Birthday Years on iPhone contacts read "1604"???

A new feature on OSX Lion allows you to display contacts birthdays without listing a year. I removed the year from the birthday of all of my contacts on MB Pro, and then when synced with iPhone 4, every contact's birthyear reads "1604". What is happening???

when  you edit the contact there's an option for 'other fields'. tap on that and you can enter their birthdays which will then appear in your calendar

  • HT1296 how to transfer my iphone contacts to outlook

how to transfer my iphone contacts to outlook?

Here is the way about how to transfer contacts from iPhone to Outlook:
Step 1: Connect the iPhone to the computer using the supplied USB cable and launch the iTunes application. iTunes displays your iPhone on the left panel under "Devices".
Step 2: Click your iPhone on the iTunes panel and click the "Info" tab. Click "Sync contacts with" and select "Outlook."
Step 3: Select "All Contacts" if you want to sync all the contacts from your iPhone to Outlook. If you want to select specific contacts, click "Selected groups" and place a check on the contacts you want to sync to Outlook.
Step 4: Click "Apply" to sync your iPhone contacts to Outlook. Click the "Eject" button on the right panel and disconnect your phone from the computer. Close iTunes.
Step 5: Launch Outlook and click the "Contacts" tab. You should see the imported iPhone contacts.

I have iphone 5 and the latest iO7.1. Since upgrading to IOS7.1 birthdays added to a contact are not shown in calendar anymore. It use to show automatically before. Can anyone help?

Click on calendars at the bottom of the screen. Make sure that birthdays are checked.
We may think we have 1 calendar, but iPhone puts things in different calendars. Sometimes we can somehow lose one. Well not really lost, but somehow it just gets de-selected. So just make sure that all that you want to see are checked.
One cool thing I like about this is that they have added US Holidays which didn't used to be there like on most paper calendars. Nice to have them available now!

  • My 5 year old iPod classic will not play on my Yamaha CRX-332 cd receiver but my 3 year old iPhone 3g will.  Any suggestions to get my iPod to read the receiver or get the receiver to read the iPod?

My 5 year old iPod classic will not play on my Yamaha CRX-332 cd receiver but my 3 year old iPhone 3g will.  Any suggestions to get my iPod to read the receiver or get the receiver to read the iPod?  The receiver should be able to play the iPod with a USB connection or with the iPod dock.  Neither works with my iPod however both work with my iPhone 3g.  The iPod has the latest software.  Any thoughts?

If it is a 5-year old iPod, there is the possibility that the receiver simply won't work with the older software (there hasn't been an iPod Classic software update in years). You might try contacting Yamaha support (or doing a google search) to see if it is a known issue. One solution (probably the easiest) is to get a cable that connects a min jack (i.e., a headphone jack) to stereo cables, and just connect the iPod up that way. You eliminate the risk of corrupting the iPod, and it is a solution that should always work. Just use a wall charger to power the iPod.

  • Synching iphone/contacts & macbook/address book no longer works

I've had an iphone 3G and macbook pro for about 2 years and until now they've synched just fine. Today I cleaned up my address book on the mac (eliminated some duplicates, added, renamed, and deleted groups, updated individuals' information) and then synched my iphone with my mac using itunes. (I don't have a mobileme account.)
A few of the changes I made to address book (e.g., new contacts) were updated in contacts on the iphone, but most were not. It didn't update changes to existing contacts and the groups were not changed. Updates to ical and safari bookmarks were synched just fine.
Here are the things I've tried without success:
    1. In itunes info tab, under address book I selected "all contacts," deselected all other updates (ical, etc.) except address book, and then synched.
    2. Same as above, PLUS in the advanced section, under "replace information on this phone" I selected contacts. then I synched.
    3. Same as #1 above, except instead of "all contacts" I selected "selected groups" and checked all the groups listed, and then synched.
    4. I rebooted the macbook and repeated the steps above.
    5. I opened isync and selected "reset sync history." then I repeated steps 1 and 2 above.
I also tested making a change to a contact on the iphone to see if the change was made on the mac. It was not.
About 2 months ago I upgraded to snow leopard. It's possible this problem has been going on since then, and I just didn't notice until today when I made all the changes to address book.
I don't know what to try next. Please help.

status update -- I tried a lot of other things but finally solved the problem after I removed all the groups from mac address book. (thank-you to my son Ben)
FYI -- along the way I tried doing the reset sync history, which deleted all contacts from the iphone. I initially thought that was a good thing, until I discovered that nothing I tried after that would put the contacts back on the iphone. Next I restored factory settings on the iphone and set up as a new user, but that didn't work either. Or maybe it did; maybe deleting the groups wouldn't have solved the problem if I hadn't deleted all contacts and reset the iphone first.

  • Iphone contacts won't sync to mac

    Hi
Very new to mac but have searched for this; too many answers with too much variance so I have to ask myself, sorry.
I've had an iphone 4 for 2 years, always syncing contacts with outlook on my old PC. Everything worked fine until icloud; I then found that any new contacts weren't syncing to outlook, I'm assuming because the phone was only syncing to icloud?
No matter, decided not to worry as I wanted to buy a mac, having worked with them recently.
So my issue now is (very similar to before) that I can't sync my contacts from my iphone to my mac, again because it insists the phone is backing up to icloud. I tried this morning; it prompted me that the phone was 'on' icloud and therefore not syncing with mac etc; I checked the box to sync contacts, hit apply and merge in the hopes I could get my contacts from my phone onto the mac. Instead it's created another phone book on my iphone with just the three contacts that were on the mac?!
Now when I go to contacts on my iphone it has three groups: All contacts, all on my iphone and all icloud. The first and last have all my contacts in; the all on my iphone has zero. I know the transition to something new isn't always easy, but I'm now really confused.
The Mac is on Snow Leopard, and my understanding of browsing the forums is that only lion will work with icloud. I haven't bought any software yet, so I'm not concerned about compatibilty if I upgrade. I AM however concerned as to how icloud will work if I do upgrade?
Will it use the iMac or the iphone as the 'senior' device?
If it uses the mac will I lose all my contacts?
With cloud do I not need to backup my iphone?
What's the difference between backup, sync and icloud?
So many questions I know; really hope I'm not shot down in flames as my first time on here. Any advice about this appreciated.

iCloud is a second attempt at dealing with making data available among devices - MobileMe was the first and was limited to just a few things, contacts and calendar events. iCloud goes much further. It isn't easy to meld two or more databases. The first think to keep in mind is that iCloud holds the truth - that is the data that is pushed out everywhere else. If you log on to icloud.com you can see the addressbook and calendar that will be sent to all your devices. The devices' job is to send new data or edited data to the cloud.
With that in mind, I simply upgraded my computer from Snow Leopard to Lion - after turning my phone off. My thinking was that if disaster struck I could delete the computer calendar & addressbook database. Then I could log onto iCloud and make sure my calendar and addressbook was okay and then let the cloud fix the computer. And it true disaster struck I could delete everything in the cloud and turn the iPhone back on which would repopulate the cloud and then my computer.
What actually happened is that after I upgraded to Lion I wound up with an addressbook that had 'on my Mac' and 'on the cloud' which had the same stuff. I deleted the 'on my mac' stuff. My calendar, if I recall right, just had what I expected. I tested by making an event and fact contact on the phone - they appeared on my computer. Did the same on my computer - they appeared on my phone.
Why all the hub-bub over Lion? A couple things. First, there's always an outcry of Mac OS XYZ broke my computer! Not every upgrade goes smoothly. Do a search here for Kappy's upgrade advice, follow it, and your chances of a successful upgrade are pretty good. Second, we've had quite a few OS upgrades in the last 5 years that brought small changes and new services. Lion was different, it really shook things up and lots of people don't like it when their cheese is moved. Third, Lion isn't compatible with old software written before Apple switched to Intel processors and lots of people just don't read before they upgrade.
Should you upgrade? Since SL lost the ability to sync with iOS devices iCloud alone is worth the price of admission. The changes between OS versions always mean that developers stop supporting the older OS at some point and I suspect that Lion changes things enough that SL users are going to find less software being made for the OS pretty rapidly.

  • Birthday calendar on iPhone

Is there a way to synchronize the Birthday Calendar with the iPhone? My other calendars all synchronize, but as that one is part of the contacts it does not. Contacts are synchronized with birthday information, but it does not put it into the calendar on the iPhone.

If you have a MobileMe account and you have Calendars on for over the air syncing, you can't sync direct with iCal via the iTunes sync process. You can do one or the other only, not both at the same time.
At the present time, syncing subscribed calendars over the air is not supported, and the iCal Birthdays calendar is a subscriber calendar. Syncing subscribed calendars will be supported beginning with firmware update 3.0 to be released this summer.
What I have done in the interim - I exported the subscribed Birthdays calendar from iCal followed by importing the exported calendar as a standard calendar. You can't have two iCal calendars with the same name, so I named the new calendar for the import - B-Days. This calendar is synced with the MM cloud which in turn becomes available on my iPhone. This calendar isn't updated when adding a birthday for an existing contact or for a new contact, but this is temporary until subscribed calendars are supported for over the air syncing with firmware update 3.0.

  • My iPhone contacts disappeared. Is it possible to make backup?

Today I cannot acces to the setiings in my iphone, so i switched it off and when i switched on, all my iphone contacts were gone. Is it possible to make some backup of the contacts?
Thank you in advance for your help

Thsi seems to be happening a lot. Mine just disappeared out of no where last night. I wasn't on the phone or anything. My sister texted me and I picked up my phone to see who it was and it just showed her number. I checked my contacts turned the phone off and back on and my contacts still weren't back.
Anyone get an answer from APPLE on this issue. I have never had problems with my Iphones before but have had many problems with the 4s from the battery running down now to this. I refused to upgrade when my 4s is just a little over a year old.

  • Assigning dates for Iphone Contacts

When trying to set a birthday date for one of my contacts I have encounterd a wierd bug...
My contacts birtday is may 15th 1949, but when setting the appropreate month and year the Iphone locks all the days and allows choosing only may 1st 1949!!
I checked the month against different years (1950,1948 etc..) and also checked the year against different months (June, July etc..) but only this specific combination of may 1949 dissables all the days in the months and locks the date on may 1st
I hope someone can tell me why this is or if it can be fixed in some way.. (My friend is a bit dissappointed......)

  • Birthday reminders on iPhone & Outlook - how does it work??

Can someone explain to me how birthday reminders work on the iPhone?
    I am using a PC w ith Outlook 2010.
Outlook has the birthdays in the birthday field.
For those birthdays, it seems to sync them into my calendar on the iPhone as more than 1 event, with the reminder coming at the end of the day (23:45). This means the reminder is actaully for the next day.
When I look at this in Outlook, it shows the birthday as the NEXT day - very odd. (eg if birhtday is 6 dec, I see this on the iphone on 6th BUT in Outlook I see it on the 7 Dec & then on iPhone on 7 Dec again)
How do I fix this - delete all birthdays in Outlook & enter them via the iPhone contact so that it re-syncs back to Oulook?
Anyone know if this will work. Its very frustrating.
    thanks

Are you talking about the Emergency Call button that displays before you unlock the phone? If yes...
From the iPhone Manual (you should read this)
    Emergency calls
Make an emergency call when iPhone is locked. On the Enter Passcode screen, tap Emergency Call (to dial 911 in the U.S., for example).
Important: You can use iPhone to make an emergency call in many locations, provided that cellular service is available, but you should not rely on it for emergencies. Some cellular networks may not accept an emergency call from iPhone if iPhone is not activated, if iPhone is not compatible with or configured to operate on a particular cellular network, or (when applicable) if iPhone does not have a SIM card or if the SIM card is PIN-locked.

  • Cannot retrieve IPhone contacts on car Bluetooth device

With iPhone connected to car Bluetooth I am unable to access phone contacts but can use phone

It depends on the make, model, year, and options on the car. I have used 2 iPhones (iPhone 4 & 5s) with 3 different cars. Two of the cars were able to access the iPhone contacts and one does not. Some research led me to the car manufacturer's website where they showed which phones and which features on those phones were supported. In the one case it clearly stated that they supported calling but not access to the contacts. You may want to either do some internet searching or reply with the car's make, model and year here.
