which has data) containg emp_job_title, emp_id, emp_salary...............this data comes from a different datasource called DETAIL_DATABASE.......
    My question - is it possible to join an external excel file (from different datasource - DETAIL_DATABASE) to an existing report in BIP(another datsource - EMPLOYEE_DEV ).
    Coz at the end i have to show emp_id, emp_name, emp_Address, emp_job_title, emp_salary........by using emp_id as a join between these two.
    Please help me with this.
    Thanks.

    Can you load the data from the excel file into a table that you can query against? If so, you can have two data models: one for the employee_dev and one for detail_database source and then use Concatenated SQL Data Source or you can have a single query with the data you need from both tables.
    BI publisher allows you to use a file as a datasource, however I believe it has to be an XML file. You should be able to save the Excel file as XML; however if you want to concatenate the data with another data model with a sql query, the data generated has extra tags and I am not sure if you will be able to use it to create a template.
    Hopefully others can chime in and provide any suggestions or experiences they have had in dealing with such situations.

  • BIP and Siebel server - file system and load balancing question

    1. I just need to understand whenever the reports are generated through BIP, are there reports stored on some local directory (say Reports) on the BIP server or Siebel File system? If on a File system how will archiving policy be implemented.
    2. When we talk of load balancing BIP Server. Can the common load balancer be used for BIP and Siebel servers?

  • BIP download 11.1.1.5  file Disk 2 (2of2) issue

    Hi,
    I am unable to download and extract Disk 2 (2of2) of Oracle Business Intelligence, v. 11.1.1.5.0 for Microsoft Windows x86 (32-bit)
    Please provide me the solution.

    I have exactly same issue with Oracle BI Publisher 11g Trial Edition (v11.1.1.7.1) for Windows 64 bit:
    The data and data type are declared as REAL numbers in Oracle 11g
    in BIP, the data source is a ordinary JDBC connection to Oracle 11g ( jdbc:oracle:thin:@[host]:[port]:[sid] )
    The numbers are fetched correctly from the database (XML)
    But then in the schema of the dataStructure I find integer instead of real ( <group name="G_3" label="G_3" source="test"> <element name="INDICE" value="INDICE" label="INDICE" dataType="xsd:integer" breakOrder="" fieldOrder="1"/> )
    The diagram has the 999 icon instead of 99E
    The Create Report wizard gives me empty columns in a Data Table for those real (now number) data elements
    The Element ->  Properties -> Data Type cannot be altered in the diagram
    Could this wrong behavior be fixed in the registry or a config file ?
    LNS_LANG or NLS_NUMERIC_CHARACTERS to consider ?

  • Create XML external file through BIP

    Hi All,
    I'm trying to create an XML document to send to a printing company.
    I've created the XSL template file and uploaded into BIP as an XSL Stylesheet.
    The problem I'm having is how to call the stylesheet from within an RTF file, so I can create an XML formatted file to send to the printing company.
    Can anyone point me in the right direction?
    Thanks, Rod.

    Marcus
    i'd recommend you create an empty project file in FCP and export it to XML.
    use the exported file as resource data, as it provides you with the basic XML project file container.
    then you can just add the additional <parent> and <child> elements as required
    also highly recommended would be the free XMLLib osax from Satimage, although it would be better if you learn how to do it with the built in libraries

  • Integration of BIP Report file bursting with Unix FTP directory(using IBot)

    We have a requirement for dynamically creating the folder in FTP server, which gets the bursted file when a BIP report is executed.
    We have used the following approach:
    Created a IBot with Custom Java Program which creates a folder dynamically in FTP, now we are facing the problem to integrate this IBot with the BIP report file bursting.
    Can anyone suggest how to overcome this issue or is there any alternative approach to achieve the above requirement.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    The issue is caused by a bug in Microsoft Visual Studio.

    Unforatunately, we were not aware of this issue, and our build system did not have this patch installed. As it seems all our test environments worked correctly with BI Publisher Desktop. We are checking if we can release a patch or find another work around.
    The Microsoft site mentions the following work around:
    Note This problem does not occur when you log on by using a Microsoft Windows user account that has restricted permission.

  • BIP bursting large document size files.

    We have BIP and we are running FSG's and bursting them to BIP standalone product. Our files are large and when we process a 500 meg file, the tag on the xml file get removed. Is there away to burst large reports without this happening? Or what is the size limit. We are currently creating 10 reports with different sizes to get the information from EBS to BIP.
    Any help with will be appreciated.
    Thanks

    Thanks for your response.
    Apologies, I've not explained myself well here. The majority of the information within the large pdf has come from word files although not all of it. There are also visio drawings and AutoCAD drawings. Generally with the AutoCAD drawings, I receive them already pdf'd and it is I suspect these which cause the large file size (they often contain OS mapping data or ECW files). I guess this explains the main reason I used pdf in the first place, it's software that can convert many diffferent file types into the same format, like in this instance. Unfortunately I am unable to post an example as the information relates to a government agency and the content may be deemed sensitive.
    The large file is essentially an electronic version of a suite of 6 hardcopy ringbinders. The obvious answer is to break down the document into smaller files (i.e. one for each volume of the suite). The problem here is that there are links within the file whereby references to other volumes are linked, taking the user straight to the section referred to. If I break the large file down I will lose this functionality, unless there is a way to link to a specific section of another document? If so, please enlighten me how this works.
    Hopefully I've explained things a little better now but whether my explanation helps find a solution I don't know.

  • BIP Error when trying to produce txt file

    Hi all !

         at oracle.apps.xdo.servlet.scheduler.XDOJob.generateReport(XDOJob.java:953)
    The report execution is started from a BIP web service call (ScheduleRequest). It works fine for pdf, rtf, csv, html and xml formats, but i can't a text file containing only eText formatted data (fixed positions, mainframe like file). Here's a code sample:
    BI_WS.ReportRequest BIreportRequest = new BI_WS.ReportRequest();
    BIreportRequest.attributeLocale = "en-US";
    BIreportRequest.reportAbsolutePath = "/~user/toto/TEST_WS_BI.xdo";
    string reportFileExtension;
    if(reportType.Equals("flat")){
    BIreportRequest.attributeTemplate = "flattest.rtf";
    reportFileExtension = "txt";
    BIreportRequest*.attributeFormat = "txt";*
    }else{
    BIreportRequest.attributeTemplate = "doc1.rtf";
    reportFileExtension = "pdf";
    BIreportRequest.attributeFormat = "pdf";
    So the question is:
    What "attributeFormat" value (other than pdf, rtf, csv, html, xml) should i use to get a text ONLY file with the format specified in the eText template ?
    Does anyone have an idea on this ? Thank you in advance.

    Just found the solution:
    You can't have a normal rtf template AND a eText template for a single report. In my case, i need two types of output, a "rich" one and a "flat text" one. So i'll make 2 separate reports for each output type. Thank you.

  • Default Report File location for BIP

    Hi Experts,
    Is there a way to change the File Location on where a BIP report is generated, whether via adhoc or a scheduled method?
    Any helpful inputs is highly appreciated :)
    Thanks!

    Hi,
    Based on my tested in my environment, I went to set the Default File Location via group policy.
    Word: Microsoft Word 2013/Word Options/Advanced/File Location/ and change the Default File Location
    Excel: Microsoft Excel 2013/Excel Options/Save and change Default file location
    Both of them works fine. As you said " However, Group Policy will set it in Excel." Does it mean that you set Word and Excel via two group policies at the same time, but it only works in Excel?
    If it is, please try to re-download and change the
    Word ADMX to test.
    If the issue still exist, please try to use Gpresult command Or RSOP to check group policy result on client.
    When troubleshooting group policy issues, we use the gpresult command to confirm whether GPOs are really applied to the client (computer/user). You can run the following command in a command prompt:
    gpresult /z > c:\policy.txt
    For more details about the usage of command Gpresult, please refer to the following link:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb490915.aspx
    When you read the output, the c:\policy.txt file in this sample, please
    examine the results of the report to find the answers to these questions.
    Does the report list the particular GPO as applied?
    Is the setting listed in the report?
    Is the GPO listed in the Denied List

    I am also getting the same error. Pls help.
    HI All,
    WE had done a report migration converting all our Actuate reports onto BI Publisher. The templates for the reports have been registered on the Siebel Screens and thus created on BI Publisher. We were able to view the reports and everything was fine. But then we had a netword crash and all the existing networks had to be reconfigured after which the BIPublisher reports are not accessible from the Siebel screens. I get an error
    Operation '<?>' of Web Service '<?>.<?>' at port '<?>' failed with the following explanation: "<?>".(SBL-EAI-04308)
    and when I try to login to BIPublisher to access the reports I get an error

    Could anyone help me figure this out?

    Is there any solution yet?
