Birthdays in Address Book appear 2 days earlier in iCal

I have the correct birthdays in Address Book. However about half of the birthdays (not all) appear in iCal 2 days before (e.g., Address book has correct date of 7/13 and it shows up in iCal on 7/11).
How can I correct this?

I have a similar problem, but only with some of the birthdays. For some reason two appear one day and one year earlier than I have entered them in address book. I would like to know how to sort out the reason for this and correct the errors.

  • Birthday in Address Book

If I have only a day/month to insert under birthday in Address Book, I notice that appears the current year which I don't want, mainly people give a day not the year.
How to go about it ? Can I use iCal for that or only Address Book and then is syncronized.
any other better alternative application/solution ?
    Thanks

You can link contact details together by putting the name of one in the related names field of another; a contact can have multiple related names.

  • Calendar appointment appear a day early

I link a couple of different calendars to my ipad. I enter the appoinments on my PC in outlook. Some, but not all, of the appointments come over and appear a day early. I can't seem to see a pattern. Has anyone else had this problem?

    (1) If your iPad/phone is syncing contacts with iCloud, turn it off. In Settings on your iPad/phone, Mail,Contacts,Calendars, Accounts, iCloud, turn off Contacts.
    (2) sync your iPad/phone to iTunes.
    (3) now select the ‘Info’ tab in iTunes for your iPad/iPhone. Ensure that ‘Sync Address Book Contacts’ is ticked. (You can revert to syncing with iCloud later, after this process is complete.)
    (4) scroll to the very bottom section of the Info tab. Where it says ‘Replace information on this iPad/iPhone’, select ‘Contacts’.
    (5) Sync again.
Now check Calendars on iPad/iPhone, this process ‘fixes’ the information of birth dates and they should now appear correctly.

  • Birthdays added to Address Book contacts are not showing in ical

I have added my contacts birthdays in Address Book but it hasnt populated over to iCal

It is a good idea to include the machine type and OS version in your problem posts.
Have you selected "Show birthday calendars" in iCal's Preferences/General?

I have a problem synching calendar data between my iPhone 3GS iOS 5.1 & Outlook 2007 on MS7.  The basic calendar data transfer is OK but the birthdays (little box icon) are a day early & cannot be changed to the correct date. The birthday entries in my Outlook contacts have correct dates. How can I fix this?

The following peocess corrects the calendar entry:
edit the contact & change the birthday, save the change; edit the contact & change the birthday to the correct value, save the change again. The calendar entry then displays on the correct date.  Alternatively as a temp solution I can just de-select the "birthdays" calendar which stops the icon being displayed.
Thanks for your advice, I think that it's n going to be a slow process to fix all the entries for not much return.

  • My Thunderbird page is screwed up - there is no address book appearing in the tool bar and i do not see a "write: tab - just message - how can I restore

My Thunderbird page is screwed up - there is no address book appearing in the tool bar and i do not see a "write" tab - just "message" how can I restore back to normal?
Would so much appreciate help... frustrating.

Sounds like you are missing the Mail Toolbar.
Do you have a Menu Bar with File-Edit-View etc?
If not press the alt key to make it appear.
From the Menu Bar select View-Toolbars and turn the missing toolbars back on.
Write and Address Book are on the Mail Toolbar.
FYI: The alt key or F10 will make a missing toolbar appear in most applications.

  • Calendar appointments and birthdays in contacts appear one day early? iOS 5.0.1 on iPhone 4S

Hello, About a week or two ago, I noticed all my appointments were on my calendar a day early, as well as birthdays in my contacts.  I sync my phone with my Macbook using Address Book and Calendar; had done this previous with my iPhone 3GS running iOS 5.0.1 without issue.  I unsynced my calender, and then re-synced it, and this corrected the calendar appointments.  However, birthdays still show up a day early on the calendar.  When I look in Contacts, the birthdays are correct.  Has anyone seen this before?  Thanks! --Matthew

  • Birthdays on my calendar are one day early

Has anyone had this issue before?  After I switched over to a 4S from a 3G, I noticed that all my contacts' birthdays are showing up one day early on my calendar.  However, when I go to the contact entry in the address book, it displays correctly there.  What's weird about this issue is that both my mac and ipad display birthdays using the same method and it's correct on both of those.  They all sync via mobileme, and running iOS5 and Snow Leopard.
Before erasing my phone's contacts, and trying to resync them, I was wondering if this could be fixed via the phone, or the bug isolated and sent up to Apple's software department.
    Thanks!

  • How do I add multiple birthdays to address book cards?

I am trying to figure out how to add multiple birthday's to cards in my address book.  Example I have Jennie & John Smith & their daughters Sue & Susie.  How do I add a birthday for each one?  There does not seem to be a way to add more then 1 birthday but I can add as many URL's, e-mails, phones, address etc. as I want?

    Hi RSER,
Apologies in advance for quantity of detail following..
Currently there appears to be no way to add an additional birthday. (Haven't explored command line options)
There are shareware options that will allow you to utilise the 'anniversaries' field to make additional birthdays and add them to iCal.
Personally, when I want that level of individual detail for a person I make a sep. card and add a note or 'related person' item.
I can only assume that the decision was made by Apple that we can have (and do) any number of phones and emails etc, but usually have only one birthday (some lucky people ie Queen Elizabeth have an official public holiday 'birthday' in some Commonwealth countries, so they get more gifts... but then have your issue)
With iCal you are potentially stepping into a minefield (so many things could be improved)
But consider that Apple have a key philosophy of simple.
There is enough for everyday use, but not so much it is overwhelming to the new user
If you want advanced functionality/technical capabilities, buy a 3rd party product
Certainly there are additions I would like to see:
The 'related names' field would be very useful if it were threaded within the address book to link/refer to other contacts, not just a static field.
Threading within contacts would also be convenient for adding names/addresses to an appointment in iCal (but not have to send requests etc)
Making a contact a 'Business', should allow multiple 'people', or as above, tie in multiple contacts
    Maybe something for v6...
Maybe I should buy another app too
Hope that at least eases the pain.

  • Multiple birthdays in Address Book on one card

Hi. I am trying to figure out how to list multiple birthdays for an entire family on one card in AddressBook. For example...
My sister has 3 children. I have her name in AddressBook that synchs with I-Cal.
I have her birthday listed but I want to find a means to list her childrens birthdates on the same address card so they appear in I-Cal too.
    thanks..

    Hi,
You could add the birthday dates as custom dates in Address Book and use Dates to iCal.
    Best wishes

  • Adding selected Birthdays from Address book to an iPhoto Calendar

I'm creating a Calendar in iPhoto, I have a large number of birthdays in my Address Book but I don't need all of them added to my Calendar Project (ie: Business contacts, etc). Is there a way to only add selected people, or a group to my project or do I have to import the birthdays and go in manually afterwards and erase the people I don't want?
    Thanks.

I did find a solution! I found that it was working from my laptop, but just not from my desktop. So, on my desktop computer, in Address Book, I deleted the field "Birthday" from my template, then I re-added it and from then on, it worked. There must have been something corrupt in the that field in my template. To get to it in Address Book:
Hightlight a card, then click Card > Add Field > Edit Template
Scroll down to the Birthday field and click the minus sign next to it.
Then add the field back in:
Highlight a card, then click Card > Add Field > Birthday
That worked for me. There are two parts that I don't know about:
    1) I don't THINK it will delete the Birthday field in cards that already have a birthday entered. I think it just deletes that field in the template and therefore in newly entered contacts that field would be missing, but I would make sure you have that data backed up in some way first.
    2) I don't know if the birthdays that are already entered will suddenly appear in your calendar or if you'll have to go back and delete and then re-enter that info.
I hope it works for you! Let me know!

  • Birthdays of address book accounts others than local

There appear no birthdays in iCal for contacts of Apple's address book, if the contact are NOT within the Local account, but part of a CardDAV account. If I copy a contact to the Local account the birthday appears in iCal.
My iPhone (iOS4) uses also CardDAV to sync these contacts, but the birthdays are shown in the iPhone's calendar perfectly.
Is iCal able to handle birthdays of Local contacts only?

Sorry for the delayed response.  As I said, this is a quick hack of somebody else's work, so the end result isn't pretty, but it works.

vbook is the script you run.  It requires vcard.
To execute it, first export your address book entries into a single vcf file.  In Address Book, select the server account.  In the menu , select File->Export->Export Group vCard  and put the file wherever you want it.  The script as written expects to find this file in the folder above the script, but that's easy to change.
After you have the file in the right place, execute the script.  It writes to standard output, so you'll probably want to pipe it to an .ics file.  Then import that file into iCal.
As I mentioned, if you have multiple Macs, you'll want to run this file on each one, and import the file into a local calendar.  If you try to put it on a server and share it between Macs, the address book links in the calendar entries won't work.
Obviously, this is a minor PITA as you need to run it regularly if you have a lot of changes in your Address Book.  It's not too bad for me, because I don't have a lot of changing info.  I run it every few months, whenever I think about it, in case I've recently added a birthday to my address book.
I'm hoping that this will all become unnecessary when iCloud rolls out

  • Can MULTIPLE birthdays on Address Book card show up in iCal?

iCal 2.0.3 - I have a number of cards in my Address Book that list primary party, spouse and several children. I have created in Address Book on a single card a birthday field for EACH of the parties on an Address Book card. However, only the primary party's birthday automatically is transferred to the Birthday calendar in iCal.
The only way I have been able to have all the birthdays shown in iCal is to have a separate Address Book card for each member of the family. Obviously, this bloats the Address Book.
Is there any way that I can accomplish this with one Address Book card with multiple birthday fields?
Thanks in advance for your help.
    Mac G4   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

While you can't list multiple birthdays for multiple members of a family on a single card in Address Book and have them automatically added to the Birthday calendar in iCal, you can by using Dates to iCal donationware manually insert birthdays into the iCal Birthday calendar (http://www.nhoj.co.uk/)
This is great in that it keeps you from having to bloat your Address Book by unnecessarily creating a separate card for each additional member of a family, e.g.

  • "All-day" events in iCal appear one day early in week-view on iPad

Just got an iPad and synced with iCal. I noticed that "all day" events appear correctly in day-view and month-view, but in week-view, they are shifted one day earlier. But if I choose to edit such an event, the information is still correct, e.g. an all-day event for Monday, May 31 and Tuesday, June 1, has that information, and it appears on Monday and Tuesday in day- and month-view, but in week-view, it has "slid left" such that it appears on Sunday and Monday. Anyone else seeing this? Any solutions?

I have the same issue on all day events synced from Exchange. The items look fine in the day or month view.
