BIP reporting through MS Word

Hi,
I need to create a pie chart and bar chart in BIP reports integrated with Siebel. I tried to format a picture by right clicking on the pie chart image in MS Word 2007 and paste a code in "Web" tab . But after I right click and select 'Format Picture' the "Web" tab is missing and I am not able to find it in "Advanced" or "Customize" or "Spoofing" etc.. Kindly help. Thanks in advance.

SOLVED Can no longer Log on to BI Publisher through MS-Word

Hello,
I am using the stand alone version of BI publisher in conjunction with Oracle 10g. I have the BI Desktop installed on my computer and have used it to create 20 some reports through MS-Word. All of the sudden when I try and use any of the "Oracle BI Publisher" menu items in Word I get an error message stating, "The Macro cannot be found or has been disabled because of your Macro security settings." I have tried lowering the Macro security setting and uninstalling then reinstalling BI Desktop without any positive result. I've shut down and restarted my machine as well.
The only thing I can think of that I changed on my machine recently would be that I uninstalled and then reinstalled Internet Explorer because I was experiencing problems with tabbed browsing. Oh and I also installed Firefox.
Has anyone had this problem before?

I was able to get it working by going into the BI directory and selecting the UI language changing utility. Once I reloaded the english version everything worked again. It is Odd, but it worked.

I created a BIP report(.xdo) and placed it on Dashboard as a link . As admin , I can see the report . As a user , I am able to get into publisher but not able to see the report . Iam getting the below error message .
Error : Unauthorized Access: please contact the administrator.
I suspect that security model from Dashboard through BIP is not working . I tried searching the online resources but couldnt find right help .
Iam a newbie for BIP , I followed the regular BIP guides , configured eveything as per the docs and things work as admin . But I want to test the security as user .
Where Iam doing wrong , Any ideas please help .

I have grant permissions to the user and the report in BI webcatalog and also in BIP under admin tab I have addes the role which the user belongs to and also the shared folder . Still the problem exists.
My BI presentation servcies security is working . My user security is also working , all that I need is the user should be able to see the report when he clicks on BIP link placed in dashboard.

How to filter data in BIP Report fetched from Integration Object

Hi,
I have a requirement where I am extracting data of Account records of a Customer. Customer can have multiple types of Accounts. In BIP report, I want to different types of Customer Accounts in different tables. Is it possible? I tried but Conditional Region and Conditional Format options are not working for me. I am using BI Publisher desktop 10.1.3.4.1 version addon for MS Word.

I am trying to achieve this is ADF. I called a webservice which returns me data in the format as described above.
It is returning me one data element for each column of the row. For eg. if we have 4 Rows X 5 Columns, it is returning me 20 data elements.
I have to fall back on attributes of each data element to get the column name and row it belongs. If you the sample data above 'id' will point
to Column Name and 'sequence' points to rownumber.
How can I read through this data in java to get a specific column for each row. for eg. filter all data element where id='sch_name'.
Webservice returns me an object of XMLElement class.

Generating BIP report in RTF format generates blank report

Hi all,
When generating a BIP report in RTF format the report output is blank!?
If I run the report in any other format the report displays the data correctly.
We're running siebel 8.1.1.2 and BIP 10.1.3.4.1.
When looking at the size of the report when the 'File Download' window appears it seem like the report contains data as the size is 62KB, compared to the pdf format which do display data is 20KB. The output generates the amount of pages that is needed for the report, but all pages are blank.
The report is an activity List report with just one for-each statement in it.
Has anybody come across the same?

To invoke Word automatically, use command
line options DESTYPE=CACHE,
DESFORMAT=RTF and MIMETYPE=application/msword.

1. Check the appropriate mimetype setting for Word by Starting Windows Explorer,
choose View -> Options from the menu, go to the File Type tab, find Microsoft
Word Document in this list, click Edit, and get the value for Content Type
(MIME). This is the value that needs to be used in the MIMETYPE command line
option, and it will typically be application/msword, but may differ on
different machines.

you can schedule the report and burst the output . (save it in FTP/local file location)
the link which you give has to refer same location where the webserver can access it .

Siebel & "BIP Report Generation" Workflow and Bookmark Syntax

IHAC that wants to schedule the generation of a BIP report to run every weeknight and include a list of activities for the next day. We've utilized an OOTB IO and can successfully render the report using Sample XML in MS Word. Additionally, since they are only on 8.1.1, they do not currently have access to the latest scheduling capabilities. Therefore, we're trying to implement a repeating component to call a workflow to generate the report using the 'BIP Report Generation' workflow and the associated objects (from support posting 823360.1).
Now to the questions:
One of the parameters for the workflow is a 'Bookmark'. This parameter does not appear to handle various 'Siebel' querying functions like 'Today()' as part of the criteria. Can someone confirm this statement?
Currently, I can imagine one high-level possible workarounds. This would entail a revised WF and that includes a prior step to generate the 'Bookmark' by retrieving a string representation of tomorrow's date and concatenating it with the rest of the criteria.
Next question:
Does anyone have any other possible alternatives? Maybe a calculated field in the BC/IC for 'Today() + 1' - but this could have performance implications.

i Have to display multiple tables in the word document . i am displaying the first table but when i try to display the second table it is getting displayed inside the first table. When i debugged , i found that that the cursor is still in the first row of the first table even after the first table is displayed and the second table is displayed from that cursor position. Passing multi-value parameter from BIEE dashboard to BIP report

It is possibile passing multi-value parameter from BIEE dashboard prompt to BI Publisher integrated report? (BIP report has a DB data source (not a answers))

Hi Rajkm,
In order to pass a multi-value parameter through the Reporting Services Web services, you need to define the same numbers of ParameterValue objects as the number of the values of the multi-value parameter being past into the report. The Name property
of these ParameterValue objects must be specified same to the parameter name.

Link from OBIEE Report to BIP Report

I have a requirement in which I need to Create a Report in OBIEE and the values used in the prompts to execute the report in OBIEE needs to be passed through a link to BIP and Execute BIP report for selcted parameters.
The Report is working fine and I am able to pass the parameters from OBIEE to BIP but to make BIP Report function correctly. I have to apply same set of Parameters in BIP and they are visible in the header of the BIP Report.
Now the Requirement is to hide those parameters from BIP Report and BIP Report should run for the selected parameters from OBIEE dashboard.. On doing this the values passed from OBIEE are not getting filltered in BIP report and BIP Report is running for all records. Is there an alternate way to achieve this?

Enhancements to parameter display options include:
Support for radio button and check box display of values
Parameters that are defined as a menu in the data model can now be configured to display the menu options as a list of radio buttons or check boxes. Parameters configured to support one value support the option to display as radio buttons. Parameters configured to support multiple values support the option to display as check boxes.
New options for placement of parameters in the report viewer
Previously the report viewer always displayed the parameters in a horizontal region across the top of the viewer. In this release the display of the parameter region can also be configured in one of the following ways:
In a vertical region along the right side of the viewer
As a dialog
As a separate full page
New report viewer action button to show or hide parameters
This release adds an action button to the report viewer to enable users to hide or show the parameter region. This enhancement complements the new parameter display options. When report parameters are configured to display as a dialog or in a separate full page, the parameter display region is dismissed when the viewer displays the report. Use the Parameters button to redisplay the parameter region to make new selections.
Search added to menus
All parameter menus having more than a specified number of options provide a Search option. For more information, see Section 3.3.1.1, "The Parameter Search Dialog."
Option to remove the Apply button
Reports can now be configured to remove the parameter Apply button. In these reports the action of selecting a new parameter value automatically reruns the report.

How to get Client(browser) current date/time in BIP report

I need to display report generated date in BIP report and this should be client(browser) current date/time. I tried the following things.
1. have used MS Word Native Date/time using Insert->Date/Time. And we have chosen the M/d/yyyy h:mm:ss am/pm format. but it is printing BIp server date/time, not client date/time.
2. <?xdofx:sysdate?>, <?xdoxslt:sysdate_as_xsdformat()?> and <?format-date:xdoxslt:sysdate_as_xsdformat();'SHORT_TIME'?> are giving GMT Date/Time, but we need client Date/Time.
3.<?xdoxslt:sysdate('DD-MON-YYYY HH12:mi:ss')?> is giving the system date/time of the machine where BIP server is installed.
Could you provide some help in this??

for my opinion,
in the countries where time is switching (winter/summer) using the hard coded time zones in the format-date() cause a problem:
for example:
if we enter the date in date prompt in summer it will return PM_DT = 2010-07-20T00:00:00.000+04:00
in winter 2010-07-20T00:00:00.000+03:00, so,
using <?format-date:PM_DT;'DD.MM.YYYY';'GMT+3'?> return 2010-07-20 in winter and 2010-07-19 in summer.

Save output of BIP report that uses etext template

Hi,
I have made a BIP report using etext template and when I click on View, it displays the data fine. But I want to save this as a text file with all the formatting intact. If I try to Export, the formatting goes haywire in the resultant txt file.
Can anyone advise me how to save this as a txt file without disturbing the formatting?

Using OBI answers report as source in BIP report

All,
I am creating a BIP report using OBI answers request as source. I defined the data set, created RTF template from MS word and uploaded the same into BIP.
I am using dashboard prompts for this reports. I have 2 issues with this.
1. When I embed the BIP report in the dashboard along with BI answers report, the BIP report is not retrieving data when different metrics are selected in the prompts. for ex: grams and Kgs.
The logic to apply the factoring on data is already implemented in OBI. When i change the dashboard prompt, it is changing the data in BI answers report and not in BIP report. I am wondering why this might be happening. If you have any thought please share.
2. The BI report has some saved filters applied which uses some presentation variables in the filters. But those seem to be not effecting in BIP report. Please suggest any reasons and fix for these.
If any one have idea, please suggest.

The BI answers request contains saved filters, in which some filters have presentation variable and a default value set for the same. we are using this as source for the BIP report data set.
In this case the answers request is working correctly based on the prompt value selected where as the BIPub report is not working. The BIP report is working for only the default value. If we change the prompt for that parameter, it is showing no rows.
How BIP takes care of such answers request based reports?

E-mailing and/or faxing BIP report

i call BIP report from oracle forms(10g). it works great.
how to send report (PDF) to e-mail or to fax server (GFI maybe)?

You need to use the document delivery api's. It's going to be tricky doing that through oracle forms. You can also use oracle's pl/sql email utility.
