Hi,
I'm using BIEE11.1.1.6.
then I faced a problem about BIP security.
I using init session block to control user login to BIEE.
there users stored in db can login BIEE,but can't login BIP.
one user has BIAdministrator role also can't login BIP.
then I do a test ,use 'weblogic' that was created in weblogic console,
it can login the BIP.
I found that user in db can't login BIP,users in weblogic console can login BIP.
anyone know why??

BIP Security - Data Level Security / Init Blocks

Hello, I am using BIP 11.1.1.5. I am aware that in OBIEE data-level security can be implemented by placing permissions on a application role. However, I am wondering if this can be accomplished in BIP if I use a BI Analysis or SQL as the datasource for my data model. I have a catalog of 100 BIP reports and was wondering if I can implemented data-level security via the RPD. I am exploring the various options of executing this type of security. I already performed some research and found Oracle's whitepaper on Row Level Security with BI Publisher.
Another Question: Does session init blocks work with BIP? I flipped the switch for BIP security model to 'Oracle BI Server' on the Admin security page. Next, I went to the RPD in online mode and created a simple query inside a init block. However, when I logged into BIP I didn't see the variable from the session init block in the Manage Sessions window.

Can security groups be used as subgroups under XMLP_ADMIN, XMLP_DEVELOPER, XMLP_SCHEDULER, XMLP_ANALYZER_EXCEL, XMLP_ANALYZER_ONLINE and XMLP_TEMPLATE_DESIGNER and OBIEE Administrators? Or do the tools expect that only users can be added here?
Enterprise BIP (10.1.3.3.3) has been configured with BI Server Security. In the BI Repository, 3 groups were created: Repository Administrators, Repository Developers and Report Developers.
Repository Administrators group was added to XMLP_ADMIN and Administrators. The users in the group do not see the Admin Tab.
The Report Developers group was added as a subgroup to XMLP_DEVELOPER, XMLP_SCHEDULER, XMLP_ANALYZER_EXCEL, XMLP_ANALYZER_ONLINE, XMLP_TEMPLATE_DESIGNER. BIP Developers were then added to the Report Developers group in the BI Repository. In BIP, Report Developers was given permissions to the top level report folders under Shared Folders.
When a BIP developer logs in, they are able to see View the reports and look at History but not Edit or Configure.
I have tried other combinations of this set up with various results but none of them the desired result.
Has anyone tried this?

BIP Security - Datamodel level

We have integrated BIP into our web applicationHSGBU _ OLX) and it works perfectly fine … we have set security to “BI Publisher Security”.
Now When I create Datamodel and create datasets … IN Query Builder I have whole of the DB open to me to search from and get data.. I want to restrict to only few particular views …Can you help me if I can restrict this access to the DB to only few views and tables ..

Can you give more details on the special BIP user(on database) and how you linked to the data source in BI Publisher.
How did u grant select to the appropriate bi tables to that user. In Query Builder, the developers can only see the tables that this BIP user has access to.

Obiee and BIP security - obiee 11g 11.1.1.7.1

I have configured an external LDAP setting for authentication. Reordered the new LDAP as first authentication provider. The issue i am facing is , that i am able to login with external ldap users and weblogic as expected in obiee. But when i login as weblogic user, and try to click on Manage BI Publisher link (to add jndi connections), it throws error Unthorized user! ...
Any clue, if i need to do separate setting for BI Publisher?

Can you please check the security file xmlp-server-config.xml under this path MW_HOME/user_projects/domains/bifoundation_domain/config/bipublisher/repository/Admin/Configuration and see whats the securitymodel in here
also try to delete the weblogic user from catalog users folder and then try to login and see if you can access it now

BIP security model DBSect Adpt and Siebel eChannel LDAPSectAdpt

Hi,
Previously in production we implement siebel eChannel that uses DBSectAdpt to single sign on against BIP report which uses DBSectAdpt.This method was successfully implement. In our current project siebel eChannel is force to use LDAPSectAdpt under certain circumstances.
1.To implement the single sign on is it possible for BIP report to use DBSectAdpt or force to use the LDAPSectAdpt?
2. How about the XMLP Report Server(DBSectAdpt ) and EAI Object Manager(DBSectAdpt ). Do they require to change to LDAPSectAdpt too?

Session time out in BIP

All,
I have set the BIP security as Oracle BI SERVER and able to successfully log in from dashboards, answers to BIP. but after some time BIP is getting timed out.
where can I set the session time out parameter? and
how to make the BIP session valid as long as OBI presentation services session is valid?

BIP 10.1.3.4 with WLS Embedded LDAP

Hi All,
Details of my setup.
1. BIP installed in weblogic
2. BIP Security model setup to point to LDAP (wls embedded). The following details I specified:
a. cn=Admin/passwd
b. Distinguished Name for Users:
ou=people,ou=myrealm,dc=base_domainname
c. Distinguished Name for Groups
ou=groups,ou=myrealm,dc=base_domainname
d. Rest all left blank.
3. I created the XMLP_* (all 5 groups to in the wls myrealm).
4. I created the users and assigned them the above 5 groups as well as all other groups that were present.
5. I did create the Super User also.
I am able to login using the LDAP users but I am not able to see the Reports (as well as Admin tab etc), whenever I click on the Shared folders I get an "Unauthorized Access: Contact Admin" error.
I suspect BIP is not able to resolve the groups for the users.
Could anyone tell me where I am wrong and what needs to be done. I think I have not provided the group details like search filter, group attribute name etc.
I am a bit new to weblogic and not sure what are the details that I should provide for the embedded ldap in BIP.
Any help is much appreciated.

P6 R8.3 Problems with BI Publisher, Team Member

Hi
I am setting up a demo server with P6 R8.3 EPPM. The process I have followed so far is:
Install Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 on the box (2 x Quad Core Xeon, 16GB RAM, 2 x 300GB drives)
Install SQL Server 2005 and copy across our current demo R8.2 EPPM database
Install JDK 1.6.0_41 64 bit
Upgrade the database to R8.3
Create a new Middleware Repository for BIP
Do a "simple install" of 64bit BIP from the "generic" distro to create an instance of WebLogic 10.3 and BIP 11.0.0.6.0 within it
Install P6 R8.3 and configure it to deploy into the existing WebLogic instance
Copy the P6 Reports into BIP and set up BIP as per the docs
I had to use the db configuration tool to create (?overwrite) the old P6 Configuration data in the database as when using the web P6 Administrator it was telling me that no database was configured for administration, and I have then gone in to adjust the URL for the database and the link to BI Publisher.
The supported configurations document also says that a patch needs to be applied to WebLogic 11g and I have tried applying it but it seems to be ignoring it - an earlier build attempt using a 32 bit version of WebLogic installed separately from BIP did take the patch, so maybe there is a later version of WebLogic bundled with BIP?... In any case, I am not seeing the error the patch was released to fix.
As of now, I have a working P6 environment with all data carried over from the 8.2 environment. There are 2 odd things happening though, and I can't see any reason for them:
First, any user trying to access Team Member Web Services gets an error message at login saying they are configured to use Progress Reporter to update progress. This happens regardless of the Module Access settings for that user, it just doesn't seem to work any more. Is there more I have to do here?
Second, I can't get the reports tab in EPPM to work, and always get the error message saying that the user is not configured in BI Publisher. Just to be clear what I have done:
I followed the procedure in the docs for setting up P6 reports in BIP and have checked it numerous times.
BIP is using the BIP Security model with a local superuser
The JDBC connection to the P6 database works, and I can login as any of the users in BIP that I set up to match the P6 users, and execute reports within BIP and see results returned
Those P6 users have got Enterprise Reporting module access
I have bounced both P6 and BIP several times within WebLogic, and WebLogic is showing all the various subsystems are running OK (as is Enterprise Manager)
I have compared the setup of this version of BI and P6 to those in our working R8.2 system, and the only 2 differences I can see are
BI is 11.0.0.5.0 for R8.2 and 11.0.0.6.0 for R8.3
When I assigned the data model to the reports in R8.3, the icon for the report disappeared and now just displays as a black box with an x in - but it only did this for some reports (eg the Activity ones)
One thing I am not clear on is the format of the URL for the BI web services - some docs say it should end in ?WSDL, others don't (for the combination of BIP 11g and SQl Server). I have tried both forms without seeing any change in behaviour (Typing either form into a browser results in a response so the web services system is definitely alive).. I have also tried changing the path to the reports from "/P6Reports" (which it actually is) to "/P6REPORTS" (which works in our R8.2 system, even though that's not what the folder is named - its also /P6Reports), but again that doesn't make any difference. Finally, I have tried logging into BIP directly using the credentials saved in the configuration and they work fine.
I am completely stumped - can anyone offer any further things to try out?

I have finally had an answer from Oracle about the BI Publisher issue, which is due to the fact that I installed the WebLogic bundled inside the Oracle Business Intelligence media set which is 10.3.5, while P6 R8.3 requires 10.3.6
So for the products to share an instance of WebLogic that both can use, you have to install WebLogic first from its own media set and without creating any domains. Then you patch it as specified in the Supported Configurations document, then install BI Publisher using the "Software Only" option, deploy that into a new domain, and finally install/deploy P6 into its own domain.
I now can see the reports in P6, but running them within P6 is producing an error. The Team Member issue is still partly there - assigning Team Member access to a user who didn't previously have it seems to work, but those who had it in 8.2 still can't login as the system still thinks they are set up for Progress Reporter. We have also encountered a problem where the whole top half of the user interface - the main tabs and the menu in the top RH corner - all is grayed out and becomes inactive at various points. I have found this listed as a bug related to Java 7 in the client browser which is fixed in R8.3 SP1 so I am now going to try to install that across all the various components of the product and see what happens...

OBI-users cannot acces BI-Publisher-Dashboard

I have configured a few users in my system and also have putted them into the defaul BIP groups.
@ BIP Security is configured to use BI-Server (is there a document to understand the settings of this configuration?)
When accessing the system with the administrator user, I can view problem-less access BIP-component in my Dashboard, but when accessing with any other user the BIP-Dashboard componente causes an error.
How do i have to configure BIP-security?

BIP report security from Dashboard to Publisher is not working

Hi ,
I created a BIP report(.xdo) and placed it on Dashboard as a link . As admin , I can see the report . As a user , I am able to get into publisher but not able to see the report . Iam getting the below error message .
Error : Unauthorized Access: please contact the administrator.
I suspect that security model from Dashboard through BIP is not working . I tried searching the online resources but couldnt find right help .
Iam a newbie for BIP , I followed the regular BIP guides , configured eveything as per the docs and things work as admin . But I want to test the security as user .
Where Iam doing wrong , Any ideas please help .

I have grant permissions to the user and the report in BI webcatalog and also in BIP under admin tab I have addes the role which the user belongs to and also the shared folder . Still the problem exists.
My BI presentation servcies security is working . My user security is also working , all that I need is the user should be able to see the report when he clicks on BIP link placed in dashboard.

BIP: Upload error (Invalid BI Publisher Security model SBL-RPT-50532)

Hi, We have Siebel 8.1.1.5 running and having trouble integrating with BI Publisher 10.1.3.4.2 . I have setup and configure BIP as per the instructions.
When we try to upload reports from Reports - Standard Templates View, getting the following error messages:
Invalid BI Publisher Security Model Setting (SBL-RPT-50532) && Error (null) invoking method (null) for business service (null).
I have setup the security model to siebel in BIP and able to login tot he console using SADMIN/SADMIN. All the required components are also online and updated the params as per the instructions.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Please check whether your EAI Object manager is using different srf to one that application set to. In that case try to
set the EAI to same srf Or compile report stuff to that particular srf. And befiore that have you declared the Siebel securiy model setting in BIP.

BIP Desktop - windows security update issue

Hi Wizards,
My PC has automatically installed Windows 7 security updates yesterday. As a result, the BI Publisher Add-In has disappeared from the ribbon in Word (it is fine in Excel though). A similar situation happened in August, where BIP did not work correctly due to another update.
I have already removed and re-installed BIP Desktop (11.1.1.5.0) with no success at the end.
I urgently need the fix, could someone point me to the right place in this forum or somewhere else, please?

BIP 11g with eBusiness Suite Security

Help! I'm at my wits end!
I installed BIP 11g on Linux and went through the security set up for eBusiness Suite - created the XMLP% responsibilities, assigned the responsibilities to users, shutdown the BIP server, restarted it with the expectation that I can login to BIP using my eBS userid/password credentials. I couldn't login with anything other than the local superuser userid/password. The eBS responsibilities were imported as BIP roles, but none of the users are recognized as valid users.
I set up an SR with Oracle Support and they are just as flummoxed as I am.
The log files are of no help or I don't know where to look.
I then installed BIP 11g on my Windows 7 laptop, to rule out the possibility that this could be an issue with BIP 11g on Linux. I went through the exact same steps on Windows7 and got the same result. I am not sure that this experiment rules out anything at this point.
I am at a loss and extremely frustrated since I don't know where to begin looking. The DBC file is used, otherwise the eBS responsibilities would not have been imported. What else could be missing?
If anyone could point me to anything that might be of help, I would greatly appreciate it. At this point, I am inclined to chuck BIP altogether and go to some other reporting solution.

eBS passwords have to be reset after setting "Signon Password Case" profile to Insensitive. Works now.

BPC_MS ver 10 security integration with BusinessObjects BIP

We have a client that has both BPC for MS ver 10 and BIP 4.1. They want to use the BIP tools such as Web Intelligence to report against the BPC data. They also only want the user running the report to see the data they are allowed to see based on the data access profiles in BPC. How can this be done without maintaining security in both BPC and BIP separately?

BPC for MS is not integrated in Netweaver platform that's why you didn't find any documentation about real estate.
There aren't relations just with BI you can use Xcelsius dashboard or ODBC to read the cubes but I don't think you will found the files to connect with RE (for BI connections see please 1731626 - Data source connectivity options between BusinessObjects BI tools and BPC).
If you need to insert data in BPC from RE you need to export this data in a flat file and after to Import in BPC through the standard import package using transformation and conversion files, to transfer data from BPC to RE use the standard export package.
