• How to filter data in BIP Report fetched from Integration Object

Hi,
I have a requirement where I am extracting data of Account records of a Customer. Customer can have multiple types of Accounts. In BIP report, I want to different types of Customer Accounts in different tables. Is it possible? I tried but Conditional Region and Conditional Format options are not working for me. I am using BI Publisher desktop 10.1.3.4.1 version addon for MS Word.
I am pasting below sample XML for this.

Regards,
Prashant

I am trying to achieve this is ADF. I called a webservice which returns me data in the format as described above.
It is returning me one data element for each column of the row. For eg. if we have 4 Rows X 5 Columns, it is returning me 20 data elements.
I have to fall back on attributes of each data element to get the column name and row it belongs. If you the sample data above 'id' will point
to Column Name and 'sequence' points to rownumber.
How can I read through this data in java to get a specific column for each row. for eg. filter all data element where id='sch_name'.
Webservice returns me an object of XMLElement class.

• BIP Report in Siebel mobile is not working in languages other than English

Hi,
We have upgraded our Siebel from 7.8 to Siebel 8.1 and in that we have moved from Actuate to BIP Reports. We have created a customized report in which we have put in the Filters on '.rtf' file to show a particular set of data. This report is deployed for 3 languages : English (ENU), Portuguese (PTB) and Spanish (ESN).After deploying this report, on Web application, it is working fine for all the languages but we are facing an issue on mobile client, the report is only working fine in ENU but for other languages(PTB & ESN) it is failing (means the filter which we put on '.rtf' is not working on other languages).
Is anybody face this issue and what will be the solution for this?

Hi
I think you need to first translate the smartform into other languages. Before translation, it wont work.
Steps for translation:
1. goto Transaction SE63
2. in R3 Enterprise select form menu
Translation - ABAP Objects - Other long texts
3. select FS - SSF-Smart Form
4. Object Name: choose your smart form
5. select target language
6. press edit
Regards,
Vishwa.

• BIP Report access via URL in OBIEE

Experts, I want to access a BIP report via URL in OBIEE. Here are the details. I already have Answers request with 'Is Prompted' filters. I have a dashboard prompt. The request works according to the values given in the prompt. Say, the user gives some filter conditions in the prompt and the result returns 10 records.Now, due to some business requirements, I want the same result set(10 records) to be opened in a new window. For that we thought of using BIP and invoking this BIP report from OBIEE. Any ideas how can we accomplish this.
thx,
parag

I mean to say that....assume your first view might be pivot report,then you create a BIP report from answers and place the view just below the pivot view in the dashboard.
Globally you give those prompts ,so that when you give values....it applies to both the views in the dashboard.
Suggest the end user instead of pop up....you can view both views at a single instance :) .......Give a meaning full name for that BIP report according to what you want to achieve
=====================================================================
EDITED:
you can use go url for your pop-up .....but you need to pass the variable values of the prompt to the go-url so you can achieve your requirement.
let the end user pass dynamically any values multiple times but the same should be passed to the go-url to get what you want.
========================================================================
EDITED
I suppose YES we need to pass all the 5 prompt values to BIP report......if user gives 3 values then it filters on those 3 values and only 3 will be passed to BIP i suppose.
Never tried this passing 3 values and next session passing 2 values.....Play around with your requirement you will achieve it.
hope all questions are answered.Mark Points.

• How to show the Dashboard Filter Promts in a BI Publisher report?

Hi,
I have a problem when trying to pass Dashboard Prompt Filters from OBI Analysis to a Publisher Report?
Im working in OBIEE 11g. Where I simply can integrate the BI publisher to show the same result set as shown in the Analysis (Answers) Report.
I have also created dummy tables in my Analysis Report that shows the presentation variables from the prompts and I have also one dummy table that shows a session variable with a String when the DW was updated.
I use these dummy tables to be able to pass the promt values to BI Publisher.
The problem I have is that...
I can see that the Strings I have Prompted in my Analysis Report, but only the default values are shown in my BIP report.
-It works fine with my session variable that I display as a string in a dummy table as well as in the BIP report.
-Is there any other way to show the prompted Filters as information in a BI Publisher report??????
Thanks,
Ken

Is there a reason why you don't use the presentation variables directly to filter the BI publisher report?
If you use the presentation variables, then ensure that the presentation variables associated with the prompt exactly matches the BIP report parameter name. In this case, you can create another datamodel with a sql that selects the parameters. for example: select :param1, :param2 from dual. In that case, the xml will include the parameter values and you should be just able to insert the param fields in the template.
Thanks!

NOTE: we observed some special cases
if the report contain any Graph(chart) then this error is coming,
with the plain report (means only text), we observe it working fine.
could any one help, for debugging this issue

• Remove option to edit BIP report filters

Hello experts,
is it possible to remove the ability for users to edit one or more filter options on the BIP reports ?
I open a report and set the default valude on the field p_varchar_OrgName to "SALES". When a user is running this report, I don`t want them to edit that field, its a static value.
Thank you
- Remi

Just open any design report page and click on 'open saved filter', in the open saved filter pop up, after you select the required filter you want to edit, an 'Applied Saved Filter' pop will be presented to you. In that select the check box next to 'Apply contents of filter instead of a reference to the filter'. After you do that, in the filter section you can edit the filter and save it again with the same name

• BIP 10.1.3.4 with WLS Embedded LDAP

Hi All,
Details of my setup.
1. BIP installed in weblogic
2. BIP Security model setup to point to LDAP (wls embedded). The following details I specified:
a. cn=Admin/passwd
b. Distinguished Name for Users:
ou=people,ou=myrealm,dc=base_domainname
c. Distinguished Name for Groups
ou=groups,ou=myrealm,dc=base_domainname
d. Rest all left blank.
3. I created the XMLP_* (all 5 groups to in the wls myrealm).
4. I created the users and assigned them the above 5 groups as well as all other groups that were present.
5. I did create the Super User also.
I am able to login using the LDAP users but I am not able to see the Reports (as well as Admin tab etc), whenever I click on the Shared folders I get an "Unauthorized Access: Contact Admin" error.
I suspect BIP is not able to resolve the groups for the users.
Could anyone tell me where I am wrong and what needs to be done. I think I have not provided the group details like search filter, group attribute name etc.
I am a bit new to weblogic and not sure what are the details that I should provide for the embedded ldap in BIP.
Any help is much appreciated.
Thanks

• NO 11g "Manage Filters" Online Layout "OR" filter operator!?

Hey guys,
I realize this is a totally n00b question about the BIP 11.1.1.5 Online Layout editor (for Interactive layout mode). I've created a complex P&L financial statement report in BIP using a Word RTF template, and I'd like to try to retool it into the online layout editor for possibly easier maintainability.
But I'm coming up against what looks like a fundamental limitation and problem to me in the online layout editor. I'd like to create either a Repeating Section object or a Data Table object that will display values if a few certain values are found in the data. So, I want my filter to do something like this (to display the section or table):
If Group = 'ABC'
If Group = 'XYZ'
Problem is, in my "Manage Filters" window, I need to be able to supply an "OR" filter operator between those two lines! It's an implicit "AND" operator between them apparently.
I would gladly use an "IN" operator instead of "=" if it existed, but alas, I don't see that option either in my Manage Filters controls.
Has anyone else come up against this in the 11g online layout editor for interactive mode output? Am I missing something totally obvious here that's right under my nose and I just can't seem to see it or find it?
Thanks,
Jeremy

Hi BIPuser,
Thanks so much for the reply; sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I believe you are referring to the group filter functionality on the data model itself, correct? If so, that's a good thought and maybe I can use that approach, but it means I would have to potentially break up my "master" data set into many, many copies to get this "OR" like functionality.
For example, suppose I had 26 groups, groups A-Z that I wanted to show together in different report sections in my final layout. So I want A&B, C&D, E&F, etc. Instead of having one master data set with report-level grouping that way, I guess I'd have to break my data model into 13 different data sets, each one group filtered for A&B, C&D, E&F, etc, right?
That approach seems to involve a lot more setup and data set maintenance, when all I really want is just an "OR" ability in the report layout designer itself. Something exactly like OBIEE provides in the filter section in the Criteria tab of a BI Analysis (when developing a query there).
Now that I say that, maybe I can extend my OBIEE BI Analysis (I'm using that as the basis for my source), and perhaps I could create a new A&B, C&D, etc grouping column there to "bucket" my data together into a single data group to work around the online layout limitation of not having an "OR" filter operator available. Or, like you mentioned, I could even use the "Add Element by Expression" option in the data model itself if I wanted to manage it from there instead of OBIEE.
I still say it would be easier if they would just give us a filter "OR" ability in the "Manage Filters" dialog in the layout editor. :)
Thanks again BIPuser!

1) Raised SR with MOS team and created bug it's fixed feature 11.1.1.7 version
Bug 14635134 - BI COMPOSER - CAN'T BUILD FILTERS ON DATE COLUMNS
From bug 14205672 it looks like this may already be resolved in 11.1.1.7.
2) for error "Invalid BIPS Connection" we need to configure composer via FWM - EM then save it and then commit that changes. after tested it's working fine.

• Attaching additional BLOB pdf document to an email snet by BIP Bursting

Hi,
I am trying to attach an additional pdf document which is stored in the database as a BLOB to an email that is sent via BIP bursting. I am using Oracle Applications v11.5.10.2. Does anyone have any input on how to do this or if its possible? Basically, I am generating a BIP report and sending it in an email using the Bursting process within BIP, but I want to attach an additional .pdf document to the same email. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Dynamic Delivery Content
You can reference information in the XML data to be put into the delivery content. This
takes the same format described above (that is, ${ELEMENT}).
For example, suppose you wanted to burst a document to employees via e-mail and
personalize the e-mail by using the employee's name in the subject line. Assuming the
employee's name is held in an element called ENAME, you could use ${ENAME} to
reference the employee's name in the control file as follows:
subject="Employee Details for ${ENAME}"
Sample Control File
The following sample control file shows an example control file to split data based on
an EMPLOYEE element and send an e-mail to each employee with their own data. The
sample file is annotated.
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<xapi:requestset xmlns:xapi="[http://xmlns.oracle.com/oxp/xapi]">
<xapi:request select="/EMPLOYEES/EMPLOYEE"><! - This sets the bursting
element i.e., EMPLOYEE - >
<xapi:delivery>
<xapi:email server="rgmamersmtp.oraclecorp.com" port="25"
from="[[email protected]|mailto:[email protected]]" reply-to ="[[email protected]|mailto:[email protected]]">
<xapi:message id="123" to="${EMAIL}" cc="${EMAIL_ALL}"
attachment="true" subject="Employee Details
for ${ENAME}"> Mr. ${ENAME}, Please review the
attached document</xapi:message><! - This assigns a delivery id
of '123'. It also sets the e-mail
address of the employee and a cc copy to a parameter value
EMAIL_ALL; this might be a manager's e-mail. The employee's
name (ENAME) can also be used in the subject/body
of the email. - ></xapi:email>
</xapi:delivery>
<xapi:document output-type="pdf" delivery="123">
<xapi:template type="rtf" location="/usr/tmp/empGeneric.rtf">
<xapi:template type="rtf" location="/usr/tmp/empDet.rtf"
filter=".//EMPLOYEE[ENAME='SMITH']" ><! - Employees with the name
SMITH will have
the empDet template applied - >

• BIP Templates

Hi,
Can we just create one standard template and use it for all Answers reports in BIP? I am very new to BIP and need a little advice on this. Can we create one standard template or do we have to create one template for each report seperately for all Answers reports? From what i see in BIP the templates have all the report fields from Answers report...so am not sure if we can use a standard template since all reports have different columns coming from different tables. Thanks in advance.

hi,
So,You are planning to construct one standard template which will be used by different customers....
Here is my thoughts
1) We can construct a answers report let say 10 columns based on these u can build a BIP Template
Pros:
When u update the answers report by adding any filter condition like region is equal to south then the bip template data will filter accordingly
cons:
If u delete two columns in front end(answers report).But the RTF template will not update that
We have a work around like If @condition <XML_TAG> is null then NULL else "data"
But the problem is rows in that column are blank .....Column heading will not remove from template
Finally what i am saying is automatic addition and deletion of columns in answers report will not affect the bip template
PS: If u achieve this thing then you can make this as a product ;)
Thanks,

• In the filter scheme driver, how to i get the filename in open() or handleOpen ()

I want to implement filter scheme driver to monitor and prevent file open or read calls based on certain rules. For this I would need file name, user name and application process name. I did not find a way to extract this information. Any hint would be of great help.

If the reset doe not work, connect tot he comouter and try to restore via iTunes.

• AND/OR + some nulls in filter

I'm running into another problem with the AND/OR filter.
The filter for selecting from object "a" and joining to objects b, c & d
is:
(b.theid==2 || c.theid==2 || d.theid==3) && active=="Y"
The SQL that gets generated is:
SELECT <...>
FROM b t1, d t3, a t0, c t2
WHERE ((((t1.theid = 2 AND t0.bid = t1.id) OR (t2.theid = 2 AND t0.cid
= t2.id)) OR (t3.theid = 3 AND t0.did = t3.id)) AND t0.active = 'Y')
This returns a number of instances of the same a object when some of the
OR clauses do not match. For example, if there's no record
with d.theid=3, then it will do a full join on table d.
Do I need to specify something else to flag these as potentially null
fields so that the filter parser adds that check in? The following SQL
query works
ok if I add some checks for NULL on those join fields:
SELECT <...>
FROM b t1, d t3, a t0, c t2
WHERE ((((t1.theid = 2 AND t0.bid = t1.id OR t0.bid IS NULL) OR
(t2.theid = 2 AND t0.cid = t2.id OR t0.cid IS NULL)) OR (t3.theid = 3
AND t0.did = t3.id OR t0.did IS NULL)) AND t0.active = 'Y')
Thanks,
-Mike

Hi D,
Thank you for your answer.
I have seriously thought about that solution; but I don't think it's a smart way to do it.
If i do it like that, i need to copy the whole table and paste it inside the if statements.
I have two xml elements that I need to make the decisions on. POH_PO_TYPE & CP_RELEASE_NUM.
POH_PO_TYPE can be: STANDARD, RELEASE or BLANKET.
CP_RELEASE_NUM can be: '' or N
If POH_PO_TYPE is RELEASE AND CP_RELEASE_NUM is not ''
OR POH_PO_TYPE is STANDARD
OR POH_PO_TYPE is BLANKET AND CP_RELEASE_NUM is ''
THEN show table (which contains the whole PO).

• Jabber Windows - no phone control with LDAP Custom filter

I am unable to control the desktop phone from the Jabber 9.1 Windows client when the CallManager LDAP Directory uses a Custom Filter.
Has anyone else experienced this?
If I set the LDAP Custom Filter to <none> and save, then Desktop Phone control works great.
If I set it to use my custom filter, then trying to enable Desktop control just gives me the spinning circle, then times out to the Red X symbol.
I do not need to resync the LDAP Directory to get the error, just enable/disable the custom filter and save.
In both cases calling from the Computer works great.
This is an On-Prem deployment with full MS-AD LDAP integration.
Versions are:
Jabber - 9.1.0 build 12296
CUPC - 8.6.4.11900-1
CUCM - 8.6.2.22900-9
I upgraded to CUCM 8.6.2 SU2 last night hoping that would fix the problem, but no luck.
The LDAP filter is one I have used in numerous other clusters with no CTI issues.
It allows me to sync to the root directory, but only import active user accounts with an entry in the ipPhone AD attribute:
(&((objectclass=user)(ipPhone=*))(!(objectclass=Computer))(!(UserAccountControl:1.2.840.113556.1.4.803:=2)))
Thanks, Randy

Hi Randy,
Have you specified this base filter in jabber-config.xml file? As per Admin Guide:
"In some cases, base filters do not return query results if you specify a closing bracket in your Cisco Jabber for Windows configuration file. For example, this issue might occur if you specify the following base filter: (&(memberOf=CN=UCFilterGroup,OU=DN))
To resolve this issue, remove the closing bracket; for example, (&(memberOf=CN=UCFilterGroup,OU=DN)"
Thanks,
Maqsood
