BIS E-Mail

Dear Guys and Girls,
in our company we have Blackberry mobile Phones for some workers and they get their E-Mails from Company Account on it.
This works great so long, but we have a problem with readed/unreaded messages - ih they read a message on their mobile phone so it is marked as readed message in on outlook too, but if they read a message on outlook they have to read it again on their mobile phone .....
Is there any way to "syncronize" the e-mails better than they were this moment?
Thank you for your answers!
Best regards,
Manu

Hi there!
It sounds like you have a very "normal" configuration:
MS Exchange Server
Outlook Clients
OWA
BB's reconciling OTA against OWA via BIS
In that configuration, this KB will apply regarding reconciliation features...which, sadly for your desires, means it is WAD (Working As Designed).
If you desire more features, you might want to look into BES Express...the price is right!
Good luck!

  • BIS - e-mail setup icon not working

I have recently activated BIS plan from my (O2) provider. Right after it was activated and I turned it on..I have received an e-mail on my phone - "Your handheld has been registered with the wireless network." Then I go to SETUP - click on EMAIL ACCOUNTS icon and nothing happens.
I have read about the issue for several days now, looking on the internet for possible solution, but I'm lost.
I did security wipe on my phone, connected only to Mobile network (kept BIS turned off) went to SETUP - clicked on EMAIL ACCOUNTS icon and it was working, although it only offered Enterprise option, which I don't have. Then I went to settings and turned Data Plan (BIS) on,..immediately recieved registration e-mail, and EMAIL ACCOUNTS icon stops responding.
Is this phone related issue or do I need to get my provider set up something on their end?
    I got BB Torch 9800, 6.0 Bundle 2921 (v6.0.0.666,  platform 6.6.0.241) - do I need to upgrade, downgrade, reinstall?
I should add, that my provided does not sell Torch, well, nobody does nowadays anyway, if that's relevant at all.. Just thinking if it's the type of phone problem in relation to the BIS plan.

Your diagnosis may well be correct. One device can be registered to only one carriers BIS system anywhere in the world at any one moment. So, if for example TMO still has your BB PIN locked into their BIS, then O2 won't be able to properly create a BIS account for you on their system. But, only they (the carriers) have access to the necessary systems to actually diagnose why your device is not receiving proper service from their network.
I suggest you start with O2...have them dig deeply to determine why you are not receiving BIS from them. Showing only Enterprise email means that you are not properly receiving BIS services from their network. But, again, only they can look at their systems.
    Good luck!

Due to security vulnerabilities, rolling back to Firefox 4.0.1 is not recommended.
Does your work webmail use a common interface like Outlook Web Access or Google Apps? Perhaps there is a workaround.

    Hallo,

Wow! I put your germany text in google translator to my language and got a fright! Well, I stop using iPhoto just for the same kind of reason. I found a small mp3 player called VOX that works with m3u files and maybe is the solution for you. I cannot live without iTunes, but I don't let it manage my files anymore. It's the best player I know, but as a application, is a disaster.
Wow!

  • BB Curve 8310 and BB e-mail account

    Hello,
I changed my provider from Vodafone to 1&1 recently and since that I cannot create a new Blackberry E-Mail BIS account, means -> I cannot send or receive E-Mails on my BB. It worked with Vodafone OK.
The old account with Vodafone was deleted (checked and confirmed by Vodafone Service Desk).
When I try to create a new account with 1&1, the error message is "Your device is not registered with your service provider".
But it is registered, I received a registration SMS already with the new SIM card.
Does anybody know what the reason could be ?
The software on my BB Curve 8310 is 4.5.0.188. Can I install a newer version 5.0 on that device ?
    Is the software a problem?
Thanks for any tip. Rgds, CR

Yes, 1&1 confirmed I have booked a BB Option (Data Plan), but still cannot create the BIS account.
I found out some more interesting things:
I have 3 BB 8310 with a T-Mobile brand on it and 1 BB 8310 with an O2 brand on it.
ALL 4 devices have the same software 4.5.0.188 installed (the latest available).
ALL 4 devices have NO simlock, means I can make calls and send/rec. SMS ok with 1&1.
I CAN create the BIS account with the O2-Brand BB 8310 and send/receive e-mails OK.
(but unofretunately is phone is defective and switches off after 5 minutes, so I cannot permanently use it).
I CANNOT create the BIS account with the 3 T-mobile branded BBs.
2 of them have been wiped and I installed them completely fresh.
ALL 4 Devices worked formerly ok with Vodafone and BIS.
I checked with T-Mobile and Vodafone, and they confirmed both, that there are no registrations of any of the devices with them. Accounts have been deleted.
Why do the 3 T-Mobile branded BBs not work via 1&1 for the BIS e-mail / Internet service account ?
What is different on the T-Mobile branded phones ? Do I need to install a patch / unlock code for BIS to work ?
Can I send a free request to Blackberry Support and if yes, what is their e-mail address ?
Thanks for any hint / advice / link /etc..
    Regards, Christian

  • Can't find BES desktop e-mail icon

    Hi All,
I have set up five e-mail accounts on my first BB I bought a few weeks ago. I have icons for all BIS e-mail accounts on my desktop, but I can't find an icon for my BES e-mail account (through Rackspace). I think this icon, if it's there, is called "Desktop." Initially, I just figured my work e-mail didn't have its own icon, and e-mails to that account show only in the "Messages" icon with all the other e-mails, sms, etc.
Then, yesterday, I was downloading some apps and rebooting my BB, and an icon for my BES e-mail showed up (was named "Desktop"). But, it agains disappeared when I downloaded more apps and rebooted the phone. Now, I can't bring the BES desktop icon back.
I tried sending service books, but it didn't bring back the "Desktop" icon. I browsed and clicked pretty much all clickable things on my BB, but can't find anything that would create this "Desktop" icon.
Is creating the BES e-mail icon on the desktop something that has to be done when the account is set up, which was done between my IT person and someone at Rackspace in my case? Or, is there a way for me now to create this icon?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Indeed there is...the Empower BES Inbox application. This solution costs (per user), but does not require a change at the server, and only affects the one user.
    http://www.getempower.com/Empower_BES_MailBox.php
I tried the free trial and it worked great for me. But, before I had to pay, I convinced our BES admins to push out the server-based solution as it comes at no fee, though it does affect all users on that BES server.
    Good luck!

  • Separate E-mail folders not getting created

    Hi,
I have 8520 model. I have one BES e-mail (work mail) and 3 BIS emails registered. Currently my work mails are showing up in a separate folder with Desktop icon and mails from all BIS accounts are showing up together in a single folder. I am not getting a separate folder for each of my BIS e-mail id. Please guide how to configure it to have separate folder for each BIS account.

    Hi Richa,
Pls see whether the attribute ITS_DEST is maintained in the Org structure attributes for all users who recieve the notififcation in their external mail.
In SRM most of the email notification sent out contain URL links in their mail body. This URL in most cases is picked up from the user attributes. Here they play a very vital role.
Also check whether a valid external mail ID is maintained for the user in SU01 .Also all the external mails sent from SRM to external mail ID's can be seen in trascn SOST.Do you see any entries there for the SC?

  • Stop getting voice mail emails

I have a verizon pearl.  Is there anyway to stop getting a emails everytime I get a voicemail?  I think that the little tape icon is plenty and it is annoying to have to delete each email.
If this is not possible, is there a way to automatically delete the voicemail emails after the voicemails are listened to??

You could set up a filter against the BIS e-mail account to block the e-mail messages from the sender's address.

  • Email setup assistance required

    Morning everyone,
I need some help in setting up my email (8900 Curve) with my work email server. First problem is that the work uses a Microsoft 2007 Exchange servers with kookies (what I've read that it's not possible to conect). Based on this do I need to be on BES or BES?
I've then tried to autoforward the mails from outlook to my phone, but this is also not working?
    Any advise?

    Hi There,
I think you mean to use BES or BIS??
Ok, BES is compatible with MS Exchange 2007, which allows your to have wireless email and also wireless sync with calendar and PIMS.  If you company has a BES already, simply have your BES Admin to add you onto it and obtain an activation password to activate it.
On the other hand, BIS mainly target individual users and supports: Post Office Protocol 3 (POP3) / Internet Message Access Protocol 4 (IMAP4) with Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) or non-SSL using standard ports:
    110: POP3, non-SSL
    995: POP3, SSL
    143: IMAP4, non-SSL
    993: IMAP4, SSL
    Microsoft® MSN® HTTP (Microsoft® Hotmail)
    CS2000 (AOL®)
    Microsoft® Outlook Web Access 5.5, 2000, 2003, and 2007 using standard ports:
    80: OWA, non-SSL
    443: OWA, SSL
    Refer to http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB05333
I am not sure what do you mean to autoforward mails to your phone?   For either BES or BIS service, mail are push to your device as a copy instead of autoforward

  • Verizon Blackberry Internet Service Client (BIS)- How to create an e-mail Filter

Hello. Thank you in advance for replying to my question. I am trying to create an e-mail filter so that a contact's e-mail messages do not get delivered to my BB and instead just go straight to my regular e-mail account. I understand that you can do this function from the BIS, however when I tried to create an account I received a message that said "please use your device to access the BIS." I did just as the message told me but I did not get the same menu options from my BB as I would have gotten from doing it from the internet. The page only showed a list of my e-mails and an "edit" and "delete" choice for each one. There was no "Filter" button for me to click. I remember a while ago I able to access this page and was able to remove the BB signature (i.e.. "This message is being sent from a BB"), so I know that it was possible to access this page. I do not know why I am not able to accesses it now.
If anyone out there has Verizon and knows how to access the BIS, please let me know how. Or if you know how to create an e-mail filter function, please let me know.
    Thank you,
    Fred

    Hi there!
To log into your BIS account from a PC/browser (not the BB browser), go to this URL:
    https://bis.na.blackberry.com/html?brand=vzw
Enter your BIS credentials and you will then be in your BIS account screen. From there, use this KB to create the filter you desire:

  • Non-english characters in e-mails on BIS 2.5/OS 4.5

I am using a BB 8800 with the latest available handheld OS 4.5.0.55 on Vodafone Germany's BIS 2.5.
When replying to or forwarding HTML e-mail messages, non-english characters (German "Umlaute" such as ä ü ß ö) get replaced by strange characters (such as Chinese looking letters, question marks, blanks etc.). On the BB itself the e-mail still looks ok, but somehow the non-english characters get screwed up on their way to the receipients.
The problem persists no matter whether HTML mail is switched on or off on the handheld device. The device language is set to German, by the way.
A resolution or workaround would be greatly appreciated.
    Thx,
    jhey

No, we have not tried an OS downgrade on our BB handhelds. However, I assume it would *not* make any difference as the problem also occurs with the BB client on an old Nokia E61 which does not support HTML e-mails and the other functionalities introduced with OS 4.5.
After having addressed the issue to Vodafone Germany several times, also in writing, I finally received a call from a second level tech support employee about two weeks ago. The status as of today is as follows:
    - Vodafone Germany confirms this to be a problem
    - However, they were having difficulties in tracking the problem further down
    - The problem apparently relates to BIS server software, i.e. not to the OS of the handheld
    - Vodafone Germany collected a couple of sample e-mails from us to escalate the problem to RIM in the U.S.
I have heard from neither Vodafone nor RIM in the meanwhile. We start to get seriously angry on this and are evaluating to replace our Blackberries with a different solution (e.g. Windows mobile).
The only additional advice I could give you at the moment: Put pressure on Vodafone and RIM to resolve the issue!!

  • BIS not enabling Google Mail feature set for Google Apps account

I used to be a very happy BlackBerry user when we were still using Exchange and BES. Since then we have moved to Google Mail and my GSM provider is no longer giving me BES (no their GSM provider will either - BES is for coporations only now).
Normally, on my Bold 9900 the Google Mail specific feature set (in particular OTA sync of Calendar and Contacts) is supposed to work through BIS. I can confirm this works just fine when I try to connect to my plain-vanilla GMail account over BIS.
But my company calendar and address book is on the Google Apps domain, not my personal GMail account.
However, my company mail, which is a Google Apps domain, can not be set up as Google Mail, even if I force it to talk to imap.gmail.com. Mail is setup and is delivered (as it would be for plain IMAP/POP access). But Contacts and Calenar are not available for sync.
I tried to go through my GSM provider to have our company's domain name added to RIM/BIS Google Apps Domain lis to force BIS, but my GSM provider staunchly affirm that this is not their problem, but Googles, and anyhow, they can not contact RIM.
What options do I have to force BIS to accept a given domain as being a Google Apps domain?

  • Used blackberry - locked BIS - cannot add personal e-mail address

    Hi -
I purchased a used blackberry (tmobile - same carrier that I have) off ebay.  When I ran the set-up wizard, I had only two options for adding e-mail address (work e-mail address with enterprise or skip this option).  I understand that I can register new e-mail addresses online with tmobile.  However, when I try to do this - it says the Pin has already been used.  The ebay seller is not responding with his username or in calling tmobile directly to terminate the lock.  Is there some way for me to get around this and access BIS?

You can try contacting T-Mobile to ask them to release the PIN from his account. Not sure if it will work or not. Until it is released from that person's account you won't be able to use it. But try calling T-Mobile to see what they say.

  • Reconciling e-mail using BIS and Outlook

I own a small business and am trying to make this e-mail thing work smoothly.  I use Outlook 2007 and my e-mails get sent to both my Blackberry and Outlook.  However what I delete in Outlook is not reconciling back to my Blackberry to be deleted.  I have deleted e-mails on my Blackberry before Outlook has downloaded them to my computer and the reconciling works.  But if I delete the e-mail on my Blackberry after I have downloaded to Outlook, then it does not delete it in Outlook.  I have read the info on reconciling and it seems I am configured correctly.  So for this to work that way that I want it to, I need BES, is that correct?

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
Unless you are hosting your email system internally, you won't benefit from BES...BES provides enterprise-level conduits between internal enterprise email systems (e.g., Exchange, Notes, etc.) and corporate BB's. If your email is out in the public domain (e.g., Yahoo, GMail, etc.), the there's nothing BES can do for you.
See this KB for the reconciliation features available via BIS with various email providers. Find yours and see which features are available. It may well be working as designed.

  • E Mails and Exchange 2010 using BIS

Ok so im a complete noob and am currently on the phone to BlackBerry Support here in singapore, been waiting best part of 7 hours and no call!
So here's my story, my company uses 2010 exchange (yes 2010!)
I used to have a HTC Touch Diamond phone but the darn thing is just a byatch to write e mails on so my wife went out and bought me a blackberry 8900 without realising if it would even work on my price plan.
I added the Blackberry service to my price plan and was told yeah it would work  via BIS. We dont have BES, BUT it doesnt!
I keep entering my e mail add to the BIS page, the e mail address seems to get validated but then a few sec's later i get a message on my handset saying my e mails wont come through until i validate my e mail account.
Looks like 2010 exchange isnt compatible, is that right?
I've created a blackberry mail account and that works a dream! Is there any way around this issue?

This won't work on a BIS account. You'll need a BES account and BlackBerry Enterprise Service from your company.
