Birthdays. better on calendar or contact list?

currently have all bdays on recurring calendar entries. i am considering adding them instead, to the contact list for each person. can someone tell me what difference there would be between the two? does it affect syncing w outlook 2007? does it tell you the age of the person on either way? that is what i would like to happen the most. would be nice not to have to do the math, lol

Looking at my birthday's added in the contact...it adds the birthday to the calendar as a "whole day event" and sets reminder to 15min before by default. It hasn't synchronized it with Outlook, but doesn't affect other entries or the sychronization process. It doesn't give the age either way unfortunately

Deletion of second calendar and contact list

Hello everybody!
I bought iPhone 3G for my girlfriend few monthes ago. Recently I subscribed her to MobileMe. Everything works perfect except of one little thing. After starting using MobileMe my girlfriend has on her iPhone 2 calendars, 2 contact lists (screenshot - http://pic.ipicture.ru/uploads/090905/56890/VBjTSLURCx.png). How can I delete the iPhone calendars and contacts? We want to have only me.com calendars and contacts!

This means she has selected to sync direct with the Address Book and iCal on the Mac that she is syncing her iPhone with.
Under the Info tab for her iPhone sync preferences with iTunes, deselect sync Address Book contacts and iCal calendars. Select Apply, followed by a sync. This will not remove the contacts and calendar events from her iPhone that were synced direct with the Address Book and iCal via the iTunes sync process.
On her iPhone, go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
Select the MobileMe account.
Turn Contacts and Calendars off for over the air syncing with her MobileMe account. This will erase all contacts and calendar events that were downloaded to the iPhone from the MobileMe online address book and calendar only. Wait a minute or two for these contacts and calendar events to be deleted. This will not erase the contacts and calendar events synced direct with the Address Book and iCal via the iTunes Sync process.
Follow this by turning Contacts and Calendars back on for over the air syncing. A merge prompt will be provide, which can be selected since all contacts and calendar events synced direct with the Address Book and iCal via the iTunes sync process should match.
This will resolve it.

Duplicate birthdays in iPad calendar from contacts

I have noticed that all the birthdays that are syncing from my contacts into my calendar are rapidly duplicating - over the last few days each entry has increased so currently each birthday is listed 192 times!
I've tried switching the birthdays calendar off, quitting the calendar and restarting my iPad but they are still there.
Anyone have any ideas of how to fix this?

Did you receive a response on this? I am having the same problem on my iPad 3. I turned off the Birthdays and when I turn it back on, there are HUNDREDS of the same entry.

Can more than one iPhone sync to the same Calendar and Contacts List?

My partner and I are thinking about buying iPhones, but before we do so I want to make sure that we can both sync to the same Calendar. So, for example, if she makes plans with friends (and updates her iPhone Calendar accordingly) I also want the appointment to be entered into the Calendar of my iPhone when I next sync it. Has anyone done this? Is it possible?

I sync using mobile me - over the air, my wife syncs via itunes, we keep several calendars in ical.
You can look through the manual as well. It may help you figure out what iphone can do.

Can I have mulitple iCloud Contact lists and calendars on one account?

We have 3 iphones in the family. I'd like to use one iCloud account for our iTunes library, but each of us needs to maintain our own calendars and contact lists. Can I have separate calendars and contacts under the same iCloud account?

My Palm Z22 will not type in calendar or contact mode.

My Palm readily typed and deleted until I downloaded an update of Nevada Casino for Palm from Standalone.com. I initially purchased the programming disc at Standalone.com. I played it for a few days until the bank roll ran out. It stopped playing because there was no way to reset the bank roll. At Standalone.com, I was instructed to download an update to correct the problem that was inherent in the program. I downloaded several times because I still could not reset the bank roll. After receiving several instruction emails from Standalone.com this week, I was able to reset the bankroll through Hold'Em Poker, which was also on the disc. For a while I was able to play the games.
I also downloaded some solitaire games from Standalone.com. I was able to play them for a few days. Last night I had some problems tapping cards with Pyramid. The tapped cards would not disappear.
I discovered a new problem today. I can no longer type or delete anything in the Calendar and Contacts modes. I am at a loss as to how to correct the problem. I rely on my calendar and contacts lists every day. I also just discovered that when I tap on the screen to play any of casino games, nothing is happening. PLEASE HELP!!!

If you have all your information backed up via HotSync to your computer, you can try a Hard Reset - since your problems seemed to start with the download of that game, it could be the source of the problem!
After you do the Hard Reset, DO NOT Hotsync right away, but test to see if your screen is working correctly. If it is OK, then the problem is software-related and still on your computer in the /Backup directory for your Palm information.
Rename the /Backup directory to /BackupOLD then do a Hotsync and choose your original Hotsync name. All your PIM data will return, but not the problems.

Sync Outlook Contact List and AOL Contact List

I have several Outlook Accounts and an AOL Account. I would like to combine my calendar and contact lists into a single one. When I sync my phone, will the sync process allow mw to do that? If so, how?

The iPhone supports syncing contact info and calendar events direct via the iTunes sync process with Outlook 2003 or 2007. It doesn't matter how many email accounts you are accessing with Outlook.
The iPhone's mail client supports accessing POP or IMAP accounts, and can access an Exchange account via ActiveSync, which Apple licensed from Microsoft for the iPhone's mail client.
You can access an AOL account as an IMAP account with the iPhone's mail client, which includes an AOL account preset that creates the account as an IMAP account.
If your AOL contact list is not available in your Outlook contact list, you needs to do so since the iPhone does not support syncing contact info with the AOL program's address book.

HT1296 my calendar is showing all the birthdays listed against people in my contacts list a day earlier than they should. Why?

Since receiving a new iPhone 4S to replace a previous phone, my calendar is now showing all birthdays as being a day before the date they are listedon within my contacts list. Any ideas why and how to rectify?

I posted this question a while ago and didn't receive any responses but there are a lot of people who have viewed it and 10 have said they have the same question so I thought I would update you that I added my nanny to my exchange server account (created an email for her) and I send all invites to that email address and they work. So sending invites from an exchange server account to a non-exchange server account apparently is a bug so to solve it, get on an exchange server I guess.

Apple it should work on the calendar and birthdays for other families and friends without adding them to the contact list.

Why can we add friend birthday without having them as contact... Like my niece birthday.

well i dont know if this is what you want but you could says it is a birthday and it will tell you when it is, it can remind you, and even tell you what number (i.e. 23rd anniversary)
- actually nevermind that wont work because it will always say birthday and you cant have two birthdays scheduled for the same person. i do not think that is possible without actually putting it in calendar to repeat every year and just telling you. Sorry.

Birthday at contact list 1 day behind after sync.. time zone problem?

I found out my iphone have problem with time zone after my US trip.
I lived in NZ and I used NZ time zone all the time and changed to US zone while I was on holiday..
I found out after I backed and change backed to NZ zone.. all the birthday listed under contact list is 1 day behind. Which I checked the information on my macbook the are all correct and time zone is correct as well.
No matter how many time I sync, the birthday still 1 day behind. I tried to change the time zone to US on my phone and manually update to correct local time. all birthdays are correct. But only thing is the worldtime has been messed up since I manually update the phone.
So this solution is not working...
I tried to re-boot, reset the setting. not working...
Once I updated the time zone back to NZ time to fix the world time.. it mess up the birthday again..
Any solutation to work things around? i am at firmware 1.1.1

If the birthdays and the rest of your calendar dates/times are correct on your Mac, try setting the phone's time zone to NZ and then when you sync, from iTunes scroll to the bottom of the Info tab and check the box to replace calenders on the phone.

Got me looking at settings etc
In the DEFAULT SERVICES section of ADVANCED OPTIONS
the calendar (CICAL) and messaging (CMIME) are set to the correct e-mail address
but the contact list (SYNC) is set to an incoreect e-mail address
This does not have a drop down box (like the other two)...so apparantly I can t change it
buit I need it to be the same as the Calendar & messaging setting
Can anyone help me please ?

Reimporting Contact Book birthdays back into Calendar?

I had an odd issue that resulted in all of my birthday information in my phone contacts and on my calendar up and disappearing. This happened both in Outlook 2007 and on my iPhone, so I don't know which blew away the other, just that they're gone. I was able to get the contact birthday information back, but I've been unable to get either Outlook or my iPhone to dump the appropriate information back into either calendar. Anyone have any idea how to force either program to reimport the data back into their respective calendars?

Just like you all, I suffered from this problem with a WindOHNOs machine. I too couldn't find a solution since 99% of the forums listed iCal fixes. So... I did it on my own. Now I'll have to warn you up front, the solution isn't pretty, or extremely fast, but don't fret, you wont be manually editing every single contact (well, kind of).
Follow these steps:
1. Go into outlook and open your calendar
2. Select View -> Arrange By -> Current View -> Annual Events
NOTE: All of your contacts that have birthday listed SHOULD show up on this page now. No they are not events yet; Yes its dumb that outlook 'knows' they're annual events but doesn't put them on the Calendar; Yes be patient.
3. With a contact highlighted, hit CTRL+A, which is the command to select all the items that populate that list. Alternatively, you could hit HOME then SHIFT + END to select the entire list as well. Whatever.
4. Right click any one of the contacts that are all highlighted, and select "Open Items"
NOTE: Outlook will warn you that opening alot of items may take a long time and doesn't recommend it. I opened 280 contacts almost instantly, no lock up or slowing, on a craptop, so don't fret and just agree to it.
5. With all those windows open (stop crying, I know its alot), get your fingers ready. No we're not going to have to click around everywhere and take a million years. Just some fast finger work is all.
6. Push ALT + U, ALT + Y, ENTER, ALT + S
NOTE: What you're doing here is manually selecting the recurrence button, then selecting yearly for the recurrence, then closing that window, then saving and closing that contact. You can click all that with your mouse, but getting into a rhythm on your keyboard makes it so you don't have to look at the screen and can go as fast as you can type perfectly.
7. Once you get the rotation down, it will start to be like this, ALTS,+U,Y, ENTER, ALTS,+U,Y, ENTER, etc etc etc.
Before you go on a diatribe saying how ghetto this is, realize you can do each contact in about a second and a half, so anyone should be done in about 5 minutes if you keep your pace up.
The reason I did it this way is that there's no way to mass-change all of your contacts' settings for the recurrence of the birthdays built into Outlook. None. There ARE third party programs you can use, but every single one I found cost money ($30 for some stupid keystrokes? no thanks.) This is a ghetto, jury-rigged solution that isn't pretty, but you cant complain about it taking a long time. Sack up and just do it, its a one-time fix, so get over it.
