Birthday from Adress Book not shown in iCal

Hi, I have checked option "Show Birthday Calendar" in iCal, but birthdays from Adress Book not shown. I found where is problem: Contact's birthdays from local adress book (On My Mac) are shown properly in iCal, but contact's birthdays from my adress book on Exchange 2007 (RU9) are not shown... I think this is a bug to be fixed...

Wish I'd looked here first! Have just spent a couple of hours trying to get birthdays to appear in iCal after completing an upgrade from Exchange 2003 to 2007. Same problem as reported above - they don't appear. I've tried Dates 2 iCal (shareware with good reviews) but it doesn't seem to help.
Copying the Exchange address book to 'on my Mac' doesn't seem to do anything either.
The only workaround I can think of is manually adding recurring events into the Exchange calendar for the relevant birthdays. That's a pain, and kind of flies in the face of the whole "integrates natively with Exchange, something even Microsoft doesn't do" tag. A more accurate tag would seem to be "doesn't work quite as well as iCal under Leopard" (he said, slightly grumpily).
Anyone have any other ideas?

Adding address from Adress Book to event in iCal?

First of all i'm sorry if i'm not using the proper terms since I use iCal in French.
OK, when adding event in iCal I would like to specify the address by simply selecting a person or compagy in my Address Book but it doesn't seems to be possible?
It would be nice to have it implemented just like the guess! It would then sync to my iPhone and it would be really easy for me to check the road map after in Google maps' iPhone.
If not possible, where can I request that feature?

You could Invite the person who's address it is. That should add the information, I think.

I sugggest you try my application, Dates to iCal. It is shareware with a 2 week trial period.
Dates to iCal 2 is a replacement for Apple's birthday calendar for iCal. It has a range of features to allow the user to choose what, and what not, to sync to iCal from Address Book.
As well as automatically syncing birthday dates from Address Book, Dates to iCal 2 can sync anniversary and custom dates. It can set up to five alarms for each date in iCal and can also set different alarms for birthdays and anniversaries. It allows the option of only syncing from one Address Book group. This application also allows for the titles of the events sent to iCal to be modified to the user's preference.

Problems with sending SMS from adress book

Hi all,
I have a new Kotorola MOTOKRZR K1 here.
The Bluetooth connection with iMac is ok. I can send data to phone and I can receive data from phone, but I can't send SMS from adress book v4.0.5 (487) to the phone.
The bluetooth button in adress book is disabled. I can click on this button, but address book open in this case always a dialog: "Pair with bluetooth device".
When I click on the "pair" button, then I can enter my access code vor the phone.
It is the access code from Bluetooth Assistant program for the phone.
my question is, Is here a user, who can send a SMS with MOTOKRZR K1 from adress book?
With my old Siemens S55 is this no problem.

Calendar "show birthdays from Address Book"

There doesn't seem to be a way to select a particular Group from Address Book to add to a Calendar. Is there a way to do that?

No. What I've done is create an iCal birthday calendar and added the birthdays I wanted there and then use that for the iPhoto calendar. Some work at first but once done it's easy to maintain and use.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

Adding selected Birthdays from Address book to an iPhoto Calendar

I'm creating a Calendar in iPhoto, I have a large number of birthdays in my Address Book but I don't need all of them added to my Calendar Project (ie: Business contacts,etc). Is there a way to only add selected people, or a group to my project or do I have to import the birthdays and go in manually afterwards and erase the people I don't want?

I did find a solution! I found that it was working from my laptop, but just not from my desktop. So, on my desktop computer, in Address Book, I deleted the field "Birthday" from my template, then I re-added it and from then on, it worked. There must have been something corrupt in the that field in my template. To get to it in Address Book:
Hightlight a card, then click Card > Add Field > Edit Template
Scroll down to the Birthday field and click the minus sign next to it.
Then add the field back in:
Highlight a card, then click Card > Add Field > Birthday
That worked for me. There are two parts that I don't know about:
1) I don't THINK it will delete the Birthday field in cards that already have a birthday entered. I think it just deletes that field in the template and therefore in newly entered contacts that field would be missing, but I would make sure you have that data backed up in some way first.
2) I don't know if the birthdays that are already entered will suddenly appear in your calendar or if you'll have to go back and delete and then re-enter that info.

Adress book not saving new card

Since Lion my adress book cannot save a new card any more.
This is what i do, i add or make a new card manually or from importing a .vcf file
it appears fine in the adress book.
It does not update to MobileMe nor to the iPhone when syncing and when i close the adress book app and reopen the card is no longer there.
i tried to delete the user/Library/preferences/com.apple.AdressBook.plist and
user/Library/preferences/com.apple.AdressBook.abd.plist
but no change
Any thoughts on what to try next?

Yes, i can add a contact on MobileMe and it syncs to my adress book EVEN if i close and reopen...
(THEN i can edit the card in Adress Book and it stays in Adress Book!)

Birthday from adress in iPod adress

Hello,
I have iPod nano 5th generation. On my MAC I have birthday in adress as additional field. After synchronization with iPod nano I can see the address in iPod nano but not the field birthday.
Any hint how I can see that? In iTunes I have activated (synch all).
Is this a bug in iPod software or what can I do to see this field in iPod adresses.

First, there is already a place to put a birthday into the address book. If you go to preferences, then to template, you will see that you can add a 'birthday' field.
Next, you can have those birthdays automatically show up in your calendar.
Finally, if you set your calendar to sync with your ipod, those birthdays will show up in the calendar on your ipod under 'Extras'.
Would that give you what you are looking for?

Hi,
In my WF container there is value &ABSENCE.ABSENCETYPE.DESCRIPTION&.
in SWIA in logs I can see value in container, it is also in email message text in SWIA.
but it is not shown in email that user gets as confirmation from WF.
Which is really interesting in first email from this WF the value is present,
but in next 2 emails this text in email does not show.
I tested transferring to different variable in email container.
but see no effect.
can you suggest sth?

HI,
Pl. check your binding if you are having a cont. element in the task for the SendMail step also.
If that's correct, then do the buffer, sometimes, this can give problem.
Also, logout and login and see if that corrects it.

Adress Book not tranlate in French ?...

I've juste upgrade my MBP in 10.6 (in French) and the Adress Book talk US ?...

For me the menus and menus' items are in French (Carnet d'Adresses, Fichier, Edition, Présentation, ...) but not the labels in the window : "group", "name" although I can read "fiches" at the bottom of the window. Thus I think it's only partially translated. Quite messy and unprofessional, isn't it dear Steve ?

How to get full image from adress book contact

I'm trying to get the full image out of an address book contact. All my basic code is working. The problem that I am having is that for all contacts with images the returned image size is 320x320.
Playing around I have edited contacts, through Contacts.app, by setting a full 320x480 image. I set such an image on my own contact and called my iPhone from a different number. Sure enough when the phone rings the phone displays the full screen original image as I picked it.
So the contact seem to have the full 320x480 image associated with it. But, when I use the ABAddressBook functions to get this same image from the contact, the returned image data says the image is 320x320. And if I display this image data into a view it appears as a square with the top and bottom 80 pixels chopped off.
Has anyone else run into this? Any ideas?

I am also working on the same feature. I was also able to retrieve everything fromt eh addressboook. But I have not worked for image as I am not able to design the same GUI for Add New Record, or Info page as present in iPhone. I am facing a problem of adding UIImageView in the design of grouped table cell. and Give the big gap between the UIImage and Table cell where First,Lat Name and Occupation is being present.
Plz help in design view.

Custom image from Address book not syncing to Exchange.

I am running Mac OS X v 10.7.5. I have added custom images to contacts in address book. I have an Exchange account which will sync the data (ie name, address, email) but not the custom image. Is there away to have custom images sync to Exchange/Outlook?

I'm Running Mac OS X Lion, and have seen that changes made in the mac address book do not sync to gmail contacts but changes to gmail contacts do sync to the mac address book.
Making a change to a contact on my phone does sync to gmail contacts, and then to the mac address book.
Another test I ran was to change the same contact in gmail and mac address book. I made a change to a mobile number and notes in one contact on my mac address book, attempted to sync, and the change does not appear in my gmail contacts. I tried multiple times, restarted my web browser, restarted mac address book, the sync would not work. I changed the same contact mobile number in gmail with a slightly different change to the notes field so I could see when an update occurred, and when I told mac address book to sync it recognized a conflict. When I select the mac address book change to resolve the conflict, the gmail contact is not updated. When I repeated the experiment and selected the gmail contact to resolve the conflict the change is made in the mac address book.

Outlook and BB - items deleted from outlook calendar not shown as deleted in blackberry?? WHY?

Once meetings are deleted in Outlook they are for some reason still shown as active in my blackberry. Does anyone know why this is happening and how I can resolve it?
Do i need to resynch them?

From what I remember, for them to be removed from the blackberry, they have to be in the deleted items folder while the phone reconciles, but I might be mistaken.
If you try creating a test calendar item, let the BB pick it up, delete it from outlook leaving the item in the deleted items folder and wait for the phone to reconcile again (or force reconcile now).

Group address from Address Book not sending in Mail 2

I just upgraded from Panther to Tiger, and also upgraded to Mail 2 in the process.
I discovered some of my old group addresses held in Address Book would no longer link into my emails. When I selected the group name and clicked the To button in the Address Book panel, the group name would appear in the email To line. But when I saved the email and later reopened to send it, the group name would no longer be there.
After much head scratching I worked out the problem was with full stops being included in some of the group names.
Remove the full stops and problem goes away.

or, in a new email, click 'addresses' icon at the top of the e-mail (i customized my email top bar to add this in. you can do this by right clicking on the tool bar. As you can see I have added several things)
Or that addresses man icon is at the top of the messages....and open that, then choose the group, then click in the name/list area of all the names and select all the names by doing command-A, then choose to click the button at the top left of the Addresses window: to, bcc etc
As you notice, only the topmost e-mail address, if you have several for a person, will be chosen....to that is different too....could be good, could be bad. I guess one has to rearrange all the addresses to that the top most one is the one you really want to send to

The only use I see for Address Book, now called Contacts, it ot put the addresses, and to mail one at a time a contact. cant just drag in addresses like before, that i see.
